1041  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin base case target on 2030 is $682,800 according to Ark Invest on: October 15, 2023, 11:25:17 AM
Every year they make a new report, but they still don't say anything new except for repeating worn-out phrases and trying to cause FOMO. In addition, when I see that someone is speculating about the price of BTC and also gives a specific price that is not rounded for some reason, it convinces me even more that they are pulling these numbers out of a hat, and not from some serious analysis.

1042  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Ledger's laying off employees. Thoughts? on: October 15, 2023, 10:44:32 AM
It's quite an expensive device to get in Europe despite their price reduction. I think you are still looking at around €250 if you buy it from an official reseller. But yeah, Passport definitely deserves one of the top spots now.
~snip~

The price is really around that amount (even a little more) with the addition that the costs of sending the package should be added to the total price. However, I don't think that amount should be an obstacle for anyone who has any amount of BTC that they feel is of great value to them. For some it may be 1 BTC, for others it may be half as much, but considering the security provided by the device, it is a small price to pay.

Of course, when we buy things like this online, we should always keep in mind what happened with the Ledger database, and avoid such a situation in the future. This means either buying the device directly in a physical store and paying in cash, or using a PO box.

There is another option, and that is if you have someone who travels to the US to buy you that device, you save some money and don't have to worry about possible data leaks and privacy threats.

Awww he's so cute Cheesy
~snip~

You may have seen the picture I posted in one of the threads that the OP started on the same topic - and when you mention that RFK Jr. is cute, then what can be cuter than this picture - everyone who has dogs and turtles will vote for him Smiley

As for those people who still think that Bitcoin can change the world on a fundamental level, I wonder if they will ever come to their senses or will continue to live in illusions forever Undecided
1044  Other / Meta / Re: It is bad to use AI to help my post quality improve? on: October 14, 2023, 01:35:48 PM
AI writing tool is a very powerful tool, yet the tool is still incomplete.
You know the 80-20 ratio?
It takes 20% of time to give 80% of the information.
But it takes the 80% of time giving the last 20% of the information, that is indeed what makes the difference.
AI tools are really good at the first step, still they are not good enough for the last one, that is the one that makes the difference.
Thanks also to linking to my old post!

Honestly, when you were the first to write about it, it seemed to me that it was something quite harmless that would be very easily detected and that it would be treated as plagiarism on the forum. Since then, AI Chat has really improved, so today we read how various books, pictures or even movie scripts are being investigated due to the suspicion that they are not the work of humans.

From what can be seen in various threads in which posts are published that are suspected to be the product of AI, it seems to me that this thing has spread like a plague on the forum and that only a small part manages to be detected, and an even smaller part results with a punishment.

Thanks also to linking to my old post!

You're welcome - , because it is good to remember that the discussion about this problem existed years ago, and I think that things were already quite clear when it came to the use of this technology on the forum.
1045  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Do you ever feel tired of waiting? on: October 14, 2023, 01:13:46 PM
A well-paid signature campaign ranges from $400 to $800 a month. I'd live like a king if I were earning that much from signature campaigns alone. Currently, if everything is running smoothly, I'll be earning $280 per month, which isn't bad; I'm actually quite satisfied. However,  I've been extremely busy the past few weeks with me moving out and have missed a few payments. It's not enough; it's a decent side income, provided that you have a main source, which I don't.

I know that one sig campaign pays up to $1000 per month and I think that is the highest amount that can be earned, but it is not clear to me that you could live like a king with $800 in your country, which is still part of the EU and the Eurozone. The average salary in your country and mine is almost identical, but even a single person would have a hard time living like a king on $800, especially after inflation has raised the cost of living.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_European_countries_by_average_wage

That is true; as I quoted the previous user, I joined in 2014 as a teenager with no access to payment methods in order to acquire Bitcoin. I missed the decent acquisition years of 2014 to 2016, which would have helped tremendously now, provided that I had a broader knowledge back then, but anyway, it belongs to the past. I'm being paid a fixed amount, which is great in bear market periods, as I'm getting paid more in terms of BTC. When I joined Roobet a little over two years ago, I started earning approximately 1 mBTC per week ($55) back then; now it's over 2.5 mBTC ($70) due to the lower price.

Given that you are far from a shitposter, I think you could easily find a better paid campaign, and currently there are a lot of them that pay at least $100 a week - $400 or even $500 a month would mean a lot considering your situation.
1046  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Can CEX, institutional investors, whales, hinder or halt the growth of Bitcoin? on: October 14, 2023, 10:50:06 AM
She (or anyone else in a similar situation) will say anything to save her own skin, and shift as much blame as possible to her boyfriend or whatever.
Wow, exactly what I was thinking when reading that, the dumb * will portray everyone around as the devil in disguise just to get out and make herself both look better and earn points for discussing this huge conspiracy!
Like I would trust her after the videos showing stuff like this:

“Our plan to wait for several months and for market environments to improve did not work out,” Ellison responded in part, giggling afterward.
~snip~

It is already a classic story that could be seen so many times in reality, but it is constantly running through American films and series. While living a luxurious life in the Bahamas, everything was great and everyone was friends, but when the tower of cards started to collapse, everyone blamed the one at the top, who again says that he did not know what those in the hierarchy below him were doing. The trial has already turned into the pulling of dirty laundry to the surface, and as it goes on, we will probably hear more juicy stories.
1047  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Robert Kennedy Jr. Promises to End White House War on Bitcoin on: October 14, 2023, 10:35:51 AM
Is the White House at war with Bitcoin? Last time I checked their policy was "at war" with the shitcoins industry and the corrupt CEOs from the various companies that make billions of $ providing the infrastructure for all those shitcoins.

