2123  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Which Bitcoin Exchange do you use and why ? on: May 18, 2014, 10:00:40 PM
I do not use bitcoin exchanges anymore, as I'm not much into trading alt coins for the moment. But I've used btc-e in the past, they allow for quite a lot of trading options, the site is  easy to use for trading. Downside is that they hold money of newbies for say a week, and fees are high (for me  Smiley).

That's exactly why you should use 0% fee exchanges like ANXPRO.
No holding money, just register and trade, or submit verification if you need to trade in fiat.

I received payment today and this time Stunna also gave everyone positive reputation. I adjusted the rep I gave him based on the total amount he paid me.

Same here. I hope Stunna increases the rate to match other competitors.
By the way, is Stunna a he or a she?

When provider auto-reg. open ?  Sad

I hope never, it will keep the price higher for providers, also leaves the overall provider quality very high.

Agreed

Correct. Also, miaviator, can you make it so that customers are forced to make a rating before leasing another rig? That would help greatly.

Be careful what you wish for. I'd rather have an honest voluntary feedback than someone going "oh, good, you're asking for feedback, well the rig was one KH/s under spec for the last 5 minutes, there's your two stars".

But then it would be completely unfair for rigs that still don't have a rating, since people will think they are worse.
Also, ratings should be for providers, not rigs.
2126  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Pools (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][AUTO-SWITCH] Profit-switch auto-exchange pool: CleverMining.com on: May 18, 2014, 09:06:14 PM
Hi,

It seems like the website indicates to add this parameter  double dash scrypt  "-- scrypt"  to the configuration. However, my miner web interface only allows me to add these fields:  Pool Address, PoolID/User and password.

So how can I add the scrypt parameter ??

Thanks

Don't worry about scrypt, enter stratum+tcp://us.clevermining.com:3333 (or stratum+tcp://eu.clevermining.com:3333 if your miner is hosted in Europe) as the pool address, your BTC address as username, and x as password.

And if he is a complete noob and has an Antminer S1, Dragon Miner or anything of the sort?

2131  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Multiple BTC wallets for security? on: May 18, 2014, 05:44:12 PM
This sounds like the only really secure option.

Would I only need to backup the seed?  If someone were able to read that seed backup, would they be able to spend the coins?
Yes, only the seed. And yes, if someone gets the seed, they can spend your coins.
If the offline computer were physically stolen, would the thief be able to spend the coins?
Well of course. All they need is to connect the computer to the internet.
How about installing Linux on a USB stick and booting to that with networking disabled instead of using a separate offline computer?
Mhmm... Maybe. As far as I know, some keyloggers can log everything, no matter what VM/USB OS you put on it.

But seriously, a paper wallet is more than enough. You are a bit too paranoid.
2132  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Pools (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][AUTO-SWITCH] Profit-switch auto-exchange pool: CleverMining.com on: May 18, 2014, 04:38:42 PM

Scrypt-Based Mining now is just generally dead. I don't see the point anymore, even if you have Mh/s, you're still losing a LOT with electricity costs.

Some people have access to really cheap or even free electricity.

True, however my single card rig (303KH/s) uses 240W solid when mining. I have it on for 9 hours each day during the night since mining scrypt is so unprofitable ~ at least for me anyway. Its around £9 a month now that I'm doing this minus a couple pound due to my solar panels which are grid tied.

Pick up an R9 270 yo! Coupled with a Sempron 145 you can have a low power single rig pushing 430+ Kh/s and fairly low temps...should be under 175w! Also GOLD rated PSU or better helps a bunch.

I have it at 475kh/s, and it's using around 180w. It's a really good card, but instead, you really should get some gridseeds, since they use a lot less power than GPUs.

I considered pickig up some Gridseed units not long ago...had a deal lined up even (2+ Mh/s/$500 shipped) but then I thought about it and realized the R9 270 a better deal than ANY Gridseed as once mining is no longer profitable a Gridseed will become a paperweight...a GPU can be sold as a gaming/workstation video card afterwards.

