And the golden rule remains - only leave your funds on an exchange for the minimum time - trade and get out.

There is just a small alarm bell related to the vulnerability of central control by a malicious dev or other group - for any coin.

The first point is a great piece of advice, so many people get lazy and just leave coins on exchanges, until someone creates a truly decentralised exchange, buyer beware *cough*Gox*cough*
Well, I'm glad I always followed this rule. Until now, there were three exchanges (Mt.Gox, MintPal and another one I used to trade on) which ran into problems and in at least two of those cases I would have lost a considerable amount of money if I had left my coins at the exchange.

So please, guys. Follow this advice!

ULTRACOIN HAVE HARD FORK I READY LOSE LOT ULTRACOIN I TRY SEND TO CRYPTSY

Status: 94 confirmations
Date: 7/14/2014 11:25
To:UUm5Dag8zYbymFQ4viHHdoRENeDQ4no3Gh
Debit: -7000.00 UTC
Transaction fee: -0.00001 UTC
Net amount: -7000.00001 UTC
Transaction ID: 14673b81e9705c78c6be72c2c03c8104529b07d2cf36defe927949200f43b254

AND NOT CREDIT TO MY ACCOUNT WHERE ARE THE F...... DEV TEAM NOBODY GETS ATTENTION TO WHAT REALLY HAPPENING

I see your transaction in the blockchain, so you may want to contact Cryptsy and ask them what is going on before coming here and claiming there is a hard fork. They are notorious for delaying transactions for days in some cases, especially if it is out of the norm for your account. If you normally send 100-500 UTC to your deposit address then out of the blue send 7000, they are probably going to do at least one manual review of that.

BRET CAN YOU TELL ME HOW DO YOU SEE MY TRANSACTION BECAUSE WE DO NOT HAVE ULTRACOIN EXPLORER

Can you please calm down? This capslock and red color is really annoying...
2226  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [ASIC-RESISTANT] UltraCoin (UTC) - Ultrafast 6 second transactions!! on: July 14, 2014, 02:49:07 PM

And by all means, forgive me for stepping on your UTC forum seniority. Since I only bought into UTC in it's 2nd week, I should definitely restrict my comments to hilarious bitcoin memes and pictures of my tits so not to disturb the UTC elders.

Could not help, but this made me laugh a bit. Nice piece of cynicism. ^^

And... Yeah. Sorry for this useless post. I know it totally lacks any content.
2227  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [ASIC-RESISTANT] UltraCoin (UTC) - Ultrafast 6 second transactions!! on: July 12, 2014, 07:30:12 PM
do not worry everybody, i have 100 BTC and i will buy 10,000,000 UTC at 0.00001
Really? And then What?
Yeah, that's the same question that arose in my mind when I read that ^^
Although it's nice to have people who believe in UTC and buy, it does nothing with the price if all is just bought at .00001...

But even buying from the sell side won't have that much effect (only short term), for the reasons I suggest reading flobdeth's posts. The real value is determined by the real use(fulness) of UTC. And this needs time - remember, all, we're still a very young project. Smiley
2228  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [ASIC-RESISTANT] UltraCoin (UTC) - Ultrafast 6 second transactions!! on: July 12, 2014, 06:58:37 PM
No guarantee, but I think your coins - all but the PoS'd amount - should be safe. Try updating again (with the usual safety stuff like wallet backup) and redownload the blockchain. Your coins should appear right at the beginning as unconfirmed.

What I can't tell you for sure is what happens to coins/transactions which have been used/made in the meantime... But if you do a complete backup of your wallet installation, you can try safely, as you can switch back anytime.

Keep us posted about your issue, please Smiley

I have a Gripe.  Please help them and me.

I want to know what the basic structure of Ultracoin is.
It is not clear. It is not up front.
I have been looking for the exact mechanics of the new POS and even though I have been to their site and looked into the "About" section
AND looked at page 1 of the ANN
AND looked on their site under news announcements for POS
It isn't clearly explained or even remotely clearly explained at all.

I am an investor. I am tied into all kinds of coin activity and the stock market.
I oversee 3 investment funds.

I like Ultracoin - mostly because IT IS developed and is making effort to bridge into real world commerce.

Been waiting on the sidelines with them to get these simple issues resolved.

Catallaxy
Hi,

I guess it's a bit difficult to find now, as the announcement is some pages back. But from memory, I can tell you that we currently have 0.1% stake interest per week, making 5.2% a year. Hope it helps Smiley

NO! I made a withdraw from Ultracoin Pool and after 1 hour there aren't any coins on my account.  There is not even information on MintPal about pending withdrawals.
All coins dissapeared ! a lost a large amout of money !!!! fuck !
How much is gone, if I may ask?
2231  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [ASIC-RESISTANT] UltraCoin (UTC) - Ultrafast 6 second transactions!! on: July 12, 2014, 02:58:35 PM
Yeah, we just go there and say "hey guys, we just had a hard fork and don't know what's happening next, but will you implement UTC anyway?"

