gotta see if I can actually live a normal life without a bank.

I've been doing it for a few years now myself... almost. I don't have a bank account at present but I do have a credit card.

Hey Jimbo and other Canadians,
Anyone using https://bullbitcoin.com/?
Supposedly the first exchange/payment portal that makes customers hold their own BTC, does not trade other coins and offers Canadians an avenue for any bill payments using BTC.

I've registered then decided not to follow through until I hear from someone else that its working. I think something in the terms read funny and I chickened out.

Happy summer, I've been busy and mostly in lurk mode but staying up to date (mostly) with the thread.

Alrighty guys, tomorrow i will buy my first 50€ worth of Bitcoin. In what do you think should i invest afterwards ? Or should i invest into Altcoin first then when i increase my Portfolio i buy The King BTC?

Right on, welcome to BTC!  I think you should invest time into learning as much about bitcoin as you can handle.  Personally I'd stay away from altcoins.  I think its the general consensus here that most of them are doomed in the long run. The way I see it, buying any of them for any reason is akin to high risk gambling.

Sorry about JJG, he can be a bit much sometimes and we've even picked a day of the week to remind him that his long-winded  replies can often miss the mark completely.

Oh, would you look at that, its Thursday, STFU JJG!!

Jesse Powell, CEO of Kraken, about tether and bitcoin growth.

I hope it is true Smiley

I think it's true, retail is watching closely.
Just today a friend who'd previously lost ALL her BTC on Quadrigax asked me about BTC again.
Took the opportunity to buy her a copy of The Bitcoin Standard and promised to help when she's ready again. Purse.io again for another 25% discount

Don't give him to much credit Jimbo, that has to be earned, in the future the further we go the more comedian he shall be Cheesy

OK maybe he's just an asshole but deep down inside where it really matters, he's full of shit.  Grin

Maybe its time to bring back proudhon's historic turning post where he's disgusted by amateur trolling attempts and shows us how its really done. Never break character

Looked for awhile but couldn't find it.  2 merits for the finder.

hello

I have sold half my coins on the way up, not wanting to go back to so "little" value as before. Now of course it seems stupid to have done that, but catching the top is not my forte. When this bull run started I figured, when my stash is worth a certain amount (one with enough 0s), I'm selling everything but 1 coin.

Now I don't know. On the one end, if such bust and bull runs can still happen, then the logic is to sell at one point yes, but with the goal to buy back later when it will have crashed. I expect I could double my stash at least from doing that.

Then again, maybe it's the last bull run, and once it's down, if I convert from cash to coins again, I will have double the coins, but which will never rise again.

I know some of you have enough coins to play all scenarios, but not me.

When I say the plan was to sell once enough 0s reached, the idea was to get that money out and invest it in something else, probably a mix of real estate and stocks, or just real estate.

Now it seems playing with coins at least a couple years more might be well worth it.

But it's such a wild ride !

Well have fun paying massive tax, being put on on some sort of list, and also get some good lawyers. Biggest reason to hold is that even if your bitcoins are from licit origin, it's a gamble how the government will deal about it.

Also lol at this is the last bullrun.
I bought back coins this morning (at a higher price than I had sold...) and now the magic number I was thinking about might happen today as things are going.

And I have revised this number once, by computing how much income tax I would have to pay to be good with the taxman, that's about 35% tax, so I added that to the number.

FOMO I can understand, but it's also too many people with lots of money they don't know where else to invest in. I don't know such people, I'm almost the only person I know that owns stocks for example.
This made me laugh. Good on ya. HODL   BTW congrats on becoming hero!

I refreshed coinmarketcap and see Bitcoin way above $13k....what the heck!!!!!

Seems cool, but it will be below $10k again, and eventually below $1k again. We probably won't ever see the price above $15k, and almost certainly it will never create new ATHs. There are too many confirmed problems with bitcoin as I have verified over the years. China, Russia, and now Facebook, make it a near certainty. Shorting is wise, but not with too much leverage because bitcoin is unstable enough that random and irrational movements can wipe you out, but the downtrend to zero is definitely still on track if you just look at the data.

It must be time for this one again.

Well, if this move up isn't retail or joe public which it doesn't really feel like, could that mean OTC sellers are drying up and perhaps forcing buyers to the exchanges?
Maybe we just have good ol' manipulation from the single entity dood from bitfinex Wink
For some reason I still feel cool as a cucumber with the hodl but realized today I had not planned my mental state for such gainz.  Found myself trying to come up with "The Number" which will set me for life.  Not that I'm close (yet).
Anyway, second beer speaking and I will not be returning to my work this evening because tradeview is paying way more  Wink

This is starting to make me a little nervous. I'm getting deja vu December 2017. Can't the market be a little flat for a spell?
