2101  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Ledger Recovery - Send your (encrypted) recovery phrase to 3rd parties entities on: May 24, 2023, 10:59:09 AM
~snip~
Basically, he says that people in crypto world have accepted KYC and it's a normal here.

There is some truth in the fact that the majority have accepted KYC as a standard procedure, but still mostly when it comes to CEX, but this was never the case with hardware wallets, even though Ledger leaked data of hundreds of their clients, and the company is swept it under the carpet and tried to convince clients that there was actually no danger in it.

This is just a continuation of everything that happened, because if we read between the lines, then the message that Ledger sends is something along the lines of "you are not ready to be your own bank anyway, your backup is safer in our hands", which is very similar to what said comrade CZ, when he called practically 99% of his users "stupid" and asserted that they are not capable of being their own bank.

If you look at the bigger picture and all the regulations, especially in the US and the EU, then it is much clearer in which direction all this is going. Let no one be surprised if in the future any HW will be impossible to use without detailed KYC, and the so-called "recovery" will also be mandatory, which will mean that most of the bad-informed will keep their BTC in a custodial service.

i live in germany and its 500k € jumped to almost 800k € and what are you calling a building for a private person of 500k if not a house ?

I know that the standard of living in Germany is quite high, and even a house of half a million euros is obviously not something excessive, although for my standard we call such "houses" villas or residences, at least if you go a little to the east of the EU. For an example, look at what you can get on the Adriatic coast for 800k EUR, although the price was even 170k EUR less before.

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5366161.msg58250640#msg58250640

and when it comes to the shitcoins, yes actually thats what i want to do, invest into a shitcoin (XRP) wait for the lawsuit causing the temporal Skyrocket up to at least 100% i would suggest and then sell ^^ anyhow with 3k i cannot loose all to much compared to the 300k i "lost" through the house ^^

Your money, your risk - I personally don't think the results of the lawsuit will have that kind of impact on that altcoin. 100% is not something unattainable for an altcoin anyway, Bitcoin has achieved this since the beginning of the year.
2103  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: When to buy - A look into the future of BTC !? on: May 23, 2023, 01:47:47 PM
Well it is a strategy that fits for my personal situation. My problem with DCA that i cannot use this strategy right now because i am building a house for my family which should have cost about 500k  but then corona came followed by the ukraine and now we are about to pay almost 800k.

Is that 500k US dollars or your national currency? I live in the EU, but a house of half a million USD or EUR is not even called a house in our country, and only those who are at the top of the pyramid can afford it. Anyway, your timing was bad.

This forced me to sell off anything i had at the possible badest moment (january) while i had invested closely before the ftx desaster ^^ this situations cost me a lot of money and now i only have 3k bugs left to invest but still i cant say if i can loose them ore if i would need them becouse the house could possibly become any more expensive depending on what comes next.
~snip~

Are you building an $800k house, have only $3k in cash, and are you thinking about some investments? Honestly, you can only profit from that $3k if you invest in some shitcoin that will explode overnight and bring you x000% profit, but you can also go to a casino and choose black/red or maybe green if you feel extremely lucky Grin

Probably, they hire the service of the team behind needmoney account to promote the casino on social media and here in the forum without knowing the actual reputation of the account. Perhaps they were informed that a legendary account that endorsed them will boost their project's reputation.

It's a bad business move in any case, except for those who think that every Legendary account is good for promotion, or for those who don't care about Trust score. When you employ/hire someone to do something for you, then it would be logical to check whether that person might have a negative impact on your business - and as far as I know, only one campaign on the forum accepts members into its ranks, regardless of DT tags. Of course, we all know that this company has no reputation at all.

I have a friends that ask me bout btc official website and I always referred them to Bitcoin.org with the believe that is the official website.

Tell your friends that Bitcoin is a decentralized cryptocurrency, so as such it cannot have any official websites, banks, or people who represent it - anyone who doesn't want to or can't understand it always has the alternative of looking for a centralized project that has all those things projects usually have. I doubt that @hosseinimr93 can explain more what he wrote, because the explanation is more than clear.
2106  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The last side of Bitcoin I've failed to look into on: May 23, 2023, 10:22:37 AM
Is all we can do as a Bitcoin investor is to HODL?

