2041  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Crazy Sports Betting Idea on: May 29, 2023, 02:18:54 PM
It seems to me that in the past there were some kind of custom bets where the player asked to bet on something, and the bookmaker then made it possible for him or not - if I'm not mistaken, that was possible on the UK market. And I just remembered one example that was talked about a lot about ten years ago.

I don't see why it would be crazy to include a type of bet on coaches in the offer, because clubs change them very often, and realistically, many of these people should not be coaches because they are not for that job, regardless of whether some of them are were good players.
2042  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: How to stop gambling addiction? on: May 29, 2023, 01:58:57 PM
For those who have a real problem with addiction of any kind, including gambling, the only real help is to seek professional help. This usually refers to help in the form of professional psychologists, who of course are not cheap, but I have noticed that there are more and more free phone supports for those who feel that they are becoming addicted.

However, I think that people should be influenced at a young age so that they know how to face such problems if they find themselves in them, but also everyone should be able to recognize when someone has such a problem and try to help them. Society tends to marginalize such people, but this is completely wrong, because the problem is not only in someone's addiction, but also in the influence of these people on our everyday life.
2043  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [23-05-25] Will Bitcoin help Ron DeSantis become President of the United States? on: May 29, 2023, 01:22:10 PM

You cannot believe one thing that comes out of the mouth of a politician, they will promise you the world before the election, but once they are voted in, they forget all about that.  Roll Eyes

It's not just that they will forget, but they will do exactly the opposite of what they promised. It is fascinating that in most countries there are elections for the parliament or the president every 4 or 5 years, and that at that time the average person mostly forgets about all the promises made by politicians, and even less evaluates how many of these promises have been implemented.

What everyone seems to forget is that the presidents in the US change, but the politics are always the same. No US president can publicly be pro-Bitcoin, because it would mean that he is actually against what the majority of Americans support, which is the US dollar. DeSantis is therefore completely irrelevant in the context of Bitcoin, like all his predecessors.

He swore that many new projects have tried to pay him to talk about some shit coins on his YouTube, which he always turned down, he also said he plan to quit this influencers thing for twitch streaming instead( gaming online ) because crypto influencer is all about feeding people lies upon lies, and he doesn't feel good about it.

Maybe it's all new and strange to you, but the whole shitcoins industry works by first ensuring adequate advertising, and then listing on as many exchanges as possible. All this is actually one big lie and deception in which the owner of the project, the so-called influencer, and of course the platforms that serve for advertising, make money.

I won't say that even some ordinary mortal earns something in all this, but they pick up only crumbs, although the majority lose everything they invest - because their loss actually generates a big profit for all those I have already mentioned. If people were just a little less naive and spent less time on various social platforms, I am sure that they would be much better off in life, and that they would have much more money left in their pockets.

If you have ever shared some ref links of FEY faucets or any multicoins faucets where the ref link is the same for all available coins, that is the most likely reason why your FEY balance is increasing. I'm not sure if there is another way to get FEY from FP in the form of direct ref rewards for those who click PTC and similar on that page with your FP link.
2046  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Ledger Recovery - Send your (encrypted) recovery phrase to 3rd parties entities on: May 28, 2023, 01:35:47 PM

In my opinion Ledger Paris can basically only do one thing right and that's marketing bs. They suck at everything else, including value their customers. Strangely, it seems to me that Ledger appears kind of synonym to hardware wallet. Look at the topic Show off your hardware wallet, yes I know it's not representative, only 4 of 19 don't show Ledger hardware crap.

Realistically, at the time when HW started to become a serious competitor to desktop wallets, there were not too many choices, and Ledger mainly imposed itself as the main player on the market due to its design. To me, that design was always more attractive than Trezor, and that's why I bought those devices, and I assume that many others did it for similar reasons.

What you call "crap" today, we couldn't define it like that in the past because there was no reason for it. However, when I get a new HW, maybe I'll start a new topic called "Show your destroyed Ledgers", because really trash belongs in trash, right?

If you use Ledger Live, then this is a given, since it connects to Ledger servers. And remember they are offering insurance with Ledger Recover, so they are 100% keeping track of your balances.
~snip~

This means that everyone who has ever upgraded firmware and installed coin apps in some way shared the content of their HW, together with the IP address, and it is not unrealistic that each HW can be identified by a unique digital fingerprint, which is then very nicely connected to the KYC database. I am surprised that until now not a single authority in France or the EU has dealt with the problem of Ledger as a company that has been behaving completely amateurishly for years when it comes to the protection of its clients' data.

