2541  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Middle East Richest Business Man, Won't Invest In Bitcoin on: October 23, 2017, 07:16:43 PM
Al Waleed, Saudi Prince, Announced in an interview with cnbc that bitcoin have no future arguing "It just doesn't make sense. This thing is not regulated, it's not under control, it's not under the supervision".

Also the Saudi government prohibited the use of bitcoin in the country!

Source: https://www.cnbc.com/2017/10/23/prince-alwaleed-says-bitcoin-will-implode-enron-in-the-making.html

My Comment:
Bitcoin exists 8 years ago, the price of bitcoin is not what real bitcoiners users search. Real bitcoiners joined bitcoin to enjoy privacy, transaction speed, secure ...

Regards,
Bitcoin Boy.

He is the richest man already why would he need more money in the first instance. Is it possible for someone to be richer than the richest. He has made his money  already and if he invests, its to make more money which won't make any difference to his with rather the people whom an $10000 would mean the world  for should be concerned about bitcoin.

His argument about not supporting bitcoin is more or less apolitical because a lot of rich people from that end does not have independence from government because his riches is at the mercy of government which therefore means any thing against government position from his mouth is a call for trouble. He might actually be into bitcoin but saying it in a live interview is a no go area.
2542  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Forks killing our BTC Moon Dreams? on: October 23, 2017, 05:44:34 PM
As of today, the Bitcoin Cash Market Cap is $5, 490,516,128. Soon we will see another fork, called Bitcoin Gold. These forks are channeling money that could be invested in BTC away from it, to what effectively is another Alt coin. The difference between these forks and other Alt coins are the clever marketting that these forks are a improvement on Bitcoin. {BTC}

They do not market themselves as another Alt coin, but rather a upgrade/improvement on the Legacy Coin. So with every fork, we will see a portion of investment capital moving to these coins and if these investments stay there, it would chip away at the Market Cap of Bitcoin. {BTC}

The BTC adoption has to grow much faster now, to fill the market share that these forks are eating away with every fork.

The forks are also taking hashing power and nodes and this is hurting the decentralization of the whole {BTC} network.

They not only market themselves as an improvement to the legacy but some are even claiming they are the intention of  Satoshi in the first place this will only succeed in causing confusion in the minds of new investors as a new investor can say " I want to invest in bitcoin without a further explanation of which bitcoin exactly is he/she is referring to" and if he didn't seek the right information, the money is funnelled into another coin rather than the bitcoin core.

However, I won't say its killing the dream of getting to the moon but rather, its just slowing it down in the sense that, a lot of the attention BCH is getting now will be divided as other forks come on board and while the attention mean for BTC will also be affected, the margin will have lesser impact compared to the forks.
2543  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How much closer is Bitcoin to being mainstream? on: October 23, 2017, 04:01:42 PM
How much closer is Bitcoin to being mainstream, and how do you gauge that?  I noticed more ATMs in recent years, but other that haven't seen too many other signs.

With all sincerity, bitcoin is still far from getting to the mainstream but the attention is gradually. Hopefully in the next ten years, we might get there and if things are being fast tracked with the level of work being done, we might get there faster but the challenges are equally there and one thing is see posing a threat is the several forks and that is an issue of consideration.

The confusion is not about the people already involved who knows when the fork happened but the people that will be coming in the next 5 year. A lot of this forks are claiming to be the real vision of the founder and the question is, what is that vision. This will go a long way in creating a confusion in the minds of authorities and multi nationals on which one exactly to adopt.
2544  Other / Meta / Re: IP ban on: October 23, 2017, 12:34:34 PM
Recently,  I invited a friend of mine to join this forum. After registering and confirming everything, his IP got immediately ban but he never use any VPN at all. So is there anything that he can do to get unban?  I think he doesn't deserve to pay the fee so any help will be appreciated :-)
He must be using shared IP or his ISP allocated him IP (shared one) of another user that previously used bitcointalk for abuse so your friend also got ban. There's only 2 ways to life ban.Either pay the fee or ask your isp to allocate new ip/disconnect and reconnect router and then may be he can get new IP.After that clear cookies and cache and then ask your friend to create new account Smiley

So he just have to contact his ISP to change his IP to another one and just clear everything and create a new account.

Thanks for the help  Grin

Instead of adding to the number of usernames that are only there with no one using it, just tell your friend to pay the amount its very little compared to the stress you have to go through in finding another username or even registering another mail for registration purpose. Another thing is that take it as your own contribution to the social purse of the forum then get the IP ban removed for good.
2545  Other / Meta / Re: Now I am getting pissed off!!! on: October 23, 2017, 09:18:11 AM
I think the moderators in this forum are so pathetic and incompetent... Yesterday, the last two days, I already got a 260 plus post counts, I checked in yesterday and I got 2 fewer posts. Just this morning, I again deducted 3 posts.   These moderators just don't know what topics are low-quality-topics.   They should have closed a lot from the topic itself.   They should have tried an audit on the posted topics in each forum.   What is annoying is that they allowed members of this forum to respond to such topics.  They will then reply to this topic stating the topics I replied saying I got a nonsense response when in fact the topic I responded should have closed by then.  Yet they do nothing about it.   they just letting members to continue replying when in fact they should have closed the thread already to stop people in replying... Stupid......

