Just a guess, ...
Just a guess, you are the third crowncoin guy in a row. You guys always appear in group formation, never alone. It's like someone takes a walk with his many dogs.

This does look cool, i'll give you that!
Is this only conceptual? Will this work in mainnet or only on your walled garden network?
How does the client extrapolate block info from the other coins? Do you have a full node of each coin your tapped into? If so bitcoin has a chain size of over 50GB.. This will require a huge VPS and will cost quite alot. Will everyone be required to host a bitcoin blockchain when they run a service node? If not, where does the 'decentralisation' come in? Are service nodes even on your agenda anymore?
It's many things. You can read the announcement if you haven't yet: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1045373.msg16085975#msg16085975Like any true research-project, the spreadwallet will keep evolving. But the key specification and goals I want to achieve are pretty much set in stone: 1) customizability 2) capable to work with multiple different coins 3) serves as testbed for servicenode research It will work with crowncoin too, why not. LMAO!

50GB? In what timeline do you exist?

Ty @georgem - I am digging the look and functionality of the wallet/interface. I appreciate the update.
No problem, glad you like it. Functionality is just an example (based on my own preferences and current needs), we can ofcourse add more functionality according to my patrons wishes. BTW, thanks to whoever sent me 2500 SPR 24 hours ago.

Here's a short new update video about the current state of spreadwallet development. I demonstrate the general behaviour of the explorer tabs, and a few of the commands that you can currently use. You can type the block_nr, with or without coin name. Right now it will just show basic block-header-data. (More to come soon) You can do a getaddr to ask a full node to inform you about the peers it knows (or has seen in the past. It will list the 100 most recent ones) You can do a ping on any IP. You can do a portcheck on an IP that will tell you which of the coins in your coin-list is running on that IP. Stay tuned for more. https://vimeo.com/200603212Still working on the podcast (and a dozen other things), don't worry.

Still developing this coin?
Like a Mofo. BTW, a big thank you to all the miners!
|
|
|
Btw how is it still unique with pools present?
Ocminer has a way through a private miner to allow you to mine on his pool however it is a trust/trust relationship. Mine at your own risk.
Exactly. Ocminer's tool requires you to blindly trust him. Although sourcecode is available, it is not possible to rebuild the exact same builds that you will receive from ocminer yourself. He adds some sort of encrypted keys / connection mechanism to the file that you are not allowed to know. Therefor you have to blindly trust him that the builds you receive actually are what they are. But if this is his requirement, then why not just give him full remote access to your mining hardware? From a trust perspective it's a similar scenario (just a little bit exaggerated). This is the reason why Spreadcoin has never officialy endorsed ocminer's pool. Because blind trust has no place in crypto. But ofcourse you are free to enter into an agreement with him. None of my business.

On another note.. Something that slightly worries me...
You seem weirdly invested in all this.... almost emotionally invested. Care to elaborate? The above address shows ~130k SPR in total, but: Georgem has received more financial support than any dev I know working on a project that hasn't delivered anything yet.
150,000 SPR from me alone in the last year.
I gave an explanation about this right there where you quoted this from, so why pose this question as if it was something new? If someone still has questions about this, he can read about it there. I will address this (and much more) in more detail once I have all the other things ready.

i got completely fed up with sifting through tons of garbage - to read through the relevant stuff ...
Good luck with your moderated thread.... that is decentralization in action. But you are always welcome at spreadcointalk.org too. That's where the relevant stuff is anyway. http://spreadcointalk.org/index.php?topic=762.msg4177#newDon't worry I will take this thread here back very soon, (As soon as I have everything setup for 2017, which will be an AWESOME year) and the troll(s) will tire themselves out eventually anyway. If not, I will bring that vermin exterminator...

Don't worry, I will answer everything and everybody. It's true what they say, the best antidote against cockroaches is SUNLIGHT! So I'm gonna shed some light on this soon, and I'm gonna bring the biggest flood lights I can find. But currently I am working on the next update. It's all about priorities, I owe that to my patrons. Stay tuned.

Happy new Year everybody!

Merry Christmas to All! I hope all have a wonderful Christmas day with your family and a feast to rival Thanksgiving! Merry Christmans to you too! I got some presents for you guys that you can unpack next week. But first priority right now is family and food! Stay tuned and enjoy these days!

