[ lots of intriguing vaping/weed stuff ]

Enuff with the offtopic now. Y'all know i'm a weed connoisseur, already  Grin

Wow, I'm intrigued, OOM. You are a weed connoisseur.

Okay, let me say this: the thing I said earlier about not having smoked in my entire life was not 100% true. I've smoked once. And it was cannabis! Yes! When in college, and next to a gorgeous girl, in her dorm room. Great times. Nirvana's Nevermind playing on a cassette tape, and we were smoking one joint at a time, passing it between us. Earlier there was another girl that prepared the joints for us. She was an expert. She mixed normal tobacco with the cannabis stuff, and rolled them. I was, still am, a newbie in this sort of thing. If it was me, I would have put all the cannabis in! We had a great time. I remember feeling like I was inside a rocket flying high, accelerating upwards. If only I could turn back time...

And I've also "eaten" magic mushrooms. Yes! Are you supposed to eat them? That's what I think the guy that gave them to us said. Anyway, we made the mistake of splitting one dose between me and her. Didn't feel a thing. Never tried anything ever again. I saw a comment by a WOer here a couple of days ago, about mushrooms defragmenting your brain. That sounds so cool, as my brain needs some serious defragmenting, I can feel it. But I don't know where to get them...

OOM, if there's anything related and you don't mind, I'll be PMing you.

Thanks.
Cool story, btw. I also smoked the first J with a girl, but she wasn't pretty LOL
Didn't feel anything for the first six times, but the seventh time i got hit really nice, it was almost too much and i had to walk home through dark parks and alleys, got scared a little.

Here's my advice on MM: Especially the first few times, don't do it alone. You should be able to get a "mushroom box" somewhere and grow your own. Moisture, warm, constant environment temperature and no direct light will get things growing. If they're potent, you will likely have phantastic and wild organic trip, unlike the clear, transparent quality of LSD. You can snap out of a bad trip on LSD easily, while it's not as easy on shrooms and you might vomit your guts out. Which is some kind of defragmentation as well, if you put it that way  Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy
No joke: Look for experienced, trustful company for the first time. Maybe there are "phantasy group trip" offers in other countries, might well be worth a visit.

Alternative: Try microdosing and slowly step up. You'd need a couple of days in between to achieve the same ratio of potency each time, because your metabolism will adapt to a degree in the range of less than a week. MM do a lot for your life experience through microdosing, everything becomes more vivid and alive or soulful, without overflowing your brain with science fiction like mythical sensations.

EDIT: Might be worth to mention that i had my last full dosed shroom experience around 20 years ago. It almost destroyed an old friendship. Turned out later that my friend was full of shit, anyway. I basically saw and felt his true nature but didn't believe the vibes. I was taught better in the end.

What's a good popular strain these days? I read something about Northern Lights... but that seems to be a generic name for plenty of them and all different too. It happens to be a name for a fitness brand too.

I don't know what's popular, actually. I don't share my passion with many people. Only the anonymity of the interweb makes me willing to talk about that topic, which i normally avoid, especially in public. You wouldn't recognize that i do weed, even if you know me for longer time. One of my brothers in law does too, we shared some good times in the past, but he still doesn't know that i do. He's nice, but too talkative.

I prefer original strains, but they are genetically contaminated nowadays when you buy them. Through coincidence i met an old lady who is growing strains from the 70s, they're nowhere as strong as modern strains, but i really like them for alternation and when i need to use my faulty brain a lot (creating annual tax report for my wife's business, for example).
I like colorful stuff a lot, like original purple haze, skunks, the juicy more modern bubblegum and blueberry variants, and for the last few years mostly i got more modern, random stuff like white russian, atomic haze, soma, ak-47, white widow, bubba kush. Unfortunately that door is closed now, because the dude that delivered it sold his car, living a few hundred miles away, but the quality was awesome, bioorganically grown, highly potent weed in vacuum bags, only slightly compressed.

Sorry for drifting off. Northern Lights? A classic, also popular. Quite psychedelic, it doesn't just fog your brain and put you to sleep. One of the first strains i smoked back then, in the early 90s, of which i also actually knew the name. Went to amsterdam to get awesome qualities of this strain. I think it was a "cannabis cup" winner (by well known "sensi seeds" company) back then. But as i said, should be hard to get hold of genetically unaltered NL buds/plants/seeds nowadays.

