Am i the only one that sees this as simply Finex decoupling from Stamp? Spread maxed at like $20 or like what 3%

Can they reconnect it please? Tongue

No please don't, my coins are worth more since I moved from Stamp  Tongue

I don't think it says anything about their solvency, insolvency would normally cause people to get their coins out asap which would have the opposite effect. The explanation that its the go to cash out place could hold but why all of a sudden ? Somethings definitely brewing, would have thought someone would be arbing the gap as its been pretty constant.

Lack of people's memory can be astounding sometimes... Bitstamp has been the "cashing out" exchange since time immemorial. It has also been "the bearish exchange" since, forever. "Bearstamp" is not a term coined recently.

You're right: it's interesting to wonder what causes the renewed selling pressure/"cashing out" event currently (maybe insider knowledge from Chinese traders? I don't expect it, but it's possible). But in either case, the price gap in the current form is not a problem at all: if you want to liquidate coins in volume and get your money out fast and reliably (and you don't mind a bit of KYC anal probing Tongue), then Bitstamp has been the exchange to do so since more than a year now.

Yeah, my point was more why all of a sudden the difference due to being the cash out place rather than why all of a sudden is it the cash out place. That then leads directly onto your second point Wink

This suggests in the simplest explanation that for some reason over the last couple of days a largish amount of coins have been "cashed out". That is always interesting to speculate about. We all know as well that selling a large amount of coins != running off with the fiat never to return.

Hey FXO, I just got promoted to Full Member and request to be paid accordingly Smiley

Off topic, but is the ranking broken? I've been stuck here at member for a week or so now, and I know with the time I've put into the forums (again) I should at least be approaching Full Member or whatever the next one up is, how much time do you have put in? I have about 3 days, and I thought activity refreshed every so often.

Activity are 2 week = 12 Activity , you can easily count with your registered date .

2 weeks = 14 activity provided you post in that two weeks period.

*sigh, seems we have a new resident troll whos just going to tell us continually how we're going down, then disappear again when the price starts rising...

Can the fucking retarded hacker stop DDOS the pool ??
What's the point of doing that ? Are you 12 ?
Which pool is this ?

http://monero.crypto-pool.fr
It stopped now. He was doing it from 11/6/2014 14:03:40 to 12/6/2014 02:01:37
We where getting crazy with my friend.
We'll try some anti DDOS fixing for this to not happen any more.

Your pool is a good one and attracts many miners (including me : thanks for your good work) : I suppose someone is happy reducing global hashrate to improve his personnal gains ... It happened for every successful coins. I hope you will find some way to make your pool ddos "super" resistant.

Thanks for your support. That's maybe a good thing because it force us to improve.

Jeez have some people got nothing better to do ?! I'd go with your thinking that its probably some 12 year old thinking he's doing something clever...
1206  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: June 12, 2014, 09:13:55 AM
Still no real explanation for Stamps lagging behind ? With the amount of USD longs on Finex I would have thought some people would have panicked and bought them back into line...

Rather than this suggesting Stamp's insolvency/Goxxery, it suggests that Stamp has temporarily become the go-to exchange for cashing out coins. People are buying/trading elsewhere and selling/withdrawing on Stamp. Curious. That suggests somewhere else is experiencing fiat withdrawal issues. Another round of Chinese games to come?

My issue from the this post https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=583449.msg7240988#msg7240988
is still not fixed. The first transaction is finalized (after many hours) but the other one is not.

This is just the only one monero lost. Anyway could be really more and nobody can tell me what did I do wrong.

If there's nothing I did wrong and nothing I can do - the issue is appalling. Could literally mean: monero can disappear for no clear reason and be gone forever.

Have you contacted Polo? As far as Im aware they only watch a payment ID until it receives something. There is a chance that after that first transaction was received they stopped watching that payment ID which is why the second transaction isn't credited.

Did you mean bitfinex? Isn't it based on bitstamp (sort of) ?

Yeah Bitfinex, sort of. They used to rely heavily on Stamp but as time has gone on they use them less and less, at one point not so long ago they did say they were almost completely decoupled.

With ghash.io now consistently controlling close to 50% of the Bitcoin hashrate, I'm wondering if Cryptonote has basically the same vulnerability. I'm unfamiliar with how this mining protocol works. It seems to me if Cryptonote had any strength in this regard whatsoever it would be a gigantic advantage for Cryptonote. Thanks to whoever replies.

Cryptonote is a protocol and the 50% issue is not a protocol issue so as such is vulnerable to the same pooled resources issues.

moneropool.com stop payment!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

just leave that pool, it not happen once it happens many times already, ABANDON THAT POOL

Bitstamp 631, Bitfinex 648, Huobi 648.

I think people are sending their fiat to other places than Stamp now. Even though its still the prefered trading platform for many, people don't want to take part in their KYC/AML.

Where?

I can think of kraken.com if you're euro based, but for dollars btc-e, coinbase?

Finex VoS

Finex makes sense as its so much higher.

ec2 miners are launching hundreds of instances because it is extremely profitable with this price spike.
I don't think this is true. I don't think EC2-Mining is profitable with current price of $1.73.

Yeah thats not it trust me Wink

1000 h/s gets around 3.8 XMR at this difficulty which is around .01BTC at this price which is $6.40 ish. Cost of 1000 h/s is around $7.60 per day. In fact all thats happened with this price spike is its become a bit less of a loss to mine but still cheaper to buy.
1216  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: June 11, 2014, 11:17:24 AM
hmmm the constant price differential between Stamp and Finex is starting to become a bit of a concern...
1217  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero - Secure, private, untraceable cryptocurrency on: June 11, 2014, 11:11:35 AM

I downloaded the blockchain, putted it in the bitmonero folder, launched bitmonerod, still cant connect and look at my balance "daemon is too busy"

okay so after you have put bitmonero blockchain in %appdata%/bitmonero and have launched simple wallet and bitmonerod, type set_log 1 in the bitmonerod window. I imagine this will show you blocks still coming in, once that stops you should have a green message that says SYNCHRONIZED OK. That means the blockchain has finished downloading and then you can type refresh in the wallet.

daemon is busy means its still downloading the blockchain.
1218  Other / Off-topic / Re: FIFA World Cup 2014!!! on: June 11, 2014, 10:15:16 AM
You have some really high scoring games, I really dont see that many goals being scored in the tournament. 1) because there often isn't in the world cup and 2) its gonna be fooking hot, expect alot more holding of the ball and build up play rather than running around scoring 6 goals a game Smiley

So, just tried to send my first test deposit to bittrex.com sent like

transfer 0 addresstheygaveme 1 keytheygaveme

The simplewallet gave some kind of message that it worked and deducted an amount from my wallet.

The wallet says sent, it's been over an hour and no deposit, I also put both the address and privatekey in http://monerochain.info/search and nothing shows up.

How to fix this error.

Hi, that site will not show you an address in the same way blockchain.info does. That explorer takes block height, transaction hash etc. If you copy and paste the payment ID that they gave you , you should be able to see the transaction.

I did, I misspoke and called it privatekey. Nothing shows up.

Okay well then contact the exchange you sent it to and take it from there. It wont have disappeared.
