Thanks guys!

OOM, I thought about this too. Symptoms came very quickly, and soon after a couple of dinners with friends, so I also think it probably isn't COVID. I had an old COVID test kit at home, which had already expired (about 1 year past expiration). I did it nonetheless, and it came out negative.

Quite harsh indeed, high fever, shivers, cycling on/off between painkillers. Came in the most unfortunate of times...  Sad

Sounds like classic flu, yep. Shit can be tedious, but you can speed recovery up with NAC (2x500mg/d) and Ascorbic Acid (Vitamin C, works as NAC metabolism catalyzer).
I gave my last capsules of NAC to a friend of my father in law (60+ yo) after a two week flu episode, which had a holiday booked nine days later. He fully recovered before packing his suitcase. I only had NAC/AA once, after Covid (Omicron B1) and it helped much with shortbreathedness. Athletes are using it to increase O2 absorption of the lungs before training for events. One can take it for a month safely, but i never read of problems from those who took it longer.

EDIT: Sorry, forgot why i came online today  Roll Eyes Roll Eyes Roll Eyes

Merry Christmas!
(delayed, because of christmas eve offline challenge in my family)

Aldo Nova-Fantasy 2021 Smokin" Hot Version
I'm no producer but it feels like he added distortion to everything - including the title! (Smokin" rather than Smokin')  Still a good tune after all these years.

I like it too, and I am pretty sure that I had that on cassette around the time that it came out... and surely the opening bit of the original recording.. was meant to be a kind of teaser.. which was done well.

Aldo Nova has aged pretty well (especially if that is his real mop of hair at 62 years old in the video that you linked - a lot of guys "grow" a kind of hair envy, including but not limited to yours truly), yet there is something about the energy and voice of his youth (even though surely it was dubbed over and even the studio version likely sounds better with that kind of a song)... .. but it is a nice (or might we suggest "fun") song.

Here's the earlier version with the suspenseful opening.

Came down with the flu.
Is it COVID? I wonder...
Got to check it out.

If symptoms were setting on rather fast, it's likely something different than Covid.
However, being sick isn't making anyone feeling comfortable, a real flu can be quite harsh, too.

Get better soon!

Yeah. Sounds like playback through a broken speaker. Great, powerful voice, though. Never heard this song before.

This "in cash" thing about the ETF is ticking me off. They're just looking for a way into paper btc, which as of now isn't a (real) thing. They will have their way, I'm sure.

I hope they get burned by the mightiest short squeeze on the "underlying" the Earth has ever seen. That will teach them and enrich others (notably, some of the people reading these words).

I suppose they had to give in to the pressure of the SEC, which preferred the in-cash method, while ETF applicants were in favor of the in-BTC method of doing business.
This isn't written in stone, however, and therefore subject to change at some future point in time. The expectations of paper-investors seem to be high, so why would ETF applicants risk another "no-no" by the SEC? I think they want to get things started, and take the compromise. Once BTC is established and trusted enough in these realms (it's still considered to be an alternative asset, imo), things may change fast again, as it currently does with the ETFs.
No?

(EDIT: Or just my wishful thinking?)

If short squeezed to death, the investing world will likely fall back to push the good old "it's a risky scam" narrative.

Isn't that the scene of Xandir's anal defloration ("Drawn Together")?

Speaking of...

As imgur disallowed bitcointalk, i decided to upload a fresh pic of one of my favorite deep space targets to talkimg.
NGC 2244 aka. Rosette Nebula (More, but maybe boring details below)

This time i used the new Autofocus, resulting in some more details and less blur in the original data. I also followed a EAA (Electronically Assisted Astronomy) approach of cranking up the camera's gain, which allows the total imaging time to stay low while collecting the same amount of light as in regular astrophotography. This results in more noise and shorter single frame exposure times. The two major caveats are reduction of dynamic, so stars are saturated earlier, as well as the very faint sky background structures (radiations) don't get through, because they drown in the increased noise levels. SNR and dynamics vs. convenience. This works well with bright targets and star structures, without much nebulosity in the background. I had to stay down to 30 seconds of single frame exposure time, while 20 would have produced nicer stars, also the power plug of the telescope mount fell out, because the cable got caught by an adjustment screw mid session, i recognized it 35 minutes later, stopped the session and threw away 71 of 236 frames. Total image count should have been 240, i decided to increase the amount of images because the night was so clear, when i discovered the accident. Still, the level of (foreground) detail in the processed result is about the same as in a high-definition astrophotography session of about 4-5 hours in duration. The target is of medium brightness, at the edge of being suitable for the high-gain/short exposure EAA approach. A major difference is the relatively higher amount of shorter wavelengths (non red-ish) compared to imaging at unity-gain, which is most likely a result of the shorter exposures, too.

