1881  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: [INFO]Hong Kong's HSBC Allows Customers to Trade Bitcoin. on: June 28, 2023, 10:46:49 AM
I am not arguing, I am only saying that China is slowly opening their borders for the cryptospace through Hong Kong as the go between and I think this is a positive development compared to the crackdowns being done by uncle Gary. There is more news besides the Hong Kong ETF article that already shows this.

You're grasping at straws that really don't make sense to grasp on since your main thesis is that China is becoming more crypto friendly than the US. And the fact is that what is happening in HK has nothing to do with Bitcoin or the Chinese position towards it.

Also, about ETFs in America, futures ETFs that were already approved are different from spot ETFs. Spot ETFs invests in real Bitcoin.

I don't know why you think you need to teach me about the difference between spot and futures ETF, and I tell you in my previous post that futures BTC ETF has been around for years in the US, and your Uncle Gary has nothing against it. You and many think that the SEC is fighting Bitcoin, when in fact all this fight is directed against shitcoins, and then what are you even talking about when comparing China and the US in the context of cryptocurrencies?
1882  Economy / Services / Re: Someone Paid Me $2,500 in April And Forgot... on: June 27, 2023, 03:38:44 PM
The OP has a history of account trading therefore dismiss the nonsense he is posting. Do not believe anything the OP is claiming because he is attention-seeking.

He probably thinks that by making up false stories and narratives he receive merits but his irresponsible conduct can be traced back to his first post in the forum under this "Newchanka" account:

Somehow it seems to me that you are the closest to the truth, because this story, like some others presented before, is not very convincing - and all together it really looks like some kind of bad attempt to create a reputation. Besides, why would someone just send $2500 to someone unknown without thinking about using escrow?
1883  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Possible Evil-Maid Attacks on Blockstream Jade on: June 27, 2023, 03:10:16 PM
Now I'm just askin' here, so forgive me:  Is this Ledger-playing-an-evil-maid thing an attempt to distract people from the unlubed assfucking still in progress they're delivering to Ledger customers via the Recovery option that ain't at all an option?  Just thinkin' aloud, mind you.
~snip~

If you look at the date then you will see that the article was published on February 15, 2023, which means that it is already old news. This does not mean that Ledger will not use every opportunity to divert attention from its products and its incomprehensibly bad business practices.

In the past, their team published an article about vulnerability in Trezor HW, so this is not some isolated case but their way of trying to be good guys, and at the same time cast doubt on the competition.
1884  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How does a whale sell its huge amount of bitcoins and change them into fiats? on: June 27, 2023, 01:27:22 PM
That's my question. A person who lost his private keys for years and recovers them. Maybe he mined btc or he won btc with a faucet, how can he prove all that after 10 years ?

Ownership can be proved in a very simple way, and that is by signing a message with one or more public BTC addresses. After that, he has to find out the process of paying capital gains tax, and then he can sell his BTC without any problems.

If I found 10 BTC and wanted to sell them all I would have to do is submit a tax return and explain when and in what way I acquired that BTC, and for all crypto assets acquired before 2016 I do not pay any tax (local law). I don't think this kind of thing is a problem, at least not in countries where BTC is not declared illegal or if it is not acquired illegally.
1885  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: [INFO]Hong Kong's HSBC Allows Customers to Trade Bitcoin. on: June 27, 2023, 01:02:00 PM
It is head shaking that uncle Gary, the SEC and the American government are cracking down on the cryptospace while a communist country like China are slowly allowing it through Hong Kong as the go between.
~snip~

I don't see any point in your post given that futures BTC ETF has been around in the US for some time, and HK is a special administrative region of China, and therefore what happens in HK cannot be an indicator that China has changed its attitude towards Bitcoin in any way.

In addition, the bank in question was not so long ago at the center of financial scandals and is considered one of the most corrupt banks in the world, but everyone seems to have forgotten that.

I wouldn't look forward to anything that has anything to do with China when it comes to Bitcoin, and I don't get anyone who thinks that communism and anything to do with decentralization and human freedom can succeed in one such country.
1886  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Would you dare to pawn your bitcoin? on: June 27, 2023, 10:52:35 AM
For me, every service in which someone gives its BTC for this or that reason is essentially wrong. Most of those who are active on the forum know what happened to companies that offered tempting interest on BTC deposits, and yet they were companies that operated at least somewhat in accordance with the law - while on the other hand, a pawn shop can literally disappear overnight and you can easily lose everything.

Of course, there is also the issue of KYC and the protection of this data, but also the problem of personal safety if it were physical branches - which leads me to conclude only one conclusion, and that is that this is a very bad idea no matter how someone presents it.
1887  Other / Meta / Re: Captcha slow to load on Safari browser on: June 26, 2023, 02:59:39 PM
@Wapfika, internet speed is definitely not a problem, but the thing is in the browser and maybe some other things that are related to the same. As for the link you can log in without a captcha, simply do not share it, and if that happens, no one will not be able to log in to your account because it will still need your name and password. The only problem is that such a link can allow someone to brute-force your password, since there is no captcha that would slow down the process.

