221  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: NBA 2023-2024 betting on: April 22, 2024, 05:23:41 AM
I bought a point down with my OKC spread (-7.5), it might not matter as much, but it's better to be safe against the best road team.

With or without Zion i'll always ride with OKC, thinking they'd be one of the toughest teams to beat at home.

https://talkimg.com/images/2024/04/22/j8p3j.png

The under is also tempting to bet on the playoffs, but after watching the Celtics game it's tough knowing the other team can start fouling or push the pace to hit the over.
Zion Williamson is a big loss for New Orlean Pelicans right now. As you can see, the New Orleans Pelicans are having a hard time inside the perimeter.
What I observe in this game is New Orleans Pelicans are attacking mostly in the outside of the perimeter and they are still able to make points and still have a good fight with OKC Thunder.
I'm OKC Thunder on this game but with your handicap, it is kinda risky.
This series is fun, I thought that OKC would dominate but turned out they are struggling against the Zion-less Pelicans, they are lucky to have won the game in a close game, just a 2 point win by the young OKC. Game 2 would be crucial, for sure adjustments will be made but one thing is clear, the currently line up of the Pelicans are strong enough to give OKC a better series. Still rooting for the Pelicans handicap in game 2.
222  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Trading Leverage on: April 21, 2024, 08:34:56 PM
Leverage trading is like gambling, there are people that are making from the gambling and we have more people losing, it's the same logical way leverage trading does but the exchanges are not the ones making the money.

I would not compare leverage trading with gambling. In my opinion, gambling is more tied to luck and chance, while trading is a more rational, calculated activity. Leverage increases risks, no doubt, but the essence of trading remains the same. If a person trades carefully and prudently, then he will do this, with or without leverage.
While leverage makes trading riskier, but we all know that if you’re skilled on it, you will also gain higher chances of making a larger income, something that gambling can’t guarantee. So I also won’t agree that using leverage into trading falls into gambling, except if you are trading from a gambler’s point of view. With that, you will definitely end up with huge losses, no doubt.
223  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2024 NBA Season on: April 21, 2024, 12:30:08 PM
Miami manage to do that before by sacrificing one player that will irritate play Jokic. A player like Draymond Green if Lakers have this can be annoying for Jokic. I dunno.  Cheesy

But did they succeed? No, because Miami loss in the NBA finals and game wasn't even close. It seems like Miami had some trouble against a team that has a dominant center, so I think it will be hard for them to beat the  Nuggets in case they'll be lucky again to win ECF. What I like to see is Embiid vs Jokic battle, these two are the best big men in the league now, and a duel in the Finals would definitely give the fans the best series to witness.

Sixers might have a harder route but it's possible as this season they have been playing great basketball and if they'll face the Celtics in the ECF (x Miami), I think Sixers are going to upset the heavy favorite team.

The series was kinda exciting at the start because Miami was able to even the series in game 2, but the succeeding games, it's always the Nuggets until they win the championship. Heat is a good team but they lack superstar, that's the reality.

They went to the Finals 2 times with Butler leading the team.

First with the lakers 4-2, and second with the Nuggets 4-1.... So expecting them to be in the NBA finals, that's not going to be fun as they'll just loss to the WCF champ. The best team that could probably give the Nuggets a good series is the Celtics, so this team better make sure they'll beat the Heat.
224  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: No gambling today due to bitcoin high transaction fee. on: April 21, 2024, 11:06:23 AM
Maybe in future we will see LN being adopted in some form on casinos so as to smoothen these issues even more and then nobody would worry about fees again.
No need to wait for the future, there are many casinos have been adopted Lightning Network List of Gambling Site Accept Lightning Network.

Even though Lightning Network is cheap, but it's not cheap at all.

If you didn't have Bitcoin in lightning network, you need to convert it, so you need to pay on chain fees.

If you didn't have a channel, you need to fund it using on chain fees too.

And some aren't interested with the lightning network as it could be complicated for them. So why would they choose an LN if they can use an alternative coins. As of now, there are a lot of casinos already that are accepting altcoins and it's not anymore a problem using it as there are exchanges that have a decent volume on it, so it's easier to gamble even if we wager a bigger amount.

