We found out that dropping the SP20 package may cause the boards to shift.
We got complaints from about 2% of non palletes customers. Most of the units can be fixed at home by replacing the boards.
We halt individual package shipments for one week, until we'll solve the issue.
If you got such SP20, contact support@ for miner assembly guide. If the SP20 was actually damaged, we'll RMA.

The SP30s in the facility ran for over 2 months without an issue. The builder stated the following: Temp was super good. Sp30 did not even get hot. Just something from the outside. No insurance at all. Below is picture of the buildup before the fire.

All electrical cables in those pics seem to have melted. At the very least you'd have to assume that also applies to the inside, and includes PSU, all plastic connectors,.. You might be able to recover some boards, but IMO its not gonna be cheap or easy.
Correct.

are these sp10's? man what a mess! I don't suppose any of those could be 'salvaged' heh can see ebay already..cheap sp10's! They're SP30s and I'd think most will be salvagable after repair. Some of the cable inlets on the PSUs might need replacing and I'd think that the soot may need cleaning off internally. Other than that, should be good to go in a new location. Probably not. They're salvaging some of them. The biggest problem are the PSUs and the problematic lead time on those.

Sigh. I expected more from you. Go few pages back before posting.

... It really is quite sad to see so much hardware go to waste. I hope they can get back on their feet eventually. ...
Agree.
|
|
|
... It's a bit strange considering they could have hosted the hardware at Verne Global for half the cost of electricity in Thailand ...
Untrue. On a sidenote, I've seen your question about the evaps after RockMiner released picture of AMHash. Most of the Chinese farms started to use similar evaps after Gordon Ao (Innosilicon CEO) visited Cowboyminer facility early this year. http://instagram.com/p/uh-HlvBDS7/vs

Im surprised its in Thailand. They dont have good electrical rate at all.
My guess would be laundering money for triangle drug lords ( Myanmar, Cambodia and Thailand).
ding ding ! I bet that's what it is as well. ... Again ? Please stop it. I can't reveal customers information, but it's complete nonsense. Their electricity cost was ~7 US cents for KW/h and they had planned to reduce it to below 6 US cents. One of the oldest ASICs mega mine in the business. https://bitcointa.lk/threads/ann-cowboyminer-hosting-your-1th-s-a1-dragon-miners-at-excellent-rates.322187/

Whatever.

NO. Europeans that relocated to Bangkok and having fun. Good people. ofcourse ppl that deal with you must look legit. you think they would invite you to their fort with armed guard? Please stop the conspiracy theories. Payments were done in BTC. I know their story. Again, good people. Bad luck. Guy

DC's will be thinking twice before allowing people to host this gear now, at least at unrealistic densities. Imports may receive greater scrutiny.
I'm not thinking twice about it. I bet the fire started in their electrical infrastructure -- transformer, distribution panel, etc -- not in a power supply or a miner. There's not much flammable material inside a miner. However, they may have installed a transformer near to a wood wall, then overloaded the transformer or wired it up without adequate fuse protection. The buildup was definitely not according to US electric code

It was a cowboy DC though, no reputable DC would rack them at those density levels. They were asking for trouble. Plus the entire thing most probably including the wiring was done all on the cheap to maximise profitability. They just took it too far in the density stakes and overloaded their wiring it looks like. I wrote it before - source of the fire is yet unknown. Arson wasn't ruled out. AFAIK, no insurance. It was in Thai news: http://www.thairath.co.th/content/456629Sad story, good people. Very bad luck with mining. It's not the first mishap. I've visited their facility when they had only SP10 and Dragons. I was impressed. Guy

SP-T, did the owner contact you regarding this?
Yes. We're helping to recover some of the SP30s. The source of the fire is yet unknown. A lot of other miners were consumed in the fire as well. Edit: James guessed correctly. Guy

Guy has still not contacted me regarding my refund/compensation.
It is becoming frustrating now e-mailed them again and again every day.
I have even received my invoice for the hosting at Michagan.
I'm sorry for our slow handling. You got the following reply yesterday: We are reviewing this to determine what compensation is needed. Guy

You mean about the fact that 3 days prior to their shipping deadline they had no clue if they could ship or not? ...
We're working through the weekend to meet the October shipping deadline. The reasons for the last minute shipping are numerous and has also very much to do with unauthorized strikes in Israel sea ports, see for example here. It happens also in previous months, we had to ask the carrier to change route, deliver to cypress and fly the parts into Israel. We're going through hoops to make sure the entire material needed for production arrives on time. It's an enormous, challenging task. Right now we're producing the SP20 and we'll ship them after the proper burn-in tests in Flextronics. It might be slipped to the beginning of next week. If this will be the case, we'll compensate. Guy The production of the SP20 is slipping into the beginning of the next week. We are working hard to make sure all units are shipped by Monday. We will offer a BTC compensation for lost mining time. Compensation and ship all SP20s by Monday. First real slip in timeline we've seen. But with compensation I suspect customers will be happy at least in that regard. How long for compensation? During November. We'll contact SP20 customers and ask for wallets addresses.

Seeing the level of communication provided by SP in this thread makes me want to order some hardware. What are the lead times for orders placed this week or next?
SP20 - less than a week SP35 - one month
