1361  Other / Meta / Re: Trouble posting images? on: June 20, 2022, 07:53:29 PM
I use https://imgur.com/upload and copy the bbcode, it always work fine. It only work on desktop version.

I can't stand imgur.  You can't upload photos without an account, and the adds are as obnoxious nails on a chalkboard.  Most of the time when I post images here they're obviously related to bitcoin, and I don't need some third party image hosting company tracking my financial habits.

imgbb is a pretty decent image hosting site, and no need for KYC, lol.  Maybe it is imgbb that's causing the issue.  Right now I can see all my images that I've posted, but they've been problematic for at least two, maybe three weeks.
1362  Other / Meta / Trouble posting images? on: June 20, 2022, 07:27:52 PM
Is anyone else having trouble loading images the past few weeks?

I usually use imgbb.com for hosting images, and lately I've noticed the "Bitcointalk.org Image Proxy: Invalid Image" warning pop up frequently.  The problem is inconsistent, sometimes the image is displayed fine, other times the image won't load.

Should I not be using imgbb.com, or is there something else going on?
1363  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: What software exists to run a CoinJoin server? [Wasabi debacle] on: June 20, 2022, 07:16:46 PM
Honestly, I didn't even Blockchair were running ads at all, let alone ads for scammers. I just stopped using them cause their new layout is so bad.
I never use Blochair website, or should I say almost never, because sometimes I click on link that someone sent me from blockchair.
Much better and cleaner alternative in my opinion is mempool.space, and it's not supporting bunch of shitcoins like it's competition.
One more good thing, mempool.space is fully open source, you can run it with your own node and you don't have to trust any third party.

Blockchair is pretty decent of an explorer.  I like for somethings.  One of the handy features is that it shows if an address has any fork coins locked within.  I was using it almost exclusively for a while until several months ago when a discussion about privacy caused me to switch to mempool.space.

I've been (slowly) attempting to launch my own instance of mempool, but I was trying to build it from code, and implement it myself with ngix and npm and nodejs, and oh my god what a shit-show.  Last weekend I finally broke down and tried the docker image.  Still having some trouble, but I'm getting closer.

As for the ads in blockchair, at least they give you the option to turn them off temporarily without an ad-blocker.  Not too many sites offer such a feature.
1364  Other / Archival / Re: Announcing Wasabi Wallet 2.0 on: June 20, 2022, 06:36:08 PM
I don't know; but I know that at roughly 1:57:00, a guy jumped in and asked very specific, technical questions. He seems like a proponent of Monero and he managed to make the Wasabi guys pretty uncomfortable.. Cheesy It was fun listening to such a group call where someone chimes in, challenging the founders' statements and swiftly replies 'no, that was wrong!' when they explain something incorrectly; I really enjoyed listening to the discussion. Much better than other such calls where there's nothing but self-praise and advertising.

I hadn't made it that far through the conversation, so I just went back and started listening at around 1:53 or so.  Some other guy was asking "wen IOS integration" as if Apple, or Google, or Microsoft is going to buy Wasabi and integrate it into their operating system(s), and one of the Wasabi devs says "no, the strategy is that we're going to buy Microsoft."...

Buahahahaha!  Yeah, delusional of your own grandeur much?

If the average user loses privacy because they can't select specific UTXOs, too bad. If the average user pays additional fees from UTXOs they didn't want to coinjoin being automatically enrolled, too bad. Automatically enrolling everyone's coins in to coinjoins means that institutions will always have a nice pool of liquidity in which to coinjoin, which is exactly what Wasabi want. They don't care if the average user suffers, as has become blatantly clear by them spying on and censoring said users.
Of course, auto-coinjoin also means they can boast about high CoinJoin numbers to investors, even though people don't even use the wallet and let the funds sit in there without user action.

I must say, the poor community support on Twitter and low GitHub download numbers give me the impression their actual real userbase (and thus anonymity set) may be pretty small.

It seems pretty short sighted of them to pursue this business model, in my opinion.  If they have a large amount of liquidity in their coinjoins, but only a handful of large institutional clients anonymity is going to be nearly impossible, and even privacy will become harder and harder to achieve.