OP was just probably discussing about the current situation, but this will be gone soon as bitcoin will be back to its normal transaction fee average. As I'm checking now, the fees are down to $15 already, so tomorrow maybe we will see a max $5 on this.
225  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: NBA 2023-2024 betting on: April 21, 2024, 06:26:15 AM
I would say the advantage is more likely for the OKC, fresh legs and composed of players who really got a good blends and chemistries, they just need to play the same way that they've got, rotate the ball and be aggressive to find the best shot to score.
I was wondering if anyone here know the series odds for this two?.. I was looking at my bookie but I could not find the exact market, I would probably be betting on the Pelicans if the OKC is heavily favored, I people would think that the Pelicans have no chance without Zion, but I would love to try, and I believe that the Pelicans are not gonna be sweep in this match up. I can see now that the Pelicans are +8.5 in game 1... too high, isn't it?

226  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Devin Haney vs Ryan Garcia on April 20 on: April 21, 2024, 05:44:10 AM
Props to Ryan Garcia, dude has power, knows how to sell the fight, it's just that he didn't make the weight, he could be the belt holder now.

The big difference was the power and Ryan is tall as well, Haney can't dominate him that's why it turns out to be a huge upset. I wished there was a poll on this thread to see what's everyone has voted, for sure majority would vote for Haney judging by the comments in this thread.

I was wondering, if you guys still remember, what was the odds back then for Ryan to win via decision?

Anyway, i think Haney deserved a rematch, he should be given another chance.
227  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Simple practices to improve trading (2). on: April 20, 2024, 09:41:39 PM
This is indeed a motivating thoughts that came from you mate, and I really cherish to absorb those very important insights which contributes to the knowledge that helps us improve with trading despite the fact that many scammers roaming around the world of internet.
What I like about is the one you mentioned about emotional control, because on my personal experience I was also a facing struggles those days when my assets begun to suffer of market dip. I've been through hardships and sleepless nights, but I need to move on and continue to learn new ways to improve my trading abilities. Because if we give up, nothing will happen will become loser of our entire life.
Emotions become the best enemy in trading, and many traders fail in the process of trading because they are not good in controlling their own emotions. But everything can be learned in trading, even on how to deal with our own emotions that we think are highly impossible the first time we trade.

Understanding how the market works in trading is very crucial. This will encourage traders to be patient rather than impatient, and to be less greedy rather than highly greedy when trading. If we can't avoid them everytime we trade, at least we can take some measures to lessen them as much as possible.
228  Economy / Economics / Re: Also consider your mental State of health while investing for wealths. on: April 20, 2024, 08:45:33 PM

What did we expect? Mental health has been always overlooked by most often pushing it to the side and saying that it is not real and all we need is a little more determination and motivation but it is not that easy. We need to build perseverance above all especially when we are dealing in high pressure environments.

I think we have come a long way in modern times. There is more of an awareness & acceptance of mental health issues now. There is a slogan, ‘its ok not to be ok’ which I think is a good statement regarding mental health issues. Regarding the statement in the OP though, obviously you shouldn’t make investments & take risks when you are not in a good place mentally, it could have disastrous effects.
Mental health issues are not new anymore since everyone is already aware of that. That it should not be ignored but given high priority above other issues, otherwise you might only regret and face a lot of consequences in the end. I guess this is what OP means, mental health is our first wealth, if you can't treat it right, you will never be wealthy in the other means.
229  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Devin Haney vs Ryan Garcia on April 20 on: April 20, 2024, 02:55:45 PM
Anyway, the long wait is over, the fight will be tomorrow, so guys if you haven't place your bet yet, you should now.

One last look on the betting odds before the big fight tomorrow.