I dug a little and it seems that there are many people with a similar problem - a possible solution ->

Some website and app sign-in screens require you to pass CAPTCHA challenges, such as recognizing letters in unusual shapes. iCloud allows you to bypass many challenges by automatically and privately verifying your iPhone and account. You can turn this bypass on or off.

Go to Settings  > [your name] > Password & Security, then turn Automatic Verification on or off.

- The economy is not going to crash into a recession

The optimist always hopes for the best outcome no matter how bad the situation looks, while the pessimist always thinks the worst will happen. I always try to think positively, but at the same time make decisions according to what is happening in the world.

- That the Russia - Ukraine war will not escalate into a European war

It's already a European war, because you can hardly find a country in Europe that doesn't support Ukraine financially and militarily. Like it or not, the EU is at war with Russia, although some pretend that this is not happening.

- That Gensler CAN'T truly ban crypto

He himself can't do anything, and I don't know why people even mention him so much since he's just implementing measures of current U.S. policy, which is actually a continuation of what Trump didn't get to do in his term. After Gensler will be "Gensler" again, let no one deceive themselves that the problem is only in one man.

- Institutional investors will come back and take Bitcoin to six digits

They probably will, but they are a two-edged sword and will only be good for those who want to profit from Bitcoin no matter what happens after. All these big investors are with Bitcoin only for profit, and when they start selling en masse we will find ourselves again at four-digit figures. It may seem like a good opportunity for some, but a drop from $x00 000 to just $x000 would be a very bad sign for all future investors.
1889  Other / Meta / Re: Captcha slow to load on Safari browser on: June 26, 2023, 01:50:40 PM
It is possible that the problem is in the IP address you use, i.e. that someone from that IP address was doing something malicious and now Google is looking for multiple verifications in the form of solving reCaptcha. If you use home Wi-Fi try to restart the modem and get a new IP address, and if you use mobile internet simply disconnect from mobile data and try again.

There is also an alternative in the form of a special link that you can get on the login page, and with it you can avoid reCaptcha completely every time you log in.
1890  Other / Meta / Re: Ban Appeal For NoorulHuda. on: June 26, 2023, 01:18:42 PM
Please tell me if there is a way to proof if someone don’t have any Alts?
Based on this thread? How? I said it many times, that account does not belong to me. But it’s my brothers account…I know only gmjutt6 and my account is NoorulHuda.

There is no way for you or anyone to prove the absence of your alt accounts on this forum, because with all possible tools and understanding blockchain/wallets you can effectively hide among thousands of active members. Even if admins would go check IP addresses, if you and your alleged brother use the same ISP, you can't prove anything except that the two accounts use the same IP address.

I’m not sure but anyone who’s from my region can confirm my account is a girl’s name “Noor ul Huda”and this account gmjutt6 is a boy’s name (my brother)… I’m a girl. I know it does not matter but for the sake of argument I’m adding this.

Boyfriend, girlfriend, brother, sister, uncle or cousin - all this does not make much sense to you in what you want to prove, because it is not unusual for some members to have a feminine nickname when in fact they are men and vice versa.
1891  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: 1.7 billion people are still Unbanked; chances for bitcoin on: June 26, 2023, 12:44:09 PM
Most of these unbanked people are from the rural areas and such regions provides lots of workers and most of them work outside the country. If a person in diaspora wants to send money back home and he realizes that his loved ones are unbanked, what will he do? So with BTC, such people may escape from the remittance high fees. BTc will open the minds of many people who receive it. Everyone on the internet require some private and fast Ttransaction, it'll surprise you to know how electricity is everywhere including the rural area.
~snip~

I would not agree that the fees for sending money from abroad are so big, because we had already had such discussions on the forum before and I think @stompix showed some examples on WU transfer. In addition, the volatility that BTC has should be taken into account, because the one who sends must first buy BTC, and then the recipient must sell it to get cash.

Even if we talk about LN, theoretically the value of BTC sent in a very short period of time can change +/- 5% or more. Of course, the higher value will not bother anyone, but for someone who loses 5-10% by sending BTC it will certainly no longer be a good option.
1892  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: 1.7 billion people are still Unbanked; chances for bitcoin on: June 25, 2023, 02:08:45 PM
It would be interesting to know how many of these 1.7 billion unbanked actually do not even have access to the internet, and about 40% of the world's population does not have it at the moment. If 3.2 billion people don't have internet, is that a bigger problem than the 1.7 billion that are unbanked?