For full transparency: icopress contacted me and he kindly offered me to send him a concise list of questions which he'd directly forward to the Wasabi CEO.
I'm partly speculating myself in this thread, but also gave Wasabi the benefit of the doubt in some cases and generally try to be as objective as I can. Therefore I thoroughly read everything you guys are writing and will summarize a list with the 'top questions'.. Smiley

Kudos to icopress for making the offer, and thank you for compiling the questions.
1365  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: copper member DireWoIfM14 is scammer on: June 20, 2022, 03:33:42 PM
Please stop derailing this thread.  It could be a very helpful reminder for people to remain diligent and avoid scammers.

I received a PM from a new member this morning, asking if I was in communication with him on Telegram.  I was not, but the person he was communicating with was claiming to be me.  This scammer has been at it for at least a couple of years.  His "first name" is spelled exactly like my forum handle, but for the Telegram user name he's using a capitol "i" instead of an "l" in the word wolf, i.e. DireWoIfM14.  The scammer's profile picture is a photo of some hardware wallets that I recently posted for sale.

Here's his Telegram user info:

Code:
@DireWoIfM14
Id: 5256982660
First: DireWolfM14

Be diligent when using Telegram.  Do not trust anyone who approaches you out of the blue claiming to be me.  I will never do that, and you can be sure it's a scam!  My Telegram ID is posted on my profile page, copy it and paste into Telegram to contact me.  I've been under attack myself recently because I don't tolerate any Telegram shitfuckery here on the forum.
1366  Economy / Lending / Re: 1,999.91$ Loan Urgent - Are Copper Member •DireWoIfM14• is extortionist?! on: June 20, 2022, 02:17:26 PM
Are you a doctor to diagnose me?

No, but it doesn't take a veterinarian to recognize weasels and jackals.

If I asked for some money for an airdrop, is that also a joke?

Begging is not allowed on this forum.  Was your request for a loan or an airdrop?

If you think this is a joke, then why are you posting and replying?

You're welcome to use the "ignore" link, you'll find it just to the left.  Problem solved.

Why are you distracting yourself from intellectual work?

Because intellectual work is draining, and humor is therapeutic.

Just ignore these "JOKES"

Good idea.
1367  Economy / Lending / Re: 1,999.91$ Loan Urgent - Are Copper Member •DireWoIfM14• is extortionist?! on: June 20, 2022, 12:39:22 PM
Where did you see comedy?

In your neurotic reaction.

and now you think it's a comedy?

No, not just now.  I think it was comedy from the start.

Tell everyone at once that you didn't give this loan

Only a brain-dead fool would think I was foolish enough to give you a $1k, and it would take an even bigger fool to see that post and think it was anything but trolling.

I think the Mods need to move this thread to the Comedic Relief sub-board.

Fine, I give up; if you won't take no for an answer it must mean that you're trustworthy.  I've funded your loan to the same address where I sent your dollar.  Don't spend it all in one place.

Oh no there was a mistake. You accidentally transferred 1,000$ to another address, you probably have a virus on your Windows/Mac/Android/IOS that replaces the address  Huh  Embarrassed  Cry

OMG, how sad!  Well, I'm sure you're still going to pay me back with 99.99% interest by 6/19/2024 because you're such a trustworthy guy, right?  BTW, that makes the total due $1,999.91.  Thanks.

1371  Economy / Reputation / Re: [great drama] Timelord2067's "homophobic" Trust abuse on hilariousandco/etc on: June 19, 2022, 03:41:50 PM
I don't care if hilariousetc is a transphobe or homophobe or whatever. I care that if I send them BTC I get what I was supposed to get or if I send him something I get my BTC.
THAT IS TRUST.
Now if hilariousetc is a transphobe or homophobe or whatever I might not want to deal with them because I disagree with their beliefs. THAT IS FEEDBACK.

I think one of the reasons that there can be different ideas about how to use it.  The example you give here is not how I use the system (now,) and I tend to disagree with your approach.  It's my opinion that if I risk something in a trade, and the other member honors his obligation, that should result in a positive review for that member.  If the other person risks everything, and I honor my end of the agreement I still couldn't possibly know if I can trust the other individual if the rolls were reversed, so I don't leave a positive review.

On the other hand, if you demonstrate proper use of the trust system, leave accurate, documented reviews, have shown good judgement in selecting your "trusted" inclusions and exclusions then I'm likely to add you to my trusted inclusions.  I don't care if you have any positive reviews or have done any trading at all.  It's my opinion that decisions about trust list inclusions/exclusions should be, to some degree detached from trade history.  Obviously overlaps will occur.

The system is for handling trade risk, not for flagging people for good/bad posts/personalities/ideas.