Haney 1.13 vs R. Garcia 7.20.
https://duelbits.com/sportsbook/boxing/match/47663499-Haney-Devin-vs-Garcia-Ryan

Great opportunity for bettors of Ryan Garcia, that x7.20 odds is definitely very attractive.
Haney hasn't loss a fight and his wins are so impressive, now we have Ryan on his way who talks a lot on social media just to get attention, if we think he can give Haney some real problem here, i think this 7.20 should be a lock.
230  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Focus on how much you may lose and not only the potential win. on: April 20, 2024, 06:44:40 AM
Many people start playing only under the influence of emotions. They don't really have any game plan. I assume they will simply enjoy the process itself. At the same time, of course, it is very difficult to get pleasure from losing. But nevertheless, they do not derive pleasure from positive emotions, but simply from strong emotions. But having received many losses, over time they begin to think about certain aspects of the game. This is a kind of decentralized gambling university. Good knowledge in the field of games does not fall from the sky. It must be acquired gradually, along with experience. And experience always means losses.
Some also have a game plan but  along the way they will be tested and they cannot control their emotion, that's when the game plan has become useful. I know a lot of people like that, they'll discuss what to do before the game but they got lost when they are in the game especially when they are experiencing a losing streak.

So it's really important to have a game plan + discipline in order to execute it correctly, otherwise, we will never win in gambling.
231  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2024 NBA Season on: April 20, 2024, 04:10:43 AM
So far Miami looks good without Jimmy buckets but it's a long game.  Chicago started off real cold.  Who does everyone have in the next game?  I'm on the Pelicans, think home cooking helps them pull through like it's been for miami.

Honestly, I'm surprised by the Heat's performance in this game. Looks like the Heat don't need Butler and Rozier to beat an opponent like the Bulls. There are still 5 minutes left in the 4th quarter, but the Heat are already leading by 27 points. As for the Pelicans, if they perform as they did with the Lakers, they will hardly have any chance against the Kings.

It was a dominant win by Heat, it seems like they really don't need Butler after all as we can see the ball movement is very flawless and everyone is getting a good touch. Herro and JJJ doing their thing,  they lead the team in this big win and I'm happy that this rookie is getting his minutes and attempts he needed.
2 teams without their star player have won tonight, Miami's win is just impressive but Pelicans also able to hold on with the lead and beat the Kings by 7 points. Ingram has finally lead the team and he is not limited anymore, the size of the Pelicans have really bothered the Kings as Murray have struggled in this game too. I've seen some sequences where Kings got blocked, so that could tell they played greate defense.

8 blocks vs 4 blocks, and kings also got outrebounded.

now, it's all set for this team, they'll face the Celtics but not in the ECF, and I think this isn't an easy money for the Celtcs bettors as Heat have prove time and time again that they are a legit team, they work based on their culture and we should understand that.
We aren't sure about  this one but the odds are telling that Celtics could sweep the Miami Heat. IIRC, Miami beat the Celtics on the road without Butler too, so this is getting more exciting, love if the Heat will surprise the Celtics again.
232  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin way forward - Towards $100k or $50k on: April 19, 2024, 05:55:59 PM
In last two week we have seen a fluctuation in the price of Bitcoin as at one point it looked like it will drop to $50k but quickly it rebounded back and crossed $71k once again and now it just under $70k. What do you think would be the next zone, will Bitcoin rally towards the long awaited $100k mark or dip towards $50k? I know no one can speculate or predict it accurately but just share your thoughts with any valid reasons behind it.
Maybe this post is more appropriate to ask today as the halving is days before to happen and the
market is showing weak hold in each positions specially bitcoin so for me this might be the downfall, 50k
level is coming and we cannot assure our keeping and with that better be ready to what may happen
any time soon.
I wouldn’t be confident to say that this correction will lead to $50k or below. I still have high hopes that what is happening is just temporary. Bitcoin price may drop below $60k but it won’t crossed again $50k, as the current price is starting to recover again and is seen rising again until it crossed above $70k. Although $100k is quite difficult to reach these days, but most likely, bitcoin will settle at $80k when halving comes.
233  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Hodling or selling? on: April 19, 2024, 05:32:54 PM
The truth about all these is that the act of holding is buy choice and personal determination, it doesn't come just natural, we are in a phase of life where challenges are being faced each day which requires the use of finance to resolve but a well defined investor will always find means to resolve outside tampering his portfolio (regards to emergency funds, reserved funds or savings).

