1961  Other / Meta / Re: How I can get high rank in BitcoinTalk ? on: April 05, 2022, 11:37:26 AM
Hello everybody

Can someone please explain to ne how The rank works and how i can make my rank level high ?
I need High rank for my business marketing

Thank you all for help  Wink
So if your intentions of ranking up are solely limited to business marketing then you can simply do what @Charles-Tim have suggested you to do i.e. buy copper membership of the forum which will give you certain advantages like you can post images immediately without having to wait to rank upto junior rank with 30 activity and 1 merit.

But if you want to rank up as member to this community then you need to contribute with what you know related to bitcoin, share your thoughts and exchange of knowledge here over the forum. This is best way as your knowledge will also grow but don't be in haste as everything will take time.Regular learning and forum participation will help you achieve your target but if your goals are just business then go the other way around.

But what business you want to promote over the forum with high rank? You will also need trust and feedback for business promotion so you can check out this thread for your help:

LoyceV's Beginners guide to correct use of the Trust system

But do have a look at the forum rules with links posted above to have an idea about how to post on the forum without any violations of rules.
1962  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Watch out for Fake Trezor Suite! on: April 05, 2022, 11:14:16 AM

This seems to bear a lot of resemblance to the HubSpot hack I posted about a couple of weeks ago here: Another day, another data leak - more phishing likely

Access gained through an employee's account, gaining access to a large number of corporate accounts, focusing on crypto related businesses and clients, mass phishing emails rapidly following the breach. I wonder if the two are related through more than just timing?

Regardless, it gives a clear picture of what centralized services are doing with your data - handing it off to a bunch of third parties and doing no due diligence whatsoever in to those third parties' security. You can expect this kind of behavior from sketchy entities like BlockFi, but you expect better from hardware wallet manufacturers.
Yes i was also astonished to see that another employee id was used in hacking the data of the customers and this time the target is big corporates who must be having million of users but the fact is they won't disclose it easily to the public in order to maintain their reputation in the market and profitability could be affected.

There was past vulnerability in Trezor wallet through which one youtuber was able to hack it and get $2 million also which i remembered and he said the PIN and key were copied and moved to RAM which he used as hacking techniques. But after it was viped out.

These companies depending on the third party softwares are already going into full risk of data breach anytime the company is hacked like this one or employee selling the information to some hackers for money.Using these services always have a risk and the main problem is people's fund are at stake.

More common things in these attacks are they are performing slowly to tackle the situation as in this case they have known this one on 26th March that some bad actor was gaining access to the software they should have taken instant actions to detect the fraud sending notice to all their clients to be safe and issue warning.Recently Ronin network was hacked for $625 million and they were unaware about it for 5 days until one person tries to withdraw 5k ETH so what security levels they all are having? Seriously these phising attacks are increasing like the first one for Ledger and now Trezor.

Let’s see if there are reports on the keylogger (and RAT) are confirmed, which would make it quite a sophisticated phishing+malware combo attack. I’d have expected BleepingComputer to have detected it by now, as they are normally quite thorough in their tests.
This attack was more of well executed phising attack as they got access to the API and then mailing list directly without accessing the MailChimps customer portal.

Quote
These credentials were used to access 319 MailChimp accounts and to export "audience data," likely mailing lists, from 102 customer accounts.

The bleeping computers will investigate the matter in detail but they also need to inquire from the trezor and Mailchimp about this hack first of all and as per their latest article they have not heard back from them.

Meantime, we’ve got some alleged cases of victims. This one claims having lost 55K quids to the phishing:
There will be many more with such amounts and this hack might be big until we have the real amounts disclosed but don't think it will be public.Have also seen many people on twitter complaining about the Trezor hack so don't know how many have lost funds.

I wish there was a perfect way to make everyone understand seed phrases should be taken care of as much as you would take care of a credit card.  You do not give the credentials to a stranger who is asking you for it.  You do not put these things into a random website or software.  This should be the FIRST thing a Cryptocurrency newbie has to learn and be continuously reminded of.
Self awareness is necessary to be safe from these scams and you need to be educated and technically updated also.Like you said about credit cards then people know that they don't need to share their PIN or CCV number on the back with anyone but have seen many people still falling for fake calls asking for details as your bank account is linked to mobile.Or they fill out it on some fake websites which is why they loose funds.Same is the need here with your seeds but it should have proper back-up offline without sharing it with anyone.Your cards lost can be blocked and issued new one's but there's no such thing with seeds so be sure not to loose them.