I honestly think SPR needs to pull away from Mr. Spread. We could maintain SPR and Spreadcoin while unofficially calling it Widespreadcoin. This would especially be influential when getting service nodes out there. Pasting "WideSpreadCoin" around a few of our websites wouldn't hurt. I'm very interested in contributing more to this coin, with my first area of focus being on wallet/user interaction.
All the dead links that still point to Mr. Spread's stuff will become irrelevant once we have MORE links pointing to the new stuff. (That's how google etc works) You can call Spreadcoin whatever you like, but I want to represent the brand SPREAD. Everything (r)evolves around SPREAD. Why not create a blog, explorer, price charts or something along that line and put it on your site? Then use the official spreadcoin links there. This will help!

Hey guys I just bought widespreadcoin.com It is currently pointing at the same IP as spreadcoin.info if someone wants to set it up.
nice wordplay, I like it!

What is your definition for Servicenodes?
They are not Masternodes. I'm pretty sure about that. So what are they then? How will they work? …. your guess is as good as mine. Maybe let them materialise first? -sf- The main motivation behind Servicenodes is to 1) Create incentives for people to run Full Nodes 2) Help miners get more rewards There are infinite proposals of how this should be approached. As you say "everybody's guess is as good as mine". But realistic scientific (and decentralized) solutions for this will be rare and in danger of being fragile. I'm working on an anti-fragile solution. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Antifragility

Looks like we are in the clear on Bittrex! No more threatening banner! They have seen that spreadcoin's community does indeed exist, and that this coin has a future! EDIT: also, we caused >7 BTC volume, which was probably the main thing that made them withdraw the delisting threat!

The project is still evolving. But here is how I would answer your questions: What's the marketing plan? Is there any?
As a decentralized community everybody is free to create his or her own PR/Marketing. That's how Bitcoin does it, right? And that's how we will succeed. I as the main dev am working on a regular podcast. (showing my dev work, explaining decentralization, other fun stuff) Others are invited to create their own video/graphix/buzz with the material they will receive (programs, graphics, etc..) or create themselves. Have you got a link for the roadmap?
It's still evolving, here is a previous roadmap, that is still mostly valid: (meaning we are still well within its defined parameters of "altcoin taxonomy", "servicenodes", "decentralized blockexplorer and exchange") http://spreadcointalk.org/index.php?topic=735.0Before this month is over I want to clear up a few things, and put all the cards on the table regarding: 1) Showing how patronage with spreadwallet development works in action. 2) I will make an announcement describing the spreadminer, similar to the announcement I did for spreadwallet a few months ago. 3) I will make an announcement describing servicenodes research (the more specific overlay and P2P network studies I'm doing) 4) I will hopefully have a true podcast ready (not just silent videos) 5) I will update forum/website and this thread, to account for new stuff. Stay tuned!

I didn't literally mean a fundraiser. I meant more like, sell off some SPR to get a higher trade volume on bittrex, then donate the bitcoin to the dev, then buy spreadcoin.com with it.
If you want to buy spreadcoin.com feel free to do so, you can then own it yourself in the name of the community. Let's decentralize ownership of domains, I certainly don't need to own all of them. BTW, I saw you did a small commit on spreadcoin github? Care to elaborate?

I would actually like to donate some USD if possible. I don't like the idea of gifting crypto because it complicates taxation records which, for crypto, is already enough of a clusterfuck in the USA. I do have some completely untracked coin I could donate (mined myself, unassociated wallets with any services etc) - but it's not SPR or BTC. Do we have any other ways to donate? Any other currencies? Probably tough with USD since you'd have to de-anonymize yourself I think. If you're not opposed to that I'd subscribe to an actual Patreon account for a monthly donation, but I don't know if you want to go that route. Hrm. Can I send physical cash to a PO Box? I'm coding right now, so don't have much time, but I couldn't oversee your comment. For my video podcast (which I will host on vimeo, youtube, minds, etc..) I plan to actually create a patreon account. https://www.patreon.com/I have seen lots of interesting youtube people start a patreon account with fantastic success. Here are a few examples of people I'm a big fan of, who basically earn their livelihood through patreon: https://www.patreon.com/user?u=3019121https://www.patreon.com/sargonhttps://www.patreon.com/rubinreporthttps://www.patreon.com/davecullenI was waiting for a good reason to start a patreon account, well here it is! As far as I know with patreon you can pay any currency using all kinds of credit cards etc.. they will then convert it to USD automatically: https://patreon.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/204606275-Do-you-support-international-payments-Can-I-donate-in-any-currency-(The only requirement is that you will have to create an account at patreon to be able to pledge money/support. But that's all.) BTW I think a patreon account is also important if we want to address an audience bigger than the usual altcoin echo chamber. Once I have setup my patreon account I will post the link here. Might take a few days. I got stuff to do! Change is coming!
