So. Farewell Yobit?
You spammed us all flipping day.
Please stay fucked right off.
Whaaaat??
Guess that will conclude my *experiment* into paid campaigns.  That's ok, its been quite interesting to track my posting habits and see just how much attention I attribute to gainz. It'll be nice to return to a more organic presence without that burden.
Until next time, Muhahaha

You could get on a much better campaign than Yobit!
Personally, I had no issues with Yobit despite hearing others strong opinions. It was never about the particular campaign for me but more the idea of posting for profit and following my experience with it. I'm not sure that I'd join another in the future. Too taxing ultimately.  Here's a post I left on the campaign wall going into that a little. Probably could have done better at describing my experience but, fuck it, I'm getting paid yo! Haha  Wink

Thank you for all your work and posts!
Thank you!
It's been a great journey for me personally into posting for profit. Although I've remained excited to receive profit for something I'd have done anyway, it eventually became a chore or burden on me to post for profit. Although I've attempted to remain genuine, I've learned that posting for profit stimulates my greed and ultimately reduces my genuine desire to be involved.
I feel I've benefited from this experience both financially and as a reflection tool. For this I'm grateful, after all it all about learning.  For the forum I can genuinely say that I'll be happy to see the yobit spam responses go. Kudos to Theymos and the entire community for having the patience to allow this campaign to run its course.

Perhaps I'm just becoming numb to the health scares. Wasn't it SARS, H1N1, Ebola, Zika, and Avian bird flu recently?
I'm more inclined to think this could be a Chinese military exercise on population quarantine/controls on mass scale.
I think corona virus will fade just like the others did.
308  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Elon Musk finally weighs in on Bitcoin in a longer than usual commentary on: January 26, 2020, 01:23:20 AM
It's very interesting to notice Elon's behavior as soon as the question of Bitcoin comes up.  First reaction is he crosses his arms, soon after I see him shifting in his seat uncomfortably.  I don't feel he actually said anything at all about Bitcoin and perhaps that was the intention?
Elon is surrounded by many wealthy and powerful people. Those people will certainly have influence over him and quite possibly want to muzzle any significant conversation regarding BTC among other contentious topics.  If not, I'm sure Elon is aware of his own influence over the public and likely understands the repercussions that could come from commenting on Bitcoin and therefore does a hand-waive dismissal of the topic.
Disappointing surely but I understand how his hands are kinda tied here.

You don't like dollars?  Name your poison.  Gold?  BTC gonna go up against gold.  Light Sweet Crude?  BTC goin' up.  The price of ladyboys in Bangkok?  BTC will go up.
......
How much you paying for ladyboys these days? BTC price prefferable  Wink

I hate to be white-knighting Millionero or any other WO peep for that matter, but I am fairly positive that Millionero was only speaking hypothetically in regards to the ladyboy matter, not from actual personal experience(s).

Now I am getting embarrassing.

Hopefully seen as friendly banter. Just having some fun. You knew that right?.... right?

Why it would go up please? I don't understand...

Cos it's BTC.
What do you mean? It's something that goes up with no reason? Till which level?

To 9000, obviously.
Because it would suit you?  Roll Eyes
In two years it will go much higher than $9k.
Perhaps its fiat that will go much lower?  Currently the FED is printing .014% more of the 23 trillion national debt each day ($3.3 Billion 2019 average).  That's serious inflation  Roll Eyes

I was agreeing with you over 'the price' in relation to USD going up.  I don't agree that measuring BTC by any metric we have today is fairly comparable. It's considered a non-correlated asset and we struggle to attribute a value to it because we are using metrics we are familiar with.
My point is that Bitcoin is the stable asset compared with USD.

Like others have said, I doubt that you'd extract any meaningful metric of price 20 or 40 years from now and I'd encourage you to focus on learning about Bitcoin rather than speculating potential gains and prices.

What I like about your post is that you're speaking of keeping your savings in Bitcoin! I think that is what will fuel the next round of interest and ultimately leading to wider adoption.
Saifdean A. recently said, "Savings is the most subversive thing you can do with Bitcoin"