Enuff of the blah, have a nice day  Grin

EDIT: So why did i go the EAA route? Because my current astro camera is a bit of a unicorn when it comes to calibrate out nasty artifacts, but only when using it the standard (high-dynamic) way. It originally was designed as an EAA camera, and has many fans in the EAA community. So it seemed logical that processing data in an EAA-kind-of-way might deliver better results in terms of less artifacts, which turned out to be the case here. However, i will buy a good camera for classic astrophotography, but i'll need a better PC to process the data (already ordered), since the images are 4 times the size in bytes, from the IMX 571 sensors, which are currently "good standard". Also the Xeon E5 CPU i'm using for number-crunching is no more supported by a growing number of data processing software vendors. Staying on the EAA side of things will also result in having to process about 4 times more image files, which takes a heck of times longer, too. New system performance should be 3x CPU, 10x I/O compared to the old PC.

And i can't wait to process galaxy pics using EAA, with 5 second exposures for crisp results by combining more than 1000 images.  Cool

We’ll hold your horses buddy. Bitcoin is rallying hard. Back to $44K and seemingly once again headed higher… A lot of people saying we’re 2-3 weeks away from seeing a spot ETF approval. I wouldn’t be surprised if the rally continued until then as the market buys the rumor in preparation to sell the news.

Hmm, maybe we will witness a rare case of "buying the rumor, buying more on the news"?

I have yet to meet an 80 year old who wants to live another 24 years in pain and demented misery. Life extension < Life quality

I have. One of my neighbors is 84 and he told me he plans to live to 100-110. He lived an active life, does yoga every day, reads books about life extension, keeps his mind active. But then again some people are just luckier than others, and I don't even believe in free will.

Damn right, there is no free will. Will is always biased. One of the most important topics in psycho-philosophy (is that correct as a translation?).
Aging... Something called life, god, destiny (...) gave you a racecar for your being on this planet. You have to learn how to drive, fuel and service it, maneuver besides all the other lifecars around you. There will be accidents, wear, corrosion of varying degrees. depending on environment and how it's taken care of generally, but some day it may will break beyond repair, even if it's not the drivers fault, before it's going to the great junkyard of all beings. Luck plays a role for sure, too. Destiny seems to throw dices, endlessly.
When you look at it from one side, a human life is almost wortless among the billions of others (scarcity, anyone?), when looked at from the other side (ambiguosly), every life is indefinitely precious. It more or less all revolves around balancing between these two views.
I could go on about religion and praying vs. consciousness and introspection - or some more of the most fucked up human mix ups - but since it's already enough OT, i'll stop it.

However, i don't care how long my life will last, i'm just asking for a fast and painless death. I've gone through so many ups and downs, i was part of events almost nobody else had the balls or chance to experience in his/her boring life. The fucking zillions of details most other people were unable to see, hear, taste and feel... Numerous adventures, some secrets i can never share with anyone, weird kinds of magic, the great people i shared all this with... I could go on.

As soon as i stopped asking for anything, awesome experiences and things began to come to me. I just did let them come. Hard to explain, like a deep trust that everything is right in it's place. I can only speak for myself, however. I had to learn how to change my miserable psychological imprints based on my feelings of inferiority, envyness, faintness first, which was the hard part, through the valleys of depression and anxiety, which were trying to signal to me that i should stop wanting to be somebody else who i never was.

To sum it up:
I would be pretty stupid to ask for more (longevity), ...or not?
Following my history, this would be a guaranteed way how to not get it.

Have a healthy life, brothers  Smiley

OT

Anyone into sports a bit ??
And anyone doing CrossFit?

Not crossfit but calisthenics! 18 months ago I was not able to do a single push up. Now I do stuff like handstand, L sit, hanging leg raises, weighted dips, pistol squats, pull ups, push ups. I love the progressions, being able to do more reps or to learn new skills is very satisfying. Also, as a side effect, I'm shredded the first time in my life. With almost 50 Smiley

Do you like crossfit?

I do love CrossFit (never did calisthenics… but see lot of videos… impressive sport)

Doing CrossFit for three years I guess and indeed the progression is very satisfying
Doing lot of strikt pull ups which I sucked in before… learned the butterfly pull ups and got to sets of 34-40
Toes to bar, recently muscle ups etc
But most of all my cardio is going very good…

I do not do crossfit, but i do some callistenics at some extent. Minimal, but effective enough to keep myself lean and feel (relatively) strong. Let it be 15 minutes a day, as i said, very effective and not really harming the joints like running etc. Most of my fitness is based on nutrition and food, i guess, which i had to change. Let me eat a plate of pasta to see me fighting not to fall asleep afterwards.
What i never used to do was stretching, which was a dumb mistake. Stretch after every workout, it will maintain your muscle power but save you from a lot of pain and problems with posture through stiffness.
Cardio... One of my dad's few good friends dropped dead in his 60's after a heart attack, two days (!) after being cardio-checked, when the doc was attesting him "great cardiac health".
I'd say: Always rest until fully recovered if you are sick, before getting active again. Take Lumbrokinase for a month, every five to ten years. This clears arteries of fibrin clots, the main reason for heart failures and strokes.

