2041  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Avalon is shipping 55 nm process chips? on: November 02, 2013, 09:25:34 PM
Also... Yifu cannot be trusted.

Ya after my 4+ months late batch 3 I would not be too eager to order from Avalon again. Some people never even received their products.
2042  Economy / Securities / Re: ASICMINER Speculation Thread on: October 29, 2013, 10:11:32 PM
I expect there will be some noteworthy news from AM this week. The video on the cooling technology as well as an update on all other endeavours should be a welcome sign to weary investors. A full div (without reinvestment diversion) will also bring out the streamers and birthday cake.

I'm gonna predict the video doesn't show up (on time). Gonna say it'll be around the end of Nov.

Asicminer just hasn't been as reliable as they used to be. I still don't know where the supposed 500TH of new mining equipment was deployed. All in gen 1 usb sticks? Some in that datacenter from the blurry cellphone pics? I read all the news I can about asicminer and I still feel like I'm in the dark most of the time.
2043  Economy / Securities / Re: ASICMINER Speculation Thread on: October 26, 2013, 10:03:32 PM
Everyone else didn't know until after the price-rise.

Not entirely true. I saw it on this forum, went and bought and the price was only up a bit by that point. It doubled once people from here were moving in large numbers. You just had to be quick.

I know what you mean, though. It shouldn't be given out to some people and not others.

+1 one to me. Held shares for 3/4 months. Sold my shares after losing 4/5ths of their value.  Day after I sell the video comes out and the shares just about double. I'm not bitter or crying over it but ya, would be nice if everyone had the same info on which to base decisions.

But that's a big part of why I got out. There has been many plans announced but only some of them seem to get followed through, and most of the time, shareholders are in the dark. Lol and Asicminer is one of the better of the companies available to invest in, on Havelock.
2044  Economy / Securities / Re: ASICMINER: Entering the Future of ASIC Mining by Inventing It on: October 24, 2013, 08:19:19 PM
If the share price spikes the day after I sell it all after holding for months, I'm gonna..I'm gonna....  I'm not sure what I'll do. Guess I'll cry or laugh or some sort of combination.
2045  Economy / Securities / Re: ASICMINER: Entering the Future of ASIC Mining by Inventing It on: October 23, 2013, 08:20:50 PM
I hope a lot of the unknowns are answered soon. Mainly for myself, did all, some, or none of the 500th get deployed yet, or will it get deployed?

The Block Erupter USB hub is somewhat underwhelming. Congrats on the team who made it, and put to it to market, I know that can't be easy. But without much better block eruptor's being available, the product is not that sexy. If you crunch the numbers on the at-cost price of eruptors, it just doesn't make sense that anyone would want to buy 50. As someone else mentioned, if you wanted 50 chips worth of mining, you might as well being putting the chips on a PCB, not in USB format. And if you can't sell the product at cost to make an effective product to compete with some other better alternatives on the market, what's the point?

A glimmer of hope would be a new USB miner gen that would be economical on that scale...

I sold most of my shares today  Angry  Been with Asicminer almost since they first went for sale on BTCT.Co and lost a lot of money, bought shares at >3 and then 1.8.... Looking back now ya I see how AM was much overvalued. But I still think they should reasonable be at around the 1.5 BTC mark per share, if they played their cards right. They still may turn it around but personally -- now that I see them possibly mining only 1% of the network -- it seems like they did not play their cards right and made some bad moves the last 2 months... been a learning experience for me.

I've made a lot of good trades this year and made a lot of profit but with Asicminer guess I just got too emotionally involved and was deluding myself on the company's true value after purchasing it when it was overvalued.
2046  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Which USB hub to use with Block Erupters | NanoFury NF1 | BPMC Red Fury? A List. on: October 22, 2013, 06:45:55 PM
Asicminer is releasing a 49 port hub btw, could be handy:   https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=99497.14440
2047  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Block Erupter USB - Overclocking/ hacking ? on: October 22, 2013, 06:44:24 PM
Just thought I'd mention... Asicminer is soon releasing a 49 port hub, maybe that'll make things easier for some of you and be an attractive product. You can see a picture of it here http://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=99497.14440
2048  Economy / Securities / Re: Analysis of ASICMINER stock on: October 20, 2013, 04:34:46 AM
There are many variables, but the simple answer is easy enough to come by: they did fantastic as early-market entrants into the asic market. In the summer they were sustaining mining rates over 10% steadily and sold ample hardware.

But things go quick in BTC world. So a few months later, many new companies came to market with asics, some backed by big money and or significant expertise. Asicminer resultingly lost market share for their products. They are sort of repositioning themselves in the market, it remains to be seen if they will ever be able to regain the foothold they had.

Personally I think the company will continue to innovate, increase production, and sell a popular product at market rates, and go up in share price. But having said that, Asicminer will unlikely ever have such dominance and relevance as they understandably did when their was only 3 players in town (+Avalon, +BFL).
2049  Economy / Securities / Re: ASICMINER: Entering the Future of ASIC Mining by Inventing It on: October 17, 2013, 08:16:08 PM
Can anyone tell me more about this immersion cooling? Would they be individual cooling units that anyone could use to cool down any ASIC? Are there any risks of damaging your machine? How much money could these units save someone who is mining?

As far as I know the details have not been released.

