2301  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: We Need Terminology Between Satoshi and Bitcoin! on: January 19, 2021, 10:53:22 AM
I think if the price grows moderately and continuously, purchasing coins to hold long-term will be fair for any kind of budget and for "late" long-term holders.
Well, I guess you want new smaller unit for Bitcoin...unit that accounts for future price increase and is more divisible?. I have thought about that too(assuming that's what you mean) and I have seen couple of interesting suggestions.
Will probably go through this and see if I will be able to come up with something that works well.
2302  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Proof of Work algorithm is here to stay, do not be deceived on: January 19, 2021, 10:20:10 AM
Or just make Proof of Work: energy efficient, very easy to use on mobile devices,  devices for PoW should be multi-purpose and portable.

Certain Proof of Stake based Consensus mechanism esp those that require high minimum amount of stake/coins from participants to participate in full consensus violate alot of the basic ideals of well decentralized cryptocurrency
2303  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Why would anyone use a betting broker? Have you tried it? on: January 19, 2021, 09:53:45 AM
I usually assume such brokers want to provide very useful services that aren't available on betting sites they are promoting. I think such service could include helping those who are restricted for not meeting certain requirements that got them restricted on betting sites. If the brokers are able to provide safe/right betting environment for those who were unjustly/unfairly restricted for their own safety and the safety of others, then I think It might be ok to allow them to bet through the safe/responsible brokers.
The minimum deposit amount is quite high. Sometimes I wonder what are their reasons for using high minimum. It can be unaffordable or very risky for certain people to deposit amount of money they consider big to risk
.
2304  Economy / Gambling / Re: 🔮 Futuur - Predict the Future! 🔮 on: January 19, 2021, 09:15:34 AM
For me, it is also not practical to bet using btc if the results will be years in the making.
A couple of weeks ago, one of the new casinos added the ability to participate in bets using Ethereum.  The project community naturally greeted this with approval and delight.  However, given the Ethereum transaction fees and the fact that it is not very constant and can be excessively large, this event is no longer seen in a positive light.
But if devs add the ability to use other altcoins with small commissions, such as eos, Tron, tezos, etc. The addition of such altcoins would be welcome, since it will allow players to participate with small stakes.  They will be able to add and withdraw their coins normally.  The gaming site will immediately fill up with new players.

Was wondering if the member you quoted is worried about high volatility or/and fees. If he is worried about using highly volatile crypto (and possibly not-very safe cryptocurrency ), I would recommend he stick with Bitcoin.
I really hope the issue of fee/commission and other important issues are permanently fixed in not-too-distance future.
2305  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Hamster powered races on: January 19, 2021, 08:52:16 AM
I've seen a topic about "Hamster powered racing" which is discussed here.
Example:

Topic: 🐹 Introducing mia.bet: Bet on hamster 🐹 powered marble races | beta

However, I haven't fully learned how to play this game.
Guide.
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5206396.0

Maybe this is an interesting game to learn and stake for the future, unique, if it promises.

What I find really interesting about the betting game are things put in place to improve game randomness, and for somewhat transparent event.
Well, I think games like that will need lots of the open-source/public auditing of the physical components to make sure they are actually fraud-proof and don't in anyway compromise on laid out standards that guarantees their provable-fairness and resistance to fraud.
I would even prefer multiple fraud-proof cameras from random and reputable people for publicly and physically capturing the whole game activities and uploading them on safe and decentralized platforms . I think great fraud-proof technology will need to be open-source, publicly auditable, very transparent, decentralized, etc
2306  Other / Off-topic / Re: Imagine "liking" a post and this happens later on: January 18, 2021, 06:17:14 PM
It can be really risky "liking" editable posts without transparent edit history.
I think I like how it's possible to go through history of edited posts on Facebook for this reason. You could replicate this on decentralized platforms or social media by having immutable and transparent edited post history

Wrote this👇 about immutablity:

Immutablity does not prevent you from changing something of "historic value"
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5270395.msg55037915#msg55037915

It's about shared things though, (like things public are stakeholders in) .
I don't think you really need consensus to edit your post, especially as a non-public person.

2307  Other / Off-topic / Imagine "liking" a post and this happens later on: January 18, 2021, 05:46:22 PM
The owner of the post edits the post in the future to something evil... making it look like those who like the post support/like the evil information in the edited post.

Example:
Alex writes "I love cats. They are awesome!"  Alex expects his target (cat lover) to like his post..  The post gets couple of "likes" from cat lovers (including his target). 1week or month later, Alex changes the "I love cat..." post to "I hate this politician, he must be destroyed next month".

