You've got a strange way of looking at business. Being overloaded with work is a good thing. The opposite is what would be rough.

Rough is overloaded with work to the point you start pissing off your customers with excessive delays - and start losing customers over that.

Contrary to the opinion of some, BitMain DOES still have competition, they're just enjoying a short gap where they have new product and the competiton doesn't yet.

It was a calculated risk, I suspect they took advantage of this gap to pull in as much as they could with the additional margin they can.. At the end of the day people have short memories... I used to wonder how business savvy they were but have been things take a turn toward focusing more on maximizing profit...
262  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANTMINER S7 is available at bitmaintech.com with 4.86TH/s, 0.25J/GH on: October 14, 2015, 01:24:29 PM
Conclusion: not an easy machine for hosting-you would have to nag hosting people to soft boot it periodically if you don't have direct access to a machine, otherwise you are bound to periodically lose 5-7% of the hashing speed.

One of the best bumps I ever made for hosting was remotely managed PDUs.. You are right that it is a drain on hosting, and depending on the company they will start charging for it..

Did you crack the nut on the PSU connector shortage J4bber has keeping him making more boards for the next couple of months?
264  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANTMINER S7 is available at bitmaintech.com with 4.86TH/s, 0.25J/GH on: October 13, 2015, 10:23:16 AM
Dear customer,

We are fixing the issue now, your order havent been shipped out but it is in process. Please wait for the tracking number of your order.

Best Regards

BITMAIN

Damn ! it was too good to be true !

Based on what I have seen I am thinking there was an error and nearly every order in the system got marked as shipped, from talking to a couple of folks even batch 3s paid for hours ago marked as shipped...
265  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: [WTS] 5 KNC November Jupiter Boards - For Parts on: October 12, 2015, 11:57:23 AM
Any Chance you have the controller, too?

I have been waiting on one to come back from someone I lent one too but apparently it got lost in the mail and they are trying to track it down.. Given that I am not counting on seeing it now, so I decided to just dump the boards in case anyone had a use for them...
266  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: found possible power supplies with on: October 10, 2015, 06:49:02 PM
There are a number of offerings on the forums here, I have some 750W, 1600W, and 208V+ 2880W PSUS.. You'll see some from me and others on the marketplace..
267  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [ANN] Spondoolies-Tech - carrier grade, data center ready mining rigs on: October 09, 2015, 06:19:11 PM
that said, having a UPS (or even a capacitor-based backup) would be useful in areas where theres a risk of power fluctuations or 'blips' that could otherwise disrupt operations or cause reboots in the miners. The number of times ive corrupted SD cards in an RPi due to a 'flicker' (even in an office building) is insane, and some devices cant handle fluctuations very well
This is just a symptom of pathetic system administrator ineptness to allow the file system corruption upon a power fluctuation.

Any "farm" scale computer operation has to be run with read-only file systems, configurations fetched via bootp (67&68/udp), error logging via syslog (512/udp) and monitoring via SNMP (161&162/udp).

I presume that Spondoolies initially hoped to be able to still make profit while pandering to the individual miners that are mostly ignorant of the proper network and system administration practices. And their move away from serving that market is to realize the savings from serving the markets where one can demand certain standard of computer literacy.

Even if by strange happenstance one was forced to use mining controller with a hardware fault that causes SD card corruption the sensible managerial solution is to keep only the controller on the centralized low-power UPS not all the power-hungry mining chips.

This is why all the companies serving the "retail" markets have those calling centers in India with personnel trained and prepared to deal with the complete ignorant.

Typical ego driven puffering... This entire conversation started because of a misidentified piece of hardware (no it wasn't a UPS) and the point was there are some circumstances, albeit limited where it may make sense.. I am not going to presume I know all of the details of the environments you've deployed hardware in, big or small, and you don't know the specifics of every miner who has ever deployed hardware..

Don't be so presumptuous..

I need one EVGA 1300W, possible to ship in Canada ?
I would like all the cables and original box.
I pay shipping fee of course.

Exact same thing here. I pm'ed OP about this offer previously, i told him i'd be interested to pick up one or two if he end up breaking them down.
I guess its not a bad idea to leave the offer here, as this offer of mine will be valid ongoingly until i get 2 of them one way or another.

I have some server supplies if you're interested, check sig.

Sad how poor you behave, no decency to just PM, instead you'll hijack someone else's thread..
269  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: IBM 2880W PSU & Breakout Boards - 80+ Platinum power - *NEW* Package deals on: October 09, 2015, 01:37:55 AM
OK Finsky.