Hypothetically, if they all got access to the internet tomorrow and found out about Bitcoin what percentage of them would be interested in starting to use it? The example of El Salvador with about 70% of the population unbanked did not exactly show that people want Bitcoin even when it is completely legalized, given that the data showed that the percentage of those who use it is between 15-20%.

In El Salvador, some 70% of citizens are unbanked, meaning they lack access to a basic bank account. We know the unbanked face tremendous challenges in both saving and accumulating wealth.
1893  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Promotion methods. Dark & Bitcointalk? on: June 25, 2023, 01:24:18 PM
For me, it's pretty simple, because if you have a legitimate business, why would you advertise it on the dark web where at least 90% of potential users wouldn't see it? It is therefore logical to advertise where your advertisement will have the highest visibility, and this forum is a good place to start such a campaign.

However, it should be emphasized that it is not only the product/service that is important, but also the approach to advertising in the sense that 5 people in the signature campaign that will last 2 or 3 weeks will not very likely make great results.

Quality participants, competitive pay rates and campaign longevity are, in my opinion, the only possible path to success.
1894  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: I have been gone for a while on: June 25, 2023, 12:59:02 PM
Would you post here public what your merits are, or your colletaral, or your online established identity and show what you are doing now?

This isn't about me, but I have nothing to hide and I could never find myself wanting to prove myself publicly by looking for someone as you say "trusted" to verify you as a "good person" by revealing some things about yourself privately. I honestly don't care where you're from or what you've been doing in the past, it's not recommended to write about such things on the forum anyway, at least if you care about privacy.

[Fun Fact] Is Gold scarce ? Bitcoin is !

I would call this more "low value topic" considering that on the topic of Bitcoin - Gold there are hundreds of topics and I really do not think that anything useful can be said more. Besides, there is no point in hypothesizing what would happen if a large asteroid hit the earth because then all the gold and all Bitcoin, among other things, would become completely irrelevant and worthless.

According to some estimates, in about fifty years gold mining outside our planet will become profitable. Have you heard of Psyche 16? It's an asteroid that supposedly has $10 000 quadrillion worth of gold in it, if anyone can even imagine that number Roll Eyes

Some trusted figure here on the forum can talk to me. I have questions, and I have something to offer. Just listen and draw your conclusions.

What you seek does not really make sense, because if you have good and legitimate intentions, I don't see why it should be resolved through private messages and why should anyone say publicly that you are a good person? It seems to me that your old account hides some negativity because you did some things that were not in accordance with the rules of the forum, and now you're looking for a way to fix it somehow.

The rules of the forum are clear and not secret so you can read them, as well as any other recommendations for using the forum.
1897  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Lost coins redistribution on: June 24, 2023, 02:48:13 PM
Yes I was going to say this. The idea that like 4 million bitcoin are lost is clearly not true. From what I've always seen the calculation involves, as you say Lucius, assuming any bitcoin that hasn't moved in something like 10+ years is lost. But this is obviously not the case, as every few weeks someone moves some Bitcoin from 2010/2011/2012.

This speculation of 4 million lost BTC actually came from the fact that someone calculated it based on a time period of only 4 years if I remember correctly - and I also found a topic from that time (2017), although the source (article) does not exist.

Around 4 Million Bitcoins lost forever!!

Heck, Tim Draper bought something like 27000 bitcoin back in 2014 from the US Govt, and presumably hasn't moved it since, so according to this standard calculation all his bitcoin will be "lost" in a couple years lol.
~snip~

I'm pretty sure that Tim "spent" his BTC very quickly, because if I remember correctly, I read somewhere that he used those BTC for some kind of investment, although I can't remember exactly what it was about. Of course, this whole methodology of calculating lost BTC is full of holes and makes no sense, people realized that already 6-7 years ago.

It seems that you're not the only one who had some issues using Coinbase over the past few days check this Reddit post below
~snip~

What is strange is that this user claims that the whole situation has been going on for 8 months, although some others claim that their "problem" was solved in about a month. It seems that users will find their way to DEX one way or another, because using CEX will become like gambling.
1900  Economy / Economics / Re: What roles does the poor play in the Economy? on: June 24, 2023, 01:47:35 PM
I think that the poor play a big role in some economies, because if you are poor, it is very likely that you are also uneducated, and in that case you are subject to very easy "management" by those higher up in the hierarchy. If you take the example of China, which has a very cheap labor force (comparing it to the US or the EU), then it is very clear that without the cheap labor force, that country would not be competitive in the world compared to what it represents today.

Let's further take the example of many African countries that are very rich in resources and at the same time most of the people are poor or living on the edge of poverty - while at the same time their politicians do their best to keep the people where they are because that way they can easily manage the country and use resources for their luxurious life.

Unfortunately, poverty is something that many people turn their heads away from, for the reason that they simply do not care, or it is in their interest that the poor remain exactly as they are.