Do we know, those who purchase at different interval for a long time(DCA) often finds it easier to hold than those who buys the DIP or lump sum and just have to sit and watch their investment grow. This is something experimental, I don't have to alter my investment because I am purchasing at my financial capacity, at separate intervals and due to the fact that I intend to grow my investment gradually with time, certainly confronts my chances to sell.
I would say both are actually done by our own choice and preference. You cannot just hold or sell without weighing the circumstances or advantages first, everything should be done carefully and cautiously. Now, in the case where bitcoin halving is probably the next day or let’s say in the following days, of course I would settle hodling my coins. I wouldn’t be this determined hodling tight through all those previous years if I’ll just end up selling immediately. Although selling some of the coins may also be reasonable most especially if you have some emergencies, but if things are going exactly based on what you planned, then settle on hodling.
234  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Can Bitcoin be a full time career for investors? on: April 18, 2024, 09:43:24 PM
It can be one of their business/investments long-term but it it can possible they will let go of Bitcoin for other investment opportunities. This is just my opinion but the fact that we can't assure Bitcoin investment could be long-term and still profitable, it was hard to rely on this. Of course, for now, since it was obviously profitable but can be sure in the coming years.

That is why investors don't just have a single investment but many and this is because they are not reliant on a single investment in order to ensure that there is always backup. If there is a sudden collapse in other investments, they are still able to survive.
It’s risky to think when you only rely for bitcoin for your single means of survival. The unpredictable market itself will add more to its risk which makes it really hard to focus only on bitcoin for a full time job. Although a lot are actually successful with bitcoin, but we also don’t know how hard and risky their experiences were, before they reach their current position now.

It’s always better to have multi sources of investments that generates multiple profits, rather than just sticking for bitcoin where profits do not come fixed and certain.
235  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How to be more visible in the forum as a beginner on: April 18, 2024, 08:46:12 PM
Totally wrong you have got it all wrong.

Just understand one thing that a person might be an expert in the crypto domain but new to forum as there is no hard and fast rule or certification that only thos who grow up their rank in this forums can be expert because there is much more in crypto world outside this forum hence you cannot limit newbie to a certain section and there is no restriction as it's free for all.
You can’t actually guarantee one’s position in the forum and tell that he’s more intelligent and knowledgeable than the other. Most newbies that have entered in the forum these days have come more prepared and that they have stock information already about bitcoin and the crypto space prior to their forum entrance. So you can’t stop these people from posting on different boards which they find it more interesting to discuss, most especially if it becomes a hot topic in the forum.
236  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Trading is not a lifetime job. on: April 18, 2024, 07:59:17 PM
It depends on people’s perspective. Trading is a game of skill. So if you got the skill intact with you, then yes you can really make living from it. Age is just a number. It doesn’t at all matter. If you still able to make profits from trading, then you should continue it, until and unless you are capable of. I have seen some giving up trading in early age also. So yes it completely depends on a person’s capability whether he can do trading for whole life or not.
I guess you’re right. People have different outlook on trading, some are seeing it as quite fun and profitable, while others are trading and end up with troubles or frustration. So it all depends how skilled or capable you are in trading, that let’s you find joy and satisfaction with it, while for those who are still new in the process might perceived it like more risky and stressful because it’s actually hard to trade following a very volatile and unpredictable market. And trading like a lifetime job is like carrying a burden that’s why majority don’t find trading as a lifetime profession.
237  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2024 NBA Season on: April 18, 2024, 01:23:37 PM
Everyone needs to be healthy as this point, one superstar missing could be very big specially if Zion will not play. We can't compare Monk and Huerter missing, of course they are part of the bench, but it terms of impact, Zion could be a equivalent of Sabonis or Fox. Monk is their 6th man, so the bigger impact is that Zion missing the game. And it will be at the advantage of the Kings now. Sacramento is now the slight favorite as far as betting currently, at 1.8x against the Pels without Zion at 2.0x. Ingram is on limited minutes and CJ hasn't had that breakthrough game. Lakers is almost 3:1 underdog in game 1 against the Nuggets.
The problem with the Kings is they are not a good road team. We've seen them play so hard and well on their game against the Raptors but we can't expect the same scenario will happen versus the Pelicans. But honestly, it's really a huge loss for the Pelicans not having Zion, so I think the value goes to the Kings, take it early while the line hasn't move yet because I will.
238  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing] Inoue vs Nery For Undisputed 122lbs Title - May on: April 15, 2024, 02:17:05 PM
There's no problem with money as Inoue is very popular now, he already build himself fighting in his country and has become a top pound for pound fighter I think he is already the number 1 now, so there's no reason his fight won't sell in the USA because he is already popular. If he would move up, I hope he'll start fighting outside in Japan as that's best way to achieve greatness when you have a good record and at the same time the world knows you, just like MP.
There is no problem with money but if Inoue is offered $5 million by Top Rank and $7 million by Ohashi then obviously we know which offer we pick. IIRC, Inoue's fights aren't PPVs so there is no leverage fighting in the US with a lesser purse. Bob and ESPN has to beat the Japanese sponsors' offer if they want Inoue's next fight to happen on American soil.
If Bob believe that Inoue could be better than Pacman and migh become a 9 division champion, then he should be paying him high and bring the fight to the US. We are talking of less than $10 million here, I think that is too low because Inoue is an exciting boxer, so he can easily attract fans to buy for PPV subscription.