A few days ago, a bookmaker in my country was fined EUR 380 000 for storing bank card data in an unauthorized manner, without causing harm to its clients.
2047  Economy / Speculation / Re: What will happen to the bitcoin rate if the global economy collapses in 2023? on: May 28, 2023, 11:08:30 AM
Recently, there has been a lot of news on the topic - the collapse of the global economy in 2023. According to some forecasts, this will happen in the summer.
What do you think will happen to bitcoin in this case?

So isn't this year (2023) marked as the year in which recovery will begin? After the pandemic that finally ended, and the war in Ukraine that shook the world, now all eyes are on the US and what will happen there considering that their politicians behave like little children and cannot agree on whether they will save the country or not. Of course, the latter will not happen, because all they are doing is ordinary political trading, as is always the case when such things are agreed upon.

Nothing will happen to Bitcoin, except in the minds of those who think they should listen to their political leaders and direct their lives the way they want. What most people are interested in is of course the price, and for such speculations, everyone should use their imagination - there are people who once again announce $100k by the end of the year, and there are also those who suggest a new crash.
2048  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: An Intriguing article: How to Perfect Your Gambling Strategy on: May 28, 2023, 10:41:37 AM
Shouldn't gambling be fun for the players, and on the other hand, profit for the owners? The majority who approach gambling (and by that I mean casino games) in such a way that they want to beat the house will not succeed regardless of the strategy.

The best strategy that anyone can practice is to think of gambling as fun and to set a limit that he can lose daily, weekly or monthly. In that case, the whole thing makes sense and will not negatively affect our life, and in case of a bigger gain, we can attend some things in life that we have wanted for a long time, but we didn't have the opportunity considering our income.
2049  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Ledger Recovery - Send your (encrypted) recovery phrase to 3rd parties entities on: May 28, 2023, 10:18:33 AM
Considering the documents on the FAQ page of Ledger Recovery and how Ledger is replying on Twitter, I would say that o_e_l_e_o is exactly right regarding how the process will be deployed. What amazes me is the fact that Ledger is totally silent when faced with the fact[1][2][3] - or flaw - that is being able to restore your encrypted shards on any device. Do they consider their clients that ignorant regarding how seed phrases work? I should also note that Ledger Nano S will eventually[4] receive this "awesome" feature, per reply on their Reddit page.

Considering the way Mr. Pascal performed in the video that was linked in one of my previous posts, he obviously considers his clients ignorant and incapable of making an adequate backup, in other words, he positions himself in the same position as the famous CZ who claims that 99% of users in the crypto world are not intelligent enough to be their own bank.

As a side note, I am still amazed by the fact that they imploded their company and lost the loyalty of their clients for $9.99 per month...

Ledger (Pascal) also claims in the video that given the situation, they did not notice any drop in sales of their devices, and that this did not even happen after the famous Ledger leak of hundreds of thousands of user data, which he personally considers a trivial event.

Ledger claims it now stores more than 20% of the world's cryptocurrencies and 30% of the world's NFTs.
Not sure about the statement, how do you come to conclusion like that with hardware wallet?

Either it's a simple fabrication, or Ledger knows exactly how much someone has on their devices, which means that they log all the data from the device every time such a device is online. I would say that it is the latter, and considering the company's reputation, I would not be surprised if they share (sell) this data to anyone who is interested in it.
2050  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: As a Gambler and a Die-Hard Fan of a Club Would you Bet Against your Club on: May 27, 2023, 02:05:20 PM
~snip~
As a gambler and a die-hard fan of a club that has been having a terrible season, would you bet against your club, knowing that their loss would be your financial gain? Or would you stay loyal and not bet against them?

Some people bet for fun, others for profit, and I think that's the biggest difference when it comes to the club we support. I don't see how anyone will support their club by betting on it, and at the same time knowing that they will most likely not win that bet - and on the other hand, we know that the biggest support comes from buying tickets, jerseys/souvenirs and cheering in the stands.