313  Economy / Speculation / Re: What set of conditions can crash blockchain or bitcoin to zero USD? on: January 25, 2020, 09:08:29 AM
What set of conditions (technical or socio-economic) can crash blockchain or bitcoin to zero USD? Is this notion of bitcoin crashing inconceivable at this point 10 years into its existence (so long as there is electricity and the internet)? My corollary question is: Can bitcoin be obsoleted by another cryptocurrency? What would that path of obsoletion look like for bitcoin? For example, I hear about other crypto currencies like Etherium or Lightcoin or Bitcash or Altcoin or Bitgold. What would be signs to look for that would make it prudent to cash out of Bitcoin to buy Etherium, for example.
I can appreciate your line of questioning. I think many, most or all of us have had to ask theses questions in our early discovery of BTC. Rightfully so, Bitcoin is not like any currency or tech we've ever experienced and anyone investing will want to know that their investment is on reasonably solid ground.
Learning why Bitcoin is immutable & censorship resistant is the key to answering your question for yourself. Sure, everyone can give their conclusions on how it could happen, war etc. Because Bitcoin is a relatively new concept and a new proposal to value, scarcity and money in general, it requires each of us who questions it to rethink, re-learn and discover the hard fundamental values of this new digital money. It's not exactly something most people simply 'get' in their first attempts but with perseverance and decent teachers it's easier to jump into the Bitcoin rabbit hole.
Nobody wants to miss this train but because so few are willing to understand money and value, most will miss it no less. Redefining money will take time, we are still so early.
May I suggest starting with Andreas Antonopoulos if you're not already familiar.

Noticing that since starting a daily DCA I care even less when the price goes down. More corn for the hodl! I'd even prefer to stay below 10K as long as possible. Its almost inevitable that at some point in the (all to soon) near future mere bit cents .01 could be much more difficult to acquire.
Bitcoin advertisements in the wild are at an all time high, hash rate is ATH, curiosity and education is growing healthy. The stage is being set. Enjoy the stacking opportunities of sub 10K corn. We already know they will buy fomo at higher prices  Wink
It just can't look like a bubble this time.

317  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Coin Join and obfuscating identity, balances, privacy. Is it advisable? on: January 22, 2020, 01:27:28 AM
Trezor does not know your seed (it is generated when you set up your wallet for the first time), so they cannot ever have access to your wallet.

right, but if you use the mytrezor.com web wallet, I ***think*** the website can access the extended public keys (xpub) for each address chain for your seed. If that's correct, SatoshiLabs have access to all the information about all transactions for all addresses generated from your Trezor seed, despite not knowing the seed itself (this is assuming the way the mytrezor.com web-wallet operates, I may be wrong)

the ways to use a Trezor hardware wallet with address privacy in mind are:

I myself use python-trezor at the moment (with the help of some bash scripts that use both the trezorctl and bitcoin-cli command line utilities). Future incarnations of the HWI tool will be more integrated into the Bitcoin Core wallet, the 0.20.0 release in May includes a big step forward in that direction (a vast overhaul of the wallet code that allows the flexibility to, i.e. in this case let the Trezor act as the transaction signer for a watch-only wallet kept on the computer running Bitcoin Core). In the end, IIUC the goal with HWI is to make a GUI interface that's accessible from within the Bitcoin Core Qt GUI, maybe some of that will be included in 0.20.0 with any luck (ping @achow101 who's part of the work on HWI)
Sadly, I use windows and have a plug and play education  Embarrassed
Thanks for reminding me where this rabbit hole starts. In this case I'll likely be waiting for dev tools in windows or other HW solutions focused on privacy. For now I'd just like to break analytics and the connection to identity. Can Trezor conceivably know my identity from my use of mytrezor.com or my use of the bridge to wallet.trezor.io?

I have been to a local Bitcoin meet-up this evening.
Host/Valet: Giacomo Zucco
Special Guest: Saifedean Ammous.
I think you know the guy.

Best quote of the night:

Quote from: “Saifedean Ammous”
“The most subsersive thing you can to with bitcoin is saving”

 ❤️#nohomo

That was great!

Edit: the concept has been told a few times:

Quote
"The only crime you should do with Bitcoin is saving and that's the most powerful of the crimes"
@saifedean

I really like both these guys. That's a conference I'd like to attend.
Nice quotes also, I'll try to remember them.

My guess is Vietnam too.
Tossing at Phantom Rang (no clue why... just hinting because of kites in the background and googled kite destinations in Vietnam and liked the name).

You are a bit late, the competition was already won  Wink

Damn real life pulling me away from WO thread!
Phan Rang is a good guess, have spent a lot of time there in the past before it became discovered as a kite destination. Water not as blue as the previous photos but the landscape in the area is stunning weathered exposed aggregate rocks down to the ocean. Visit by motorbike if ever you have the chance.

I see the corn tried to shake a few out before catching a bid higher.  Down to 8500 and right back up to 8700
320  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Coin Join and obfuscating identity, balances, privacy. Is it advisable? on: January 21, 2020, 06:48:46 AM
I've been thinking much more about using a coin join service since my OP and in my attempts to fight for privacy in general, it seems logical that my coins should not allow analytics at this time. One part I'm still confused about before I attempt this is whether or not my Trezor is linked to my coins, perhaps by my seed and ultimately known to Trezor company? What if they are acquired in the future?
Is is advisable to use a different seed or entirely new Trezor after the mix finishes? One that would only ever receive coinjoins and never from an exchange or KYC source.
