2561  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why Bitcoin Cash will NEVER be bitcoin on: October 20, 2017, 08:57:21 AM
bitcoin = BTC
Bitcoin Cash = BCH

THAT'S THE DIFFERENCE, YA DINGUS!

Bitcoin is bitcoin while Bitcoin Cash is simply another altcoin that is trying to cash in on the good name of bitcoin.

Let's stop trying to pretend they're the same thing. Its an absolute travesty that whoever runs bitcoin.com would publish an article stupid enough trying to say they are the same thing, when they most clearly ARE NOT.

Here's a couple other reasons:

Was Bitcoin Cash founded by Satoshi Nakamoto? NO.
Do _any_ merchants that you can think of off the top of your head actually accept BCH? NO.
Will merchants be more likely to accept BCH in the future, now that they've just barely wrapped their heads around the concept of bitcoin and begun to integrate payment acceptance mechanisms for it? NO!

This is by far the biggest and most sinister pump job of an altcoin I've ever seen. If you're gonna make your own coin, at least come up with your own damn name! BCH reeks of unoriginality and is greed at its worst. This kind of behavior is what turns off the general public from wanting to get involved in crypto in the first place.

Critics what say ye? I'm all ears.

I have not seen anywhere that an offshoot of either a person, figure, thing or commodity outshine the original which is why there cannot be two bitcoin and since bitcoin is still in existence, we cannot have another one taking its place. There cannot be two ETHs and ETC cannot be outshine ETH is the same way BCH cannot replace BTC no matter the amount of forks that happened from it.

However, I see it being with us for a long term because they will continue to operate in the shadow of the original which means as the original gets more popular, they get a portion of it which keeps them within reach. Aside that, nothing else can come out of it.
2562  Economy / Currency exchange / Re: WTB: $2500 CAD to BTC on: October 20, 2017, 06:44:02 AM
Hey there, I'm looking to find the best exchange rate for $2500 CAD to BTC. I know... newbie account. I'm definitely nervous about doing this so I absolutely want 100% trusted escrow if this is something that would be feasible to do here. I'm looking to get some btc before the upcoming forks. PM with info. Please reply too if you have some friendly advice. So far in my findings it looks like localbitcoins is my best bet. Because then I can meet up with someone in person. please pm me info about signing messages too. I have an iPhone. I would like some way to verify that said person does have control of the private address and the bitcoin they claim to have. again, I'm new so I'm being very cautious.

A simple advice here because all your answers cannot be answered at once and because of the time constraint, you just have to trust someone and for the fact that you are using escrow is another plus for you. Just ensure nobody talk you out of it and at the same time be careful with the escrow you want to use because some people will want to impersonate some trusted escrow on the forum.

Another option is to locate a thread of known members of the forum who engage is exchange services maybe something can be arranged for you. Above all be very careful as even the local bitcoin that you think is the best option might turn out to be your worst nightmare. Visit https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1092531.0 to have a feel.
2563  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Are You in Favor to Register Your BTC Address to Trace Transaction and Tax??? on: October 20, 2017, 05:29:19 AM
Are you in favor to register your BTC Wallet address to trace transactions and impose taxed it?  It is a big subject now amongst lawmakers to trace down income and transaction about bitcoins.   This has become the talk of the people involved in digital currency lately.  So, What do you think?Huh

This idea I feel will not work because if this is the way they want to ensure that taxes are levied, then they are bunch of jokers because I can then register just one wallet provider then use other wallets provider and aside that, the singular action of registering your btc wallet address to identify you, has taken everything bitcoin stands for that that relates to anonymity.

A way out is to go through the middle men and device a way out of the conventional levying of tax since that is their end game. For example using Coinbase for mostly US citizens, what is needed is to ensure that when you sell on that platform Coinbase deducts their fees and the tax element before paying you the balance thereafter remit it government.
2564  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Trying to find out about these exchanges? on: October 19, 2017, 06:26:19 PM
Trying to find out what the the mid level exchanges for coins to get on and what are the conditions needed to get on them and how hard and competitive it is?

Ideas so far have included.

Hitbtc

Gdax

Kraken

Liqui

Any experience and knowledge first hand would be great appreciated.

For others, I agree that they are mid-level but not Kraken because that's one exchange that I see above others you have there. I have used HiBtc and they are quite cool. A lot of them use the voting system while they also make provision if you want to by-pass the voting system which is by paying certain amount of fees. This varies across the exchange sites you  listed here.

The best source of information is to visit their sites and see the FAQ section where they would put details on how to add a coin and if you are not clear, there is sure a way to contact support in other to know much more information about how to go about listing in their platform.
2565  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: how can we make gambling as an accepted recreational activity like sports game? on: October 19, 2017, 03:42:08 PM
In my country, I don't think there is nothing to be done about that because its already accepted as a part of the society all you need to do is to meet the conditions attached among which are you must be above 18 years to engage in it. We already have a gambling commission that issue licences to operators of gambling sites to ensure they play by the rules.