EDIT: I just realized that i don't remember the name of any real modern strain i had. All i mentioned so far were at least on the market for 10 yrs. and more.
I'd really like to try "california green", but i am not in a position to get hold of it anytime soon.

vaping can both make it easier and harder to quit cigs. easier because, unlike a cig, it wont stay lit till its done (cigs add chemicals to keep it burning, contrast that with a cigar with no chemicals.. it goes out when you leave it). so, light a cig and you pretty much are forced to smoke the whole thing as its gonna burn down to the filter anyway. plus it coats everything with that nice orange gunk.. (smokers just look at your computer innards and fans.. eeeew man mine were soooo disgusting).

vaping. press the button, inhale or once or twice, put it back in your pocket nice and neat, done. and those subzero mods can put out clouds of vapour of sizes that you have to see to believe. and no ash, no ashtrays that stink, no orange coating in the rooms etc. of course theres maintenance - cleaning, replacing seals, coils etc. but thats was actually an attraction to me.. kinda calming doing coils maintenance and whatnot.

[...]

I'm against smoking in general, but the way you describe vaping makes me want to try it. I see colleagues and friends with these vaping machines that look so high-tech, like some kind of weapon that came out of an alien ship or something. OLED displays, coil resistances, wattage, energy reserves.  Cheesy

I wouldn't touch these with a stick. There are findings that the liquids based on oils containing vitamin-E harm the lung tissue.
Oil based vapor is that thick, white foggy very opaque vapor. In comparison, vaped herbs produce very light, transparent vapor just like when you heat up water on a stove.

I use a mobile vaporizer, very rarely, but it's manually heated with a pocket lighter. A bi-metal cap making a click sound when the right temperature is reached and then the taste/efficiency depends on how strong you draw. Looks like sucking on a crack pipe a little  Cheesy
You can vape tobacco too, but you have to manually clean it quite often.
At home i use the "volcano" table-top vaporizer. It's the best you can get, it's running almost daily for over 15 years now, just had to replace a broken switch two years ago. The best thing is, you can make hash-dope from the debris. Black, oily stuff which knocks you off your socks and also brown, dry hash with a lot of herb fiber.
I also make chocolate with the remaining herb, after vaping it twice, still has plenty of potency.
This way it also becomes three times cheaper to vape mary j.

Sister in law died from lung cancer presumably due to smoking.

I'd urge anyone to stop smoking. Don't even vape. Don't even use shisha as nice as it is.

Furthermore it looks like Covid isn't going away any time soon.

Personally I think not smoking and somewhat controlling weight will help me more than a vaccine at my age.

I keep vaping, but only pure 'erbs. Preferably biologically grown. No extracts, oils or anything like that.

Any advice on how to stop Smoking Cigarettes?  Grin

I have quit smoking 3 times with the same system. And I mean quitting smoking and going about 5-7 years without smoking, then for some reason going back to smoking 6-12 months and again I quit.

The system is the same as a doctor would use if he had prescribed you an addictive drug when it comes to withdrawing it: gradual reduction of the doses. It is also useful to stop or reduce coffee consumption: if you drink 5 coffees a day and you want to quit, if you do it all at once you will get a terrible headache, extreme lack of energy, etc. If you reduce 1 coffee every 5 days, you will not even notice it.

In the case of nicotine, the gradual reduction is difficult to do with cigarettes, because they are more addictive as nicotine rises quickly in the brain. That is why it is better to use chewing gum, but to use chewing gum you have to use the initial dose that leaves you as satiated as cigarettes. Let's say you smoke a pack of cigarettes a day. Then, 10-12 nicotine gums should be enough to feel satiated. If you start with 12, go down by 1 gum each week. When you go for about 3 gum a day, you will be able to quit at once because the nicotine dependence will be so low that you won't even notice it.

The physical nicotine dependence will be gone within four weeks. It's barely noticeable, with withdraw symptoms just like an empty stomach feeling, nothing more. That's why it's easy to quit. The fear factor that the neurotoxin introduces, is the greatest barrier to quit. Before you even light your last cigarette, you start to fear what's happening after the last one. In reality, there are only good things happening, getting back taste and appetite, energy, lung volume, better heart rate and blood pressure, losing the withdrawal stress (which makes up the "relaxation" effect of the "next cigarette").
Psychologically, the dependence is similar to heroin. It goes on for years, in the very back of your head. As soon as you touch it, your body chemistry remembers it and you instantly become physically dependent again. Once you're over the four weeks again, you naturally don't want to touch it UNLESS there is psychical co-dependence.