This is the worst part of these recent scams.  I mean even the YouTube and Twitter ones.  You do not even have to steal money from someone by yourself.  The victims are literally giving them access to their own coins or are sending the coins by themselves, using their own hands.  Only thing that is able to fix this problem is education and some minimum level of paranoia we all should have.  You just NEVER give your seed up to a software, you NEVER type your Hardware Wallet seed through anything except the Hardware Wallet itself.  Be cautious, for God sake!

-
Regards,
PrivacyG
Actually i would say that hackers are trying new methods in these types of hacks that most newbies and even old users have no idea about the hacks like in this one. They have also the phishing warning on the top of page to make it look legit :

But there were many fake things like domain name, signing not with Satoshi labs and enter your seeds and then they must have used keylogger as discussed above to do this scam.So you see how well they are managing these scams to make you fool. But it must be kept in mind that you don't need to give your seeds or fill out them anywhere until you investigate the matter in detail. The hackers take one step but the main security is compromised on our end by giving them access to wallets or seeds. This needs to be spread awareness among mass to tackle these scams.

Judging by your own quote, it's the exact opposite: large withdrawals are free, small withdrawals are only free once a day.
Thanks for pointing it out as there was error in writing up and there was misstatement but now it has been edited according to what is written in quote.

YAY! Thank you so much for helping me out.  Wink

1965  Other / Meta / Re: Buying copper membership on: April 05, 2022, 09:55:03 AM
Why don't you use your own non-custodial wallet and send coins directly instead of using Binance or other centralized exchanges?
This way you will probably pay less fees and you will have more control over your coins.
I was also thinking that's the best way to pay for the membership from your own wallets but maybe he is more comfortable using the exchange directly to pay for it along with the fees if he use Binance or Kraken.

If you want to save on fees from exchanges than try using FTX, I think they are not charging any fees for withdrawing Bitcoin (on mainnet).
Bitcoin withdrawls less than 0.01BTC are free and amount exceeding them is chargeable which you can check below:

Quote
Small BTC withdrawal fees: BTC withdrawals > 0.01 BTC are free. BTC withdrawals < 0.01 BTC are charged withdrawal fees after your first free one per day.

FTX withdrawal

However if you have staked FTT on their platform then you can also get some free fees waiver per day on ERC-20 tokens which you can check on their help page.

1966  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: April 04, 2022, 12:54:52 PM

There were so many talks about it whether this was staged or not and lot of debate was going over it but according to me this was the last moment aggressive behaviour made by Smith and there is possible fan explanation of this moment which i believed:

Even if you look at the video you could find that when Chris Rock smashed the GI joes joke her reaction was like she hated this comment and for some milliseconds you could also noticed that she was seeing on Smith face.I think this was comedy and should be treated as the same because there are no personal grievances at the end and have seen celebraties getting much trolled giving out laughter.

Will Smith has also issued public apology and said he can't take joke on his wife situation and the pressure could be seen that he has panicked mixed with aggression that made him slap Rock. But this is all over and our further debate can't render that few minutes.Man under some personal pressures take steps to show his love to his close one's.But this turned out to be wrong for all of them.
1967  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How secured is fingerprint lock on wallet? on: April 04, 2022, 12:41:17 PM
If you consider something like SMS or email 2FA, then such things are very insecure. Often people access these on the same device they are using to log in to the account in question (a phone). Often if one of these things is compromised, then both factors can be compromised, meaning it is not really 2FA at all. An example is an attacker gaining access to your email account; they can now send a password reset email and receive your 2FA code via email, rendering email 2FA useless.
Exactly most of the people have the apps and 2FA security on same device. The device going in wrong hands is usually risky because the 2FA code is with them,if you have some OTP based system then sim card is there and most of them have the exact mail being used in logging in to some apps which is being used in their app store or already logged in mobile. So the risk is at full level.I would recommend using proton mail for security purposes but don't forget password about them. The best is secure your device at the first stage.

2FA using a TOTP generated from a separate device (even better if this device is airgapped) is far more secure.
Although it also has certain limitations but still better than SMS security and as you said on different devices with airgapped system.

Quote
Although TOTP is more secure than SMS 2FA, it has some shortcomings in its design. For instance, TOTP codes rely on a shared secret, or “seed,” stored by both the app and the server it’s connected to. If a bad actor manages to recover the shared secret, they can generate new codes at will.

We could see if we are not using the security to otpimal levels then bad actors could easily gain access to our funds and security is compromised. But still TOTP has its own advantages. The security code changes with time to time and you can separate the accounts with names like in Google authenticator but the problem is having them on separate device because no fun of having them on same mobile phone.

