2642  Other / Meta / Re: changing the password be categorized as a trading account on: February 15, 2022, 12:21:21 PM
There are many things behind changing the password and admin, moderator, members on this forum does not simply look at a change in password to make judgement that one account changed hands.

More things:
- Email change
- Secret question change
- Woke up after very long time
- Changes in posting style, language, favorite boards, etc.

Account exchange on the forum is not prohibited but discouraged.
18. Having multiple accounts and account sales are allowed, but account sales are discouraged.

-Will you quit your job if in a month, you earn more from signature campaign than you do get from working 8am - 4pm?
For many reasons, you should not
  • The forum is not an ATM
  • You can not control on how others, exclusively spammers do on the forum
  • In bad case, spam endemic is uncontrollable, theymos might do hard things such as shutting down all signature and the signature campaign, bounty industry will die.

On the forum, you can learn many things which are helpful for your adventure in crypto but don't put all your life into anything, exclusively this forum. Decentralizing your jobs and your income resources is better.

If you do research, you will know many top signature campaigns which last years and look like will last forever, suddenly stopped. Bitsler, Bustadice, YOLOdice, etc. No party will last forever!

2645  Other / Meta / Re: Attempted account hacking via forgot account password on: February 15, 2022, 01:42:17 AM
I just opened an email today and was very surprised by one of the email with the title (New password for Bitcoin Forum). I never thought I'd hit the forget password button while login so far, but in the end I just think someone tried to get into my account by pressing the forgot password button.

Do you think something like this would be very dangerous if I ignored it without changing the password to a stronger one than before?
In fact you can get rid of risk from phishing email by using a thrown-away email. No one can send you phishing email and compromise your account if you do this.
  • It leads to another thing. In order to recover your account, you need to have proof of ownership.
  • What is this? Signed message from a Bitcoin address you own. Stake them on the forum, in Stake your Bitcoin address here
  • Another helpful benefit from it: people will have to learn about non-custodial wallet and how to sign a message
2646  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: BTT Membership question on: February 15, 2022, 01:37:52 AM
Many new members don't know how to wear the Copper membership. It is not complicated but still requires a simple step to wear it. theymos answered and guided on how to do it as follows. It's very simple. Complete your transaction to buy the Copper membership and wear it.
Once you have it, you get the choice:

If you don't want to buy the Copper membership, you still can get whitelisted by LoyceV. Check

Or put efforts with contribution for the forum community, earn at least 1 merit and have enough activity point to rank up to Junior Member rank. Then you will be able to post images.

2648  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin doesn't have a bright future anymore on: February 13, 2022, 09:23:25 AM
You can not say about Bitcoin like this if you are aware that it has been changing the world.

An evolution which reshapes the finance world should be recognized with higher position and importance. There is difference between ROI for your investment with Bitcoin and Bitcoin future.

Get back to the future of Bitcoin, it is still bright about its adoption as well as price growth
  • Adoption: it's the best ever in history. Much better than the Internet
  • Price: Let's see its future supply which has less than 10% compares to total supply from now till 2140. Together with its small future supply in next 120 years, and its fast ever growth rate/ adoption rate. What do you think?

2649  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Blockchair explorer extension for tracking of Wallet addresses on any Website on: February 13, 2022, 08:41:11 AM
I found this in their privacy policies.
You don't get my point.

In the end, you are suffered with your privacy, not block explorers, nothing else. In addition, you can not trust them, rely on their statement that they completely secure your privacy, don't collect your data on their websites. I said it here as a normal user, not as an security or privacy expert so obviously I can not check their websites, codes, etc.

Furthermore, they are free to change their ToS, features, policies because of they want it or because government want it. Your privacy will lose forever when you leak it and you can not erase it on the Internet.
2650  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Blockchair explorer extension for tracking of Wallet addresses on any Website on: February 13, 2022, 01:27:33 AM
It is example on the risk of using block explorers without Tor. They collect data and you will know what will happen with the block explorer company/ owner and what is sort of new feature they might integrate in the future.

They might do something which breaks your privacy
  • Selling your data
  • Leaking your data unintentionally because of their bad security
  • Officially provides new features which allow others to use their public database which probably contains yours
2651  Other / Meta / Re: About self moderation. on: February 12, 2022, 11:59:54 AM
You are free to delete your post anytime from anywhere on the forum (some boards don't allow you to delete though).
All boards allow posters to delete their own posts but in some boards, it's up to 24 hours to be allowed to do this.
2652  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: [Guide] Using Blockchain Explorers on: February 12, 2022, 07:46:35 AM
List of useful Bitcoin block explorers. Blockchair explorer is my favorite one but I have no longer used it after the explorer changes their user interface months ago. I like the explorer with their privacy score which is available on https://blockstream.info/ explorer

The feature to get summary for account/ address balance, history, etc. is great. You did great job to point it out for newbies.

About privacy score, there are pros and cons. It is helpful to show the privacy level of your transaction from which you can learn and change the way you use input, output. However, if you use non-Tor browser to check your transactions, it might break your privacy as well. Explorers will collect your data that can be leaked or sold later.

