... shocking controllers ...
Not upset at all.
I do envy those low cost controllers, especially in the SP20 form factor. It's something AM did right, IMHO
1242  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [ANN] Spondoolies-Tech - carrier grade, data center ready mining rigs on: September 12, 2014, 07:52:53 PM
It is funny. It is called emotions i guess. I would do the same as well sometimes. Point is spondo, bitfury, bitmain & AM are all serious but very different competitors and businesses. May the best one wins. ^^
I have respect to AM and Bitmain past achievements, but they're not high on my list. I don't believe China will be able to compete in 2015

More bla bla bla
Thank you for posting. 9 more pages and we'll be the third longest threads in "Hardware".
Not bad for less than 6 months.

Still in good mood.

Bla bla bla ... the price of SP20 being far to high.
Sales are good. Thank you.
Still in good mood.

...
Always pleasure to have another AM devotee in our little thread.

I must say, compare to his horde of zealots, FC in person is a great guy.

Usually, I would have asked about dividends, but since AM gen4 is around the corner, it saves me the trouble.

Beside, Athens is great and I have good mood.

The SP20 at the current price will not break even. Even if you adjust the diff down to 10%, it will take you 320 days to make $27. And that's just with today's rate. Don't forget that $200-$300 shipping price tag also on top. $1400.

If the price was even $800 you'd only max profit around $430. Wow, almost one bitcoin!

People, get OUT of the pre-order gamble.

Nothing is really priced anymore for the bitcoin starter, only the guy who already has hashing power and wants to add some more to what he has.

The SP20 weighs less than the SP3X and we were able to negotiate better shipping prices. Shipping price the SP20 depends on the destination but is not $200 and certainly not $300.
I don't think this is the thread to discuss ROI but if you insist on doing that at least get the numbers right.

Gosh Guy, that sounds familiar !
Back at you  Wink
1248  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [ANN] Spondoolies-Tech - carrier grade, data center ready mining rigs on: September 09, 2014, 08:20:20 PM
So it's speculative BS just like before. Let us know when you have some real world numbers.
Not speculative at all. It's working piece of silicon with known and understood production tweak.
1249  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [ANN] Spondoolies-Tech - carrier grade, data center ready mining rigs on: September 09, 2014, 08:10:19 PM
@ Spondoolies, what noise db level will the SP20 run at? How 'home friendly' is it on the noise front?
Our estimation is less than 60db
1250  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [ANN] Spondoolies-Tech - carrier grade, data center ready mining rigs on: September 09, 2014, 07:50:07 PM
Has the prototype been tested with the "improved asics"?
No, but we have the ASICs WAT graphs. We know their characteristic.

Hi Gang,

Have I got some goodies for you.

1. The SP20 is out! Yes, that's right, we got a price, we got a shipping date, and we also have a prototype in hand:

Here's Harel taking a look at the box:

And our legendary COO Kobi Levin playing with his new toy:

You can order the units from here:
http://www.spondoolies-tech.com/products/sp20-jackson-october-batch-1

The first 20 people who order will get a free Spondoolies-Tech t-shirt.

Please note that the units do not include a PSU.

2. We took the SP31 which had improved ASICs and replaced the PSUs with 2 BAPS (Big Ass Power Supplies). This allows the unit to pull 3.5kW off the wall but pushes the hashing power to 6TH.

We called this monster the SP35 - Yukon Power. It is available for delivery in the second half of November and you can order it from here:

http://www.spondoolies-tech.com/products/sp35-yukon-power-november-batch-1

Due to the power consumption of the SP35 it is only suited for 208V and up outlets.

As always we are happy to answer any questions you might have and welcome you to contact us at info@spondoolies-tech.com

@Spondoolies-Tech, some questions concerning the SP20:

  • 1. When will the price be announced?
  • 2. What's the power consumption when overclocked to 1.8 TH/s?
  • 3. If that's the network socket to the right at the backside, what's the one to the left (some kind of serial?)?
  • 4. What's the USB connector for?
1. Soon
2. Around 1200 Watt
3. USB 2 serial for console, via a special cable (not provided)
4. Wifi dongle. We have experimental support for various dongles in the SP30
1253  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [ANN] Spondoolies-Tech - carrier grade, data center ready mining rigs on: September 06, 2014, 03:41:12 AM
you will have an earful from PCI-e "purists" who will say that PCI-e is supposed to handle just 75-150W. i am not one of them, but if I order Sp-20, I will be getting some of cablez creations (16 awg two pci-e to one port-V-shape connector)-especially if using evga 1300 (which has 8 connectors).
The customers will need to consult with the PSU manufacturer.
For example, for SeaSonic X-1050 XM each PCIe connector can handle up to 324 W

Side comment-you guys are such a tease-why not an official release with specs/prices?
Soon. Still travelling.
1254  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [ANN] Spondoolies-Tech - carrier grade, data center ready mining rigs on: September 06, 2014, 02:40:27 AM
By end of october (likely will ship last few days as before) ...
Both statements are incorrect.
1255  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [ANN] Spondoolies-Tech - carrier grade, data center ready mining rigs on: September 06, 2014, 02:38:36 AM
While the SP20 has what appears to be attractive specs depending on the price, it's really too little to late.

Currently 1.6THs will only earn $14 per day before electric costs and that will be substantially lower by delivery in October. It's not much better than having a handful of USB Block Erupters a year ago.  Sad

SP31 is about $.7/GH, so if the SP20 comes in around $999 I'd call it a decent deal (meaning likely to break even). At $10/day that's 100 days to ROI. Not horrible by any means, especially during the winter when the heat can be beneficial for a home.

yes, you got a right price point, especially since you are paying for a 1.2-1.3kw power supply (~$200-250)
You can connect 2 X 600W or 4 X 300W as well

Probably a world record for hashing density.
Extremely low cost and effective deployment method. Behind the SP30s are huge fans.

Looks nice but I'm interested to know exactly how effective.

Do you have a total hashrate for those machines?
I'm waiting for the report as well. It was quite effective for the SP10s and dragons they have.
I'm not giving full description of the method because: (1) I don't know every detail (2) It's Cowboyminer trade secrets

I've posted it to prove a point regarding power and cooling density. Edit: Although jtoomim already proved it as well  Smiley

Due to a technical restriction the discount coupons are valid only for SP31. Should you choose to hang on to them for future products please contact us and we will replace the coupon.

Thanks, you can apply them to the SP50 now Smiley

I never said out next product is the SP50. Who knows what kind of goodies we have lined up for you?

All of the August customers who requested a coupon were sent one.

We are now going over the September list.

Gadi

Can I ask in this thread as I'm sure other will be interested too.

I have my vouchers thanks, it says they are valid for 6 months, are they restricted to the SP30/31 ?

I'd probably take a gamble and wait for what you have coming next if they aren't.