More secure still is 2FA using a hardware token, such as a YubiKey. To compromise your account an attacker would need to be able to steal or brute force your password, as well as be able to physically steal your hardware key. This is exponentially more difficult than simply gaining access to an email account.

If you want more secure than passwords or codes, then a hardware key is the way to go.
That's the best thing you could use as authentication and save yourself from phising attacks because if you are using hardware devices as security purposes the risk factors already reduced unless someone gains access to you keys in real life. But you should create backup codes also in case you have lost but it should be offline.

The security features of Yubikey are far more beneficial than regular TOTP and 2FA on mails and SMS as you could have long codes setup and no need to manually type the code as you just have to press the button on the device to login.Every yubikey is also unique so you don't need to worry about it.But it should be remembered there are risk if we are careless.

Yubikey

The security can be compromised on our end but we should always focus on maximising it because once fund lost it's impossible to get them back.We need to be updated with the latest technology to some possible extent we can.
1968  Other / Meta / Re: Who has the highest IQ and who has the lowest IQ ? on: April 04, 2022, 11:41:53 AM
Highest: o_e_l_e_o

Lowest: Somebody dumb as hell, who cares.
This made me laugh because both the titles were in his name  Grin and you need some special skills to grab the trophies on Hall of fame and Shame at time

Funfact: @o_e_l_e_o become user who has the highest and also the lowest IQ
So when can I expect my profile badge certifying me as simultaneously the smartest and the dumbest person on the forum? Tongue

There you go.
BTW not everyone was sincere while doing the "IQ test" so the results won't be real.
I'm sure 99% of the people searched for at least 1 answer, as those questions were quite "English" related (at least were my questions) and if you are not native speaker you just gonna gamble.
I would agree with you that most members have googled the answer but this is fine because this was fun sort of concept on April fools tradition over the forum.I have answered only 3 questions which I know and then leave the game for other participants but appreciate you that you are accepting the fact you have cheated by getting the questions you could answer.

But there will be many who has scored really well by getting the answer of those tough questions feotthe net because it was impossible to know all of them to score high. But at the end this was fun for everyone and we should concentrate on our regular posting and making forum a better place. This was all fun with the members participation.
1969  Other / Meta / Re: The Officially Unofficial Bitcointalk IQ Leaderboards and Statistics™ on: April 04, 2022, 11:29:16 AM
I hit 189 but got the next question wrong & fell to 179. At that point I walked away from the table Cheesy
I guess 4th place isn’t too bad. Now what are the prizes, theymos? Wink

All good fun, thanks guys.
Yes being in top 5 of hall of fame must be interesting and joy to feel even if we take this as April fool day prank because the questions were too tough and not related to forum or bitcoin so scoring above 160 is well according to me.I am also in top 500 so some consolation prizes for me as well? Grin

Just for fun

@theymos and other members who organised this event after seeing members IQ level, those being serious about this IQ implementation and others :

My understanding of how the algorithm worked is that the further your score from 100, if you answered a question in a way such that your score will move even further from 100, the effect will decline each time you answer a question that way. It was not the questions that were getting more difficult. The questions and their answers are part of a public dataset that anyone could access (and search).

I was referring to having the scores change without the person posting nor answering any questions.
I think the algorithm was set-up that as your IQ level goes up the questions become tough while having the upper limit of 200 and lower of 0 and you get less IQ points with each answer right to make it more interesting.I personally answered only 3-4 questions and my IQ was 127.After that i didn't care to stress up my brain as the ban warning was now over for me Grin

So you see the first few rounds give you good points based on the level of difficulty of question i guess so because it was random. But if you were not answering the IQ was constant which i noticed in my case on personal behalf but didn't know if there were some changes at last moment.

Is there slight delay in loading up the Rollbit side on your end also or I am facing this problem today? I was Just loading the leaderboard page and it took slight delay than usual on my end so just want to ask? The Rollbit boss is wagering aggressively even after going above $1 billion in bets and have wagered total of $1,231,018,600 and have win $1,480,000 as daily rewards only which is insane according to me.Was just following the leaderboard to be updated with it.

I really like this guess the bitcoin price on specific date contest from Bitcasino and the prizes are also exciting. We are normally also gambling but if we bet out funds on this one and get predictions chances each day.If someone gets close to the exact amount he could get 100mbtc from the pool which is really cool. This event made me realise of @El duderino_ 's Summer dip event in which many members participated. Will see who's going to have that prediction right. 1972  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: How can I fix this problem on: April 04, 2022, 10:35:21 AM
What is the best thermal grease for GPU and PAD? I have a 3080s that won't stop heating up, I had to stop mining when the miner shows that the memory temp is up to 102°C, I heard this temp isn't safe for GPU.
See I am personally not into mining and don't have the idea about it but you could ask your doubt here for having really better options from the miners themselves. They use lot of stuff to cool down the temperature because mining generates lot of heat and if proper cooling is not maintained it could heat up the parts and damage them.

