241  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Warning by Coinbase of Treasury Rule Change for KYC All Addresses. Poll! :) on: November 27, 2020, 01:53:10 AM
I am probably not knowledgeable enough to post an answer to this question but I am interested to find out what others think of this.

To make this a fair poll though, would it not be sensible to have an option for over $20,000? Just because some may think that this wouldn't make much difference to the price and that the price of Bitcoin would break the ATH before the year is out anyway?

Yeah...likely...but in reality...this thread is 'kinda' how bad can such a rule mess up bitcoin...if an exchange has to have KYC for every transaction made in and out...

I don't see it as doable. Indeed, I see it like in the past ...what was it 4 years or so? When China clamped down on all their exchanges for too much money flowing

in that, the national authorities got concerned. The 'basically' all the Chinese Exchanges moved outside of China to Hong Kong and Taiwan etc. That could be the

the case here, we simply take out KYC and proof on usual sign-up to a crypto exchange in another country...where they don't have such a stupid rule. As long

as I am paying my taxes on such with KYC with these other legit exchanges this Treasury rule can just suck it with no consequences to trying to find if my

a paper wallet is legit (no idea how I'd prove that...swear with a notary public and signature that the public address listed is mine?) ...Of course, if such happened

and was NOT overturned by the new Treasury head Janet Yellsin..that would also tell us much of how 'rigged' the powers that be would be trying to get rid of

decentralized crypto and promote the centralized bank and government cryptocurrency. So if it comes to that...it will be time for me to pull the plug 20 years early

from them carrying me out to the nursing home..kicking and screaming and become a young person type minimalist. Sell the house all my things fit in the

the trunk of my car and rent and travel and of course buy gold/silver if it goes that route. Seems  a real push by people with $$ capital and power in or out of government

to 'tramp down' any decentralized power...I note the further dismantling of labor unions or pushback on wages and cuts to benefits ...I see the attempt yet to

disenfranchise voting the most decentralized thing in a democracy...by gerrymandering and other games...I see this attempt on BTC/Crypto as the same.

Currently, a guy moves 1 billion BTC for $6 I read. Do you really think, if the powers that be, could put the toothpaste back in the tube and get rid of decentralized

cryptocurrency and only offer bank and gov't tokens that they would not still..even with such..blockchain tech..not still charge like $50,000 or some such to move

such...the labor-saving, the profits....there would be IMHO within a generation multi-trillionaires in the world and in 100 years probably back to feudalism if

global warming is correct...and such centralized power and wealth were to congregate in that bit of time. A Bladerunner future indeed it would be! Sad

I doubt it will come to that even with such a rule and everyone in the USA using KYC in overseas exchanges w/o the rules. But that does not mean this may not

be a play by powers that be to toss some FUD about and dump the price back to under $10k for the next year of this dilly-dallying about to suck up more

of a share of cheap BTC/crypto for richer than god/gov'ts/banks/corporations and individuals

anyway, I'm letting it ride...if I lose it all as I said above, I'll have more serious problems in the next 20 years and should be simplifying my life and getting rid

of house and rent and be a minimalist and buy into gold/silver etc...because if they can track your use of BTC/crypto now...they will be able to track your

digital $$$ centralized of the future tokens/coin of the future..probably down to your chewing gum expense for a year with a click of a button.

end of rant..but screw...it..I'll HODL...my hoard probably averages out to less than $1,000 a coin, being in since 2013...so for me to actually 'lose' $$$ on this

even with cap gains and state taxes..is so ugly....it still would not affect on me ...the whole works would still be profitable. So screw the Treasury.

I'm just gonna keep accumulating BTC/crypto dust....get my Will and Affairs fixed up...and let my friends and relatives deal with this in the future.

which means I will be remembered

1) riding this unicorn fart/rainbow/magical/dubious fairy dust BTC/crypto money into the ground as worthless as green stamps then Sad

or

2) they will be practically ancestor worship me as Brillant with this strategy Smiley

As they say boom or doom! pump or dump! we will be the first to know..sorry as to me..I'm kicking the can down the road...I figure I'm already

an asshole retired with enough monthly income...after I'm gone we will see if the 'virtual land ranch' of BTC/crypto was located just outside of

Las Vegas in the boom times of prices...or was located just outside of death valley and worthless

chump or champ

how it goes

242  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: How many Litecoin Forks (ones that pay coin on fork) are there? Curious! on: November 26, 2020, 09:04:19 PM

So as far as everyone knows on here, Litecoin Cash LCC is the only Litecoin fork that also paid out at the Litecoin Cash LCC fork date 1 to 1 on Litecoin?

https://www.btctimes.com/news/us-treasury-may-crack-down-on-self-custody Febuary 18th, 2018.

