I wanted to post an update here on the fundraiser we had last year for Baby Ethan, as several people here donated, and I shilled it a lot.  Cheesy

So, the liver transplant has finally been completed, and though it's still early days, everything is looking good.

Great news there, cap'n  Cool
Bitcoin, once again, feels a bit moar awesome to me now.

Idea:
How much do we have to spend to rename ETHan to BTCan (pronounced "Bitcoinan")?
If he'd be asked about the meaning of his name, he could reply Bitcoin saved his life  Grin
Also, he would get rid of the Shitcoin-part of his current name.

Even if i initially meant this as a joke, the longer i was actually typing it, i got more and more to think it has something to it...

In particular, we learn that German citizens will be exempt from tax on their cryptocurrency gains if they have held them for more than a year.

Fucking hate PDF's but here's the link.

Nah, not going to link pdfs, its in the article.

This can change anytime.
In Austria, for example, they had the same taxation model, before they changed it to general capital gains taxation if you bought your corn after Feb. 2021.
The interesting fact is, the law was issued later, in the summer after this cutoff date, and became effective in March 2022.  Huh
Corn bought before Feb 2021 remains tax free, as well as exchanging from/to other cryptos (stablecoins).
Only EUR gains are taxed, so you're still lucky in Austria if you bought the top after Feb.2021 and sold for EUR at a lower price.  Roll Eyes

Congratulations. You are still alive, even though you are living with politics.

Trump's method of communicating isn't a problem for anyone except himself, maybe. Anybody who doesn't like it can stop listening.

Now you are simply lying. Trump didn't shoot or attempt to shoot anyone.

The videos show the Capitol police welcoming everyone in on January 6.

Trump was promoting free trade with Russia and the Ukraine and the US. Putin liked it. No war there.

Biden stopped the free trade with Russia. War is the result.

Putin doesn't want war. How do we know? He hasn't nuked the free world as he could if he were a war monger.

The whole thing is about bringing countries into NATO, countries that are bordering Russia. Quit threatening Russia. If there had been no serious threat to them, there would be no war right now, just like there was no threat to them with Trump.

Canada and Mexico have no strength to oppose Russia. If Russia moved into Canada or Mexico, and had friendly relations with them, wouldn't that irritate the US government?

Stop irritating Russia. Pull the US out of the Ukraine before the war goes worldwide with no chance of stopping it.

Did you have a good sleep?

Cool

Mostly. Unfortunately what Trump does affects the US and the rest of the world and it is not possible to ignore it. A few of the things you mention, like the "police was welcoming people" do not match with the police dead. Perhaps the party got out of control or what's the cover for that?

If Russia wants friendly relations with his neighbours that's what they should be aiming for. They failed and used violence (they did not get the chick and decided to rape).

Anyway, back to Ukraine. I hope you slept well too.

Time to look at the rest of the story. You are missing it.

'Russia Started the War' and Other Fallacies

...

So, why does the media keep repeating the lie that Russia started the war when it is clearly false?

The fact is, Putin sent in the troops to put out a fire not to start one. If ever there was a situation where the Responsibility To Protect (R2P) could be justified, it’s in east Ukraine prior to the invasion. 14,000 ethnic Russians had been killed before the shelling began. Should Putin have looked the other way and allowed another 14,000-or-so to be slaughtered without lifting a finger?

No, Putin did what he had to do to save lives and defend Russia’s national security. Even so, he has no territorial ambitions and no desire to recreate the Soviet Empire. His “special military operation” is, in fact, a defensive operation designed to remove emerging threats that could no longer be ignored. Putin’s 83% public approval rating proves that the Russian people understand what he is doing and fully support him. (A political leader would never garner that level of support if the people thought he had launched a war of aggression.)

Some readers might remember that –before sending in the tanks– Putin invoked United Nations Article 51 which provides a legal justification for military intervention. Here’s an excerpt from an article by former weapons inspector Scott Ritter who defended the Russian action like this:

...

Cool

That's why Putin's troops attacked and tried to conquer Kyiv, while "accidentally" murdering civilians, yes?
"special military operation" my ass!
You're delusional, my brainwashed friend.

Ukraine will almost certainly get Western precision-guided rounds as part of the package. The American-developed M982 and M982A1 Excalibur artillery shells can home in on a set of GPS coordinates, and unlike artillery of the past, can hit a target with the first round. Excalibur is so precise, the U.S. Army claims, it will hit within two meters of the target “regardless of range.”

However, it is a completely different thing how the tanks react to a hit. At first, they are unlikely to know if it is artillery, a drone, an MANPAD or a Stugna-P or even a land mine. However, no matter what it is, the only thing that is clearly wrong is to sit in there. Tactical Cannon Fodder sent there by a soulless leadership.

These are very expensive. Not sure what the advantage is over e.g. Switchblade (speed?) but I thought it would be rare to see Excaliburs in action, maybe against juicy target like radars.

Especially combating T72's, where the crew is practically sitting right on their ammo. These could be fought easily and on the cheap using older, unguided anti-tank-weapons. They need closer distance, though, which is not the most favourite in face of an army that tries to break the world record in war crimes.

It seems alliances seen in current war were formed 2 years ago

https://peoplesdispatch.org/2020/12/21/us-ukraine-vote-against-un-resolution-against-nazism/

Probably unrelated:

Quote
Before the vote, a statement was made by the representative of the Russian
Federation; statements in explanation of vote were made by the representatives of the
United States and Ukraine.

while in meeting #15, on the very next day, the vote called

"A global call for concrete action for the elimination of
racism, racial discrimination, xenophobia and related intolerance and the
comprehensive implementation of and follow-up to the Durban Declaration and
Programme of Action"

Ukraine obstained, while USA voted "N" (No).

I think there has to be shed further light on this issue, because the reasonings of Ukraine and USA of voting "No" for draft resolution  "A/C.3/75/L.49" (70a) are not given in context here. I admit, this looked strange to me as well, but further investigation is needed to get more detail.
If USA and Ukraine would have voted the same in similar drafting votes (as outlined above), this would look like a no-brainer, but this way it's worth to investigate before blaming or accusing anyone. Nobody knows why the US and UA voted against this draft, but the details could be clarifying.

To sum it up: Don't judge based on the first look of something.

Its starting to dawn on them all they bought literal shit and it will be a race to the bottom.

I totally agree with you here. Unfortunately all the noise in the 'Crypto' sphere, I believe, detracts from what bitcoin is trying to become, the new world reserve currency, where you can safely store your value and know that nobody can take that from you.
It takes a certain kind of mind to see that and understand the difference from other shitcoins.
Average Joe, however, is just trying to make as much FIAT as possible by jumping on to the bandwagon of the latest shiny new "bitcoin killer". When that doesn't work out and they get rekt it leaves a bitter taste which is then associated with anything crypto (I fear I may receive a batslap soon by jjg) related, even bitcoin.
It is likely to slow the adoption of bitcoin but I don't believe it will halt it. It just might take longer to get to where we are going.
Just a theory though from a pleb that doesn't know much!

It's mostly always a mess as soon as the mainstream starts to rush in. But as so often, i'd really point out the high probabilistic chance that we well laugh about these now times as things settle down and Bitcoin established itself as a stable, reliable protocol in everday use. This may be 10 or 20 years from now, but when you look back, and count the many Bitcoin obituaries, compared to where it stands today, it grew too big to become a short lived mainstream trend. By that time, most altcoins will be distant memories of the wild-west aera of cryptocurrency...

Just my 2 cents  Grin