~snip~
Also, he has been telling everyone that he wants the issuance of treasury bills to be backed by gold, bitcoin and other assets. This would certainly make the dollar backed by bitcoin and the other assets indirectly.

Something like that could never become a law, no matter who the president of the US was. How are you going to support a national currency (any) with something as extremely volatile as Bitcoin? Although it is not the same, but let's remember how the experiment of that South Korean scammer ended - he backed his "stablecoin" with Bitcoin and everything went to hell.

In addition, RFK Jr. continues his campaign as an independent candidate, and although all kinds of miracles happen in the US when it comes to politics - I think that his already small chances have decreased even more.
1048  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Ferrari introduced BTC payment option for their cars on: October 14, 2023, 10:18:10 AM
I wonder if it's just a coincidence or if the guys from Ferrari read what Honda did and concluded "why not add that payment method?". However, one should not expect that such a decision will affect the price of BTC, because although I have no doubt that a few luxury cars will be sold for BTC, it will still be a very small percentage, considering that in general, a very small percentage of people own BTC at all.

In addition, even in 2018, in some parts of the world (Japan), you could buy luxury cars for Bitcoin, and I really don't know if this possibility still exists today.

1049  Other / Meta / Re: It is bad to use AI to help my post quality improve? on: October 14, 2023, 09:56:58 AM
If I wanted to read AI diarrhea, I wouldn't need Bitcointalk. I want to read from humans, that's what forums were created for.
What's next? Only AIs posting and only AIs reading? What's the point?

AI has spread so much into every pore of society that it is quite normal for some to use it on this forum as well, but that is nothing new because it did not start happening yesterday, it has been present for years. Who remembers that @fillippone started a discussion on that topic back in 2020?

Although artificial intelligence brings some benefits to today's society, anyone who uses it in a way to create some content and then presents it as his own work is just an ordinary plagiarist.

At the same time, I don't think that the OP belongs to that group of people if he just wants to correct his spelling mistakes, but why use AI if he already mentions some tools that can do it without AI interfering in the whole thing?
1050  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: how many halvings have you witnessed? on: October 13, 2023, 02:13:37 PM
I am yet to witness any halving and the purported bull run that accompanies it. This is the reason for this topic. I want to ask people that have witnessed many halvings if there has been a halving that was not accompanied by a bull run.
~snip~

As if there have been 30 halvings so far and not just 3, so we can make some meaningful conclusions on the basis of which someone should be satisfied with the answer. What is evident is that the price of BTC increases less and less after each halving and therefore it would be realistic to expect that the next halving will not cause more than x3 compared to the last ATH ($69k).

Everything anyone writes is just guesswork and mere speculation, as anyone can hope for a positive outcome, there is always the possibility that history will not repeat itself.
1051  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Can CEX, institutional investors, whales, hinder or halt the growth of Bitcoin? on: October 13, 2023, 01:50:50 PM

If what Caroline Ellison said is true then how successful was Sam Bankman-Fried in keeping the price below $20,000?

She (or anyone else in a similar situation) will say anything to save her own skin, and shift as much blame as possible to her boyfriend or whatever. Even if it is true that Bankman tried something like that, the fact is that he failed to keep his company afloat, let alone that he was able to influence the price of Bitcoin. People like Bankman are usually obsessed with controlling everything around them, it's just a question of how successful they can be in that, and from his example it is evident that he made all possible wrong moves that he could make.

Manipulations have always been a part of the market, and we should not live in the illusion that they do not happen when it comes to Bitcoin, which is very suitable for such things when it comes to trading.
1052  Other / Meta / Re: Forum Search Do Not Work - Only Old Results - Admin Complete Fail And Sleep on: October 13, 2023, 01:21:24 PM
Judging from his forum history, OP seems to have quite the knack for pointing fingers at admins for all sorts of stuff. It's beginning to resemble more of an obsession at this point.

He is still young and green, but he will learn with time - and maybe in the meantime we will get a new forum where everything will work as it should and everyone will be happy and satisfied Wink
1053  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Do you ever feel tired of waiting? on: October 13, 2023, 10:35:21 AM
The problem is precisely that most people are waiting for something to happen because they are only interested in profit, and the frustrations you mention are most expressed precisely at a time when the price of BTC is relatively stable. I stopped thinking that way a long time ago because it simply does not lead anywhere, and instead you should try to live without high expectations and accept that you cannot influence the price of BTC.