Of course, you can always do more with your BTC, but that involves risk, because you leave your digital assets to someone else, and that other person can make an exit scam or be hacked at any moment. These days in my country there is a current story about how some enterprising crypto investor managed to cheat around 800 people and disappear with around 70 million EUR.

Obviously, no one remembers all those lending companies that collapsed like towers of cards, and maybe it's time for some new ones to appear, considering that there are a lot of people who are ready to "gift" their BTC to someone else for the promise of some miserable earnings of 1-2% per year.
2107  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: When to buy - A look into the future of BTC !? on: May 23, 2023, 09:43:40 AM
I recently found this (wish i would have found it at the beginning of this year i swear i would be rhich right now xD)

What is the difference between now and the beginning of the year when we look at the price of BTC? The difference is about $6000-7000 and you haven't missed anything important that cannot be compensated, so you can become rich by the end of the year or even sooner Wink

as you can see BTC is doing actually almost exactly what it is supposed to do according to the cheat sheet. Right now we are close to the Dip between the double top after the "ANGER" Phase of the cheat sheet.

The price is more or less following the old patterns before the last halvings and is slowly recovering after bottoming out last year at under $15k, and everyone who followed those patterns has already filled their bags and has already made 100% profit. Others who, like you, analyze what will happen with some shitcoin or with some CEX will very likely regret the missed opportunities again, but it is a story that is constantly repeated, and I am not surprised that nothing has changed even today.

This attempt at promotion looks quite unprofessional, and it also raises doubts when I see that these are BTT accounts that have woken up from a long period of activity, and are also full of negative feedback.

@JustBet, is this your alt account? https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5452332.msg62281402#msg62281402
2109  Economy / Gambling / Re: 🥇BEST CASINO IN 2023 - Community decide🥇 on: May 22, 2023, 02:43:07 PM
We need 6 more casinos, you can choose from the casinos the community picked in the OG post.
I will add the 6 casinos with the most comments.

Is there a particular reason why Flush wasn't added to the list at all? Maybe they are not the most famous and do not have a numerical superiority when it comes to signature campaigns, but that is no reason not to be on the list. You have a link in my signature.
2110  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Can you give one reason why I should buy bitcoin? on: May 22, 2023, 02:08:46 PM
A friend of mine once told me that I can become very by investing in bitcoin and cryptocurrency.
According to him,he said some crypto analyst and experts have long predicted that bitcoin has the largest transfer of wealth and affluent
The world has ever seen and that most of them that are investing in it will be the ones to be rewarded.
I'm certainly not convinced about this information that he gave to me...I want better ideas and  enlightenment on why I should buy bitcoin.I need help please!

Given that you have access to the internet, I don't see why you don't see for yourself or prove your friend wrong? In addition, it is a bit strange that after some other posts you ask questions like this in which you express doubt and seek some kind of clarification, and at the same time you advocate the introduction of education about cryptocurrencies into the education system.

Your friend was somewhat right, but cryptocurrencies are 99% just empty promises for 99% of those who see it as an opportunity, because only a few get rich, and those are mostly people who invent various cryptocurrencies and tokens.

Cryptocurrency should be adopted as a course of study in academic systems worldwide, from basic classes, through the higher institutions.
Cryptocurrency should be taught to little children at tender age and implemented/approved for basic transactions within academic environments to improve knowledge and usage, spread and utility of cryptocurrency to ensure safer and smarter transactions as well as to enlighten the students as kids and adults on the utility, conservation, spread and improvement of cryptocurrency.
It should also be made known that knowledge of Cryptocurrency is a form of empowerment to the young ones and adults.

I rolled 10 000, only in reverse, and not for the first time Tongue - maybe freebitco could make some symbolic prizes for numbers like this, or when someone rolls 1111, 2222 and similar. Congratulations to all the lottery winners from last week, some were really lucky with a small number of tickets.

2113  Other / Meta / Re: Forum Menbership- 3.5m registered only 56k members survived?..... Why? on: May 22, 2023, 10:52:50 AM
I'm curious about the forum's membership reduction and what can be to blame. A community with 3.5 million registered users has 2.7 million banned/nuked accounts, 700k accounts are dormant, and just 56k individuals have been active for the past three months.