I have a feeling I should review my reviews for accuracy and adherence to this opinion.

What really bothers me about this particular drama between hilariousetc and Timelord2067 is the death of humor.  It's pretty obvious that hilariousetal was making a joke about the applicable language, but I don't think it demonstrated any bias towards transgender people.  Much like thymos' post in the same thread.  I have close relatives and loved ones who are homosexual, and I don't see anything intentionally offensive in either post.

Fitting to disuses this today, because I'm a sucker for bDad jokes (happy father's day to all you papas out there,) but I can also have a pretty sick and twisted sense of humor at times.  No body is safe, and in the same vane, neither am I.  I think more of us need be able to laugh at ourselves more, and not take our own convictions so seriously that we cannot see the absurdity of dogma that lurks within.
1372  Economy / Lending / Re: Stablecoin lending. - Available Worldwide. on: June 18, 2022, 04:28:19 PM
Crypto fund looking to lend stablecoins.

Collateral free for reputable accounts. Collateral free loans are given based on a series of factors such as:

a) Account activity.
b) Account reputation.
c) Current loan status. (Active loans or not)

I don't know if you are truly new here or not, but if so I suggest you spend a little time familiarizing yourself with the merit system and the trust system before offering non-collateralized loans.

Non reputable accounts have to have collateral to apply. Collateral provided must fulfill the following requirements:

a) 100% collateral. Example: If required loan is 100 USD, collateral must be 200 USD.
b) Collateral must be in the same stablecoin loan is given. No altcoins. USDT loan, USDT collateral. USDC loan, USDC collateral etc.
c) Other collateral can be used, things such as GPUs or other property which is valuable and easily verifiable are accepted. This is for European clients only and the asset must be worth at least 150% more than the required collateral.

No mention of escrow?  Do you expect members to send the collateral directly to you?  As a newbie you're going to have a hard time convincing people you're not here to scam them for their collateral.  Just a warning; some trusted members don't take too kindly to that sort of thing and you may end up getting red-tagged for it.  Even among the reputable lenders here who've been at it for a long time, only a few are trusted enough to hold collateral for their own loans.

And, as LoyceV mentioned, your collateral requirements are ridiculous.  First off, what you're asking for is 200% collateral, not 100%.  Most lenders here ask for about 120%.  Secondly, there's no point in a borrower taking your offer.  The purpose for a borrower taking a collateralized loan is because he's bullish on the coin he's holding but needs funds for something else.  For example if I was holding a bunch of XMR because I think it's going to pump sometime soon, but I need BTC to pay a bill, I could send the XMR to a trusted lender or escrow, borrow what I need, pay back as agreed and get my XMR back.  Borrowing the same currency only has disadvantages, and no advantages.

If you're careful and scrutinize your borrowers thoroughly you might be able to make some money on no-collateral loans, but I think you're collateralized loan offer needs some work.

There is a single comment. Cheesy
Thanks, but no thanks.

Lol, and what's up with that tweet?  What are they celebrating exactly, their dwindling download rates?  You're not going "to the moon" like that.  Four hours since the announcement of their first transaction, and the retweets and likes aren't mooning either.

1374  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: NBA Finals 2022 - Warriors vs Celtics. on: June 17, 2022, 10:36:35 PM
Happy to see Stephen Curry finally got his first NBA Finals MVP. First it was Andre Iguodala who shines on their first championship series then Kevin Durant got the 2 Finals MVP later on. Curry deserves that Finals MVP that he is targeting for long. He now becomes the first player winning the NBA Conference Finals MVP and NBA Finals MVP.

Andrew Wiggins almost took the Finals MVP if he is consistent from Game 1. Another shadow again to Steph Curry if ever as Finals MVP are based on Finals series and it doesn't exclude the whole playoffs series.

Wiggins was on fire in game 5 and last night as well, but it wasn't even close in my opinion.  Curry is on the way to becoming a GOAT.  He's such an amazing player; at his size and age to among the most productive players in the league.  Curry scored 187 points in the Finals, vs. 110 for Wiggins.  Just for that alone.  Curry was double-teamed for most of his least productive game.  Wiggins benefited to the tune of 26 points in his most productive game.