2654  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Authy and Google Authenticator Setup on: February 12, 2022, 01:32:38 AM
Google Auth syncs with our Gmail accounts which makes it more reliable than other, you only lose access if your Gmail is compromised, about authy I'm not so sure it now supports backup.
Since when and how do you think that syncing your data to Google Gmail, Drive make you safe?

It is not too hard to make a back up for your 2FA (Authy, Google Authenticator, Aegis Authenticator, whatever
If you leave your 2FA back up on a third party service: Drive, Dropbox, etc, it means you break the idea behind 2FA. It should be kept as privately, secretly as possible and 2FA + its back up should be stored on another/ other devices, not on a same device you use that 2FA for your account.

Aegis Authenticator, a decent alternative to Google Authenticator and Authy

2655  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: I have a question about bitcoin purchases. on: February 12, 2022, 01:10:54 AM
More details, read the Bitcoin Wiki on Controlled supply
In the end of 2032 - 2036 epoch era, 99.2% of Bitcoin in total supply will be mined. You can see in it Wiki or in another version to represent it.
  • How is the 21 million Bitcoin cap defined and enforced?
  • In addition to the decrease of block reward, more miners will join, new all time high of hashrates & difficulty will occur. Consequently, less reward for each miners with same hashrate as of today.
  • If you buy Bitcoin in 2021, 2022, you are lucky as well as if you mine it in such years and in near future

2657  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Future of blockchain gaming on: February 11, 2022, 09:53:19 AM
I do think that the future of blockchain games is just starting.
Sure, it is future and not only the gaming industry but also the whole world will switch to blockchain-based technology for many industries. With on-chain gaming, there will be no way for game providers to cheat gamers. All things are transparent with open source code and on chain data. For server-based gaming, game providers can cheat users if their games are not provably fair.

Quote
So now, your question is, if the player is playing it for fun or money. That would depend on how much the player needs it, and the part that it could be the next great thing is a bonus.
Many games are on-chain already but there are something to consider and also are challenges
  • It's easily for Click to play games because there are time for on-chain confirmations but gaming experience in such games are not too attractive
  • For more complicated, well-designed graphic games, gaming experience will be much better and surely more attractive. However, there are problems with on-chain confirmations. You can not play such games and have to make transaction for each of your click and wait for confirmations. It will wipe out the gaming experience. In the end, there might be a server in between but on this point, there will be more issues with security.
2658  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Future of blockchain gaming on: February 11, 2022, 09:26:38 AM
They have no future. Play to earn model is unsustainable if everyone is trying to earn and no one is putting real money in, and no one is going to put real money into such low effort products. And the companies that make AAA games are perfectly fine with their profit model, they report record sales almost each year, they would be nuts to implement any of that blockchain crap, considering the overwhelming negative response from gaming community every time someone tries to introduce NFTs.
Play to earn is great. Who don't like to play and earn but the big and very challenging question is
  • Where is the money for your earning come from?
  • Who do make that money and spend it to you?
  • Developers don't make those money (in tokens, coins) with anything backed by real value behind. Gamers don't create those money. So if it is solely based on Play to Earn mode, it should be a Ponzi scheme
  • The only way to make it more sustainable is make the role of Play to Earn in GameFi becomes smaller and less important. PvP mode is a good solution as well as others with more use cases for GameFi tokens
2659  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: [Guide] Using Blockchain Explorers on: February 11, 2022, 02:51:16 AM
"Not your Node, Not your Rules." Running your own node is advisable. You need to have a basic technical ability is required to operate a full node. I found this thread explaining the basics of running a personal node How to run and operate your own bitcoin node
Having a full node will help you when you broadcast your transactions but else, you can still use Tor browser to check your transaction to know whether it has confirmation(s) or not. With your own full node, you will be able to broadcast your transaction to protect your privacy and don't have to use any block explorer to check confirmation.

VPNs do not provide anonymity. They will provide additional privacy in some situations, but never anonymity. And if you use a free VPN, then your security and privacy will likely be worse than using nothing at all.
It's my mistake. Thank you for the correction. Privacy relates to how we connect to the Internet. Anonymity relates to how we use inputs and outputs for our transactions. It's best to have both privacy and anonymity. Many people think they will get better privacy by using free VPN that is not true.

Also, the privacytools team have now migrated to privacyguides.org. You can read the reasons why here: https://privacyguides.org/blog/2021/09/14/welcome-to-privacy-guides/.
Here is the equivalent page regarding VPNs: https://privacyguides.org/providers/vpn/
The warning is very clear and thank you for sharing both documents.
2660  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: [Guide] Using Blockchain Explorers on: February 10, 2022, 12:49:39 PM
If you want to be completely anonymous  use a TOR browser and a strong VPN service to access explorers.
If you use Tor, you does not need to use VPN service so it should be or, not and. If you use a VPN service, you should use a paid one in order to get both seamlessly connections and anonymity. If you use a free version, you might not have best protection for your anonymity.

Tor is the same and it is a free browser to use but sometimes its operations is low and some websites don't accept Tor.