Maybe unrelated, but as a rule of thumb: A man's health is as good as his erection  Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy

Thanks. Just finished "One Piece" - found it very creative and also funny.
Much into Astrophotography lately, tuned my Winter telescope a bit, providing Autofocus.
The last of three clear nights in series, but the moon is setting just before midnight, unfortunately. However, i will show some stacked results in a few days here again  Cool

Finally, Antisthenes dies with this post, so you liars might rejoice again.

...

Since you're leaving us, I want to clarify this, just for the record: you mentioned in a previous post, that you took my "broken AI bot spewing incoherent crap" as referring to you. It wasn't, just like OOM's post wasn't.

You didn't have to lock yourself out in order to stop posting. Locking yourself out as a way to resist the urge to post is a sign of weakness. "Can't" is weakness, "won't" is strength.

RIP, Antisthenes, if you are, indeed, dead. ∞

Thanks bro, for clarifying. Good that this fruitless part of WO history has come to an end.
Some things just end well by letting go.
@eXPHorizon, do as advised by Antisthenes: Don't waste any more of your precious time here with us.

Well, Ledger has shit the bed yet again

Yet another reason not to dabble in shitcoins but man it has been an embarrassing year for the Ledger team. Couple all that with their software being packed with analytics tracking and they're a big NO for me now

#metoo
Ledger is featured in the bad news department nearly every year now.

How about just sticking to being a wallet? All this extra shit just increases the attack surface.

This was my desire when i first purchased a Ledger Nano. Shortly after some of my customer data was leaked.
I found the swap thing convenient, however, i don't use it.
ATM i am thinking that hammering wallet seedwords into steel plates is the most secure while convenient to use method.

Roll Eyes

Last time i reply to you:

Your "secret plan" of the great takeover got leaked almost a decade ago. This went not unnoticed. You can continue, but you are being watched. You will be crushed, you will be sanctioned, you and your children will be even poorer than ever. You will not have the power to start over again.

You (and almost every nation in this world) will have to unleash from their corrupt leaders, get rid of systemic corruption and start building states that work and globally interoperate in everybody's favor in the face ot ethical values based on consensus, instead of letting them abuse and exploit their own people for the sake of the few.

This, or slow extinction. There is no way around, and Bitcoin is one tool to build a better future.
You have to see the big picture.

BTW.: "Best exchange", "best miner"?
Reads like the words of a 12 year old.

Hm, i must have been (very) wrong to believe that evolution and human development is a one way road  Roll Eyes
The church failed, Napoleon failed, the Germans failed, Bin Laden failed, the Russians are about to fail, Asia will fail too.
Now go to school, or mommy will kick your ass when she finds out what shit you are writing on the internet, using daddy's smartphone he gave you for playing Candy Crush.

I'm astonished how willingly you are feeding data to the CIA. Cleverness can't be bought, they say...

EDIT: Learn history. Who did ever win a war of aggression? Generally, we're human by nature, we want peace and love. Well, most of us. Some are effectively... primates. Like you and your likes. History will take care of that as well.

Will you fuck off now and continue posting your misanthropic shit on X?

It is time to get beyond MtGox for good, it gets a little old and annoying after 10+ years. So please forgive our sins holding coins on a playing cards exchange, and let's get it out of the way for a clean run to new ATH's.

Seconded.
We survived FTX, so Gox should be not much of an issue, in down terms.
Also, only idiots who get paid out in Bitcoin would sell, i guess there were far less of them in the old times...
279  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: December 11, 2023, 08:23:57 PM
WHAT IS THIS?!

A DIP FOR ANTS???!!

At 10% and still going I’d call it a legitimate correction on its way to possibly being a major correction. Given the timing of it, I would say that this has perhaps been caused by the mtgox email that went out around the time of the dip. It appears that things are in place to begin distributing the gox coins and I think people are getting ahead of it.

However the gox distribution will manipulate the price, Bitcoin's future is more or less mainly dependent on 1) time and 2) fundamentals.
I may quote: "Anything else is just noise".

EDIT: Seems like the Email is noise as well: https://www.reddit.com/r/mtgoxinsolvency/comments/18fngkx/new_email_mtgoxnotice_concerning_launch_of/

EDIT2:
Quote
In a separate document sent to creditors today, Kobayashi said that on Nov. 17, the rehabilitation trustee received the redemption of 7 billion yen ($46.9 million) from the trust assets to fund the repayment. The remaining amount of the trust assets following such redemption was 8.8 billion yen, according to the notice.

Repayments in cash? But not for all of the creditors, right? I think i remember some survey about how creditors want their refunds, either $BTC or $USD.
So, does that mean that the trustee/trust already sold almost half of the gox coins? And the rest is going to creditor wallets "soon, too"?
I never have been so much into that mtGox refunding story, so please forgive if i sound clueless  Smiley

BTW, nice clothes are ALWAYS better than cheap one's. I bought an expensive leather jacket a few decades ago, and is as good many years later.

Also more durable/sustainable, when properly handled. In the end, quality wear often induces less cost, over time.

EDIT: I just remembered me buying a 10-pack of cheap t-shirts on amazon, two years ago. One wash later and they were like half sized.
I gave em to my kids, not a single one lasted longer than a few washes, mainly because of the poor stitching.