BTW thanks for the PSU Works great now.

i got a question you or someone else might be able to answer, i got this nice IP Power Stitch with scripting and auto ping etc that i want to use to rereboot my miners when they become offline. of course i can't plug the IBMs PSU in them cause 1. the power is 240V and the switch is 110. and 2. even if could it`s only 15amp. BUT what if i plugged a small 12v Power adapter to power a relay switch that will be triggered to on when power applied to it, and connect that instead of the on off switch on the breaker board of the IBM PSU.

this way i could reboot all my miners remotely or un attented. but i got no idead of the parts i would need for the "relay" or if that even is the proper word for it. let me know what you think. or any one else.
time is a factor cause i`m going on vacation next week for 2 weeks.

heck this could be even applied to regular PSU bridging the green and black wire to power them on.

Kaltar

Fair approach given what you have, it should work.. In the case of the breakout boards, to the left of the switch they have two contacts, you can use those also to power on and off the board.. That should give you an easier option than playing with the switch itself..
270  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [ANN] Spondoolies-Tech - carrier grade, data center ready mining rigs on: October 08, 2015, 01:12:05 PM
It simply does not make sense from a business point of view. Batteries are expensive and I want to see those people replacing them every 3 years.
Most people with UPS on mining gear have simply too much money to spend (gray funds), they build their "data centers" no future for BTC .. being ready to attract clients in the regulars server collocation/hosting business, and simply buy UPS-es to invest the money in something and maybe sell the business soon.

Everyone can buy tools, only few use them properly.

My only point is that you cannot make the statement it never makes sense, there are some threads on this very forum where it did for one reason or another... You are right that generally it does not, my point was that it's not always "crazy"...
271  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [ANN] Spondoolies-Tech - carrier grade, data center ready mining rigs on: October 08, 2015, 12:30:09 PM
One would be crazy to put mining gear on UPS.

Must be all of the threads with people that have done it that tells you it's crazy? Depending on the deployment scenario and power source (e.g., elec rate management, solar) it can make sense, limited but there are deployment scenarios in which it can...
272  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [ANN] Spondoolies-Tech - carrier grade, data center ready mining rigs on: October 07, 2015, 12:43:37 PM
NDA are used so the people who "work" for BTCS keep quite.
Because they are a public company stock ticker " BTCS "
I am sure all the people who work at BTCS " transaction verification services" had to sign in blood.

But hell what do I know. Right padrino  Wink

Just caught this post, maybe not blood but something real close Smiley

I have a whole stack of NDAs, each and every one on the front page of hardware now that I think about it...  When negotiating prices, lead-time (which feeds speculation on supply chain, yield challenges, etc.), for larger customers no company is interested in having those details spread around given it's competition sensitive...
273  Economy / Computer hardware / [WTS] 5 KNC November Jupiter Boards - For Parts on: October 04, 2015, 11:20:55 PM
I have 5 boards left over from my days of running Jupiters and producing the padrino firmware for them (100+ boards in total)..

I do not know if they are working or not, they were tucked away in a parts box and I do not have a controller to test them with.. I know at least one needs work, as you can see in the picture with the connector..

In any case I'm thinking $20 + shipping for all of them...

I snapped pictures of each board..

274  Economy / Goods / Re: I will order your Amazon items with my prime account for your BTC--20% off ! on: October 02, 2015, 09:48:14 PM
So you do not allow buyers wait for delivery of the actual items (or box of rocks for that matter).. Is that really how you have conducted all business to date?
275  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Swedish ASIC miner company kncminer.com on: October 02, 2015, 02:53:52 PM
Im going to guess that most everyone uses very high quality/high efficiency PSU's. All mine are EVGA golds. Best config that is problem free is 3x 850w evga on batch 2s

Vegas

It's all relative, of course.. When running EVGA's toward the maximum output they fade fast.. For example the EVGA 1300 G2 (Gold rated) are measured about 75% efficient at full load..

I use 220V PSUs (IBM 2880W units I sell in the marketplace) and measure about 94% even at near full load..

have orders starting Sept 3 and then sprinkled through Sept
No miners yet
Guy on nicehash westhash running nine s7's, look smooth. He is at 120Ths now. Good job.

That 120Th must be augmented with other hardware?

Hello everyone, GenTarkin and I thank you for your support. We wanted to update you on major changes that only affect the free users. Nothing will change for premium paid users.  We have been looking over the free downloads VS. premium sales, and it is very unbalanced in favor of the free version. It appears that a high percent of people are using the free version, and we have only received a few donations, in short its being abused. Our intention with the free version, is to help those that could not afford the premium, and maybe they could donate a little over time. We want to further accelerate this project and fund it further and bring you even more exciting features. In order to do this , we are forced to close access to the free version indefinitely. We apologize and we hope you understand. If you see the value in the work we do, then please show us your support by purchasing premium on Ebay or my site (in our signatures).