I understand the frustration that might come in especially when Pay Day is around the corner. However, the Mods are equally trying their best to sanitise the forum. You are not the only one involved and I think they are improving on a daily basis. For you to notice a 2 posts reduction or 3 posts reduction shows they are working rather than waiting for over six months then you see your posts drop by 15 or 20 as this was paramount in the past weeks.

However, it can only get better by ensuring that immediately those threads that would lead to being shredded eventually should immediately be taken out even before replies start compounding on it. Also, if you are observant enough on the forum, there is a feeling you just get that this thread would likely be taken out very soon because the mods are human, we then try to think alike.
2546  Economy / Economics / Re: Why economists say Bitcoin a bubble on: October 23, 2017, 07:52:12 AM
I talk to big economists they say Is only a Bubble my thought Is no bitcoin Is revolution of economy even doesnt have a background like gold the value Is power of the people what do you think?

Your economists friends are right based on the price. Anyone could see through that and you dont even need to have a special skill to identify that a commodity that is worth ridiculous amount of money in the past year this year now worth a fortune just because time has passed.

However, the decision will not only be half baked but wrong because focusing only on the price which is mostly what people are doing in making such conclusion without trying to understand the powerful technology behind the model which is the blockchain technology. ike other model that have happened in the past, the blockchain technology have proven to be proof free and as been adjudged even by those who dont believe in bitcoin.

Its high time, that the media started talking more on the blockchain technology rather than price in other to correct the misinformation.
2547  Economy / Economics / Re: CHINA ban Rise and Down on: October 22, 2017, 11:46:56 AM
Why you are like feeling weird about the price dump and pump? It is very common to see bitcoin that the price is going down because of the news that is 100% negative to bitcoin and because of that dumps, there is an event that occurs called panic selling and because of that panic selling the whales are taking advantage of that and they are buying bitcoins at the cheap rate and you can see that because of the effect of panic buying of the whales that makes the price pumps.

At foremost, China didn't ban bitcoin because banning bitcoin would mean ending everything that relates to it whether its exchange, mining, blogs, conversion sites etc but no those variants still flourish till today. What actually happen was a mere noise which was blown out of proportion despite the fact that discussion was still ongoing by the major stakeholders in that part of the world.

The increase in price therefore have to do with the gradual return of interest and confidence into the market which is a normal thing to see after a turbulent period couple with the intending fork that would increase the amount of core btc people have already.
2548  Economy / Economics / Re: Why Big Banks are so Nervous About Bitcoin ? Why ? on: October 22, 2017, 11:02:20 AM
One sure thing that will happen is that there is a future. That future is what  a lot of businesses are skeptical about and not only banks. In the future, there will hardly be need for anyone to visit the bank because virtually everything you need to do will be done via your internet enabled gadgets and in as much that will mean low costs to the banks in terms of operating costs it is also going to boost confidence for users to adopt alternative means.

If I don't have the need to go to the bank, I therefore can do things alternatively which would be solely done by the banks and that is what bitcoin is giving to users in the present which therefore means that bitcoin is already where banks wants to be and that is what they are nervous about.
2549  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Brace yourself winter is coming. on: October 22, 2017, 09:19:38 AM
First Bitcoin fork, then cash then China everytime we think Bitcoin has survived it and it shall move on, then suddenly out of the blue we get news that bitcoin is being forked again in November. There was a proposal, consensus was reached, why then do they want to do this. It will make three Bitcoins and we shall be a divided house. I don't understand this Roger guy at all, whose he to make decisions on behalf of Bitcoin community. I do hope no fork happens or what do you think will there be a fork.
https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2017-09-20/-bitcoin-jesus-ver-sees-the-digital-currency-splitting-again

Although I agree that there is need to brace up for more impact because even with the victory recorded so far by bitcoin currently and in the past, there are still more to come and only someone who is not conversant with the situation of things will think the upward trend will continue without some challenges. It will come but we have our consolation that just like the past, bitcoin will still triumph.