In addition, if you believe that the four-year cycle is still something that is in play, then you have no reason to be frustrated because we are still in the accumulation phase and everything that is currently happening has already happened several times, only the numbers were different. I well remember how frustrated people were during 2015 when the price of BTC was just above $200 and some said it would never reach $1000 again, but look where we are today Wink

I'm not quite thinking of cashing out; I'm not too bothered by its current price, although it wouldn't hurt seeing my Bitcoin double in value. However, I've never seen the market so stale, thus the frustration. This period has been great for accumulation, and the low prices have tremendously assisted.

You registered on the forum as far back as 2014 (I only in mid-2015), but I think you mentioned somewhere that you weren't really active at the beginning, so you missed everything that happened during 2015 and 2016, and it looked pretty much like it looks today (except the numbers were different). All you need is to change the way you think, and see these periods as an opportunity, not something to be frustrated about.

I assume that your sig campaign pays you fixed in $, which means that with a low price of BTC you actually get more BTC, and that in the long term this is not a bad thing, but quite the opposite. In every let's call it "negativity" you can always find something positive, enjoy every new day because the time we have is really something precious that you can't buy regardless of the price of BTC.
1054  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: My more than 2 bitcoins got stolen just 2 days ago. on: October 13, 2023, 10:22:13 AM
Yeah, that's my only hope there. But it will help only if the police will work on this. And at the moment they do not.
~snip~

I hope that your police will do something, even though it seems that they are not interested in the case or maybe they don't even understand what it is exactly about. In that case, it might be wise to seek the help of a lawyer, who again should be a person who at least somewhat understands what it is about and could convince the police to take some steps.

Another piece of advice in case someone offers you "professional help" in returning funds, be very careful with that and don't pay anyone anything in advance - they are mostly scammers who take advantage of victims like you.
1055  Other / Meta / Re: Forum Search Do Not Work - Only Old Results - Admin Complete Fail And Sleep on: October 13, 2023, 10:04:16 AM
There are many forum users, which use search option in the forum, but search results must be true. I searched for Coinomi wallet, which have Bitcoin and multi altcoin transfers and get results in 5 pages from ~2014 - 2017 years, but not the newest ones, for example, this one from August 29, 2023

Forum search is not perfect and those who have been on the forum for a long time know this well, but if you want to search the forum effectively, you should know how to do it. In the specific case, you are interested in a wallet called by a certain name, and instead of searching the entire forum, why not search in a specific part of the forum where there is a discussion about wallets?

For the test, visit the following link and enter the keyword "Coinomi wallet" in the forum search engine and view the results. You will get 2 pages of search results that will include the latest results related to that wallet.

~snip~
So forum search option in fact do not work due to admin fault and sleep. If the forum search engine is rate limited, it is also forum admin fault and nothing more.

An admin/s is not someone who is on this forum 24 hours a day, but a person who has his own personal life, which includes work, family, sleep and everything that ordinary people do in life. At the same time, you have a completely free service to use this forum and all its possibilities, but unfortunately you have not learned to use it correctly.
1056  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Scammed by LegendaryAccss on: October 12, 2023, 02:06:19 PM
I will just say that those who sell and those who buy BTT accounts are equally guilty, especially when someone buys such an account and has a clear warning of what can happen to him. I tagged that account at the beginning of the year, like many others who still sell BTT accounts on this forum.
1057  Economy / Digital goods / Re: WTB used bitcoin wallet Wallets that had a Bitcoin balance bef block #556759. on: October 12, 2023, 01:25:56 PM
I know there are some countries that have different rules for some things that have been in your possession for more then 5 years for tax accounting.
~snip~

There are also examples where you don't have to pay anything at all if you can prove that you came into possession of the cryptocurrency before a certain date. Let's say that I have some cryptocurrency that was acquired before 2016 and I can prove it, I wouldn't have to pay any tax - although I don't have to pay it even if I buy and keep crypto-currencies for more than 2 years.

Considering the few posts that the OP wrote, it seems to me that he has other plans, although I'm not sure that he knows exactly what he wants.

1059  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: My more than 2 bitcoins got stolen just 2 days ago. on: October 12, 2023, 12:43:06 PM
@mbLI, most of the victims come to terms with the fact that they were hacked and that their coins disappeared without a trace, but I think that you should still try to find out something and if you're lucky, maybe you can return some or all of the funds that were stolen from you.

When I mention luck, I mostly mean that your hacker made a mistake somewhere in the steps and maybe even used his real data on that CEX. That would be really stupid, but not all hackers are intelligent enough to know how to hide their tracks. What is "good" in the whole matter is that you are obviously not the only victim, and if investigations are opened in several countries, the chances increase that the hacker will still be discovered.

As for the reason you were hacked, now you know that the seed (backup) should never be stored on devices that have access to the internet.
1060  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: I'm a newbie and i don't understand how this forum works. on: October 12, 2023, 12:19:57 PM
Good day everyone, I'm still a newbie to this forum and I'm yet to understand how the platform works, and I'd like to get helpful tips on how to get started, so I'm asking the senior members of the forum for assistance.

Why ask the same question again if you already got the answer/s?

Am a newcomer here please help and guide.

I don't understand if the problem is that you don't understand how the forum works, you have some doubts about what Bitcoin actually is, or you were told that you can make some money here and now you're wondering how to do it?
