I just upgraded to the most recent darkcoin client.  It says that there's a security issue and I should create a new wallet and transfer my funds to it.

OK, fine.  How do I do that?  I don't see any menu options for making a new wallet.

Thanks for the help.

send all your funds from your old wallet
to your new wallet !
super easy

the you have a new .dat file
and that is what this so all about !

How do you get a new wallet? I just had this message too. Do you have to install another DarkCoin wallet program?

Close client, rename your current wallet.dat to something else, like wallet-old.dat, then fire up the client again. Because there is now no wallet.dat, it will create a new one. Copy the new address, close client, rename wallet.dat wallet-new.dat, rename wallet-old.dat back to wallet.dat, fire up the client again, send funds in old wallet to new wallet address...

And remember to encrypt both wallets with a strong pass phrase!

One thing that really caught my attention was the future ability for third party companies to issue "crypto shares" using the platform that Banx is using for its initial IPO.  That is a game changer.  My background in venture capital is drawing up all sorts of possibilities in my mind but as I said before, I'm not 100% on where Mark is aiming.

Has anyone here used vertoe's services? What are the fees and commissions other than server costs?  I am sure vertoe is a nice person but don't think he is running MNs for free. Thanks.

Vertoe has withdrawn the service and refunded all DRKs.  There are other masternode sharing services backed with liquidity on the horizon.

How much DRK are you making per MN per day on average? I'm on exactly 0.5 DRK. Isn't it supposed to be 0.8 DRK according to this http://drk.poolhash.org/mnode.html?

Im wondering if their formula is flawed?

IF I remember correctly I think I hit like 0.53DRK/day last month.
Started of the month really good and then it went to shit - lol
Looked like 1DRK/day during the first 10-12 days

I've been getting an average of 1DRK per node per day across my masternodes in recent weeks.  I'm getting just a little less than expected and imho fully within variance.  Will keep an eye on the figures and post back in a few weeks if you like.

Somebody sells 9k Drk and people are having kittens?  Seriously?

For every sell there is a buy.  Price will kick up a touch in a minute anyway.

The more news the more dumps.. Why ?

Daytraders gonna daytrade... Come back in 5 years...never check the price...believe in the product!
5 years.. What are you smoking ? Crypto could be dead tomorrow..

How?

Unfortunately, there are a TON of possibilities to kill crypto that could happen at any time...that's why it's a high risk high reward investment...for those with long term vision.

I can't see crypto getting killed, only being pushed underground.

I hope you're right...

I hope neither happens!  I don't even look at the price any more.  It really doesn't bother me if somebody suddenly decides to dump a load of coins at a low price on a Saturday afternoon for no particular reason.  Maybe they overextended themselves and can't pay their mortgage.  Not my problem  Grin

Darkcointalkers...

If you think we should stop sending our new users to mintpal, please upvote ----> this post <----

If you think mintpal's current service is a great introduction to Darkcoin for our new users, keep scrolling.
I agree completely, get them out of Mintpal ASAP, and direct new DRK traders to Bter and Bittrex instead, in my opinion.  Bter also pays you a small interest payment for your DRK balance (usually between .3-.45% annually), so even if trading is slow, you will get some small profit in the meantime.  Bittrex has lower volume and no interest bonus, but I do think it's a solid exchange as well.
Bitfinex... we are the only alt on there besides LTC. We deserve to support them, plus they offer USD as an option. More volume and we might get margin trading...
BitFinEx is the only one that hasn't sucked hard so far... They put up DRK/USD a long time ago. If I were them I'd feel slighted that DRKers were still pointing at MintGox. Then again, I don't have feelings...

Cryptsy works well with all its idiosyncrasies (once you get used to them) although I'm definitely going to give Bitfinex more or a chance.  I've got an account with them, just never really used any of the others while Mintpal V1 was still around.

ok your in the 45DRK lotto.

Good luck  Wink

This makes 6 out of 50 lotto tickets sold for the 45DRK Lotto.

Does the fact that nobody has entered the 4500DRK lotto draw mean that if only I enter I have a 100% chance of winning?  Roll Eyes

The lotto site is new and that's why there is no bigger lotto tickets sold yet. I totally understand why too. I need to build some rep here by paying out for the 45DRK lotto a few times. I am honest and I also love DRK and our community.

I will change the bigger lotto's (when i get home..in an hour or so) so we will be able to pick the winners sooner. Please do not buy into the bigger lotto's otherwise I will not be able to change it.

The 45DRK lotto is live and will not change.  Wink

Sorry karlb187, I don't mean to piss on your chips.  The smaller prize one make much more sense I think. Its a free market and all...

I think also your wording needs to say that the winner won't be selected until all 50 (or whatever) tickets are sold.  There is a subtle difference.
2515  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Banx Shares - IPO/ICO - Bitcoin dividends paid monthly on: October 10, 2014, 04:09:42 PM
I've just spent a fair while sifting through the banx.io code on github, watching Mark's videos and reading the prospectus and I *think* he's on to a good idea if I understand things correctly.