Therefore, I don't see why someone should be called disloyal if they don't bet on their club, because sport is much more than betting, or at least it used to be.
2051  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Dubai to construct the world's first bitcoin tower on: May 27, 2023, 11:02:10 AM
I don’t get it. So the name is Bitcoin Tower but they’ll offer apartments for rent in some weird shitcoin that’ll pay the owner in stakes? Is tht what happens? Cause if so, then why even call it Bitcoin Tower? Call it Shitcoin Tower instead lol because this has nothing to do with BTC besides the name
You nailed it... They could've gone with other shitcoins for the tower name, but clearly, they know the only way to expect a good outcome from announcing such projects is by masking out the part that shows their true nature.

That's what I would professionally call "parasitizing on Bitcoin", and regardless of the idea that Satoshi had when he created Bitcoin, I'm sorry that he didn't protect that name because it would have really spared us from fake creators and those who use Bitcoin to achieve some completely different goals. We can have such a tower in every city in the world, but steel, concrete and plastic will change almost nothing if people continue to think in the wrong way.

~snip~
El Salvador and Central African Republic have accept Bitcoin as legal tender but they're not construct a Bitcoin tower, will Dubai accept Bitcoin as legal tender?

That same country recently rejected Bitcoin, so it would be good if we finally adopt that fact on the forum and not repeat some things like broken records. Legal tender in the context of Bitcoin is an overrated thing, and if the example of El Salvador didn't show it, why do people expect another country to do it?

Somewhat Agree. But, Do you believe Ratimov's post quality or writing style is terrible? He is one of the guys who wrote most tutorials and Guidelines for newbies. He was excited about his achievements and created threads to celebrate them. Somehow BitcoinGirl finds it annoying and decided to create a separate thread so everyone could celebrate their achievement in a single thread.

I don't want to comment on that user at all, all I have to say is what I wrote in the feedback, and I completely agree with what @BitcoinGirl.Club wrote on that topic. It's not about the goal itself, but how you got to that goal, although some will never understand that.

Seems Ledger users are going from one very insecure device to a slightly less insecure device.

It just shows that all those who go in that direction are not aware of what they are actually buying or for some reason known only to them they ignore some known facts. That HW has an irreparable vulnerability that allows an attacker who comes into possession of such a device to extract the seed in 5-10 minutes, not to mention their cooperation with those who will analyze all transactions and determine which ones are good and which ones are not. In addition, who says that the Trezor will not come up with something similar to Ledger in the future?

i am 3x of your income, still confused about how the income is calculated, but some say that it is calculated from the number of lottery tickets whereas i have never bought it always get free from free spins only, when did you create a freebitcoin account, i think i want to know if this It also has something to do with the age of the account or the number of referrals.

I'm still a little curious and not sure enough that free spins earnings are calculated from the number of lottery tickets purchased, but still appreciate any information, I'd be happy if you would answer my question, when did you create a freebitcoin account?

As I already wrote in the previous post, everything is nicely explained on the faucet page and I am sure that it has nothing to do with the registration time or the number of referrals. I have been a member since 2014 and have several hundreds of referrals, but still my minimum reward is only 7 satoshis at the moment.

Every time you buy a lottery ticket or make a bet, you will see how much you still need (in percentage) until the next prize increase. However, I have to admit that I have a friend who is my referral and also has the same minimum reward as me, but the only thing he did was exchange rewards points for free BTC bonus.
2055  Other / Meta / Re: How are the rules on "link dumps"? Should this be forbidden? on: May 27, 2023, 09:49:55 AM
I reported it as a zero-effort low-value post + if it is about one and the same link, then also by advertising in the post, which is not allowed on the forum. In 99% of cases, such a report would be marked as good, so everyone who sees such posts should first of all not participate in such discussions, and if they report the post correctly, it will most likely be deleted.

Mr. Mars, as usual, wants to be in the center of attention, although anyone with a little common sense shouldn't be the least bit excited about what he says. The article talks about something that didn't happen only in 2021/22, but happened many times in history, and now we are in 2023, where Bitcoin is one of the best assets if we look at the price since the beginning of the year.

In addition, how much money did his companies lose in the last year, and how much is Twitter worth today?
2057  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Russian Invasion of Ukraine[In Progress] on: May 26, 2023, 02:04:09 PM
There is a lot of debate about whether Ukraine should have defended Bakhmut which according to most military analysts is strategically unimportant, but it seems to me that the decision was still correct because it enabled Ukraine to secure the necessary time to additionally arm and train tens of thousands of soldiers who will participate in a counterattack.

