201  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] SpreadCoin | Decentralize Everything (decentralized blockexplorer coming) on: December 08, 2016, 05:23:20 PM
I can't guarantee it, but I'm going to put some extra hours in today/tonight to have yet another video ready by tomorrow. I hope.

I fucking love this community.  Grin

You guys deserve it!

With all the patron saints in my life now... work is fun!!!!
202  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] SpreadCoin | Decentralize Everything (decentralized blockexplorer coming) on: December 08, 2016, 04:53:02 PM
I have no confidence in them.  I have far more in you, or I wouldnt be doing what I do.  The stuff you and Coins101 speak is nice.  And rhinomonke to countercheck.  This is a nice project, or I wouldn't be here

Thanks, your input is highly valued.

BTW, speaking of the devil... where is Coins101?

He's missing the party!  Grin
203  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] SpreadCoin | Decentralize Everything (decentralized blockexplorer coming) on: December 08, 2016, 04:38:29 PM
BTW @just2laff, rhinomonkey, pokeytex and sugarfly

Please tell me your favorite altcoins (next to SPR and BTC ofcourse) that you want to see listed in the spreadwallet rightaway.

If I had it my way, we wouldn't tap into my "favorite coins" necessarily. For instance I like Shadowcash, but I'm not sure strategically it's the best option. I would have you focus on more popular coins so as to tap into their communities. I'm not entirely sure which those may be... DASH?

You are right, I will probably go with a mixture between popularity and (technical) exceptionality.

E.g. I am adding LTC / DOGE because of the AUX-POW relationship (merge-mining) they have, which is highly interesting to dissect and visualize (which LTC blocks have provided POW for which DOGE blocks, etc...)

(Still, my offer still stands, if one of my patrons wants a specific altcoin listed, just tell me about it.)
204  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] SpreadCoin | Decentralize Everything (decentralized blockexplorer coming) on: December 08, 2016, 04:17:51 PM
BTW, if someone wants to make an anonymous donation, just tell me.
I will ofcourse not always announce every donation loudly in public, lol.
Except if you want me to!
205  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] SpreadCoin | Decentralize Everything (decentralized blockexplorer coming) on: December 08, 2016, 04:12:25 PM
BTW @just2laff, rhinomonkey, pokeytex and sugarfly

Please tell me your favorite altcoins (next to SPR and BTC ofcourse) that you want to see listed in the spreadwallet rightaway.

Dissecting an altcoin (it's specifics, network messages, behaviour etc) as part of "altcoin taxonomy" takes up some time, and is an ongoing process, and I don't want to waste it on altcoins that none of my patrons find useful right now!

Currently I am hard-coding "altcoin-genetics" like this:

Code:

This data structure will get way more detailled and extensive in the future. Many parameters are still missing.
At some point this data will be placed outside the program as a configuration file (XML).
People will then have the possibility to add their own coins if they have specific ("complete") knowledge about its "internals".

But right now I need to give any altcoin the proper screening/dissection to be able to make it run within the spreadwallet.
It's literally like biological taxonomy.
Some coins are so related with each other that they only differ in one byte.
Others deviate quite a bit from each other...
206  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] SpreadCoin | Decentralize Everything (decentralized blockexplorer coming) on: December 08, 2016, 03:37:48 PM
 Cool
LMAO, I love how all the ICO-defenders suddenly pop up,
just because someone dares to play the game by different rules.

I'm enjoying this.  Cheesy

The real peoples backing is very limited here to find a few who would be willing to join in with ur patronage. In the final end, none other but u will be sending donations to preview ur own commits.  Wink Haha. Better do what XBC has done. Coins in dev possession should be translated to an exchange and sold out as regular ICO proceeds from which should then be pooled together to fund developments.

That such a tiny community like that of spreadcoin still manages to bring in the kind of support that I've seen is very promising and disproves everything you said.
Imagine what will happen once I branch out a little bit and connect with other altcoin communities?

After all, the spreadwallet IS a multicoin project.
The spreadminer will be a multicoin project.
And servicenodes will have multicoin-ability at their core.

Who do you think will fund spreadwallet's support for monero or ethereum?
We here?