The part of dividing the house into 3 is what I won't go for because a lot of forks will still come and the core supporters are still very  much active which means the whole of the other forks will be treated as an alt and for that reasons the population is not divided into several groups supporting each alt. Traders are trying to make money that's why they trade in alts aside that, no other objective.
2550  Other / Meta / Re: Email security notifications on: October 21, 2017, 12:26:08 PM
This is something to be happy about as this increase the amount of security to the account. However, my question is that, if someone for example attempted to hack the account, I get a notification in my email which I took action on, how do I claim my account back? That part is not clear in any of the posts earlier. Also, is there a way for the source of the message to be made public so that I know before hand where the address I should receive a message from in case there is an attack, this is important not to fall for phishing mails and not to willingly give the access thinking one is denying such.
2551  Economy / Marketplace / Re: 1 Year in Cryptocurrency still no luck earning bitcoin. Need some real advice. on: October 21, 2017, 12:08:28 PM
Need some expert or real advice on how I can earn bitcoin. thanks

I expect to see the things you have tried that have not been successful over the years and how you have gone about it before knowing the right advise to give to you. However, there is a need to understand that aside from the outright scam or investing in HYIP, every action in the crypto industry should by default come with a premium whether you want to try gambling, trading, mining, advertising etc. but at the same time, knowledge about it matters. I for one won't engage in mining no matter how profitable it is because I cannot set up a mining rig and cloud mining as we all know might take forever to return considerable amount of returns.

There is something you are not doing right. Identify your strenght, capitalize on it, learn from other people view and I am sure your story would change.
2552  Economy / Economics / Re: Bitcoin regaining dominance. on: October 21, 2017, 10:16:32 AM
The real question of concern here is if bitcoin has ever lost the the dominance to start with. This is very obvious that even the market cap statistics is only being modest because based on my understanding of the calculation, market capitalzation= price of the coin X total coin in circulation. Which to me, is not taking consideration other factors that are specific to each coin which would include the total amount to be available in the life time of the coin, the difficulty in mining a coin, the attack they individually get and other qualitative factors.

Putting all these factors together, will show that the 37% is just an average of what the situation is really saying.
2553  Economy / Economics / Re: How do manage portfolio efficiently while having a full time job? on: October 21, 2017, 09:28:00 AM
By having a weekday 9-5 job, i must say my eyes aren't that keen anymore for trends and hardly made any good decision on buying/selling alts. Basically what i did is:

Weekdays: Coinalarm app to observe my portfolio real time but it's far less efficient and responsive to market movement, Slack and Telegram app are linked as well but still is very difficult to process insightful information while in working mood.

Weekends: More active than usual but time is limited  Undecided

Any opinions or suggestion to improve my current situation?

Thanks in advance and sorry for bad english  Sad

You are really in the right position to determine which one is best for you because we are not in the same shoes. I also full time from 8am -5pm but it might not be as tedious as yours. What I do basically is not to keep large amount of coins because there is no enough time to monitor them and at the same time, I always trade on only one or two exchange sites this enable me to have my attention streamline to a place.

I then set my order to my preferred point irrespective whether I might lose or not then check in several times in a day to know if my objective is gradually being met or not, I then reevaluate my position as to whether to cancel or renew it.
2554  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: BitcoinGold is a Scam!?! Carefull with Your Bitcoin Private Keys!!! on: October 21, 2017, 08:15:55 AM
I really don't understand what Op is trying to achieve, you want to claim a BCG that the fork is yet to make available? What you should have drawn people attention to is the scam website that claim you can claim your BCG when there is no official release to that. Even Yobit that has come to declare their interest in crediting their customers, you have to wait for nothing less than 70 hours from the time they sent the message. If you are not sure of any site, Yobit has been around for a while, although not suggested to move you coins to an exchange site but its still better than compromising you entire private key. Just send funds there and wait for when its going to be credited.
2555  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Electrum 2.9.3 importing private key on: October 21, 2017, 04:29:27 AM
this is driving me barmy, I thought I had a handle on it but apparently not!!!!!!

using Electrum 2.9.3 how do i import a btc private key? im trying to claim my bch
insturctions are send you btc to bittrex
import you private key into a bch wallet

Sweep shows "no inputs"
New Wallet shows below

Standard Wallet
Wallet with 2FA
Multi sig
Watch Bitcoin

i thought it would be so simple, aarrggghhhhh
im using debian8

any help appreciated
Its actually very simple. All you need to do is to ensure you peruse the whole option on the electrum software in other to see the private key. You can equally just scan it .  When you are on Electrum on the upper panel, just locate wallet then you see private key click on it then you see the keys attached to each wallet address where you can then copy to where you taking it too.

Another way to go is to click on addresses locate the address you have btc before the fork, then right click to choose the option of private key, this is quite simple because it will not only show the private key to that address but also the bar code which you can scan. If your are using coinomi mobile wallet, its very much easier.
2556  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: New sophisticated scam in cloud mining, be wary. on: October 20, 2017, 08:07:38 PM
The website btcheat.com gives you spins in order to win at their slot machine. They can also take mining power from your CPU through your browser offering you 1 spin for every 2500 hashes. Their min payout is extremely huge 0.03 bitcoins. They increase your free spins you can claim automatically every three hours when you invite people to play there or to use their CPU power.

