2321  Economy / Reputation / Re: Almost one year disappeared from the forum, what am I left and lost? on: March 14, 2021, 04:24:22 PM
Good to see you back, ChuckBuck.  I'm sorry to hear about your accident and injuries, I wish you a speedy and full recovery.

I understand your addiction to speed, I suffer from the same affliction.  I've been riding dirt bikes and street bikes since I was 13 years old, and have owned many motorcycles since, and had at least one in the garage since I was 17.  I've had accidents, but I've been very lucky that I've never suffered any injuries worse than road rash, and a bruised ego.  I used to take risks when I was younger, but I mostly limit my speedy ways to controlled environments; track-days at the local race track.

It takes a lot of focus and discipline to ride at high speeds and maintain your safety.  The equipment has to be reliable, and requires inspection.  People often neglect their bikes for months at a time, then think they can just hop on them and go.  Even people who commute on their bikes regularly tend to overlook simple things like tire pressure.

Once you're riding you have to constantly lookout for potential obstacles, see the big picture.  This isn't something that can be taken lightly, it's not just some words out of the driver's manual.  You're life depends on how focused you are, and that cannot be stressed enough.

And then there are always idiots out there who refuses to acknowledge your existence, and even then, if they're made aware, they can be dismissive of the gravity of their neglect.

The risks are real, and only those who understand them should ever consider riding motorcycles.

Wow, what a clusterfuck of a thread this has become!

Public Service Announcement:  Everyone engaging in, and contributing to personal squabbles in this thread; you're not helping the situation.  If this were my thread I would delete every post made since March 3rd.

I spent all day today looking for this information but mostly unsuccessfully.

Your question was mostly answered before you asked it.

it could be that I've had a nitrous oxide leak in my house.

Who's your plumber?
2324  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Trezor Wallet Update on: March 12, 2021, 12:47:00 AM
Just downloaded latest Suite version. I haven't even used that app so far, it's first time installed on my computer.
Clear cache, restart PC, but still, nothing happened when connecting Trezor on bootloader mode. The same thing happened when trying to update the firmware through a web browser. (I am not doing this for the first time)

The same thing happened to me once, it turned out to be the cable.  I was using a cheap cable, but of course I didn't suspected it was the issue until after going through the same steps as you.  I switched to the shorty that's provided with the Trezor One, and voila!
2325  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: issues with electrum : Broadcasting Error message on: March 11, 2021, 05:05:07 PM
If you're using an old version of Electrum it won't connect to the servers.  You need to be running version 3.3.8 or newer.  Make sure to download the newer version from the correct source and verify it's authenticity.

Here's a guide that will help: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5240594.0
2326  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Can we stop recommending electrum for Android? on: March 11, 2021, 04:56:51 PM
You can have security pin to login to your wallet everytime when you enters into the electrum on Android and that is the only security feature I know. And having any security feature is useless when your device itself can be hacked or spy using the malwares.

The older versions worked that way, but the newer versions require a password.

Password/Pin, I am using 6 digit numerals as my password that is why I thought it was a pin but anyway not much of difference between them. I am also having the updated version but I can able to make only numerals as my password, is this same with your wallets or alphabets can be used?

Yes, I restored the wallets from seed not long ago, and the software prompted me for an alphanumeric password.  Special characters are also allowed.  If you upgraded your wallet recently but still had the old wallet files in your phone, that may not have triggered you to change you password.
2327  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: paper wallet on: March 11, 2021, 12:25:24 AM
I wouldn't recommend using anything that runs on your browser for entropy generation.

Can you please elaborate on why?
2328  Economy / Reputation / Re: Chipmixer campaign by the constant pressure of the hypocrite? on: March 10, 2021, 11:19:53 PM
One thing that never seems to get mentioned in these "anti Chipmixer" threads is that "money laundering" isn't something that happens in a vacuum.  I can push money around a dozen bank accounts, even throw in some foreign banks for good measure, and it's not a crime.  Moving money around for privacy reasons is not illegal, because it alone is not a crime.  Money laundering is an enhancement to criminal activity.  One needs to have obtained the money through criminal acts for the act of obfuscating it's origins to be "money laundering."