Sorry for cynicism, but I have the feeling that we should try to get to know what's going on and - most important - what we can do to solve it.
2232  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [ASIC-RESISTANT] UltraCoin (UTC) - Ultrafast 6 second transactions!! on: July 12, 2014, 01:52:47 PM
So, any news on that? Is the hard fork confirmed or is there any way to reenact this, to see myself that this actually happened?

Or any advice? Is it a bad idea to keep the wallet open for now?
2233  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [ASIC-RESISTANT] UltraCoin (UTC) - Ultrafast 6 second transactions!! on: July 12, 2014, 08:54:01 AM
At Mintpal:

Quote
NOTICE: Deposits and withdrawals are currently disabled for UTC.

Any idea why?
Where did you see that? Seems I can normally deposit UTC...

This POS worked well (VERY WELL - 100's of coins) for about 4 hrs

Then it all stopped - I have waited a further 7 hrs for anything to happen?  I assumed it was because:

"Staked coins must wait 520 blocks before they can return to balance and be spent. When you generated this proof-of-stake block, it was broadcast to the network to be added to the block chain. If it fails to get into the chain, it will change to "not accepted" and not be a valid stake. This may occasionally happen if another node generates a proof-of-stake block within a few seconds of yours."

520 blocks = about 4.3 hrs (30 sec blocks?)

but still nothing happening well after 4.3 hrs.  Do I have to wait a week before it starts again?

I have not spent or recd any coins - or closed my wallet. Has it frozen?

Should I restart my wallet?  Will I lose my stake so far if I do?

any advice?

Thanks

Note that your wallet is not encrypted - that's usually a good idea so you dont lose your coins

Can someone explain this? 4 deposits of 0.00 to no address showing up in my wallet?

Someone should write something up about the wallet UI and how the POS and minting are setup and displayed. At first glance, those mysterious 0.00 transaction records don't help either.
If you double click on the transaction record you can see how many UTC you received but there there's this explanation at the bottom:

Quote

This may occasionally happen if another node generates a proof-of-stake block within a few seconds of yours.

It's all rather confusing because your Wallet has a balance and for the most part the Stake is always showing 0.00 even with the Enable Stake Minting checkbox checked. So how you do even know what your current stake is? Is it the wallet balance?

At one point I looked at my wallet and there was a Stake balance and then I saw the transaction records, so I assumed it had moved coins from the wallet balance to the Stake and was processing them because they all ended up back in my wallet balance with the additional POS payout coins.

You won't lose it, but you probably also won't get more. Just calculate the amount you got and compare it to the stake percentage. I guess you'll have to wait another week.

This is stake in action. Depending on how long your wallet was open, your coin amount should have increased by now. Looked quite the same in my wallet. So, everything is fine. Smiley

Lol, I know that quite well. When I sold in past times, the price almost instantly went up. I'm glad those times are over, now. Smiley

.edit:
I don't mean I'm glad that UTC price spikes are over (hope they are not!), I meant that I'm glad that the times of those nonsense losses for me are over.
2237  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [ASIC-RESISTANT] UltraCoin (UTC) - Ultrafast 6 second transactions!! on: July 11, 2014, 08:12:22 AM
So POS has started. How can I check if I'm minting?
If you have "Enable Stake Minting" enabled, you should be minting. At least I - surprisingly - had 2 "coin blocks" staking today, yielding a total of some estimated 300-400 coins. Smiley
Funny though, as I never saw staking "live". The "Stake" section does not show the coins which are being added to your total, but instead, a "coin block" (sry, don't know how to call it; probably it's a certain amount of coins with the same coin age, hope it is clear what I mean) is substracted from your balance and it shows up under "Stake" (including the staked amount of coins) for a certain amount of time, until it is being added to your total balance again - which should have increased by then.

So block 450.000 is gonna be the last block before POS gets in?

Current block: 441900
8100 blocks to go
~ 2 blocks per minute (?)
4050 minutes
67 hour
2,8 days from now...??

So about 3 days before UTC will rock again?

When will the asics arrive in Holland?

When will V2 crypto-trade be ready?  Tongue

First we gonna win the world championship soccer.....then the rest will follow
Well, could be. Actually, you have the easier opponent (Argentina, right?). We have to beat Brazil, the host himself, today. Won't be easy, but if we manage to, we'll meet in the finals Smiley

Hmmm....that was not easy?Huh

Today Holland will have his revanch for the stolen World Cup of 1978 Argentina - The Netherlands played in Argentina.

On sunday the revanch for the stolen World Cup from 1974 Germany - The Netherlands played in Germany.
To be honest: I think nobody expected that kind of result. But if Netherlands win today, I'll be fine with any result of the final match. Smiley

And... Yeah. I felt quite sorry for Brazil, yesterday. Must be hard to set quite some negative records in the semifinals while being the host.

What is your proof? I think it makes sense to share with others, so they know what they're being confronted with.
