Bitfinex still on a rip towards the largest long position since 2018.  Does this mean absolutely nothing? Makes me think we're about to strike upwards towards 8.5-9K

By the way:
This week i was up for a visit to the bank. A bank of which i am not a customer.
As i don't really want to keep my seeds and (future) paper wallets at home, i asked for the price of a safe and if the contents are insured an all.
Mr. bankster asked me about the value and physical size of the entities i plan to put in there, so i said it would be foldable paper and a handful of items of the size of a matchbox. When he asked me for the value, which determines price and insurance, i said it is volatile in value and it might be anything between x1 (by current btc price) and x100 or even more in the next 30-50 years. So Mr. bankster said he has to contact his boss, who is the local manager of the safe, who in turn should call me on the same afternoon for speaking about details and possibilities.
I never heard of them again, no call from either of the two.

Well, this leaves me with the impression that safes seem to be a pain in the ass for banks (or this bank only, idk).
I found it quite unfair to base the price to rent a safe on the value of the content. Insurance, yes, that didn't surprise me that much. Seems like they out the amount which was estimated the value of the safe contents for. I can't just pay only for the safe and insurance covers the value of all that's in it, in case of physical desctruction, theft and loss.

Trying to get useful service from a notary will be coming next. I'll keep you posted.

No need for a safe. With Bitcoin, you are the bank! Just follow these simple steps:

1. Get a Trezor or Ledger.
2. Initialize it and write down the recovery seed.
3. Use an additional passphrase and keep it in your head (don't write it down).
4. Transfer your coins to that wallet (seed + passphrase).
5. Store the seed (but not the passphrase) in 3-4 separate places.
6. Done! Your coins are more secure than any vault in Zürich.

That's the beauty of Bitcoin. Being non-physical has its perks!
Now, try do this with gold or silver...

Additionally, if i suddenly leave this life, i want my children and wife to take over the wallets. There will be trouble with the passphrase, i guess.
I may have suggested this before, sorry if I repeat but there's an easy solution to this.
Keep your seed in several locations under your control only. Keep the passphrase with several family members but never written with the seed.
Sleep easy knowing it would likely take calculated and direct efforts to compromise both locations to reveal the private key.

Late Edit:  AlcoHoDL's advice above is likely the most secure option but probably too much for the average Hodl that does not have hundreds of thousands or millions in coin to safeguard. Most anyone who will be robbed will also have been targeted and likely with some knowledge of the amount of holdings they are after.
I don't however agree with HairyMaclairy in separation of seed words for the simple reason of 2 possible sources needing to remain secure.
Jupiter troll  post below this made me lol.

Sorry to hear about your finger. Sad
I've done one of mine many years ago in a box and pan break. No fun

Speaking of red trust here's one for the current WO turd fire.

Peter McCormack calling Richard Heart a scammer for Hex on his podcast. LOL
Richards knows it and can't even put on a poker face.

The whole stream of Richard's longer monologue that followed his discussion with Peter is something like 2.5 hours, and I was lulled a bit into watching and listening to Richard's nonsensical monologue for a bit over an hour and a half before I could not take it any longer.

It is like self-abuse

I didn't listen to the podcast and likely won't. My brain goes through the equivalent of a gag reflex trying to hear past Richard's ego. Other sensory challenges including that crooked candelabra and game of thrones chair of his every video makes it impossible to not feel completely repulsed well before he opens his mouth.

The new hat. Decided this was the most incognito and least likely to draw unwanted attention. Lets see if anyone recognizes it at all.

Hey WO gang

I found something for the HODLsleep:

https://www.bitlisten.com/

Quote
Realtime Bitcoin transaction visualiser.

See and hear new transactions, trades and blocks as they arrive.
Very cool, I've not seen that one before.  Also didn't realize how many tiny transactions take place.

Just realized that the money I'm using today is worth less than the Satoshi equivalent.
This has been true since Bitcoin was around $4000
Bitcoin overtakes one by one at first, then it becomes clear. HODL

I like that belt buckle but dunno if I could swing the P.I.M.P look.  Jot me down for a bookend if you do a run.

Not as it is, that steel will surface rust.
Gold plated would be gaudy

Actually, yes, rust was my main concern. Powder coated or enameled for the win.