I see a lot that 'claim' to be a fork of Litecoin...like Litecoin Plus LCP ..which is a hybrid/pow algo coin.

But again, as far as I can tell, Litecoin Cash LCC is the only fork of Litecoin that actually paid out 1 to 1 as a 'real' fork?
Th
I know that Litecoin forks of any flavor are not likely to amount to anything at all..but I thought there were at least 2 Litecion forks that paid out, supposedly.

Perhaps, there was a deadline or something. Again, put this thread up in pandemic and bored..thus am just curious and bored enough to ask here.

The only other fork I know of that did payout in the above manner recently was of Bitcoin Cash ABC (BCHA).

Stuff like Bitcoin 2 as another example is not 'true' forked' coins from the main chain.

Again, just curious about the Litecoin angle on this....but I suspect again, Litecoin Cash LCC is the only real fork of Litecoin...lame though it may be

at 18.5 cents for 100 Litecoin. Lame indeed, from past hype! Sad

243  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Warning by Coinbase of Treasury Rule Change for KYC All Addresses. Poll! :) on: November 26, 2020, 08:47:02 PM
What do folk think of the likelihood of Steven Mnuchin of the Treasury Department under the lame-duck Trump Administration and Coinbase CEO's concern?

of them putting in place a requirement that any crypto going in/out of a USA exchange must have KYC to custodial wallets and/or where ever. In other words,

I would have to do a KYC on the fact I own my wallet in some manner. I've no frigging idea how that would work on my paper wallets.

https://www.btctimes.com/news/us-treasury-may-crack-down-on-self-custody

So a couple of things come to mind.

1) Treasury Department does above, the next Biden Administration simply undoes the requirement from this lame-duck attempt by Truwhip Administration.

2) Treasury Department does above, and as some commentators have suggested only a legislative fix (hard if Republican Senate) could undo such. Thus,

if gridlock was to ensue...would take years to undo this.

3) The next Biden Administration, lets it stand, or can't undo such without bi-partisan legislation (gridlock likely under current Senate) Sad

Obviously, this is much like China tried to do with their exchanges back in the day, and backed way off and  undid most of their rules eventually, IMHO, to

me it would just mean USA exchanges would be 'dead' to me and I'd do my 'legal' KYC stuff with an exchange in another country that did not require

this extra USA step.

What do you think of all of this? I think the odds of this are quite high, Trump has been doing dubious things with pardons and executive orders

I don't think he is even fully warmed up yet.

Also, IMHO, if this was to stand for any length of time I'd think we'd probably be back to $9-10K Bitcoin again or lower..just from the clusterf*ck or

damn near impossible enforcement if you wanted to stay a USA exchange. If such came to pass, and the Biden Treasury department left this in

place, it would be easier IMHO for Coinbase www.coinbase.com to locate out of the USA, then for them to keep track of every address on

your Trezor wallet for in/out dust of any BTC/Crypto.

Add, hopefully, more information you come across on the thread

take the poll on BTC price if this was to be implemented likely date of Jan 1st, 2021 if I was putting it out on the world in a lame-duck administration.

so it goes

Bitcoin/Crypto always drama!

Take the poll on what you think BTC price would be if the above was implemented.

244  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Rack Style Mining (AntRack) on: November 26, 2020, 08:30:04 PM
As I said in my post above..from an economy of scale situation...big miners in China will just kill on this. No Tariff. 2c-4c kWh electric. Less space (water-cooled). Hot swapping would allow you to mix and match pow algo

modules by day..in other words you could mix-match 5mh (say they are older) BTC modules (or hell they could be cards within a module) and say newer 4nm ETH or someday etc modules with hot swapping by the

day/couple days/week vs profitability. Bitmain will of course mine the hell out of any POW (you pick BTC/ETH/LTC) or whatever to the max 3 months ahead of pre-order sales of such with a release of 3 months after that .

...tis, how they roll...