The thermal grease is sometimes pre-applied on devices to automatically cool them but it's not according to the mining process and you also need to change them from time to time as they got consumed with time and heat from the device.

You can check this site which can help you with links to buy them online: Thermal grease

Or you can check this thread : https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=3570906.20

You are mining which coin by the way?
1973  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Watch out for Fake Trezor Suite! on: April 04, 2022, 10:23:42 AM
Whether they outsource their marketing needs to some third party company or host the email servers themselves, there is always a centralized aspect of things and that can be attacked. There will always be people who operate and maintain these servers or do other work in their vicinity. The chances of someone turning bad are equally the same if they work for Trezor (in this case) or a third party who offers certain services. An angry or dissatisfied employee or more of them is all that is needed to cause havoc. We have seen it with Shopify and now with MailChimp.
Hosting the data to any third party is easily prone to hacks or we could say they often involve themselves into selling of this information so we can't trust these services but as you see in this case Trezor outsourced this service to MailChimp and they were targeted by insider crypto trading company. We have witnessing similar cases most often now a days where these centralised service providers will come with that their servers were hacked or employee id was compromised resulting in the data breaches.Like recently we have seen HubSpot phising attack resulting in customers getting similar mails.

But the point is the hackers can't even access your funds if you are aware and keen observer of these fake links like in this one dot after e and com which was the fake trezor suite. Moreover the original one won't ask for your keys but if you have downloaded the wrong one it's your mistake on your end as these third party or centralised services can't be fully trusted.

- A file called  "Trezor-Suite-22.4.0-win-x64.exe" is downloaded. The file is signed by "Neodym Oy" instead of the usual "Satoshi Labs, s.r.o." signature.
Yeah they have already spotted the difference by which this fake app attempted to scam the people as the legit one is linked to Satoshi labs as you can see in this image:

It's hard for people to spot the difference if they are unaware about these minor details and then proceed on to next step of entering your seed phrases which you are unintentionally giving to the hackers who will have access to your funds then.

The Trezor app is working with the cyber cell to investigate the matter and has said they are not communicating with any newsletter until the situation is cleared and don't respond to the any of them while they have brought down some of the scam domains:

Although the data is still not cleared and it might not be shown in exact numbers but still we can presume many have fall prey for this phising scam attempt and lost funds which can be taken as idea from this tweet:

People needs to bookmark the official pages and atleast once do proper investigation after they received certain mails before jumping into conclusions and downloading the malicious apps which are scam attempts to hack their seeds and funds. So those who have not download it be safe.

1974  Economy / Reputation / Re: A Bitcointalk accounts seller advertising on: April 02, 2022, 03:15:01 PM
Tagged. I know it's not worthy to tag a newbie account offering Bitcointalk account sales, but there should be a warning that would be read by others. Likely he will create another account to advertise his account sales. We can't prevent them from actually creating multiple accounts. Most likely he is a scammer, asking for upfront payment. And other accounts would be hacked or botted. Everyone should avoid dealing with that guy.
For sure members can be awared if they see the negative trust ratings for these account sellers and don't involve in any business with them. This is the step we can take in the interest of forum members but have seen that sometimes newbies in hope of getting bounties and signature campaign on the forum might get attracted to these scams without giving notice to these tags and get scammed. So they need to be extra cautious with them and work on their own without involving in any shortcut.

Considering how unlikely it would be in my opinion, that o_solo_miner is for sale, you might be correct.
Yeah if you are saying you know the local board member then it could be the perfect scam case. This is the only way to attract some newbies by directing them towards such accounts mostly from local boards.Like this account is 2014 registered with 1346 merit and positive trust rating also.Once he got the payment he will not respond at all to the PM and scam will be executed.

My concern

You did well by identifying this unethical business in the forum but I have these two concerns;
1. You have indirectly advertised the supposed account sellers business. Especially with links to it, he can possibly have more customers or victims.
You can say he has also warned members to stay away from him and see he also got tagged by some members which would hinder his scam business.