To me this is quite a sophisticated scam as you may think they get real money from your CPU mining but they don't have any ads at all.

This is just like many other cloud mining scams, be wary.

The moment you have it at the back of your mind that nothing is really free as they seems, then you won't fall for such cheap scams all over the internet. What I expect is that they should have come clean to make it so obvious this is where they are generating revenue from and seek the consent of the owner of the resourses they are  using but they decide in their own level of intelligence that the best is to rip off those who are actually looking for a free then to bait them and get more from them.

They know what they doing, for setting the payout amount so high, they knew that only few people will get to their point while the others would have left out of frustration which means the amount of mining they have generated as a result of their resources, they don't partake it.
2557  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: ECB President: Bitcoin Not 'Mature' Enough to Be Regulated on: October 20, 2017, 07:00:17 PM
Mario Draghi, president of the European Central Bank (ECB), has said that cryptocurrencies are not "mature" enough to be regulated.
Speaking at a press conference last week, CNBC reports, Draghi told reporters:

Quote
"With anything that's new, people have great expectations and also great uncertainty. Right now, we think that – especially as far as bitcoins and cryptocurrencies are concerned – we don't think the technology is mature for our consideration."

Making the comments in response to a question on the potential of cryptocurrencies, Draghi further said that one of the lessons of the financial crisis is to "cherish" the benefits of fintech innovations like bitcoin, while still paying attention to their "potential risks."

I think I will have to agree with him on that in relation to the last comment made by Jamie in comparing the amount of money being moved by banks daily running to trillions of dollars compared to the total market capitalization of bitcoin which is still in the region of billion dollars and that is all time figure.

In addition to the all time figure of the billion dollars, when you break down that to country basis, it will amount to not significant enough to have the attention of the country's bank as the formost banker have  rightly said but that does not mean they won't acknowledge the existence of bitcoin just that they not not dwelling on it. I totally agree with him.
2558  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The secret Swiss mountain bunker where millionaires stash their bitcoins on: October 20, 2017, 05:49:51 PM
Bitcoin is virtual, no needs of a bunker to stock them.
Bitcoins are in the blockchain and everybody can have a copy of this blockchain.
To access of this bitcoin, only a private key is needed.

I was wondering too that I almost started doubting everything I have come to believe that bitcoin is virtual that there actually be a physical coin to it where people like who Op is portraying are hiding their stash away from the public eye.

But again I don't know how much this people who have that would made them build as large as this bunker because if they could, I wonder how large the bunker of Satoshi would be if the report on the internet is anything to go by about his purported stashing of about 1 million bitcoins. This is not only misleading but could cast doubt over the believe of newbies bitcoin without even reading the article.
2559  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Ballon d'Or discussion and odds on: October 20, 2017, 03:28:29 PM
Here is the list of 30 candidates for the Ballon d'Or:

Liga_11: Cristiano Ronaldo,Messi, Modric,Marcelo,Sergio Ramos, L.Suarez, Oblak, Griezmann, Isco,Benzema.Kroos
Premier League_7: Kantè, Coutinho,De Bruyne, De Gea,Kane, Manè, Hazard
Serie A_5: Dybala, Mertens, Dzeko,Buffon,Bonucci
Ligue 1_4: Neymar,Cavani Mbappè,Falcao
Bundesliga_3: Lewandowski, Aubameyang,Hummels

I think Cristiano Ronaldo will win 100% this year, he has won everything by scoring so many decisive goals.

There are a lot of players from these 3O candidates who should not be there, they are just to make the candidate to 3O only, which is far from getting Ballon D'or like Sadio Mane, Mertens, Marcelo, Dzeko. Their performance is good, but I do not think they should be enough to be nominated for Ballon D'or. And the results will be as usual, between Ronaldo and Messi alone.

For even being nominated to be among the final 30 out of the numerous playing all over the globe, I think its something to be grateful for not to talk of being nominated along side the two legends that hold the ballon d'or as their birth right is another achievement. Another achievement is getting to have an automatic pass to the event.

My favorite would be Rinaldo but objectively, I think it will go to Messi at this time because he has in my own opinion, using recent statistics done so much for both the club and his country side. My opinion though.
2560  Economy / Speculation / Re: What do you think ? Bitcoin is going to hit big value soon like 7000$ and more ? on: October 20, 2017, 10:46:48 AM
Its not a matter of whether we think about it or not because that is surely going to happen sooner or later but the road to get there is what might be challenging to everybody. However, whether we will win or lose on the long run will depend in our attitude to those unleashing events on the way there.

The irony of the matter is when we touch $7000, there is always additional quest on individual to push more for $10000 and it continues...