The places where you need convincing are only countries that are predominantly Islamic States because they are bent on against gambling while the predominantly Christian nations are already secular states which makes gambling accepted in their country. I guess we still have to enjoy the freedom to gamble our funds while it last.
2566  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: return as soon as possible and win back your losses . on: October 19, 2017, 03:00:48 PM
We all can lose in gambling  and lose our money but shall we stop or try to win back what we lost ?

People slide into additive gambling for two reasons

1. When they win, they believe its going to continue that way so they continue playing and

2. When they lose, they then believe they can win back their losses so they keep on playing. But the gambling sites administrators knows this so they ensure that all these two options are intertwined which sometimes you enter into fully into gambling and to get out becomes too difficult. In determining whether to stop or continue chasing after lost money will involved sitting down and doing an average overview of the net position of where you were before and after the time of the analysis.
2567  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: BTC profits on: October 19, 2017, 02:05:35 PM
Hi,

If i have 100USd now what should I invest it in to make about 5% everyday?

I am sorry I have to be harsh because people like you are the ones who continue to feed the scammers in the HYIP industry the push that someone somewhere will patronize their services and would't have lost their money before they realize that nothing like that exist in the world and also gave the media the name that everything that surrounds crypto currency even the bitcoin itself is a Ponzi Scheme or Bubble that might burst soon because how do you explain how someone is putting 100$ in an investment to expect 5% every day.

Banks will give you maximum of 10% on your savings account on an annual basis, on your fixed deposit the differs based on the amount you want to bring in and your negotiation skills but I don't know where it exceeds 12%. If you now invest in money market funds who are much more interested in the real sector, they then give you maximum of say 19% on per annum basis. I now begin to wonder how Op wants to make that happen if his sole purpose is to put the funds in an investment scheme.
2568  Economy / Economics / Re: Bitcoin Users Double Every 12 Months on: October 19, 2017, 11:09:49 AM
Its good to know that someone somewhere is actually keeping records of this and showing us how things are going. However, based on the current report and future projections, I don't see the trend kept up to date because as we move on with the popularity of bitcoin, I see us getting stuck at some point and this will mean that the population of the world that falls in the category of the older citizens, uneducated citizens and even those who will be shut out as a result of issues not their own fault such as war, unable to access the internet or the banning of bitcoin by respective countries etc. With all this put together we might not get to the point where almost all people in the world will use bitcoin.
2569  Economy / Economics / Re: transition FIAT to DIGITAL? on: October 19, 2017, 09:57:18 AM
how will people adapt change from FIAT CURRENCY to DIGITAL CURRENCY like BITCOIN? Huh

The transition will happen so far the blockchain is not destroyed and government authorities are being liberal to new technologies such as this then we get to see a smooth but gradual transition.

However, while in some countries because of the advancement of technologies over there or the level of exposure of their citizens to either education or basic technological use, it becomes expedient while to those developing countries, they might not get there anytime soon but the sure thing is that they will get there.

My concern however, is that the transition might not necessarily be for bitcoin because a lot of countries sees their currency as their identity and if they want to adapt to a new technology such as this, they would want to still keep that their identity which is the reason why we might see a lot of state backed digital currencies in the near future.
2570  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Top 5 leading African countries already showing interest in cryptocurrencies? on: October 19, 2017, 05:45:06 AM
Your top 5 African countries already showing interest in cryptocurrencies?

The number one without doubt should be the country of the scammers, I know you should already have an idea of what country I'm talking about, oh and if you do not any idea what country I'm talking about then you never surf the internet, the country is called Nigeria.

South Africa

Kenya

zimbabwe

Ghana
Lols, believe me Nigerians are more victims of scam. And again I don't blame them much, I blame their government. They are the giant of Africa but 70 percent jobless, no reasonable empowerment.

I am African and in my country there are many Nigerians and from what I have seen for many years, Nigerians are responsible for many crimes in my country, from murder crimes, murder to albinos because of witchcraft, stealing bones from the dead in cemeteries , steal our gold, deceive the citizens of my country with their practices of witchcraft

nigeria is one of the best couintry in african it can using crypto currency. south africa is also using crypto.ghana, kenya zimbabwe those all are using crypto currency. in the south africa black money is more high for that purpose that country people use mostly crypto currency.for using crypto currency we need security for that reason they choose bit coin it is one of the good site for using crypto currency.

Do not praise many of these countries because they are very dangerous, especially if you are a poor person

You mush have had quite an amount of experiences to be able to conclude that Nigerians are the only ones responsible for the social, physical and economic woes that have happened in your country but its important to know that all over the world are people who are deficient in morality are present.