2329  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: I have an Electrum 3.0.2 wallet and need assitance...... on: March 10, 2021, 11:08:11 PM
I deposited BTC in to my wallet in Dec 2017 and haven't touched it since. I'd like to move it to another platform and a little confused as to what to do.

If anyone can please assist, it would be greatly appreciated.

I suggest you back up your wallet files before upgrading.  The wallet files will be located in the following directories:

Windows: C:\Users\<user>\AppData\Roaming\Electrum\wallets
Ubuntu: ~/.electrum/wallets/

You will also be able to restore your wallet with the seed phrase that was created by Electrum when you first set up your wallet.  The best practice is to uninstall the old version and then install the new.  As HCP (kindly) suggested, make sure to verify the download before installing it.

I think it is time to remove Royse777 from the DT list, since he is abusing his status for months already.

Lol, I was just thinking it might be time to add him to my trust list.

~
When Betnomi provided a passport from a customer online (completeley identitiy fraud!), Royse just wrote something that we should not pay to much attention to it and that everybody can mistakes.
~
Please also note that Royse777 bought his account, as user MonsterV already showed the evidence.

Do you have any proof of this?  Why not post some links?

Honestly though, you and your AdkinsBet cohorts have done nothing but attack those who are critical of the service, so it makes it hard to believe that you're being objective.
2331  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Looking for escrow provider who accepts small trade on: March 10, 2021, 09:37:20 PM
Try reaching out to bL4nkcode, if I'm not mistaken he still offers escrow services.

But just a warning, no escrow will protect you if you end up buying stolen keys.  You may not get scammed by the seller immediately, but you'll have no recourse if the codes stop working two weeks from now.
2332  Economy / Reputation / Re: legendster and the story of retaliatory feedbacks on: March 10, 2021, 08:58:06 PM
I had legendster excluded from my trust list in the past, but several weeks ago I decided to remove him.  Part of my decision to remove him was because of my inability to find the exact post which convinced me to exclude him in the first place.  My memory does serve me however, and the reason was due to a post he made while defending his choice to participate in the Yobit campaign back in 2019.  He mentioned that he had been scammed by them, which he said justified his wearing of their banner as an attempt to recoup some of the money he lost.  That seemed like a shitty thing to do.

Since then he's sent me a few PMs mostly small talk, but always polite and frequently asking what he can do to convince me to remove him from my exclusions.  Earlier this year I decided to remove him because I didn't feel that he was such a threat.  However, this latest episode has me believing my original instinct was correct.  Although his reviews aren't blatantly wrong, many seem to share a common theme; someone calls him out for one reason or another and that person gets a red tag.

Legendster has demonstrated quite clearly that he can be a hot-head.  The thread by Mike Mayor is a prim example, even though I think his for Mike Mayor in that situation is warranted.  My objection to his being on DT stems from his attitude about it.  He strikes me as the type who desperately wants the status, and yet can't be objective and reserved enough when he has it.  I agree that he should not be on DT.
2333  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Can we stop recommending electrum for Android? on: March 10, 2021, 06:46:52 PM
Electrom wallet on Windows and Linux is good it gives the user many options and is safe considering that the device is safe.
I have downloaded Electrom wallet on my Android device and it is less than good, it does not contain many features and it does not have a beautiful interface.
I'm only going to use it to read my master public key.
Please, give me a feature for Electrom's Android wallet that makes me keep it?

It's my favorite mobile wallet.  I only have one hot wallet set up to use on my phone, and the rest are watch-only.  As others have said, Electrum mobile isn't nearly as feature filled as the desktop version, but I don't need on my phone.  I only want a light, simple, easy to use wallet on my phone, and Electrum works perfectly for that.