I would never look at these numbers as something important, because as others have already written, it is not about unique users, but about numbers that largely result from the fact that many have created tens or even hundreds of btt accounts and then they abuse various signature/bounty campaigns. Many of these members tried to rank those accounts in such a way that they plagiarized everything that could be plagiarized, and then someone started a bot that did a big cleanup and a huge number of btt accounts were banned in a very short time.

After 2018 and the merit system, many people gave up on creating btt farm accounts, and more or less all the shitposters gave up on the forum because they no longer had the financial motivation to be here. In essence, those 56k btt accounts you mention are quite a realistic number for one forum, considering that forums are not something that attracts new generations.
2114  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Foundation Passport Official Thread on: May 21, 2023, 02:06:35 PM
@foundationdvcs, it would be good to check the links of your resellers now that many have decided to find a replacement for Ledger&Trezor. I was happy when I saw that one of the IT stores in my country sells you HW, but such a product does not exist in their store (unfortunately) - link. Also, the prices at other shops (EU) are still unchanged, even the prices are over 300 EUR.

Question for those who ordered directly from the US to the EU, how much extra did you pay for shipping costs, customs, VAT?

2116  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: El Salvador has become the first country to make #Bitcoin legal tender! 🇸🇻 on: May 21, 2023, 12:50:43 PM
The more crypto-related companies and businesses move into the country, the better. I think El Salvador's economy will be booming within a decade from now. I wouldn't be surprised if established players from the US like Coinbase and Kraken also move there sometime in the future. The US is becoming hostile against crypto/Blockchain tech, leaving crypto exchanges no choice but to move their operations elsewhere.
~snip~

Maybe, maybe not, because every serious company is looking for long-term stability, above all the political stability that a country like El Salvador can hardly provide. What apparently few pay attention to is the possibility that Bukele and his ruling party may not be re-elected in the next elections, although some will say that they currently have no opposition to fear.

It seems to me that such large companies would not move their headquarters to such countries, but it is all a matter of lobbying and politics, which means that everything depends on what conditions El Salvador would offer them.
2117  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ⚽ UEFA Euro 2024 in Germany ⚽ - Qualifiers on: May 21, 2023, 10:30:45 AM
~snip~
For France it is 16 WC participations with 2 titles and 10 UEFA Euro participations with 2 titles. For Croatia it is 6 participations in each tournament and the best result was the runner-up in 2018 at the WC and two times quarter finalists at the UEFA Euro with the last one being in 2008.

If you are already going into history, then it should be mentioned that the modern Croatian state was created in a bloody defensive war in 1991, and during that period it won third place at the world championship in France (1998), second place in Russia (2018), and third place in Qatar (2022). Therefore, Croatia, as a country of only 3.8 inhabitants that has existed for just over 30 years, has historically achieved fantastic results at world championships, and mostly with domestic players with the exception of one Brazilian (Eduardo da Silva), while France mainly relies on players who come from colonized countries, and it was never clear to me why they don't play for their homelands, which every player should do if they have chance.

Maybe disabled it to get RPs instead?

That's because Betwrong has disabled getting lottery tickets.
You can go to your profile and check "Disable lottery" option. With doing so, you will get reward points instead of lottery tickets.

Thanks for the explanation, I really didn't know that option existed, and maybe I could use it myself sometimes - of course if it is possible to turn on/off the option whenever you want. Although I have been a user since 2014 or 2015, it seems that I will have to study all the options a little more Smiley

I haven't received any email. So, it seems the hacker is using the email list from 2015 hack.

I have also never received such an e-mail, which only goes to the fact that someone is using the database of accounts that were hacked somewhere around 2015, and considering that many changed their e-mails after that and that many from that period are no longer active, I think that this "hacker" just wasted his time.

In addition, everyone who is active on the forum should know that donations of this type are no longer possible, or it just seems to me that I read that somewhere?
2120  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: HyperBitcoinization Coming, Says Adam Back, Do you Agree? on: May 20, 2023, 02:34:55 PM
For someone who has been around for a long time and doesn't have a short memory, I can only say that this is another cheap PR for the man and the company he represents. Unfortunately, if someone thinks that we have 1 million people who own 1 BTC and is happy about it, then they are really living in a big delusion, because one person or one company can have 10 000 BTC located in 10 000 addresses, so this whole methodology makes sense as well as the fact that millions of BTC were lost because they did not move from the specified address for x years.

I can only agree that such data cannot help us to objectively see the true picture, no matter how much some try to convince us otherwise.