I suspect the price will be attractive (like plug and play big boy toys...antboxes) to huge big miners in china etc...will pretty much IMHO be the death bell for midsized or small data halls for the rest of the world, Too

much capital to invest to get these up...only maybe big data halls play toys. Again, I think if you want to toss around $50k for a fully built antrack of your configuration not counting the building and water-cooling

setups

you will kill in china on these..in say texas at 4-6c kWh..meh...not sure how you would migrate if you already got on the s19 bandwagon but sure offers a lot more profit options vs stand-alone units on top of 2-4c kWh

for the China Miners vs the rest of the world. Bitmain: We Do Evil Well! (tm Bitmain)

anyway, re-looked above, most of you have seen Bitmain antics 2x to 3x along these lines before. I also will bet my own $$$ again, that the antrack concept will be where ALL pow miner makers go now...including

water-cooling etc, it just makes to much sense to get the big dollar folk to play. Also, as Bitmain also states...works in nicely with there 'supposed' everyone cloud mining dream you can buy into in the future (not) but

that is the hopem there they are pushing also besides above antrack. The data hall that spent 16 million in Texas for s19s must be kicking themselves (unless they are getting them sooner than January 2021 pre-

orders) https://cointelegraph.com/news/bitmain-inks-18m-bitcoin-mining-rig-sale-with-riot-blockchain. Anyway, they are in North America, again I think Texas.

Brad
245  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / How many Litecoin Forks (ones that pay coin on fork) are there? Curious! on: November 26, 2020, 03:18:59 AM

I have a mess of Bitcoin Forks I keep track of...off of my 'legacy' Bitcoin Addresses...that had enough coin for such to matter back in the day.

I was bored. Pandemic and all. Some of those, lesser-known ones, are still worth a few bucks if I'm trolling through old Bitcoin Paper Wallets.

So I got to thinking. I know there are a few that have forked off of Litecoin, but how many are 'legit' forks that would match the forked LTC coin

at the ratio, you held it on your Litecoin Wallet Address?

So far I've found the following below, with links to their existence. I'm assuming the only ones that would pay 1 to 1 on the fork say 'mineable' in the links.

I'm using www.coinmarketcap.com

LTC or Litecoin    https://coinmarketcap.com/currencies/litecoin/

LCC or Litecoin Cash    https://coinmarketcap.com/currencies/litecoin-cash/

LCP or Litecoin Plus     https://coinmarketcap.com/currencies/litecoin-plus/ Don't think it paid forked!

So anyway, any others? Not a big deal 100 LCC is 0.2167 cents USD. LOL!

Anyway, was bored and curious.

246  Economy / Economics / Re: Still confused why bitcoin is so bullish? on: November 22, 2020, 11:34:50 PM
Well, this was said about GrayScale BEFORE the pump on June 26th, 2020.

https://cointelegraph.com/news/at-this-rate-grayscale-will-own-34-of-all-bitcoin-by-january

quote from above:

-----

Grayscale Investments has added 19,879 BTC to its Bitcoin Trust in the last week, purchasing Bitcoin faster than the tokens can be mined.

-----

further down in the above article

-----
Grayscale is cornering the market
Grayscale has bought 53,588 BTC in total since the May 11 halving, equating to an average of 1,190 BTC per day. If it keeps buying at this same daily rate it will own 3.4% of the world's BTC supply (625,069 BTC) by January 2021 — and 10% by the time of the next halving in 2024. June 26, 2020

-----

OK, on that date of June 26th, 2020 the Bitcoin price was according to Coinmarketcap www.coinmarketcap.com at a price of $9,168.83 USD.

-----

As of today's post and time (see forum time above on this post) the price of Bitcoin, again, according to Coinmarketcap above, at a price of $18,490.74 USD.

So the price was going up due to the scarcity of Bitcoin available anyway, with all the HODL'ers IMHO and then it got Supercharged when PayPal also

decided to 'jump into the pool' and add to the buying pressure vs the sell and mine pressure of available coins, IMHO anyway!

quote for PayPal below....on what folks think from the article "Is PayPal driving the bitcoin spike?" from November 20th,2020.

https://www.ft.com/content/b18335fe-1926-48f5-9522-c99d27b07ade

ITBit is owned by Paxos, PayPal’s broker-dealer. Morehead estimates the above volume spike indicates PayPal may already be buying more than all the supply of newly issued bitcoin that’s available (currently there are 6.25 bitcoins mined every ten minutes.)

Lastly, the usual thing people forget, is that out of the 21 million Bitcoin 'ever' to be mined...about 18.5 million Bitcoin 'have' been mined. Since the halving of 2020

https://www.coindesk.com/third-blockchain-halving-turns-out-non-event-bitcoins-price May 11th, 2020. The Bitcoin dropped from 12.5 Bitcoin per Bitcoin

block to currently 6.25 Bitcoin. In that, the halving was about 6 months and 9 days ago..

well, you add all the above up...and the current economic/pandemic/political/recession and such...I'm kinda surprised we are not already at $20,000.00 Bitcoin!

