serious logisitcal question - anyone know if it's possible to insure, apply tracking, and pay postage on a package online somehow? if i could just go to the post office and do a drop off that'd be A LOT better then rocking up with over 100 packages to process.

i'm blind. one look at USPS.gov and it's right there...

For the sake of the postal employees, please do this.

that got good laugh out of me...

Fun with Google Spreadsheets...and group-buy slackers...

It's not perfect because it catches the bottom total and mis-represents the value.  Could use some polish, but the point is that it can actually be quite useful to know of these types of features.  Have fun!

For those on a unix box (or with cygwin):

Code:
wget -qO- --no-check-certificate "https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/tq?tqx=out:csv&tq=select A,B where D = '' &key=0AjCZrDbAiz_PdE4tbDR3X3owMHNMb1NyekJGWHN4QlE#gid=0"

I just sent my payment to John's BTC address and did the signed message thing to arklan's gmail address.  Hope I did it correctly.

Wish he wasn't using gmail.  I feel like I just announced to the world what I'm doing.

sorry. Sad

but i got it. Cheesy
1764  Bitcoin / Group buys / Re: ASICMiner Block Erupter USB group buy (US/Canada) on: May 10, 2013, 02:43:51 AM
Hi Arklan and John,

Can we send in whatever's in the kitty now?  It might be days till everybody's paid up.

I am still waiting for a response from friedcat.  Sad

what he said.
1765  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Avalon Asic chip Mini USB miner [Post if interested] on: May 10, 2013, 01:12:50 AM
I'm interested if: not a scam, and payment accepted in ltc.

Well, there's no way it can be a scam right now considering this is all concept. If I make a store I might accept ltc, but btc would probably be preferred (also will take credit/debit and paypal probably)

ya know, it's gonna be incredibly entertaining to me if, after you've bought usb miners from me, (the asimcminer ones) i end up buying them from you. Cheesy

Tongue you can host a group buy if youd like! (I'll do a bulk discount) when the time comes

...well, yea... i ... i could...

least i know how to run it better now!
1766  Bitcoin / Group buys / Re: ASICMiner Block Erupter USB group buy (US/Canada) on: May 10, 2013, 12:36:53 AM
about ot go to a liqour store right now

 ... in Utah ? Wink

state run liqour store, which i spent half an hour trying to find... but i DID get a bottle of johnnie walker black label. been a long time since i've drank. god it's good.

*ahem* my drinking habits aside, everything's progressing fine. once the order window closes I'll (breathe a sigh of relief) send the slackers pm's again.

... first-world-problem : being too inebriated and lacking the dexterity to accurately type in your long-ass wallet decryption password to place an order for another 4 units ...

where's my facebook like button?

i'm actually about ot go to a liqour store right now for celebration libations.
1768  Bitcoin / Group buys / Re: ASICMiner Block Erupter USB group buy (US/Canada) on: May 09, 2013, 10:59:39 PM
Payment sent for 1, though I initially pledged for 2. Sorry for the change.

Thanks.

did ya email me the confirmation/shipping?
1769  Bitcoin / Group buys / Re: ASICMiner Block Erupter USB group buy (US/Canada) on: May 09, 2013, 10:16:25 PM
I count 561.0471 as paid in the spreadsheet and 558.99840078 in the escrow address.  That's 2.04869922 needed in the escrow address to match the spreadsheet.  That's 0.05260078 short of one extra.  Arklan are you aware of any partial payments?  Also, what's "NZ" on line 48 (timewaster)?

i've had 1 payment from muyuu directly to me, since he's in london and had extra shipping.

other then that... uh... hmm. yea, i got nothing. i really hope i didn't screw this up...

timewaster is in new zealand. he along with other non-north american orders (there's a handful) have agreed to send extra for shipping.
1770  Bitcoin / Group buys / Re: ASICMiner Block Erupter USB group buy (US/Canada) on: May 09, 2013, 09:28:20 PM
we're at 378 ordered, and most are paid for!
1771  Bitcoin / Group buys / Re: ASICMiner Block Erupter USB group buy (US/Canada) on: May 09, 2013, 09:20:05 PM

Hmm. it does not yet show I paid.

I sent you the txid. Is this just a matter of not updating it yet or should I resend it.

I see the instructions have been changed from the pm , and now talk about signing the message with a bitcoin address.

