General question on forum / thread etiquette. It's new to me, so I'm asking.
Let's say some users are clearly competitors trolls. Should I call them out or not ?

The question doesn't refer to the post above

Depends on what you mean by calling them out.

If a competitor/troll says something untrue about your company you should feel free to correct him.

If it is opinionated or something not factual (like who will ship preorders first) I would ignore it.
Thank you.
Is it ok to describe a simple technique to find out who are probably the trolls ?

Can we keep the discussion professional ?

If Spondoolies delivers in July/August they will be by far the best company until now and i have a feeling that they will...
We will. Little info on how we're working:
We're implementing Intel's Tick Tock model (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Intel_Tick-Tock) with 4 months cycle.
Our 2nd gen is a relative simple project, since it's a die shrink (40nm -> 28nm) of our 1st gen engine.
The SP30 system design uses very similar design techniques as our SP10. Nothing fancy. Nothing extreme.
The risk of complications is minimal.

Our 3rd gen is a complete new architecture with higher risk. We won't take pre-orders for our 3rd gen systems.

PRE-ORDER model that funds development ...
RockerBox ASIC (our 2nd gen ASIC inside SP30) development wasn't funded from pre-orders.

Sorry, I was speaking in general, not a specific reference to one of your products. Funding is critical of course, but even the best capitalized technology companies in the world, the big guys, are notoriously late to market for pre-announced products. Delivery dates should always be taken with a grain of salt. I wish you much success. Cheers.
Thank you. We took enough buffers to make sure the delivery will be on time. We took very small numbers of orders for July to make sure we'll be able to fulfill all.
2047  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [ANN] Spondoolies-Tech launches a new line of ASIC miners - Best W/GH/s ratio on: April 09, 2014, 04:08:53 PM
... They have the muts nuts of engineers / crypto / etc and were still late and unable to meet their specs.

Without getting into names, knowing the true story of what have happened with the two companies with very similar unreasonable design, I'm smiling sad smile now.
Seriously: You should have done a thorough technical due-diligence before pre-ordering from them. I'm sorry for your lost funds.

miners poem
LOL
Won't happen.

Edit: Seriously. We know what we're doing. We've implemented much more complex ASICs and systems.

Thank you.

I understand better than most. I own $1mm+ of bitcoin mining hardware.

Please contacts us at sales@spondoolies-tech.com, we'll be happy to provide bulk quantities payment terms

I've visited HashFast's office, BFL's office, CoinTerra's office and many others. It didn't keep them from being late or complete non-delivery of products.

Come meet our team.

You are selling 5Th/s unicorn machines based off the fact you have a 1.4Th machines today.

Do you have a working chip for these new unicorn blood driven machines?

Please read the thread from the beginning. The current status of the project: final net list released. Taping out in the beginning of May. ASICs arrives in July.
We're the most transparent company in this business. Come for a visit and see for yourself.

Edit: Above 5.4 TH/s based on final net list simulations.

And happy about it

...  to build 1000,2000 or as many machines as you think you could sell then sell them with 1 week delivery then build more machines and sell more, cycle continues,...
"Build more machines" - takes 3 months.
Some of you keep referring to the same Chinese manufacturer who has huge warehouses of stockpiled miners mining. From time to time, a percentage of them are being sold.
They're not being produced on the spot.
Even 55nm ASIC takes ~50 days to produce.

With SP30, the amount of capital needed to do the same is massive. Do the math.
2054  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [ANN] Spondoolies-Tech launches a new line of ASIC miners - Best W/GH/s ratio on: April 09, 2014, 03:10:09 PM

Did you guys consider that you probably would sell more hardware that is instock  then a set of pre-orders would indicate?

You have a vast larger customer base to sell to, if you dont do pre-orders..   or as gigavps indicated...   a 10% downpayment would be acceptable to me.. with a 90% payment when the hardware is READY TO SHIP.

Unfortunately, no magic wand to increase production capacity overnight. It takes 2-3 months of lead time, as explained.
We've took the risk for SP10 ahead of our launch. We can take limited quantities risk for SP30 as well.
Would it be better in your opinion to not allow pre-ordering of SP30 at all? Wait until August to sell them ?
We believe we have a compelling products and customers do want to get priority access.

As explained, different payment terms are possible for bulk quantities.
2055  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [ANN] Spondoolies-Tech launches a new line of ASIC miners - Best W/GH/s ratio on: April 09, 2014, 02:55:13 PM
It's also a matter of quantities. 1,000 batch of SP30 is doable without any particular problem.
Do you expect us to take the risk, for say, 5,000 SP30 ?
Do you understand the amounts involved ?

For bulk quantities, we do allow different payment terms. Contact as at sales@spondoolies-tech.com

Unlike other companies or semi-companies, we don't hide. Visiting our offices and production facility can be very easily arranged.
We already had visitors from around the globe.

The ONLY reason I see to take pre-orders is because you don't have the funds to order parts in mass quantity.

If I am mistaken then I would like to hear the reasons to have pre-orders at all.
You're mistaken. Ramping up production takes 2-3 months of lead time.
We did that in advance, before starting to sell (only 3 weeks ago...) for May and June batches.
We're doing it today for August and September batches.
Taking pre-orders allow us to asses quantities and optimize supply chain.
2057  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [ANN] Spondoolies-Tech launches a new line of ASIC miners - Best W/GH/s ratio on: April 09, 2014, 01:25:52 PM
stocking meaning you keep them in boxes in a warehouse ready to be shipped asap, not mining with them  Grin
Shouldn't we just shipped them the moment they're ready ?
This is exactly what we're doing...

You could use a system that fulfills both criteria.

Build your miners, and put them up for sale the moment they are ready. Then ship them as soon as they are sold.

You seem to make such small batches anyway that you should have no trouble selling them.

Win-win.
We're ramping up production as fast as we can. We're offering only the number of systems we're absolutely sure we'll be able to deliver. April batch was medium side. May and August (SP30) are much larger.
Taking pre-orders allow the customer to secure place in the shipping queue while allow us to optimize the supply line for long lead time parts (e.g. transport mechanical parts via sea vs air).
Both sides wins. Indeed it's not as straightforward deal as ordering existing product for 2-3 weeks delivery, but the upside can be much higher.

...

Why do you think 'build to order production line' is the best sales model?
Why does your company not want to make and then sell, is it lack of funding?
Why does your company not want to make and then sell, is it lack of funding?
We're very well funded, by two of Israel top VCs:
http://www.genesispartners.com/content.asp?page=portfolio
http://www.brm.com/Investments.aspx?p=10

We're building as fast as we can, test and ship.
We don't stock and mine on our customers machines.

That answers one question but not the other, you must have seen it as you removed it when you quoted my original post

Why do you think 'build to order production line' is the best sales model?

I believe that I've answered both questions.
Stocking meaning mining on customers machines. We don't want to do that.
2060  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [ANN] Spondoolies-Tech launches a new line of ASIC miners - Best W/GH/s ratio on: April 09, 2014, 11:40:29 AM
You seem an excellent company that have a proven product, I'd have no hesitation in spending a lot of money but it either needs to be in stock or delivery within 1-2 weeks so I can make an informed decision.

+1000

The margin for error in calculating a potential return on 16Th/s for August delivery is mindblowing.  Grin

We are committed to deliver the miners on time and according to the published spec. You can take this uncertainty out of the equation.

We are all long term Bitcoin believers. We're creating offers that will maximize the chance for an excellent ROI, while distributing the hash-rate and helping the ecosystem.