Do you think he would not have reached others through the PM service as they message almost members to catch any one victim. There are some similar ways by which they approach you like this one in the past :

This is just one of those reference of these scams they want to conduct and will try to ask you to join them through PM also but if exposed the way @OP has then negative and red flags on their profile could surely put hit to their scam business. So this is not indirect advertising but exposing them to protect the newbie users from losing their money.

Assholes like this one who's selling a whole bunch of different accounts couldn't give a crap about this forum and probably not any forum or platform.  I tagged him, but it's unlikely to do any good since he's a newbie with only 13 posts.  Thanks to OP for pointing this out, however--it's better that members like him get painted red as fast as possible no matter what effect it may have.
Before the implementation of merit system there were many who were into this account selling business even the legendary rank and you could easily join the campaigns as post could be reported to moderators but controlling spam at this level was not so effective. But after merit system we have seen less of these account selling as if you don't have knowledge then it's no fun of having account on forum. But yes they should be immediately tagged so that others take it as warning not to do any scam selling although it's allowed but it's still discouraged.

This is crazy though and this is the probably the first NFT that ever announced that you could reroll the NFT if you are unsatisfied with it. Some people are speculating that this is useless because people will be just swapping their junk NFT through the reroll function but yeah if you literally get the most basic bot then atleast the reroll is going to work in your favour
They have really nice marketing strategy to grab the first mover advantage through these different NFT approach like they were first to integrate Rollbots with on casino benefits and now this re-roll is something really excited. You can swap your rollbots and can have chance to acquire with more rare traits would be priority for most of the holders.
1976  Economy / Gambling / Re: Bitcasino.io 💜 — 1st licensed crypto casino 🥇 Change the way you play 🚀 on: April 02, 2022, 02:34:38 PM
I would say set-up proper budget plan for yourself like say a month and never put extra money to them because it means you have lost your budgeted amounts and now you are going above the limits which can take you to become addicted towards it.So avoid this practice as much you can.Cash out the winnings and play with planned amount which is my way of playing but you all have to decide for yourself.
Aside from withdrawing the winnings, I do exactly this method. I wager 50 months a month, and that means if it ends, then I stop, if it ends on the very first day (which I do not wager that much but let's assume) that means I will not wager 29 days of that month, and that's how I make myself limited and do it to myself instead of waiting for the casino to do that.

However, if I turn that 50 into 500, then I would keep gambling with it, and I could lose it, by the start of the month if I still have more than 50, then I do not deposit more that month and just keep that going as long as I have to. That's the most important part for me.
Yeah we could have different styles of playing but the important part is to manage your funds effectively and using them in best possible manner so that you don't exceed your limitations.

For me take example if i have $100 to bet for a month say then there are some of my favourite slots on which i would bet with normal bets of around $1-$2 and even if the outcome is loss then i would keep betting on some others. If there is profit of say $30-$40 small one's taking into consideration only then i would withdraw them and keeping the amount consistent for $100 and save them to play on some events like some wagering events with exciting rewards so the winning pool amounts are dedicated to them.If not then use them for personal use.But never cross your set limits or the amount which you can't afford to loose.

The first one is generous merit source and member of foxpop merit cycling club who has helped many members to rank up to their next rank with his merit showers @Pharmacist :

5100 merit looks really cool and becoming member of the 5k merit club and 14th on most merit charts. So congratulations to you man for achieving this milestone by helping others also.

The second one is for our forum adminstrator @theymos who has broken the merit wall yesterday with his IQ prank announcement. He has gained 9500 merits on his profile getting close to 10k club along with @LoyceV and @o_e_l_e_o :

Or theymos: something tells me he'll earn a lot of Merit next week.

Ah here comes finally the most awaited moment on the forum the April's fool day new announcement from you and this time you have setup something really good and we can see the whole lot of conversation going for it.

Have managed to somehow hit my brain hard and taking extra caffeine to boost my mind and match the genius over the forum  Grin

This was the thing @LoyceV and others were talking about the other day :

Or theymos: something tells me he'll earn a lot of Merit next week.

I had a thought about that last week. I love extrapolating, and I see me eaten by a merit wall. I will for sure contribute to.
Maybe this year he will do a new April’s fool: no April’s fool! The forum will look absolutely normal and we will be considering it a glitch in the matrix.

So they were guessing it right as @theymos is going to crack the merit wall with this new joke which many are taking seriously  Grin

My attempts to get myself down to zero have failed as random picks have resulted in getting the right answers.

Am I only subconsciously intelligent?
Maybe you got some freaking super human powers that have vanished your discrepancy of going to that low level of IQ and your random one's are also right Grin

Selling iQ now  Grin
Can you trade some shitcoins for it?