You can have security pin to login to your wallet everytime when you enters into the electrum on Android and that is the only security feature I know. And having any security feature is useless when your device itself can be hacked or spy using the malwares.

The older versions worked that way, but the newer versions require a password.
2334  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: PhoenixMiner 5.5c: fastest Ethereum/Ethash miner with lowest devfee (Win/Linux) on: March 09, 2021, 08:52:38 PM
So, beneath some genuine sounding apologies, we find another attempt to find out our real identities. Despite the polite tone of the message, its contents can be translated to: "We asked you nicely before and you refused, so if you want us to retract our FUD post about your miner, you must reveal your identity to me." Well, we don't react well to threats, even polite ones

I don't blame you for wanting to keep your identity a secret, and good job standing your ground.  I wouldn't have reacted to Nicehash's message any differently.

However, there were a few days this past week where your clients were scrambling trying to find your software, and since this thread is under constant attack by malware shilling sockpuppets, this episode put your clients in a high-risk situation.  Many didn't know whether the software they found was the right version, and there was also suspicion that your Mega and Bitcointalk.org accounts were hacked, or (god forbid,) you went rogue yourself.

Checksums are great, but they don't guarantee that your accounts haven't been hacked, or the software and checksums weren't replaced by the hacker.  To help the members of this forum (and the folks at Github will appreciate it also) I suggest you create and stake a PGP key that you use to sign the binaries and/or the checksums.  That gives the community a second factor for authentication.  If this kind of thing happens in the future we can use the PGP to authenticate your checksums or the binaries and avoid this kind of drama.
2335  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: paper wallet on: March 09, 2021, 01:49:27 PM
While you're at it you might want to think about generating a deterministic paper wallet, in simple terms use the mnemonic as what you write on paper instead of a single key. For example you can run Electrum offline, generate a new wallet with seed, select any wallet type (recommended is SegWit P2WPKH type) then write down that seed phrase (without needing printer).

@OP; Pooya87's suggestion above is my favorite method for generating cold wallets.  Once the "paper" wallet has been backed up you can import the master public key into a watch-only wallet.  This comes in very handy for sending coins to your cold storage while maintaining privacy.  Since only the public keys are available in a watch only wallet the wallet is incapable of spending the coins.

However, Electrum has an additional checksum built into the seeds it generates, which helps Electrum determine the type of wallet it represents.  This means that wallets created by an Electrum seed have to be restored in Electrum.  For this reason I prefer to use Bip39 seeds for cold storage.  You can use a variety of desktop clients (including Electrum,) or a hardware wallet to restore your wallets from the seed phrase.

I recommend the Ian Coleman tool, you can download it an use it off-line for security: https://iancoleman.io/bip39/

2336  Economy / Reputation / Re: The AdkinsBET Army of Alts on: March 08, 2021, 09:14:40 PM
Maybe we need a new community rule.
If anyone support AdkinsBET and make posts to promote AdkinsBET then tag them.

I would be careful about applying such general rules of that sort.  AdkinsBet's shills have been annoying, and they haven't addressed their scam accusations from January, but we have no way of knowing for certain that the accusations are real.  Sure, if it quacks like a duck, and walks like a duck, it's probably a duck, but circumstantial evidence of that sort isn't sufficient in my opinion.

The more DT members go on assumptions and presumptions to leave reviews and tags, the less valuable the system becomes.  Saturating the trust system is already a problem, and this kind of attitude will only make it worse.

I understand the frustration of many members.  Actmyname has made references to how easy it is for a scammer to just switch accounts, create a new alt, or buy a high ranking account, and keep promoting the same scam.  But, if nothing else, this latest episode of whack-a-mole has taught us is that the system can identify scammers and their alts rather quickly.

If someone support a scam, but they did not scam anyone directly then what do we do. Just leave them to support and help a proven scammer?

