I saw many posts which is made by looking the title but not OP. Some of them isn't considered off-topic! Huh For example, if someone wrote a problem with Android wallet, some users spam the thread with Android wallet names. One or two get deleted but not all.

=snip=
4. Posts that contain ref-link
 =snip=

There are some exceptions in this rule. Post containing referral link are spam if it was made only for advertising referral link or if it is off-topic or if the user is spamming with it.

2844  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Storing Bitcoin on: April 19, 2015, 07:42:46 AM
I've got about $700 that I want to use to buy Bitcoin and hold it for the long run. I am having a hard time choosing where I want to store this coin, encrypted desktop wallet, blockchain.info, blockchain.info paper wallet, TREZOR, or something else. If I go with a TREZOR then I'll only have around $600 to spend on buying coin. What do you guys think is my best option for storing 3 Bitcoins for the long run?

If I were you, I would download the bitaddress code from Github (https://github.com/pointbiz/bitaddress.org), disconnect from internet and create a new paper wallet for it. Depending on your paranoid level, you may boot from a Linux LiveCD to be sure malware doesn't affect you.

I downloaded the bitaddress code, turned off wifi, opened the html file and generated a new wallet. However, in order to print the paper wallet, I have to turn my wifi back on. Isn't this a security risk?

If your printer works off of wifi, it probably also has a USB slot or a SD card input?
Try taking a screen shot of your generated address, put it on a USB stick or SD card and then stick it in your printer and print.

Why connect USB to a computer? Connect USB directly to a printer and print a Bitcoin address with Mycelium Entropy. https://mycelium.com/entropy
2845  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Needing help with Antminer U3 /Raspberry Pi on: April 19, 2015, 07:29:14 AM
I chose cgminer.

I'm a bit confused with the settings...  Lips sealed

What is Append JSON conf (-c /var/www/minera/conf/miner_conf.json)?
How should I set the other on/off buttons? (Script, auto login, auto-debug...)

My miner seems to be recognized, but I can't get a hash rate

Have you read README?

Quote
The installer will configure the system requirements and will tell you the URL to connect to.

Default URL: http://[your-minera-ip]/minera/ Default password: minera

Important: minera system user has password "minera", you should change it if your system is a public host with SSH access.

sudo passwd minera

This isn't the web password, to change the web password, login into the web interface and go to Miner -> Settings

And what exactly are error/rejected rates?  Huh

They are either invalid (bad hash of good data) or stale (good hash of bad data)

When a block is found any share you are working on or submitting is no longer worth anything.  They are stale.   If you push GPU too hard it will make mathematical errors producing invalid hashes.

Thanks a lot for your answers!  Smiley

Anytime.

Daughter of Pastor Gang-Raped by Muslim Men in Uganda: ‘Your Father Should Close the Church’

A 17-year-old daughter of a Ugandan Christian pastor was allegedly gang-raped by five Muslim men after her father ignored the men’s threats warning him to stop having worship services at his church located in the Muslim-majority Budaka district.

Morning Star News reports that an unnamed pastor, who preaches at the New Hope Church in the Kaderuna sub-county of the district, received a number of threatening messages and text messages telling him to disband his church in the area because it was responsible for helping lead locals to convert from Islam to Christianity.

Any other source, please? I searched but all I could find is news from Christian sites and/or unpopular sites. It will be helpful if you can give another source. Thank you.

You can do: current_date - date_your_site_was_online.

You may get useful code from https://www.easycalculation.com/date-day/add-subtract-dates.php.

2854  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Top 5 Bitcoin Wallets on Android on: April 18, 2015, 07:33:56 PM
its kind of scary if one of the developers installs a malware to steal your coins. you would never know. or maybe the dev got hacked and didnt even know someone installed a trojan to steal coins sometime in the future. thats why is it worth it to go with mainstream wallets vs not so mainstream?

Use open source wallets such as Bitcoin Wallet by Andrease Shildbach. Check the code before installing or ask a person you trust to do it. After that, you can compile and build an APK file yourself. Don't update after that unless it is a ciritical update.

maybe its better to understand how to generate your own addresses by coding it urself.

You can use a dice to create a private key. For converting private key to public key, you will have to use any script which does it. For example, bitaddress.org. Download it and use it in an offline machine(mobile or pc).

That's what I suggested somewhere else. Roll a 6 sided casino grade dice, about 100 times.

If you get a 1, write down 0.
If you get a 2, write down 1.
If you get a 3, write down 2.
If you get a 4, write down 3.
If you get a 5, write down 4.
If you get a 6, write down 5.

base6 number = 3315135445300124430102440020244024024200400400022442224420424444024020024240204 40440400202424020222

convert to base 16 = 8E85A30B4276949DBFBC8771EDC4BCF98B66785E68D22D162CE6E8D69D50819B

which is:
Private Key: L1zkkHQDDtQTDRtZQwJJxATFrDMTstGxMsKhxySaa4vqEFtwtnmd
Bitcoin Address: 16PYKf15c4kH7jYM4MTwQCgcmYuviLxGxB

You could also use 16 sided dice, there's one that's even called and labeled "hexadecimal dice".

Another way:

Another way to do this, for "perfect" entropy calculation is to roll six-sided dice and write down bits.  Then convert those directly to a private key.

If you roll:

1:  write down "00"
2:  write down "01"
3:  write down "10"
4:  write down "11"
5:  write down "0"
6:  write down "1"

Yes, you only get one bit when you roll a 5 or 6, two bits for everything else.  Stop when you have written down 128, 160, 192 or 256 bits (whatever your preference is).  If the dice rolls are perfectly random, so will your resulting binary string.

Which miner did you choose? CGMiner or BFGMiner?

[...] when the Government needs any info, it's hard to convince them. [...]

Huh... Huh What's you talking about? What does government have to do with this? Did you even read the subpoena (let alone the rest of this thread before posting)?

I just found this: http://www.plainsite.org/dockets/download.html?id=176216470&z=77fe495b

And this http://ia801803.us.archive.org/33/items/gov.uscourts.ksd.97083/gov.uscourts.ksd.97083.68.1.pdf

I thought it is the Government agency who issued this.  Huh

If you know better than me, then would you mind explaining when the following are the Target accounts:

BFL_Josh
BFL_Sonny
BFL-Engineer
Inaba
BFL AM Dave
bcp19
nibbknot
SLok

Why did they ask for all the posts that mentioned that term?

They think all posts and PMs will be helpful for their investigation but theymos has reduced it(according to OP).

P.S.

=snip=
The subpoena originally demanded all PMs that even mentioned BFL, which is ridiculous, but I managed to get this part eliminated.

Use CGMiner in Minera. If it isn't there by default, download it and also download Zadig[1] and install both. After installing, you only have to choose pool, username and password. You will ne able to run it.

[1] http://ck.kolivas.org/apps/cgminer/zadig/

P.S. Read README[2] and use default url to access settings. It is good to change default password.

Use Minera. It is easy to setup and good for Raspberry Pi.