It, as usual, a fight between those that HODL vs those that 'need'/'want' or other 'real-life issues' need to sell...and right now HODL'ers are not budging and

adoption is struggling to find Bitcoin 'even' dust, to sock some away.

I also will make a small 'guess' here that IF the Trump Administration 'was' to concede the election and get the Biden Transition back on track...the stock

market and BTC/Crytpo would 'spike' more...just from the sense of some 'normalcy', That is just my view and such for above. We will be the first to know!

Moon or Doom! Pump or Dump! tis, how this all works (or has in the past since I was in since 2013.) Smiley

I feel like such a fag right now.

Bought $500 worth of corn on Paypal, for, reasons (?) and it's now worth $503 or something.

Winning ?

EDIT: OK. Bought another $500 worth of corn on Gemini to cleanse my spirit, and balance the karmic scales.

I bought $100 on paypal today also, bought like $50 about 2 days ago....so now if i have 'duboius' spending urges I just buy some paypal btc I guess

rather than a 'dubious' Amazon product/book/or whatever

progress of a sort I guess...though...with paypal the only way out is to spend the above..but hey....showing it is worth $156.80 above fees etc

win/win

Whatever happened to that professor in Brazil that trolled this thread for years? Anybody remember his name?

I'm curious if he still has an online profile and twitter account.

Last time I heard from him he made a lengthy negative comment on a pending ETF application when the SEC asked for public feedback.

I know who you mean...he was fuzzy on Bitcoin..but caught the Ripple wave as the centralized coin was the way to go..if I remember correctly....so

different boat..but that was 4 years ago..if he was in HODL mode with ripple same diff.

But yeah, it bugs me, can't remember his name...he was really high on himself ego wise

Hm. Apparently I can "buy" "bitcoin" in Paypal. However I have to set up a "cash account" and they want my SSN/TIN and DOB.

I don't think I ever gave them that before. Need to think about this for awhile.

Paypal is trying to be a bank now...so indeed...I figure I'm so odd that I'm already on any radar of any note with any government or institution so don't sweat it anymore...

251  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: November 21, 2020, 02:55:15 AM
Guys.

My body is feeling pretty fucking ready right about now.
I still feel some sorrow that you sold so low. But things do happen and someone else needed those cheap coins.

Ah, the days when a bitcoin was only $16,500. I remember them so fondly......

Ah, yes...the far past...November 16th, 2020...$16,580.01...I 'mean' we are talking like FOUR whole Mayflies worth of lifetimes here! Smiley ie...4 days! Smiley

What really is a kick to the...well...you know...one month before the above November 16h, 2020 date and price...on October 16th, 2020

Bitcoin was $11,432.54.....and as of this moment Bitcoin is www.coinmarketcap.com at $18,745.22...

How the heck am I gonna keep sane...if it keeps this kinda pace for the next 4 months? or just the averaging out of what BTC has to go up

each month to hit the CitiBank Anaylist's target of $319,000.00 per Bitcoin by December of 2021? The 'mind' boggles! Smiley

You can only 'crazy dance naked' so many times in isolation

at your house, during the pandemic...and then have concerns...about how you cope with happiness...don't ya know. Sad

Check out HEX ya moron, was just 3 days of work for free. You think you can do that?

Ignored.

https://twitter.com/MyLegacyKit/status/1329727586000379904

Sure Hex.. collapsing.. after making Richard Hart rich as fuck... and likely he will need to hide from the regulators... I would think that his way of going about that scam would not have been anything but criminal.. .. just seemed so obvious the way that he was pumping that bullshit with ongoing read between the lines type assertions that likely tempted all kinds of innocent peeps into helping Richard to receive his various paydays while carrying out such scam.

19K this weekend
AT fucking H this weekend!  Cool

Seems inevitable now... within this close... maybe our break above $18.5k today and pushing up to $18,825 within the past couple of hours demonstrates that buying pressures remain greater than selling pressures.. and it is going to be a bit difficult for bearwhales to fight off the current short-term momentum...   not impossible, but surely would take quite a bit of fuel to stop this baby at these price points and this current ongoing momentum..

Sure we seem to be coiling at the moment in the $18,500s (as I type).. and sure there might be some downward fakeouts (or downward attempts) but gotta consider ongoing current momentum, too...

Popcorn, anyone?