Think again!  Cool

Even failed ICOs are bringing in more than $100,000 which is far, far more than you will likely get through patronage.

That's what I don't understand about ICOs, lol.
How can something that has failed still bring in money?
Sounds horribly anti-capitalistic to me.
I don't wanna have any part in this.

All hail our top patron!

(I will write it down as 75$. Thanks again.)

Btw - very nice preview video!

The ancient alliance between hedgehogs and hamsters has been further reinforced!

(I will count this donation as 70$)

What do you guys think of this "patronage" idea:

210  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] SpreadCoin | Decentralize Everything (decentralized blockexplorer coming) on: December 08, 2016, 02:24:18 AM

Thanks for the video Georgem, those visuals are quite cool! Can't wait to see it all running on my computer.  Grin

Then you will like the "patreon"-style funding idea that I'm currently drafting. (I'm still figuring it out, will talk about it later)

I want to involve people like you (who have contributed substantial donations) more directly/deeply in the further development.
This means you will receive regular preview versions that you can run on your computer and directly give me your feedback/input as we progress.

That's the least I can do in return for your help.

Maybe that's how we have to fund this:
"Patronage" with me giving increasing benefits/gimmicks to the patrons the more they support me.

Uff, I'm too tired right now to write reasonable sentences.... will talk later.

Stay tuned!  Smiley

Any word from Bittrex?

I just wrote bittrex yet another email, with a link to the new video.
Not sure if they just didn't have time yet to react, or not interested in general.
Let's see.

Anyway, I would like to invite you guys to write them an email too!

Send them a short email to support@bittrex.com and tell them how much you love SPR and that it would be a bad decision for them to remove the coin.

If possible, please do this today!

Thanks guys!

I do have a small video ready (without commentary), demonstrating one aspect of the upcoming spreadwallet.

What happens in the video:
The spreadwallet will connect with 5 altcoins simultaneously (SPR, BTC, LTC, PPC and EMC) through "SPV connections".
(TCPSockets that connect with full nodes of these coins and ask for headers through the getheaders message)

As the blocks are downloaded and become available within the wallet I visualize them in real time.

Enjoy!

(click picture to open vimeo)

Will have more updates ready soon.

EDIT: BTW sorry for the crappy video quality, this can be done much better.... but I was in a hurry.

I will not go to sleep tonight until the video is released, lol.

It's one of these days...  Cool

Stay tuned.

Hmm, well they did say that if they saw there was any evidence of self trading to meet the volume requirement that they would delist it without warning. So I'm not sure that playing around with it is a great idea, unless you're actually buying or selling. They can probably monitor user balances and see the flow of money in each direction to determine if a user is buying their own coins. I'm a bit strapped for cash at the moment, so I won't be able to help out for a few days... unless I sell, which, well, I don't want to do lol.

Ok, Never mind.

I assumed that since they take a fee of 0.25% with every trade that they would be OK with self-trading. (it's basically free money for them)

But apparently they aren't.

What bothers me, isn't that an attack vector in itself?

What if some dude (e.g. the ISIS asshole) start self-trading SPR/BTC like crazy for the next 4 days.... ?
And then they delist us because of that? lol

Anyway, update video coming in a few hours.

Stay tuned.
216  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] SpreadCoin | Decentralize Everything (decentralized blockexplorer coming) on: December 05, 2016, 07:53:16 PM
If SPR gets relegated to only being on Yobit, I will be selling everything.  Roll Eyes

If it's volume they want, we should give them exactly that.

Hey, if you got some SPR to "waste", you could easily create the necessary volume.

If 10 others do the same.... voila!

I'll be adding some extra trading activity for the next 4 days...  Smiley

See you all at bittrex.

(haven't heard back from them yet)

Glad to see Trex taking good decisions ; they don't need to dead coins, isn't it, georgem ? Wink

Running full nodes seems to be the focal point of the scaling issue.

https://letstalkbitcoin.com/blog/post/lets-talk-bitcoin-315-biting-through

Gotta love Roger Ver.
I listen closely to what he has to say.
He's sitting on the cusp of this whole scaling issue.