I am really impressed how well a hot oil finish holds up actually, but I can look into powder coat.  It will, of course, increase the cost, orange or black?
I actually like the steel look best but black would be preferable to orange. I trust your judgment on the hot oil finish.

Dang, slept a few hours, checks price = same same @7200, read WO to find out there was a bart party. Not sure if I missed anything at all.
For anyone else who missed the dildo party, Bitfinex is still going strong & long. #nohomo

I was under the impression that US senate and congress persons were not permitted to hold Bitcoin.

Can I mirror my trezor wallet on Bitcoin core? Perhaps a watch only wallet.  I'm not intending to use the synced wallet for new transactions quite yet since I'm familiar with the trezor.
473  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Advice on Raspberry pi hardware for running full BTC node on: December 01, 2019, 01:41:47 AM

Had to step away for a bit due to travel and now finally getting back to the Rpi 4 full node mission.
Wow, what a difference downloading core to an internal ssd on a good computer makes! Finished in 20 hours!  Was expecting at least a few days from my previous experience.
I should have it copied to an external HD and running on the Rpi shortly.  Fingers crossed.

Happy December WO's!
November closed in the red, open 9158, closed 7550

Travels have forced me to skim through a couple dozen pages to get caught up.
The new WO sunshine anal therapy trend fits well with my current environment, now, which family member to ask for help with the time lapse photos.  Cheesy Wink

Mixed feelings about recent price direction combined with recession talks has caused some sphincter clenching which has not been enjoyable. Still buying and HODLing but feeling the need to distance myself temporarily from the inner bull for optimal health.
The last 2 Decembers saw and ATH and then a deep low, so for balance I'm expecting this one to go mostly sideways.
Big love and HODL tight if you can!

475  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: November 27, 2019, 07:29:20 AM
I'm sure Mic is joking...

But...

Always keep several copies of your recovery seed in paper (or other non-digital) form, and not all in one physical place (e.g., if you have two houses, keep copies in both). Also, use a passphrase in addition to the seed, and never write it down, for plausible deniability and also in cases where someone finds your seed and recognizes what it is.

Another thing I want to stress is that TREZOR, Ledger, and any other h/w wallet that uses standard BIP protocols (almost all of them do), are all interchangeable. This means that you only need the seed (+ the passphrase, if you use one). There is absolutely no difference if you use a TREZOR, Ledger, or even a s/w wallet like Mycelium. Your coins are not "stored" inside these devices. They exist in a universe-sized, multidimensional mathematical construct, and you only have a map to find them. The map is you seed (+ the passphrase, if you use one). That's all you'll ever need to access them.

So, don't worry if you ever lose your TREZOR or Ledger. They are just containers of something you (should) already have.

I may add that keeing portions of the seed (wordlist) in several places makes sense, too.
If there's theft or robbery, they will only get away with a part of the seed.
Be sure to include detailed information in your testament.
I think obfuscating the seed by separating it into 2 or more places poses more risk than it mitigates no?  If you have a passphrase that's not written with the seed then it won't matter if the whole seed phrase is lost to theft assuming you have a backup or a wallet still running it.   I could see where giving the passphrase to a family member would make sense in the case of your passing while your seed or hw wallet could be found in your safe box.
I only say this because there's quite a few people who go to unnecessary lengths to hide their seed words by circling words in a book, keeping half here, half there, mixing the order and other silly ways of losing or forgetting how to put it back together properly.  Reckon it's probably one of the top 5 ways funds have been lost.

Buying at 7k in Sept 2018 felt risky for short term and it payed well to be patient until low 3K.  Buying at 7k in Nov. 2019 feels like a decent bargain this time around with significantly less risk.  Sentiment expects more downwards action for a few days before a slow reversal.  Could we drop to 6.5K, 6k, 5.5K, even 4K.  I don't know but it seems there's way more room to the upside than downside in today's market where so many new investors want a piece of the pie. The big moves will be done over the counter as not to move the markets and will only be felt long after the deal.
TLDR,
Don't want to miss the bottom? It's accumulation time.

Wow, what a ride, $6785 bottom today!   Its like that moment you'd lose your breath on a rollercoster dive,  love it and hate it, want it to end but still want more.
Feels good to be alive.  Front row seats in the worlds most exciting market.

Fully expecting a game of chicken with the long term trend line soon and maybe even a spot below for awhile, get ready.