My google skills are lacking today..but like 2 days ago in the Midwest USA I saw a really, really, scammy TV Add for Hex.com during

prime time. Like 8 p.m. CDT USA...I can't find a link..but man was it over the top..it had supermodels, it had super-fast boats and the Ad said

you want to be fabulously wealthy get hex now at hex.com. Indeed the T.V. Ad was so 1980's uber rich over the top...if it would have been

Bitcoin..it would have set the coin back to $15k just because the ad was so slimy. I literally sat there with my jaw open, saying did they really just

go full pump/dump greed, get some now before it is too late, or your a chump.. full-court press? Sheesh!

Anyway, post it on here if you can find it...but is hard to describe how scammy it was without actually seeing it.

Again, I've no luck finding it. If hex.com is smart, they got feedback and burned every copy. The ad itself screamed SEC investigate hex.com for crying out loud!

I am interested in this game in a few years, when the price of bitcoin will be much higher.

Yeah...I figure this thread will ebb and flow for posts depending on how silly or sad the BTC price gets...

but it has not even been 2 years from the low of BTC price of $3,285.57 BTC on December 16th, 2018

with the current price of

www.coinmarketcap.com

Today's Date: 11/20/2020

257  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Voskcoin going Solar with POW Mining? Wise or Not? on: November 20, 2020, 05:19:45 AM
As what Vosk have already mentioned in his videos, he mines mostly for the continuous passive profit. Yes it wouldn't be wise if you would mine and expect a profit in just a year, yet Voskcoin thinks and sees the opposite. This solar powered mining would not only be beneficial for him in the long run, but also to his kids and grandkids in the future. As what the old miners also have done and still currenltydoing, it is better to invest on something that would give you a passive income, even if it would cost you millions to establish.

Think of his projects as like building a small hotel/apartment, it would require a huge investment, yet it would be good in the long run.

I suppose this makes sense, however, you could also do the same without mining, which means just take the same money and buy BTC/Crypto now and probably

you would be farther ahead ... than the year he says it will take to get this all up to speed. Again, I think about such things often. In my state (Xcel) it makes no sense

in anything more than 10% of your use is the max they will cover...looked at and re-evaluated every 6 months....so at $60 now before solar..anything above $66 bucks

will be the max they will pay you. So no chance of putting up something with 3x the solar I need to sell back to the electric utility anymore, that ship has sailed.

So my only option is to look at this, as Vosk from Voskcoin would look at this. But without something like his channel to show the ins and outs of how this is done

it makes no sense. Much like the old computer tutorial car repair books, where they tore the car down to show how to repair/assembly guide. In other words,

the only reason they bought the car was to make the tutorial book. As with Vosk and his Voskcoin channel...this makes the same sense to get eyeballs to the

Voskcoin Youtube Channel...not that there is anything wrong with such. But in MOST of our cases, I just can't see it making any sense over just using that kinda

infrastructure $$$ to just buy the BTC and HODL it. Now, if you NEVER will buy the BTC and HODL it, unless you leap into POW mining to do so...(dig a hole, jump

in and solar mine your way out) from a long term HODL view...that works also. You do what ya gotta do to HODL BTC. But still more risk with solar in my case,

even if only the same modest setup as he has, and only runs it during the day than just using the same $$$ to HODL BTC. No equipment issues/late delivery of POW based

ASIC machines or one year ahead $$$ tied up to get the solar farm off the ground. Anyway I'm glad he is doing such, but I would be a lot more excited if I could

pull this off as home mining would make  enough to pay off both the solar and equipment..which in Minnesota at ave (used solar calculator) of 6 hrs a day ave charge

time due to earth's location ...sunshine wise...that boat won't float. Unless Vosk of Voskcoin pulls off something to show me how to do or maybe a working method.

But again, it will be fun to watch how he works it out...and hope springs eternal! (er...for me not so much...my regular Xcel full discount Winter costs for electric

now has gone up about 2c kWh to 12.85c kWh...so essentially, the ONLY, way I could POW mine would be his method...and for reasons stated above, as much

fun as I would have..that is not gonna happen. Instead, I'm attic mining crap out of my attic I'd otherwise die with and selling it on eBay and then buying BTC

dust with that..it is boring..it is ugly...but hey...when I get done I'll have an empty attic for a rec room, increasing the value of my house..and all that nice BTC

dust. Also, (damn it) with the Covid-19 Pandemic and retired...I really, really have trapped myself and have no reason but to admit laziness to know do such.

Ah, life, always a frigging catch!