I find the current official client unusable  ( https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=184125.0 )

So I sent from a different client,  however it does not support signing.  Seems this escrow may have gone from zero value to negative value for me.

i've been sent several mails without an attached forum name, so i haven't known who to credit. maybe this is it? i'll check my spam folder too.

edit: found a PM with payment. i'll update the spreadsheet.
1772  Bitcoin / Group buys / Re: ASICMiner Block Erupter USB group buy (US/Canada) on: May 09, 2013, 09:11:27 PM
That strikes me as sub-optimal.

Looking at things from ~friedcat's perspective, he's got an expected production rate with it's own problems (flakey suppliers, broken equipment, sick employees, etc.)

He's probably got a bunch of customers breathing down his neck wanting exact dates.  Every person in line who wants some flexibility adds variance to those after.  He's probably also factoring the offers of hookers of different nationalities and all kinds of other things he's been offered as well.

If I were the-cat, I would be very inclined to give preference to rock solid money-up-front no hassle type deals.  The more nebulous and variable deals would fall to the end of the production run.

But I'm just guesstimating about all this stuff since I have no first-hand experience with it.

Scene - well lit laboratory with sub-optimal ventilation
Time - present day

the cat:  "Hey, you know that box headed for Utah with 300 of those things?"

employee #1: "Yeah, I'm loading it now."

the-cat:  "They just came up with more dough, throw in an extra 68 or so."

employee #1 "OK boss, sure thing."

End of Scene

best part: "or so."

i've told john that we should submit the order asap, as long as we can alter it before it ships out to include later payees.

believe me, i hear ya. i prefer this approach too, but i leaeve it at the discretion of the guy with the coin, aka john.

also, holy crap - 368 of these things? i'm gonna be at the post office for HOURS. Cheesy
1774  Bitcoin / Group buys / Re: ASICMiner Block Erupter USB group buy (US/Canada) on: May 09, 2013, 08:19:05 PM
ordering closes in:
Timer removed. End time: 2013-05-10+04:18:59

spreadsheet of orders:
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0AjCZrDbAiz_PdE4tbDR3X3owMHNMb1NyekJGWHN4QlE&usp=sharing

i will send payment now but i want to ask do you ship to Egypt or i have to have USA address ?

egypt is complicated. probably extra shipping costs and such. i'm willing though. is postal service ok, or do you need another carrier? PM me and we'll discuss this.

ok, so things are going VERY well, to my eyes.

i've told john that we should submit the order asap, as long as we can alter it before it ships out to include later payees.

of course, ideally, everybody will pay quick like. come on you lazy blighters! get it in! (that's a joke. i know stuff happens.)

40 people are unpaid as of now. ...wow, this is awesome. Cheesy
1775  Bitcoin / Group buys / Re: ASICMiner Block Erupter USB group buy (US/Canada) on: May 09, 2013, 07:03:29 AM
ok, out of 92 orders, 44 remain unpaid.

i would add up how many actual miners that is, but... well, it's 1 am and i'm way to tired to be sure i'd do it accurately. Cheesy

Ok, I'll just throw some satoshis on as a "gratuity".  It will be my penalty for being order number 301  Grin

It will be nice to have the spreadsheet finalized and then we can see who the "holdouts" are.

you cannot imagine how much i'm looking forward to that deadline... Cheesy this is more stressful then i expected. Cheesy
1778  Bitcoin / Group buys / Re: ASICMiner Block Erupter USB group buy (US/Canada) on: May 09, 2013, 05:32:18 AM
I am just waiting to figure out how to sign a message.  It would be easier for me to just put my spreadsheet order number at the end of my transaction.  e.g. BTC 2.101300XX

I was also hoping John would show up and confirm the transactions are coming in like he wants.

signing is weird, i know. as you can see in the thread, it's been problematic.

your plan is fine. go for it.
1779  Bitcoin / Group buys / Re: ASICMiner Block Erupter USB group buy (US/Canada) on: May 09, 2013, 04:58:34 AM
Damn, I'm impressed with folks putting up money promptly.

I was expecting half the pledges to never put up the cash.

Bitcoin community ftw!

i was worried about it too, but so far we're at about half way.
1780  Bitcoin / Group buys / Re: ASICMiner Block Erupter USB group buy (US/Canada) on: May 09, 2013, 04:54:04 AM
Any chance that I could add two more sticks to my order for a total of 7 (up from 5)?  I already paid for 5, but came across another couple of Btc and would like two more to fill out the USB extender that I have.

as said in email, done and done. just send john the btc and show me a confirm of the transaction please.