Correct, but a Gridseed also comsumes much less power than a GPU. Where do you buy your gridseeds from?
2133  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Pools (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][AUTO-SWITCH] Profit-switch auto-exchange pool: CleverMining.com on: May 18, 2014, 04:24:02 PM
there are 20 coins right now more profitable than LTC we're on ~90% ... how the heck ?

Okay. Let me explain this for the 1631654646435145869884th time.

There is something called variance. That means that even if you are mining a coin that is at 200% LTC Profitability, you are not guaranteed to get 200% LTC Profitability.
Also, a lot of coins have KGW and DigiShield and all that stuff, so it isn't that easy for multipools to get the most out of them.
Get it?

2135  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Black Arrow: Scam? Potential Law Suit and Reporting to Police from Hong Kong on: May 18, 2014, 01:43:35 PM
Dear Brothers,

I have bought five X-3 back in December, and have already requested a refund since April.  But the refund is yet to be received !!!

Have anybody noticed that Black Arrow's bank account used to receive payment is in Hong Kong instead of Mainland China.

I live in Hong Kong and have already approached their bank HSBC to file my complaint.  I have also approached the Hong Kong Police to report the potential internet scam case.  While the Police suggested me to "wait" until 1 May 2014 to confirm the fraud, I have, and now left standing here waiting !!!  I will return to the Police and update the latest situation.  I will also continue with the HSBC Bank in Hong Kong to closely monitor their bank account and will seek to perhaps freeze their asset if bad things happened.

I am also considering to hire a lawyer to handle the situation for me.

If other brothers out there is also considering lawsuit, police case, please leave message here.  We can coordinate the action in Hong Kong here while Black Arrow's office is only in Shenzhen which is around 1 hour ride from Hong Kong.

Regards,

Bitcoinbear

If you live so close to their office why not see if you can visit them to find out what's going on with the delays and your refund?
You can probably see in person what's up and what not.
This sure would help to ease the customers who are awaiting for their orders.

I understand, maybe you should team up with a few others in Hong Kong. Try asking ANXPRO for help, they're a big BTC exchange in Hong Kong and they might be able to put pressure on them.  Huh
2136  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: I would like to trade against Ripple instead of Bitcoin on: May 18, 2014, 01:38:05 PM
I'd like to see a major exchange opening trading books for Altcoins against Ripple.
It would be a milestone on the way out of the crooked image Bitcoin and most Altcoins have.

Such a market would have major advantages and I think its very important to decouple certain coins from BTC.

*facepalm*.

Re: GridSeed 5-chip USB miner voltage mod

Can someone recommend me a cheap soldering iron to do this job? I found this, but a friend said that the tip was too big, and he told me to use this one.

Weller is a good brand, but to find the one to do the job, someone else might have to answer. You can find the pencils for cheap.

http://www.amazon.co.uk/s/ref=nb_sb_noss/279-0000000-0000000?url=search-alias%3Daps&field-keywords=weller+soldering

Thanks. By the way, does anyone know someone that still sells gridseed 5 chips?

http://hash-master.com/item-type/asic-scrypt-miners

http://zoomhash.com/collections/asics/products/same-day-shipping-gridseed-320-420-kh-s-asic-scrypt-sha-miner-ships-from-los-angeles

That's too expensive, I need to pay an additional $49.99 shipping since i'm in europe.
I was gonna buy from GAWMiners but they removed the product.
Has anyone used sevengnomes.com? Is it legit?

I am willing to buy some used gridseeds, preferably with power cable and mini usb cable included. Tell me your offer.

why used: I found a guy in greece with about 500 new ones he's selling for $40 a piece.

That's OK too. Used are supposed to be cheaper, but who is that guy?

forum member: promithios

Sent him a PM. Still interested in other offers.

I've already posted the same offer - people are trying to get $60 to $70 a piece for their used ones....

unrealistic imho

Still needed. That guy wanted to sell me 100 units, I need like 1 or 2.