It is true that Ukraine lost a lot of soldiers and equipment in that area, but Russia still lost a lot more because of the strategic positions of the Ukrainian army, which was and still is in elevated positions around the city, from which it prevents the further advance of the Russian army. In addition, advancing forward, the Russian army weakened its flanks all the time, and now this is becoming more and more apparent because the Ukrainian forces have all the prerequisites to surround the city and destroy everyone in it.

Bakhmut played a very important role in fully focusing the Russian forces to conquer it, but I have no doubt that the regular Russian troops will face a real challenge to hold it, because the "bloody musicians" who actually conquered the city are leaving the front, and considering the losses, it will take them months to recover.

I get 16 sat freerolls every hour, maybe each user is different and the freeroll income is different and not the same, I have 53 referrals but not all of them are active, is it calculated based on the age of the account or the number of referrals we have, I still have time to ask questions about the difference what is this income based on, maybe it has been discussed before but maybe I missed it.

A few pages ago we talked about it, because someone wrote that his minimum reward is 2 sats per roll, but in fact everything is explained on the main page of faucet, and that reward depends on purchased lottery tickets, multiply btc and bet on events, and the highest minimum reward always changes in relation to the price of BTC. Currently, it is even 152 sats per roll. The number of referrals and their activity, as far as I know, have nothing to do with it.

Look at where the companies that will be storing the shards are located. The USA and the UK + the last shard is held by Ledger. Don't you think they couldn't have found partner companies elsewhere? Of course, they could have. The way they did it now, the right document from the right 3-letter agency in the US gets US authorities one shard, with Ledger gladly supplying the second one.

Nothing happens by chance, everything is well thought out, and apart from profit, the point is to put as many users of this HW as possible in a position where they can be controlled. Of course, not everyone will accept the new service, some because of the price and KYC, others because they understand how absurd and dangerous it is, but let it not surprise anyone if Ledger turns that service into something mandatory in the future, because their "mothers" and maybe even 200 millions of users are super satisfied and they will ask the company to protect those of us who don't understand it.

Yes, I'm referring to that video. It made me moody and angry how Pascal (he doesn't deserve this surname) looks at Bitcoin users. You could see an ironical and humiliating attitude towards bitcoin users in his speech. I bet he even laughs and thinks how stupid people are when they buy/order his hardware wallet.

Yes, it's easy to see what attitude he has towards anyone who dares to criticize what he does, but he's one of those people who always thinks that everything they do is perfect and completely right. I lost my trust in that company a long time ago, but after everything that has happened now, I will be extra motivated to warn all current and future users to think seriously about whether they will trust someone who makes such risky and senseless decisions, and has such a hypocritical attitude attitude towards those who made it possible for him to be what he is today.

At some point I think that there is a bigger overall plan and FTX, Ledger and other companies are part of this plan, yes, I know it sounds like a conspiracy theory but everything can happen. Look, top exchanges fail/scam/go-bankrupt, now hardware wallets are probably going to get hacked/leaked. Isn't this a reason to ban bitcoin usage/trading/mining/etc? Probably this is a real plan or probably they think that people are dumb and want to take an advantage of that.

I wouldn't even say that there is a plan in the sense that someone devised it, but that the plan is actually to let people do what they know best, which is to destroy themselves. Everything that is happening is just an indication of how wrong we were when we trusted companies like Ledger or Trezor, or that most Bitcoin trading is conducted through CEX. For the first time in history, we got a decentralized currency, and in fact we centralized it to such an extent that it is mostly stored in a centralized way.

Still, it's not too late to change, everyone can use DEX and store their coins in airgapped storage, and if the majority did that, people like Pascal, CZ or Brian Armstrong would become completely irrelevant.

It's not like OP is not aware of Announce your rank up, merit or any achievements that makes you feel great!. Only nine days ago, he celebrated his Sr. Member rank-up achievement in this thread. He could have posted this achievement there as well. But decided to create a thread because others are doing the same.

I don't think we can expect everyone to follow some guidelines (which aren't even official), and the Reputation board has always been a place where members posted their achievements. It would be nice if everyone posted their achievements in the same topic, but that is simply not realistic to expect.

I don't think I have ever "celebrated" any of my achievements in this way, but I understand that there are members who experience each "achievement" very emotionally, so I can understand that they react like the OP. In addition, I think that the quantity in this particular case is not too important, because numbers are just numbers, and the quality of the posts is a much more important criterion.