That already happens on a regular basis.  Look at all the people who got tagged for wearing the Yobit or LiveCoin signatures.  If anything I think there are many people here who are overzealous when it comes to tagging other for supporting scams, and rightfully so.
2337  Economy / Reputation / Re: [self mod] Flag to user DarkStar_ on: March 08, 2021, 04:08:49 PM
Is all this drama over Ratimov being kicked off the Chipmixer campaign?

This is such a prime example of chickenshit deflection; blame the campaign manager and cry "Racism," rather than look at Ratimov's actions.  Let's pretend for a second that DarkStar_ isn't a racist, what other reason could he have had to remove Ratimov?
2338  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: paper wallet on: March 08, 2021, 05:35:08 AM
Blockchain.com is a custodial wallet, and a web wallet.  If they eve get hacked your keys are at risk of being compromised.  Like other have mentioned, I recommend you don't use their service for long term storage.  Electrum is a much better option, but don't forget to verify its authenticity.

Also are paper wallets safe in 2021?

Many will argue (and I among them) that a "paper wallet" is the safest, for all time.  By definition the term implies that the secret key or backup mnemonic phrase is only stored on paper, or other archival media, and not any digital device.  This makes it absolutely impervious to hacks.  As long as the backup is stored safely and securely, your funds are equally safe and secure.
2339  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 🏈🏈 The American Football Discussion Thread 🏈🏈 on: March 07, 2021, 11:13:58 PM
The official NFL year 2021 starts on March 17th, 10 days away.  As has happened every year prior, the rumor mill is getting up to full steam.

Here's a Yahoo Sports article suggesting that the Patriots top priority this off season is to lure Garoppolo from the 9ers.

The 49ers's John Lynch and Coach Shanahan, have been adamant that Garoppolo is their guy.  There can be a lot of talk this time of year to prop up a guy to enhance his trade value but realistically, I believe them.  Who else do they have to work with?  Neither Mullins nor Beathard have been able to win as consistently as a healthy Garoppolo.  The only way I can see it happening is if the 9ers can swing a high draft pick and a veteran QB.  I think the value of keeping Garoppolo is higher than anything another team would offer in trade.

This one seems far more plausible; a CBS Sports article claiming Khalil Mack gets traded for Russell Wilson.  As much as I would like to see Russell Wilson out of the NFC West, I'm afraid this might be one of those "be careful what you wish for" moments.
2340  Economy / Reputation / Re: User SmokerFace - Recycling posts for sig campaign, new way of cheating ? on: March 07, 2021, 06:59:54 PM
From what I can recall this account was returned to the owner several months after the loan was taken. The user could not pay so completed some writing work for me instead.

I do not know what happened once he got his account back, but can assume it changed hands given the change in writing style/purpose.

I'm sorry, but I'm having a hard time believing this, maybe I'm just being overly skeptical and cynical, but just being honest.

The account didn't change hands people here tags someone so easily without any valid proof,, I wouldn't have paid the previous loan by working if i wanted to sell this account.
But Nah doesn't matter I'm off explaining hf playing DT games.

The last password change was two years before the account woke up, which brings up the question; why would someone repay a loan to retrieve the account and not use it?

There are too many strange things about the loan, and whether it was paid off or not.  Not the least of strange things is the fact that Parodium deleted his messages in loan request thread.  If he was afraid of losing his funds he would want those posts there as proof that his loan was defaulted.  The only reason to delete those posts is the hide the fact that a loan was given.  Also, SmokerFace deleted the text of the OP of the loan request thread.  Only a scammer would get a loan and then delete the text of the request.  Or, someone trying to hide the fact that a loan was given...

Another strange thing about the excuse given by Parodium; no reviews were left for the transaction, good, bad, or indifferent.  If the loan wasn't paid, but had to be "worked-off" why wouldn't Parodium leave a neutral review to warn other lenders?

In my opinion the most likely scenario is that Parodium still has control of the account, and tried to use it to recoup his lost funds.  I have no proof, of course, but something doesn't smell right about all this.