Example:
My mother's neighbor smoked 4 packs a day for decades, lies in bed after his fourth (!) stroke, unable to quit. He's down to one pack a day now, though he tried everything. He's a very cool type of guy. Turned out he doesn't feel cool without a smoke between his lips. And there's that. He should have worked on feeling cool without the damn stick in his mouth, then he would have been able to quit easily.

Basically you have two choices when you try your first smoke: Leave it forever as the disgusting thing it really is, or discover some "benefit" and stay hooked for a lifetime, unless you discover that the "benefit" was total bullshit.

For me, it was the "rebel" in me at the age of 15 that got me going with smoking. I discovered that i could be a rebel without tobacco about 15 years later, was able to give it up after three tries, five years later. God bless vaporizers, by the way.

In the end, it's irrelevant HOW you leave it, as long as you don't think you gave something up that is of some value. It really isn't. It's just ugly shit to get you hooked, so you can feed the tobacco industry and pay taxes on it for a lifetime. Pretty clever...

Any advice on how to stop Smoking Cigarettes?  Grin

I did it like this:
https://www.amazon.com/Allen-Carrs-Easy-Stop-Smoking/dp/1405923318

Immediately stopped without problem.

This is Level 1, though.
Then you have to know how to keep yourself from ever touching tobacco again, acknowledge that it is a deep addiction, and look at what you don't ever want to throw away: Your newly won freedom and feeling of life.

This is Level 2, then.

Level 3 is being able to smoke some once in a while, while KNOWING that it is useless and that you do it because of the addiction and because you think you are stronger than the addiction, while being free to say no to smoking in between (months, years).

Level 2 and 3 are the ones that are harder to reach without falling back to be a smoker.

And as of Level 3: I was feeling like a damn idiot after these five or possibly up to ten occasions when i choosed to smoke. When you know how ugly you feel about yourself after smoking again, it's MUCH easier to stay away for a longer while, i mean years.
I had my last cigarette about four years ago, while i was smoking a spliff last time on new year's eve 2018 or 2019 (maybe both times?). Quit regular smoking three times, last time about 11 years ago.

Just read the book. It's no promise you will stop, but you'll learn a lot about nicotine and yourself.
Good luck and enjoy  Grin

EDIT: From the movie "Sin City" (Based on Frank Miller's classic):
Quote
Nobody ever really quits. A smoker’s a smoker when the chips are down. And your chips are down.

Saylor believes the 4 year cycles are over. In any case, their company is hodling for a minimum of 5 years.

I think he is wrong, that would mean that the halving and subsequent boom would never again be followed by a bust. No way, it's way to early for that.

Yeah, halvening cycles are like self fulfilling prophecies. You'd need a lot of market "up energy" to compensate the cyclic bear market.
Or global paradigm shift, like true mass adoption within the bullrun phase.

I have been here for all of the cycles... some of us have seen less, and the new institutional folks?  0 so far.

But those guys can read a chart.  Do we honestly think it's going to follow the exact same pattern AGAIN now that the whole world is starting to want in?

It may be that I just WANT Saylor to be right.  But I think he actually may be.  It might actually be "different this time".  Lol.

I'm 50/50 on this matter. I don't say its impossible (end of cycles =EOC) but i know that humans are prone to repetition and to expect what worked/happened in the past will work/happen in the future, too. So there are "strong forces" against EOC. It depends on the strength of forces that are working against the cycle expectancy and market movers to act in accordance to the latter. It's completely open. We will just have to witness how it's going to be as it goes on.

I smell a new round of newly printed trillions of $$$ by the Fed to bail out hedge funds that have shorted bitcoin and are too big to fail.

I don't buy this. As I said, and more said before me, my hunch is they're just suppressing spot to get the best possible deal OTC. They won't be able to keep at it for long, says my SOMA system.

Seconded.
They just try to build up sell pressure on spot, like they're used to on the stock market.

I'd welcome that, but i doubt it a little because derivatives are in play now.
They seem to keep down the price, but their effect will be meaningless when liquidity will be crunched.
I think it will happen, but not in the scope of weeks, more like around Q3/Q4.