Don't get me wrong, I'm happy Wiggins is on the team, but to think that he almost took the MVP away from Curry just shows how ridiculous the voting can be.
1375  Other / Archival / Re: Announcing Wasabi Wallet 2.0 on: June 17, 2022, 08:02:33 PM
Isn't Wasabi supposed to be a completely non-custodial wallet?
It is completely non-custodial wallet, in the sense that you have access to the private keys and that it's open-source.

That's what I thought.  IIRC, it is a bip39 compatible HD wallet, correct?

Does the pool just send those funds back to the address from whence it came?
The coordinator probably just refuses to include you to the CoinJoin.

This is what I don't get, and I apologize for my ignorance.  I should download the new version and play around with it so I can become more familiar with the way it works.  Don't you have to send a transaction to the Join Coordinator server, and if so and it's rejected, what happens to that transaction?
1376  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: copper member DireWoIfM14 is scammer on: June 17, 2022, 07:56:45 PM
Choose a normal name  that any modification of one of the characters in it is visible and anyone can distinguish that it is not your account, and from here, you do not need to report to the Telegram administration to ban that account because you changed your account username here..
I honestly think that's just waste of time as even if he goes through hassle of doing that, scammer will just use the name of some other reputable member.

I agree.  There are plenty of reputable members who's names can easily be mimicked.  I picture this douchebag as having a whole stable of accounts he breaks out when the opportunity presents itself.   If one of those members changes his name, he could just a few weeks or months until everyone is used to the new name and mimic that one as well.

I don't know if there is a form that you can fill out to describe the issue you had with that user. Maybe there is an alternative way through a support page as well.
Regarding forms, you can use this link https://telegram.org/support, but I think that's what @DireWolfM14 already used. Another way to report scammer is via https://t.me/notoscam. Problem with both of these ways is that it usually won't work with just 1 report. I reported dozens of accounts, provided screenshots etc and never managed to get a single account tagged so in the end I just gave up.

I did indeed send a message to the support link, but not the notoscam link.  I'll submit a report using that link as well.

Sportsbet.io named brand of the year at EGR Marketing and Innovation Awards 2022.
Yolo Group brand takes home top title as Kaizen Gaming nets hat-trick across sportsbook, personalised and socially responsible categories

Sportsbet.io was named brand of the year at this year’s EGR Marketing and Innovation (M&I) Awards in a star-studded night in southwest London.

The Yolo Group brand took home the top gong on the night, wresting the title from 2021 winners Sky Betting & Gaming.

Wow, that's an impressive achievement.  Great job, guys and congratulations on an amazing run.

Sportsbet.io has managed successful, major sponsorships with Premier League clubs such as Arsenal and Southampton over
the last 12 months.

The only members of the team that I really have had any interaction with are you and jeremypwr, and I know you guys are very dedicated.  If you two are an example, I imagine this team can do anything.

Wooo! Have a good weekend guys!

Have a great weekend, Steve.  Please pass on my congratulations to the rest of your team.

I think you should talk to @theymos, asking him to change your account username to something that can be noticed because I thought you was the real scammer when I read the topic title for the first time.

It's pretty hard to see the difference, and on Telegram it's even harder.  The capitol "I" looks nearly identical to a lower-case "L" with the font used for Telegram user names.  I thought about asking theymos for a name-change, but unless I can come up with a character set that's impossible to mimic with this tactic it'll just be a temporary fix.  I really don't want to play that game, and it would feel like I was caving-in to that piece of shit.

And, mine isn't the only account he's attempted to mimic, I recall someone (probably the same guy) attempted this scam by mimicking monbux, Condoras, The Pharmacist, Royse777, and I'm sure there are more that I'm forgetting, and many that I've never known about.  As far as I know, this is the first time I've heard of someone actually getting scammed by the "DireWoIfM14" account, but I've had at least three people warn me that he was running around with that handle.  That makes me think that most people are able to figure it out and avoid being scammed.  Which makes me wonder how worthless this guy's time be, if he's wasting it scamming people for VCCs.  I mean really, how many people do you have to attempt this on before someone finally falls for it?

My favourite mobile wallet sold out advertising a scam

Would that be Eclair Wallet?  I haven't used it since Electrum implemented Lightning.

I have largely avoided blockchair since their horrendous redesign last year.

Me too.  I used to really like their site, and I was excited when they launched their chrome extension.  I figured it was going to make searching for addresses much easier, but oh my god what a nightmare.  It made chrome slower than molasse in winter time.

mempool.space is where all the cool kids go. Wink

I was using mempool before it was cool. [/gen-x-er mantra]
