I'm thinking on betting on the Knicks tonight against Miami, I know they are bound to lose but they are definitely playing great. Anthony, Porzingis and Afflalo had been on fire lately, they beat the Hawks in both games fair & square. 3.6 odds at Directbet...

Thanks for your replies, basically I'm not too worried about it since I planned to hold for the long term, I didn't sell nor even think of selling my share because I know DGB has a good future. I will be lying if I didn't admit that it was stressful though, many here are "early adopters" so 30 satoshis is still a good price if you got in at 10, but if someone bought at 80-90 like me just to see the value drops to 30 in less than a month I think it's not that difficult to understand our frustration.

I'm not the paranoid type so I tend to think about what can they do to me if I did nothing wrong. However if you happen to be involved in a legal case, even if you are 100% innocent you can bet they will use anything they can against you. But what they'll find it's just some posts discussing economy and currencies? So it goes both ways. Bitcoin won't be declared illegal, there are plenty of important people and companies already on it, we are not holding weapons of mass destruction here!

I think many here still use BTC to buy illegal goods or services, that's why there are always defending their right for anonymity and secrecy. You are exposed wherever you go, Bitcoin is easily traceable if they really wanted to.

I invested money into DGB when the price was more than twice than it is now. I don't consider myself a trader, I'm more of a investor if you will, however I've no shame in admitting I'm a beginner. Many here were hyping the coin to no end knowing that the price was pumped. Many more are still arguing this is the way to go, to keep quiet when price is down and to basically hype when it's up. What's the point of that? You will get people like me who become infuriated when the coin loses almost all of its value in less than a month.

I did whine about the price, then I understood there's nothing we can really do so I stopped. But my point is that it's better to just discuss it even if it seems like FUD to most (that's just sad) than to leave it alone. DGB project did nothing wrong when the price started to decline and sadly it did nothing that great when it was pumping. For newbies like myself, it's better we get the truth so we can decide for ourselves than to invest in something that it's clearly not what it seems.

I have faith DGB will recover because it's a project that's been around for years already and eventually will stand on its own. I say we must let it learn how to walk by itself even if it tumbles.
2326  Other / Meta / Re: If you want to buy BitcoinTalk, how much would you offer theymos ? on: January 06, 2016, 05:00:58 PM
I think this forum is priceless or we don't have the digit to give this site a value to be sold and if it get ever sold to new owners or groups than i doubt it to sustain. How this forum has let other users to get paid for their contribution in forum without risking the sustainability of the forum is quite amazing. And all users including me like to appriciate how well this forum is maintained focusing more on users rather than site's profit.

Yes I think we can all agree on that, but we are just trying to answer the main question. If I were the owner I would not sell it for the amount I gave. I didn't even took into consideration the monthly expenses for maintaining it (server, developers, etc). Buying something that isn't even for sale would be much more expensive of course.

I would be interested, just curious really to know some approximate revenue figures. I know forums don't do really well so many here are talking about figures I'm not sure are very practical. Anyone know what a forum like this makes in a month or so in the current state? Hope I'm not asking something too confidential hehe.
In last two week it earned 14.75 BTC.

Thanks, that's really interesting. Well then that's 360 BTC a year. If you multiply that for 3 years worth of revenue which is very generous that would be 1080 BTC. I think something around 1000-2000 BTC would be fair. So I very much agree with ETFbitcoin basically.
2328  Economy / Economics / Re: If Bitcoin goes up very high should i buy a house? on: January 06, 2016, 04:27:07 PM
I can't think of a better investment, land and properties are the only things left that will always maintain value no matter what, location is the most important point of course. You would need to do your research first and find a good deal but you could even rent it and make money off it if you won't be living in it. An investment goal like that is what most of us should have in mind. It's fine if others may want to do a trip, buy a car or smaller things like that, but buying property or land is the only way for me to really establish yourself for the future.

2330  Economy / Speculation / Re: Everyone is hyping about bitcoin price in 2016 on: January 06, 2016, 04:13:26 PM
If I was in the BTC prediction business I would've retired by now. No one can have a clue about what'll occur. It's still standing and there are more transactions. That's a good sign and that'll do me.

Exactly, what we can be relatively certain is that the value increase every year, this one is a little different but we should close the year at more than $500 I suppose. Other than that we can't really know how the halving will affect the value. You can have two complete opposites arguments with perfectly valid points.
2331  Economy / Speculation / Re: What if we sit at $310-$340 for 2 more years? on: January 06, 2016, 04:10:45 PM
The minute Bitcoin starts to lose value and keeps it downtrend it's finished. Bitcoin has been growing year by year so the price can't really remain stable or decrease because if there's more adoption and demand, the price should always increase unless there's a dramatic event that makes it tumble. That's to me is clear. The real problem though is that I don't think Bitcoin has found a real demand from common people yet, either to buy digital goods or to send money overseas, the usability it's just not there yet for the average person. If this continues to happen and Bitcoin doesn't evolve it may face troubled times.
2332  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: NBA 2015-16 Regular Season Discussion on: January 06, 2016, 04:05:00 PM
My picks:

Moneyline
Cavs @ Wizards - Cavs @ 1.28
Nuggets @ Timberwolves - Nuggets @ 2.32 (I think the 6 game losing streak of Nuggets will end here)
Raptors @ Nets - Raptors @ 1.31
Knicks @ Heat - Heat @ 1.25
Pacers @ Orlando - Pacers @ 1.79
Pistons @ Celtics - Pistons @ 2.24 (Worth to try)
Mavs @ Hornets - Mavs @ 2.74 (Worth to try)

Point U/O
Cavs @ Wizards - Under 199.5 @ 1.87
Pacers @ Orlando - Under 196.5 @ 1.97

Very nice picks Harizen, I can think of many parlay combinations with those matches. I think the safest bet with the highest odds here is Cavs @ Wizards - Under 199.5 @ 1.87. Cavs in Moneyline pay too little, they are rolling right now and should handle the Wizards just fine with they way Irving is doing but 1.28 is too little for such risk imo.

I can't really understand your points EPLDCC, I'm clearly not part of this "community" as I fail to see what's required of me. I have a purpose for my investments, my goal is to make money, my purpose is personal. The minute I didn't donate this money you can call me greedy if that's your point. I don't care about your definition of greed, it's your personal take on it, for many people investing hundreds or thousands of dollars in a cryptocurrency is nuts from every perspective.

DGB to me is the same to me as many others investments. I'm fond of it, I want the project to do good even if I sell my share but I don't consider I belong to something greater than life or that I can be a better person because of it, I just hold some, that's it. I just invested some money into it and I know the project have serious people behind it. Maybe I'm missing something, it's like I signed up for a sect and I'm not doing my part so I'm being cast out from something I didn't know it was a thing.

The main issue the last couple of months has been the price decrease even while there were plenty of announcements being made. It was discussed here, not because of the glorious members of this community (they mostly tried to keep it as silent as possible which to me is unethical) but because of us, the rest who are not part of it and asked questions while the rest of the thread seemed like a circle jerk reunion. Many got answers (that the market is heavily manipulated and we can do nothing). The truth even if it temporary drives the price further down (or up) is better than the hype and the silence which is what you preach. What's the point of hyping when it's rising if you know it's artificial? Same for being quiet when the price is down with no reason except manipulation. If you are here for the long run, then you call it what it is, any other way is pure dishonesty.
2334  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: German Government Tracks Bitcoin Transactions To Prevent Terrorism Financing on: January 06, 2016, 03:43:10 PM
It's too late now either way and tracking is fine of course if they want to do that. The real problem is that as I said this is another stain in Bitcoin name, these are the type of news that stick in people's mind. Imagine if an european country declare Bitcoin illegal due to something like this. We'll all know the logic is flawed because fiat should be banned to, but the damage would be still be done and it would be unrepairable.

That's just plain wrong because I am one of those people you mention and I'm still part of the "community" like it or not until I sold my last DGB. For many of us the project is great but that's about it, we are not curing cancer or volunteering for a cause. I'm not friends with anyone in the team but I'm sure they are great people.

My point is, if there's a problem and the price is down it should be discussed as it was. And if you don't you will be attracting people like me who are in just for the money. Perhaps you should read the first page again, maybe you can find lines like "goal price $1-10 per DGB". When there's money involved you are exposed to this. And you'll have to deal with it.

2337  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: REGULATION: Allow me to give you an Idea of What Is at Stake/a Day in the life on: January 05, 2016, 08:27:32 PM
If you are implying that regulations are not needed you are fooling yourself. I won't quote Uncle Ben from Spiderman, but really, if Bitcoin will hold such power and become a world's leading method of payments and transactions it will be also be subject to great scrutiny if you will hehe. It's just the way it goes because if not you will have the same problems we have right now with scamming sites, casinos and "investments" opportunities, it's the wild west.
2338  Other / Archival / Re: Do you think bitcoins will disapear or become unused? on: January 05, 2016, 05:12:50 PM
There's a big chance that BTC can disappear in the upcoming years due to lack of use really, it can only stay as a commodity for so long where there's no actual use for it. To avoid that Bitcoin should find a niche or become the standard for a method of payment, either digital goods or big transactions. Right now it's not needed at all for the common person.
2339  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin to go to US$800+ on: January 05, 2016, 04:50:46 PM
Not sure if this will happen this year, if Bitcoin continues its rising trend from past years, then we can safely say it can be around $500-600 by the end of 2016. So if it continues that same estructure then $800 can happen somewhere between 2017 and 2018. Of course the halving could have a major impact this year and we can all hope we can see $800 in the upcoming months.
2340  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: In gambling, Money is more important than knowledge and luck on: January 05, 2016, 04:42:29 PM
Depends on the strategy or goal you have in mind. There's a big chance you will lose it all but I agree that if you have enough money you can bankrupt entire casinos, it's been known to happened many times in Vegas.