Presumably it would only be for datacenters and other larger mining operations. Generally immersion cooling is done with a variety of oil that the whole blades are submerged into. It has the benefit of less power use for cooling and reliability...especially if you are using 130nm parts you would benefit from the kind of cooling if you are mining in a large scales.

There is supposed to be a video coming near the end of the month.
2050  Economy / Securities / Re: ASICMINER Speculation Thread on: October 16, 2013, 07:57:20 AM
Whew share price got just hammered today. Really hurts to see it.

Funny how it always seems to dive when BTC/USD price spikes.  Not sure if that has been established to be coincidental or what, but seems to have some effect.

But geez, trading for a 1/7th of the price it once was not that long ago... sigh. Well so it goes I guess. I didn't want all that spare money anyways!
2051  Economy / Securities / Re: Future Of mining in the Cloud on: October 11, 2013, 11:47:50 PM
CLoud mining...cloud mining... wasn't Lando Calrissian into that?
2052  Economy / Securities / Re: ASICMINER Speculation Thread on: October 11, 2013, 11:27:14 PM

If it adds up now, he must have purchased to fix it after his announcement.

So let me get this straight: Ukyo was fractioning his AM shares, got margin called (or however you want to put it), had to buy the shares at market, and now is MIA? How many shares are we talking about here?

Really quite frightening that he is still MIA. People are understandably freaking out a bit.

And then there was only one (Havelock).

2053  Economy / Securities / Re: [BitFunder] Asset Exchange Marketplace + Rewritable Options Trading on: October 11, 2013, 07:18:34 PM
Don't worry. Eventually bitcoin will be worth enough that the massive bribes necessary for easing regulation on the commodity will be affordable by the new, future exchanges.
2054  Economy / Securities / Re: ASICMINER: Entering the Future of ASIC Mining by Inventing It on: October 11, 2013, 01:13:40 AM

Gen-3 chips are already under research, and a lab is already founded and the researcher candidates are decided already, all according to the second latest update. But that's far far away in the bitcoin time scale. Even everything goes smoothly and the gen-3 chips are successfully designed in time, it takes at least 2 months for design and testing and 2 months for producing testing chips and another 2 months for mass production. So we are very lucky if we can benefit from Gen-3 chips in March 2014.

Meanwhile, the Gen-1 chips can be sold $20/G on Oct, $10/G on Nov, $5/G on Dec. It will become not profitable at all in next year. So if the current 500TH are sold well, then at best there're another 500TH to be sold this year.  If not, then these 500TH is the last batch of Gen-1 Chips.

Without Gen-2 Chips, AM can do nothing for at least 3 months (Jan 2014 - March 2014) except mining with the current 200TH (less than 0.5% then). That's the reason I said AM has to turn into a non-mining company (providing board producing, cooling solution, and deploy service as friedcat said in his post before) if they don't order Gen2 Chips immediately.

All good points and info, thanks.
2055  Economy / Securities / Re: ASICMINER: Entering the Future of ASIC Mining by Inventing It on: October 10, 2013, 02:43:51 AM
There are more choices to buy mining hardwares
Unless it's non-exploding hardware.

In long term, gen2 chips cannot be postponed any more, or AM has to be converted to non-mining company totally. If currently the design and testing of gen2 has been finished, then there's no reason not to mass produce it. Even they are not sold well, self mining with them are still profitable. Suppose the watt/G reduce to 1/3 of gen-1, the self-mining capacity can increase to 300TH (from current 100TH), with the same power supply limit.

I think what you said makes a lot of sense and I agree with it.

But additionally, I would also consider another possibility that if the price per GH is right (or cheapest), for those who at least live in countries with very cheap power, then you could imagine a scenario where Asicminer's chips, even though older gen and using much more power, still may be the most attractive option for some long-scale and hobbyist miners.

Sure the watt/G is hugely important... but as well, price per gh is also paramount.  Maybe I'm confusing things, but just saying, it is conceivable to me to have a successful product of 130nm asic miners if the make up for their shortcomings in selling price. Finally, rushing to market with a gen 2 at this point  -- if you have a proven gen 1 product that you can economically produce and sell -- may not be the best plan. Instead, getting a lab set up, and hire some smart-folk, and making a great 2nd gen chip instead of late-coming average gen 2 chip would be a better alternative.

Sure go for it man, sounds like a good idea, best get started on that right away.

IF ANYBODY CAN HELP ME OUT, BECAUSE I CANT FIND AN AVENUE TO GET IN TOUCH WITH BITFUNDER

For some reason bitfunder automatically resets my 2-Factor keys at random. I signed in to my account today and it told me to enable 2 factor. this isnt the first time its happened so I just created a new key and loaded it on my phone. no less than 10 minutes later it had told me to enable 2 factor AGAIN. I did and that worked until just now when I was signed in, bitfunder signed me out automatically and now my 2 factor key has been changed AGAIN and im locked out.

Unfortunately, hate to break it to you, but read this happening to a few people in a few different threads. It's bugged and does this to some people some times. it really boned one guy in particular I recall reading, he had is account locked and can't unlock and had to move a bunch of share.s

What's Mastercoin?  Excuse my ignorance... with the over 100 scam coins out it's easy to lose track of every new coin.

Wow, worst divend in a long time? 0.05832576

Here comes the flood of the price going down.........

Perhaps...Someone just put 112 shares up for sale on Havelock. ..

Dividends coming today?

Yes, just like every other Wednesday.  I don't think Asicminer ever missed one.