This isn't a scam, clone coin, or coin... this is a business.  And lets be honest here, very few actual altcoins on here have a plan as clear as Mark's.  This is probably not a great forum for Mark to be pitching his business...too much FUD.

My view doesn't mean that I think it will succeed or fail but I just think that this company is on to something here.  I'm not 100% clear on what it is yet but if I'm right...cool!

I answered my own question.

"Each lotto will payout to the winners once the 50th ticket has been sold."

So I would win but then I'd have to either buy all of the other tickets to get my prize (at a loss) or persuade 49 other people to pay 100 DRK to enter a lottery that they cannot win.

The UK stance has been interesting too in its approach to BTC but in the opposite way.

The Bank of England and HMRC (our IRS) has basically said that it is an emerging technology with a tiny market cap at the moment and that rather than advise parliament to legislate now, they'd rather wait and see how the technology develops and is used to ensure that any necessary legislation is relevant and practical.

In the meantime, they have issued clear guidance on the tax status of Bitcoins and all altcoins. https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/revenue-and-customs-brief-9-2014-bitcoin-and-other-cryptocurrencies/revenue-and-customs-brief-9-2014-bitcoin-and-other-cryptocurrencies

Canada are hands on and seeking to be informed.  The UK is observing from afar and being informed by others.

Having said that, the Canadian dollar has the Queen's head on it so maybe they're just waiting to see what the Canadian Senate finds!

Just an idea, but would it not be possible to establish a peer-to-peer exchange infrastructure ?
Without some central exchange as it's now the case ?

Maybe use the MNs in the process as place to match orders for specific pairs ?

Something similar to OpenBazaar but for Crypto pairs.

Bitcoindark will do that.  The released library should be added to DRK.

Would enhance all sides.

Most blockchain based technology (not just currency) has the ability to have that functionality.  Bitcoin itself included.

I think Andreas Antonopoulos mentioned how it would work for most blockchain based coins in his presentation to a Canadian Senate Committee.

Darkcoin now Trading on Europe’s most secure Exchange !

ccedk.com, a Danish exchange renowned for its security, have announced that they are now accepting Darkcoin. Trading with Darkcoin will include, amongst others, trading pairs such as the Euro and the Russian ruble
opening up further possibilities for Darkcoin's increasing popularity.

ccedk.com is presented as the first crime-free cryptocurrency trading platform. Boasting a dual-language English/Russian interface it is aimed at a wide audience, but has often been overlooked. Notably there are plans for further interfaces in Spanish, Portuguese, German, French, Danish and Chinese suggesting expansion is on the horizon.

Their security-conscious approach is likely to be welcomed as cryptocurrency users become more cautious in the face of well-known exchange collapses such as Mt. Gox. To counter such a possibility ccedk.com keeps a reserve fund, amounting to thirty-percent of the crypto currencies revenue, to protect their customers in the case of losses. This is a major innovation akin to how major banks refund the victims of fraud that grants customers a degree of security in the event of being targeted by criminal elements. As more and more users of cryptocurrencies begin to enter the marketplace it is important that more institutions take financial security into consideration.

In terms of trading the site has promised Skrill integration in the coming months which will make depositing fiat a breeze. Also impressive is the range of fiat currencies which can be used including Danish/Norwegian kroner, British pounds, US dollars and Euros, accounts can be funded SWIFT wire transfers, SEPA, and Deposit and withdraw in RUB/UAH/EUR/USD, using more than 150 payment options in terms of funding with the Payment Service Provider Payee!
One notable feature of ccedk.com is the remarkable degree of transparency on offer. They are confident enough to post the details of their lawyer and they are clear that they will follow the Single Euro Payment Area (SEPA) regulations to help integrate cryptocurrency trading into the mainstream, including its regulations. With this layer of legal adherence a core feature of the site it is clear that ccedk.com will emerge as one of the safest exchanges and is surely a strong recommendation when tempting newcomers into the world of cryptocurrency.

It is worth noting that the security of ccedk.com can be usefully combined with the privacy offered by specific cryptocurrencies and, in particular, that of Darkcoin. This coin already has a large following in Europe and is
gaining further traction in Russia, Ukraine, Poland and many others. In this manner ccedk.com is the perfect home for Darkcoin trading given its dual-language interface. Darkcoin, which anonymizes transactions if one chooses, has slowly emerged as the major alternative to Bitcoin and with new innovations appearing daily it is grow even further. As Darkcoin enters the mainstream alongside secure and transparent exchanges such as ccedk.com we will find ourselves in the mature position of combining financial security with financial privacy opening up cryptocurrency to ever wider adoption.

My DRK has not been deposited after 28 confirmations. Something isn't right.

This might be a security feature.

Cryptsy triple the number of deposits required for new unverified customers.  I think my first BTC deposit took 18 confirmations to clear.  Maybe this exchange has a similar draconian policy for new users.  If so, I assume they lift the restriction once they have established that you're kosher.