How this will be rolled out: The github project is now private, the README on the github repo will still have all changes & features , it will be updated as GenTarkin continues to develop. This does not mean the project is closed source however. If anyone requires it, the source can be made available. Per release info will eventually be migrated to the public placeolder as well (old Titan public repo of mine).
Also, for ALL current users(paid & free) ... the UPGRADE button on status page will no longer function. It will be removed from future releases. Releases will continue to be distributed as .bin upgrade files.

Gentarkin and Vegas.

Welcome to my world with the Jupiter firmware, although you already went more "commercial" than I did and even a few paid users would beat what I brought in.. The most frustrating thing for me was not the passive commitment (e.g., using the free vs. paid) but the explicit promises made to donate by dozens of people I helped (remote logins, etc.) and never did.. I could have called them out of the forums but I didn't thinking they would correct things, sadly over 95% never did...
278  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [ANN] Spondoolies-Tech - carrier grade, data center ready mining rigs on: October 01, 2015, 01:14:14 AM
Recoup is necessary with this gear; the case / psu's alone cost ~10k.

You will NOT see a 25k SP50 anytime soon.

Why do you think an NDA is required? If the pricing was competitive it would be public.

50k with 5 MOQ; 40k with 20 MOQ is an "estimate" for SP50 costs and MOQ.

SP40 ~11 TH in a 3U case only if USD/BTC exchange rate exceeds $300 and remains so for 1 week.

I tend to agree with much of what you posted. I am however perplexed by the "NDA for Price/Date" information. Assuming you are correct, what's the motivation? How does that help Spondoolies, or the signer of the NDA? Is this not really intended for potential customers, but perhaps investors?

This feels a bit like the SFARDS "announcement", but never answered any of relevant questions for price or date included.

My point is that if the SP50 pricing was competitive it would have been included in the announcement.

This is like bluffing in poker.  If I am about to buy 22x or more S7 and then SPT says they have a superior product I will be significantly less likely to buy the S7's.  Even if I bother to contact SPT, wait for them to respond, and sign an NDA; only to finally laugh at the SP50 price: SPT has still delayed my purchase from their competitor.

My guess is that the SP50 is only really intended for internal mining, and announcing it like they did was to stall for time while they get the SP40 ready / deploy their own SP50's with less S7 hashrate resistance.

I would be willing to pay 4k for an 11 TH SP40 if it is released soon; but my guess is it would cost ~5k so let's hope for a USD / BTC pump and maybe we will see an SP40.

Are you serious, do you work or have any experience in vertical industries, it's very common and not a read on weather it's competitive or not..
279  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [ANN] Spondoolies-Tech - carrier grade, data center ready mining rigs on: September 30, 2015, 04:15:10 PM
still no word on the prices?

nope not yet. All silent on the front

Looks to me like Bitmain reduced to some extent the top possible price, since they lowered the price of Batch 2 & 3 of the S7. Spondoolies would seem to have less room to maneuver now in terms of price (IMHO).

this. The SP50 would need to price in the range of 120-150BTC to compete

30K max realistically, but 25K is optimal.

If you haven't noticed, BITMAIN adjusted its pricing for batch 3 S7's in relation to the time before block halving more than the difficulty.  Batch 3 S7's are at $1,658 instead of $1,823.  Each month that passes by before the block halving apparently is affecting the price of their rigs with the price of bitcoin virtually unchanged.

So, if Spondooliestech does not want to miss the boat for selling the SP50 with optimal returns, they might want to have them up for sell relatively soon.

It will be interesting to see how the block halving affects the pricing of rigs [If at all] as it approaches.

Read btcs news from sept 28. They had to lease their own (SPT) equipment. I am not sure about the rationale for it.
eventually, they will probably have to either borrow money or do a preorder to start producing these units in bulk.

All money has a cost, I suspect they have favorable terms so it provided a good opportunity for funding, no more and no less confusing than other funding options, if the terms are good it's a good move..
280  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANTMINER S7 is available at bitmaintech.com with 4.86TH/s, 0.25J/GH on: September 30, 2015, 04:11:27 PM
I wonder what they will provide for the delay since they go back to work on the 9th and this was the batch one statement...

Batch one scheduled shipping date is in late September of 21~30. If shipping out 10 days later than the scheduled one, it won't be considered as delay.

Ufo

Based on how I read the above there is no delay until October 10th, 10 days after the estimated shipping window.