This ^ could be used as a form of attack on people who like posts that can be edited but   without edit history. Imagine if something happens to the politicians as threatened by Alex. People who like the post could be seen as supporters of his evil course and may be targeted by "hasty" law enforcement people.

It can be really risky "liking" editable posts without transparent edit history.

2308  Other / Off-topic / Re: Only Women are allow ? on: January 18, 2021, 04:30:00 PM
If you want lots of women in Crypto, you'll have to create crypto-based things that attract women, and you'll have to make it safe and acceptable to society that expect women to be more careful.

2309  Economy / Gambling / Re: 🔮 Futuur - Predict the Future! 🔮 on: January 18, 2021, 04:07:24 PM
Is the play money ooms convertible to real money like bitcoins ? There should be a plan that if anyone collect certain amount of free money, he could redeem it for bitcoins ?
Secondly i think the withdraw fee of 0.4mBTC is little on the high side.
If they make it convertible to real money, someone could be rich in the future if he accumulates plenty of ooms.
that's a free token, user who registered will get 10K free ooms. If convertible with real money will make them broke because Hugosobrinho had 2 Million ooms. as I know Ooms function for growing up your rank in the leaderboard only. more you earned will growing fast your rank into the top.

Wonder if the ooms are coins/tokens. It probably won't be considered money if you can't buy and sell with them.
Using them for just ranking successful members would mean they are some sort of merit based rewards? I think a proper merit rewards should be based on passing defined criteria that is based on good performance
2310  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Hamster powered races on: January 18, 2021, 03:27:11 PM
I've seen a thread like this in the past I can't believe it's on the news now, although I have a little worry about the hamster but as long as the hamster is not forced to do such task and is enjoying only by spinning the wheel I can go with it. I hope they don't stress out the hamster too much if ever there will be lots of players coming in. The owner should have different hamster that's fine with what they were doing and it's all fine against the animal welfare.

They are currently round 28 on this game as seen from the website. Their thread created by the mia.bet staff is not gaining attraction but this one is.  Tongue

Also, from their past races, you can see that the race is not every day. So the hamster himself has enough time to rest.

https://mia.bet/past-races

The problem is trusting those who own or manage the hamsters to do the right and avoid over working the animals.
Things like that should be well regulated otherwise abuse is inevitable.
2311  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Netherlands pilot scheme to allow women to play in senior men's team on: January 18, 2021, 03:08:40 PM
The woman national team of the USA is the best women soccer team in the World. But they can't even win against a U-15 youth team. So I don't expect any women to join a first team of a professional soccer team. It's maybe good for some amateur clubs but that's it.

https://www.cbssports.com/soccer/news/a-dallas-fc-under-15-boys-squad-beat-the-u-s-womens-national-team-in-a-scrimmage/

Interesting link.
Won't be surprised if the male youths were so determined not to let ladies beat them in the match... It would have been an embarrassment to the team.
I wonder how they managed to hand the females in close proximity contest... Some will probably try to be gentlemen and handle the ladies with care.
2312  Other / Off-topic / Artificial intelligence (AI) is as "smart" as people who make them on: January 15, 2021, 03:32:10 PM
I used to be very scared of AI in the past due to certain troubling information in articles, audios, movies I found about them. I won't be surprised if those troubling info are currently being used in massive scale for evil(and "good")

Such program needs lots of information about  things/people... That's part of the reasons you have to be conscious of how you behave on the internet. There are things that are meant to be private and hidden... so they don't easily understand you.
I think AI can be very predictable if GOD is helping you understand them and the humans who made them.
I believe such AI will disappoint greatly and will continue to disappoint and fail those who rely on them for evil agenda if they are not able to be feeding them with the right information, and if the AI is not able to understand and predict certain people/things well
2313  Other / Off-topic / Re: Higher education, is it so important? on: January 15, 2021, 03:02:44 PM
I am absolutely sure that higher education is important for everyone.

I absolutly agree with the statement because this has been taught in every school. Every educated people are aware of education.

All the people want Higher Education but the thing is not all people get it even if he is brillent in study. And this is due to financial problem mostly. Due to this such brillent student are found in street not in university.
And it's very shame that most of the school and collage are giving education just for business.

I belong to Nepal and I had been seeing this problem in my country. And I hope one day the education system won't be like this anymore.

Not any kind of higher is good is good though. What really matter is Education that teaches what is right, and is sufficient for the success of every individual in life.  Teach in a way that your students do well (and what is good always) in life after passing through your school. And learning has to be as simple and fun as possible.