The subject matter is about cryptocurrency, for me I would take South Africa at the top and not be blinded by population or being giant of a thing to decide. I have seen fintech companies starting out from South Africa and projects coming from there compared to other Africa countries then after that the rest of the countries can take the remaining slots.
2571  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Medicine and cryptocurrency on: October 18, 2017, 11:35:12 PM
Give me your opinion about… Can the blockchain be applicable for the medical sector? Explain your pros and cons please. Thank you.

In my own opinion, the blockchain is a public legerr that ensures nothing is hidden in other to aid transparency. However, there are some things that are better kept private and one of them is medical records in other keep human decency and sanity if the medical records of an individual becomes if public knowledge, then we might have a case of mass suicide on our hands.

Area I see the blockchain working in the medical sector is on drugs produced where each and everyone of those drugs have been given a serial number and the moment I buy one or before I purchase it, I can go to the blockchain to check if its an original or a counterfeit product that will go along way in reducing the amount of counterfeits drugs in the market.
2572  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: **WATCH OUT FOR NEW SCAMS FROM SHIPPING FEES** on: October 18, 2017, 06:25:06 PM
Be wary of bitcointalk user Min3rking.  He PM'd me asking if I was still in the market to purchase some antminers.  Talked with him on Skype and he wouldn't do escrow with a bitcointalk member at first, then he said he would if I paid shipping first.

If you have evidence of this, then you should probably open a scam accusation website because of this as its then everybody can see him or probably get tagged so that others who probably might not see this thread will know and reference will be made to it as well.

I am happy that this thread has actually helped someone from losing money that the only saving grace would have been lost by virtue of posts. One thing at the back of any trader, ANY CONDITIONAL ESCROW IS A SCAM BE WARNED
2573  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: **WATCH OUT FOR NEW SCAMS FROM SHIPPING FEES** on: October 18, 2017, 04:41:14 PM
I've had more than a few 'Newbie' sellers off the Marketplace that claim to do Escrow , but want payment of shipping fees upfront.

They are scams, as these dbags don't mind making up new accounts and scamming a few people out of small BTC with no recourse, thinking they are getting a deal.

BEWARE people.

Rules for picking out scams :
No Escrow = SCAM
Escrow, but pay for shipping upfront = SCAM

Also, the old Bait and Switch.
They claim to have on hand item for shipment, yet after dealing, turns out they are for 'pre-order' or future delivery date.
Only a moron would buy something with a future delivery date knowing the difficulty increases and possibility of a total SCAM.

I think this posts should be sticky on the page so everyone can see the latest trend that unscrupulous individual are bent on exploiting just to rip someone off his hard earned resources without any recourse to conscience, morality or even karma.

But unfortunately some people will still fall for it despite the several warnings on the forum and even something like this. I have come to realise that majority of the people selling around here are just newbies account, that alone is enough as a flag for anybody to not only be careful when dealing but be extra careful as new skills are being churned out every time to scam.
2574  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin is falling, But don't worry! on: October 18, 2017, 03:20:21 PM
Bitcoin started falling and might fall upto $4800. The main support is at $4800, bitcoin markets supports doesn't works like other currencies as rumors and fake peoples makes panic between peoples to make the market fall and buy coins in cheaper price. Now its time!!  Grin Buy more BTC's because BTC is going to $10K soon!!

Yes!! Last month this same f**k happened with us with JP Morgans speech and panic between peoples. Let bitcoin fall as much as possible and buy more coins that you can make more money. Bitcoin is the #1 Number One Online Currency now and popular in all over world.  Wink

Now it starts falling and you will find rumors in google about fakes news to make panic between peoples. Bitcoin will be higher in $6000+

#ITS_TIME_TO_BUY

This should no longer be news to people who have stayed long enough to know how the skeptics work that whatever is happening to bitcoin whether increase in price or fall in price is ephemeral. Its now left for you to decide which one you want to go with. Its either you panic, sell and come later to complain about how some people are manipulating the price in other to sell low.

I have expected this with reference to the last fork where we get to see some crash but later price picked u. Anyone who act on impulse in this crypto world will have himself to blame, when the coast clears, people reap benefit of waiting.
2575  Other / Meta / Re: I can't stand the capcha for this site on: October 18, 2017, 02:36:14 PM
Especially the "cars" one.  Seriously... has anyone EVER succeeded in getting that one right?  I swear that no matter what it says I got it wrong, even when I'm 100% certain that I've eliminated every picture with a car in it.  That's the one that really gets me.  The "signs" one also does it, but not always.

What ever happened to simply entering a series of numbers/letters to prove that you're not a bot?  Isn't that sufficient enough?  This method is a real PITA.  And more & more sites are using it these days I'm noticing.  I cringe every time I see it.

Glad I got that off my chest.  I've been wanting to say it now for a long time.