Just take the Pacman vs Mayweather fight, ...

Quote
The fight grossed more than $600 million, with the television networks taking in more than $400 million and Pacquiao grossing more than $160 million.[52]
Inoue is worth $100 million i think. As long as he could get a big fight then that will happen but it will nto happen if he stays in Japan.

Definitely Inoue could make that amount of money if he continues to move, but with the current amount he is making, I think he is already satisfied since at the current weight where he is a champion, there's not much money here. Maybe if Inoue will try to move up in weight again, that's the time that he'll have more fights in the USA, but they need to make it faster to take advantage on Inoue's prime, otherwise, they won't be able to break their goal which is to be the 9th division champion to break what Pacman has achieve.

But seriously, does anyone here believe on Bob Arum's comment? Can Inoue be better than Pacman in terms of achievement in boxing?
239  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Tank Davis Vs Frank Martin WBA Lightweight Title June 22 HoustonTexas on: April 15, 2024, 01:10:18 PM
It's supposedly Frank Martin vs Shakur Stevenson but it was called off. I think Martin is not ducking Shakur, but incentive wise, it was reported that he is going to make at least $1 million and could not be satisfied of that amount.

So for sure there are a lot of upside for him to go and fight a even more dangerous boxer in Tank Davis. They have history as said, sparring sessions that goes and there are reports that Martin hold his ground and give Tank Davis all he can eat. But for me, Martin is more of a volume puncher and he doesn't carry power to knock down Tank Davis and on the other hand, he could taste his first defeat here.
Then maybe he will be making better purse on this fight, and I think Shakur is a hard opponent to catch compared to Davis, and Martin probably understand that his style would fit on Tank Davis' style as well. This should be an exciting fight to watch, with Frank Martin being undefeated and has a decent KO rate, I think we will see a knockout here.

240  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Jake Paul to Fight Mike Tyson in Live Netflix Boxing Event - July 20 on: April 15, 2024, 11:56:48 AM
Sure he will be training hard as Tyson has built his name to be a solid KO artist. But I doubt this will be a serious fight. It's called an "Exhibition fight" for a reason, no one will get harm especially the old guy and probably Jake Paul would be able to continue his career as a boxer now.
I also doubt that this is going to be a serious fight. You know how Jake Paul fights and if this is going to be favorable to him then Mike will have to let go with his ego and pride and let the guy win.

With the history of Paul with his matches, it's said that there's always some contract being done before the match happens or even the day the fight has been announced to the media.
About who will win, we don't know yet as there has been no official rules of the fight, or maybe I just missed it..
I think they will just be showing what they got but no one will get hurt in the end, they should consider the health of Mike Tyson, though we've seen him training but I think he's just all talk at his age now, compared to Jake Paul who has been in real fight and is very active. Let's not expect too much or get so hype, just enjoy,  besides, it will not cost us much to watch this fight.

There's still plenty of time to promote the fight, but the world knows it's Mike Tyson so they'll watch especially that it's broadcast in Netflix where membership is not expensive unlike paying a PPV subsciption.
It's more of a comfortable PPV this time since it's on Netflix.

I hope other fights will also consider partnering with Netflix, that way more people would be able to watch and I think they can still make a lot of money considering Netflix has "260.28 million subscribers" source(https://backlinko.com/netflix-users)