Good education should be affordable too. There should be models that make proper education affordable for everyone and sustainable to fund.
2314  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Does Bitcoin Change GOLD AS STORE OF VALUE? on: January 15, 2021, 10:57:11 AM
Does it have exactly thesame physical/"atomic"/chemical properties as gold?
Resisting those things better than copper doesn't qualify it as gold. It could be something else that has similar properties with gold.

I think counterfeiting could however be a problem if this is very similar to gold, can easily be replicated and can be a possible substitute for gold in most industrial applications that rely on real gold, with little to no problems to the products it's made with, and the products are safe for use.
2315  Other / Off-topic / Re: I can't sleep :( on: January 15, 2021, 10:01:34 AM
Some say when you can't sleep you should take coffee, it will help you relax and you will fall asleep easy.

Sounds counterintuitive but I remember occasionally feeling sleepy whenever I drank coffee... didn't relax me at thesame time though.    I suspect the coffee was reacting badly with another foods/substances in my body and making me feel tired, sleepy, weak, headache, etc, Other times the coffee works as expected - made me awake and active.

I do not depend on it these days to keep me awake. I naturally stay awake and active without the help of things like coffee, unless I want to task my self more to do things when I need rest.

2316  Economy / Economics / Re: Hamish McRae: making reasonable predictions or just another speculator? on: January 15, 2021, 09:12:42 AM
Seems investors are more interested in new highs than sustainablity of the rally. I wouldn't support or be against the prediction because there is no way I am aware of that can prevent extreme volatility. So things can easily move to either extremes if there is no control mechanism to prevent them, promote moderate and sustainable price movements.
2317  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Netherlands pilot scheme to allow women to play in senior men's team on: January 15, 2021, 08:34:00 AM
I didn't know if this will bring a positive feedback to the audience or it will receive an opposite feedback if Netherlands will allow women to play in senior men's team.

Maybe it is understandable if they can just create a different divisions that are exclusively for men and women only if they are serious in bringing women to Football. Well I voted to No way even if the Dutch Football Association already approved the pilot scheme that will allow a women to play in football as I didn't like the way it is even if others wants to watch the game.

Ofcourse, I felt thesame way when I first came across this thread. But the reason they gave is quite convincing and reasonable. I however think the disadvantages could outweigh the advantage if safety measures are not put in place to prevent/reduce problems that could result from the mixing. I wonder if they can sustain effective safety measures though.
2318  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Attention: Biden has officially won, make sure your sportsbook pay you. on: January 15, 2021, 08:13:24 AM
I did not participate in the election bet, but here is my opinion on the matter , you can't claim anyone has won when the result is been contested and hasn't been transparently verified, with the both candidates agreeing to the verified results. Breaking of rules, rigging, etc could easily disqualified affected results.

We are in Crypto World.
"Don't Trust but Verify" is compatible with Crypto/Blockchain ideals. So I would keep waiting as long as possible until full, transparent audit is carried out and both candidates are satisfied with the results of the audits.
Results should be treated as untrustworthy until verification is concluded. That's what will make it fair and acceptable to both candidates/stakeholders.

In other to be on a very safe/side, this remains my advice to betting sites and betting participants who are involved in this.
I see many sites having issues with people if things turn the other way. I hope things like this have some sort of insurance for protection against such situation.
2319  Other / Off-topic / Re: Interesting way to resist sexual lust on: January 15, 2021, 07:59:39 AM
Getting rid of such evil spirit is difficult, you can't do it carnally, you need the help of the holy Spirit, because your heart and soul is the temple of holy Spirit, you need intense prayers and fasting..to make that demon in you flee away.. it's that serious. Draw closer to God, he only can deliver you.

Ofcourse, it's not possible to be truely free from the evil spirit of lust without believing in JESUS CHRIST and getting baptized. People controlled by the spirit are under the power of sin/satan and only GOD can free them from that power. GOD sent HIS Son (JESUS CHRIST) to free people from the evil power of sin that keeps people in  bondage.
Only by believing in JESUS and accepting HIM as Messiah/Savior can anyone know how to tackle his/her unique case of sexual lust and other sins.
Mine was actually through repentance, fasting, prayers, reading/listening to GOD's always(obedience to HIS Word is very important also), being sober etc
2320  Other / Off-topic / Re: Steps forward of robots on: January 14, 2021, 03:24:35 PM
I won't be surprised if they branch into predicting human beings or every human being. Sophisticated AI robot will be able to accurately predict things they fully understand. This is part of the reasons why you have to avoid letting alot of your deep private matter shared carelessly on the internet. If they understand you well enough, they will be able to control or rule over you when things go rogue