I feel this belong to the Meta section of the forum since its about the forum activities and log-in issues.

I dont know how you face issues with that particular one but since the beginning of the era of captcha, I have not had any issue with it and to there is always an option to skip anyone you feel you are not comfortable with with but at the same time you must fill it.

The captcha is really something that the forum administrator feels its neccessary at the point in time which is solely for the purpose of making the forum better at the time and if there is need to install additional security measures to make the forum safer, then its a welcome development. All we need to do is learn to adopt. Thats all.
2576  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Convert Bitcoins for Ppal on: October 18, 2017, 09:22:54 AM
Answer please, ever you guys had experience with www.x-crypto.com giving BTC and obtain money via Paypal bill? This site offers perfect rate: $7427 for 1 bitcoin What if community trust this exchange job?

A simple Google search for review would have saved all the troubles you to go through to make the thread but since its here already, I found this https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1344966.0 No enough information on the internet concerning it but one principle suffice on this which is 'if its too good to be true then its likely scam'. You are now the one to decide whether you can trust such service or try searching out for alternatives.
2577  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Bittrex banned .10% of accounts. Are you sticking with them? on: October 18, 2017, 08:46:59 AM
I just read the article below.  I'm wondering how many people are going to stick with Bittrex, and how many are going to start moving their coins to different exchanges?

https://cointelegraph.com/news/bittrex-exchange-breaks-silence-on-banned-accounts-questions-remain

Its not about sticking with them or not, its about whether they want you or not and their body language means they dont want you because I dont see reason why someone will just come with a policy that affects everything like that, without giving users the opportunity to decide whether they want to continue with them or not.

Firstly you don't get to withdraw your balances without verification but with the paltry 0.025btc per day, you have about 100 days to withdraw 2btc. Another is even the basic verification that allows you withdraw up to 3btc only if your data can be cross checked with public records aside that, you just have to go with the enhanced version.

All these are testimonies not to leave large portion of your fund on an exchange site because tomorrow morning they wake with a policy where you are either going to comply with or abandon your funds. For me, I am done with Bittrex.
2578  Economy / Economics / Re: BITCOIN misconceptions on: October 18, 2017, 06:26:02 AM
I came across several threads on the forums about bitcoin as their source of income, people leaving their day jobs just to focus on campaigns here in the forum.

Why most of the people in the forum sees bitcoin as currency that you need to spend everyday? On my opinion at this point of time for bitcoin it is better to consider it as an asset, an investment that if you keep it there is a big chance that your investment will grow. Think of its future potential, at this time each coin cost $5600+ when maybe about 100 million people who is using it. imagine what will the price be if 1 billion people uses it in the future how much will the price be? And this also applies to alt coins. As much as possible keep you coins and wait for the price to boom.

I won't say its misconceptions rather would say understanding. The cryto industry which bitcoin hold significant fort, is free to be understood by different groups of people achieving the same objective which is ensuring the continued popularity of bitcoin.

While the group who believes holding bitcoin as a store of value, are contributing to ensure that there is no flood of bitcoin in the market that would then drive the price downwards.

For those who are buying and selling, they are also contributing by ensuring that bitcoin is available in the market for both new entrants and those in the earlier group to have something to keep in other to meet their own objective.
2579  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Being Manipulated on: October 17, 2017, 09:02:07 PM
Hello y'all, I recently noticed something about Bitcoin, it seems that the countries that have more users of the crypto are manipulating the currency behind the scene. Forget the issue of it being demand and supply. Take a look at when China brought up a regulation on bitcoin in the country, the price of bitcoin dropped rapidly, so that the rich elites can buy much of the currency during that period since the price is now lower.

This is what am guessing though and I shouldn't be criticised since we're in a free world in which nothing is free. Grin Grin Grin

Everyone is right to express an opinion on whatever is happening in the crypto world based on the understanding that we have about series of events. The last crash in which you are quick to ascribe to manipulation create an avenue for people to put in funds while a lot of them are reaping the benefit of such decision. Times without number price have crashed and recover, while some are taking advantage and they are normal human beings even forum members who have made it obvious in their posts what they will do, others are looking at the conspiracies behind such as Op. I am sure if another crash should happen, he will still wyne about it.
2580  Economy / Economics / Re: Is Bitcoin a Bubble? on: October 17, 2017, 07:02:37 PM
The day bitcoin stops being a bubble, will be the day they the entire blockchain will stop working or would have been destroyed and since that day is not anywhere near yet, we just have to get to this kind of news because it will continue to come any time a landmark achievement is done when it comes to price. Why bitcoin is a bubble, is what I am yet to understand, because comparing it with fiat with relative stability is just not right.

I believe that fiat would have bursted if not for the support its getting from government agencies in other to keep it relevant but the moment they lost it, it goes into flame. 2008 comes to mind and Zimbabwe issue is still fresh in our memory.
