As bitcoin's price has gone up significantly over the past year, its forced me to examine several aspects of my own psyche. Mostly greed and fear. I've been beaten down every time I got greedy and rewarded for holding and sticking to my beliefs.
Lately I've been considering the possibility that the larger unidentified market makers could actually be benevolent and hold greater visions for BTC despite the popular belief that bitcoin market manipulation is used for personal gain.

An entire civilization raised on the ideals of capitalization and control cannot conceive immediately a system which does not aim to "take" but rather give freely to the benefit of all.
It's true that it is not decided what bitcoin will become or if it will succeed but it's evident that this is our opportunity and no others are currently on the horizon.
I think the real success of BTC will be in its ability to change greed constructs.

Yes, I know, echo chamber.  Just had to write that thought out.

I'm liking this current ascending triangle. Should break within the day.

The amount of coins for sale on Stamp have been under 2000 for a couple days now and looking rather thin. Not sure if its like this on other exchanges. I'm kind of excited to see what happens when the market sells get ultra wafer thin although nervous at the same time.  Looks like 10k could be the magic moment.

I must have forgotten to save the link to the tracking of coinbase user accounts. I think it was Torque who posted it. Anyone kind enough to share it again.

Hey man! Yeah, they have a tally right on their home page, just scroll down a bit where it says "customers served". Currently at 12.8M accounts. It looks like they added ~400K accounts in just about the past week or two. I'm hoping they can average ~1M new accounts per month all through next year.
Thanks, you had found and posted a historical chart as well. Was hoping to see this to get an idea of user adoption on a time scale. If you don't have it saved, I'll just scroll through your posts for the past month or so.

Here's the only one I've seen. I'm not sure where you can find a live updated version.

Too bad, I thought it was a live version. Anyhow I guess this will have to do for historical. Snapshots from the waybackmachine  https://web.archive.org/web/*/https://www.coinbase.com/about
Looks like coinbase (according to them) have registered 400K users in the last week!
Lift off?

Hey all, Im hoping some of you might be able to help me help a recent batch of newbs in the community who've found bitcoin investment /derivatives sites. This is the 3rd time friends have come to me in the last few months and I just don't have the research into them to show how they are a bad idea besides explaining that they are not in control of private keys and I honestly don't know how they work.
Here's one that is starting to circulate  in a small expat community where I spend time in SE Asia. https://letsgeton.usitech-int.com

While I'm willing to help those who've just discovered BTC,
I believe this type of introduction to bitcoin does not help the community or Bitcoins future.
Any links to well written articles/ arguments against this kind of investment would be appreciated.
Sorry to bring this to the WO thread but honestly I don't post or follow other places and I'm sure many of you have already navigated this.
Cheers

Had to go dark for a few days doing some international travel. Just arrived to Ho Chi Minh and checked in on the bitcoin shop on Bui Vien. They've got a 2 way bitcoin atm machine and a crypto counter buying and selling the top 15 or so. The limits were fairly decent per transaction , about 10k.
This is my game changer.  No longer will I need to travel with stacks of cash, dodge or declare to customs.
Glad I missed the Wu-Ver-Wright FUD. Not expecting it to be over quite yet although I'm not even concerned about it.  Go Bitcoin!

https://youtu.be/hXRhIXp4idM It`s Amazing ~ Official BitConnect Music Video

It's hard to find the words. But who can resist something that gives you financial independence and makes you smile? Nothing's ever done that for me before other than dead aunties who died, but not before pulling my plonker around when no one was looking.

It gets worse!

No way could I sit through 12.5 minutes of that.  But really? Who the fuck makes 5 or six (almost well done) music videos all strung together.  Looks like they made one video for each buyer profile including a cheesy Asian vid.  Oh yeah, go bitconnect go! Hahaha.. derp

Not that I could argue with spongebob, but the thing is a good idea, we are a bit underestimating it, according to myself Smiley
But apparently the dump is actually due to a prince in saudi arabia saying something bad?!?

This just might cause it to tumble like it has.
AM I right? Roll Eyes
You're about 2 weeks late on that.

My bet is we see 6200-6300 with at least 1 bounce before that.  Not sure after that but 4500-5K is still in play.

Wondering if 6k will hold instead of 7k.  Guess right and be rewarded.

Guess wrong and get roached out of the market...
Nah, I won't gamble more than 10% of the stash.
Haha, I think you just coined a new term. "Getting Roached"

Is there any danger in holding coins on a segwit address vs a legacy address in trezor? Say if segwit got back-peddled.

Happy November 5th my Anonymous friends!

Nice to see you back! Was starting to wonder.
Is the user anonymous or can you out the user name at least?

I thought about that. Should I out him? It's a newb account with like a dozen or so posts. But interestingly, it doesn't fit the profile of a typical throwaway troll account. His initial posts seem to indicate that he's perhaps somewhat young-ish and passionate about Bitcoin, pro-Bitcoin beyond just making money. I know posts can be deceiving though.

I thought that maybe I would just let it lie for now. Maybe if he is reading this then perhaps he will realize that he made a rash decision in PM'ing me and regret it. I always try to give people second chances to make right.

Respect!

How much do accounts like ours go for, anyway? Surely he has a max price in mind.

I dunno, his PM just said "Name your price." I didn't reply, and don't plan to.

Andreas A. supports lightning network solution over big blocks if that helps to ease anyone's mind.
1260  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: November 03, 2017, 06:11:46 PM
One of the key securities of Bitcoin is that it will not be successfully forked. If such an event were to occur it would mean it cannot be trusted and therefore die and become mutable. On principle alone we must go forward only with consensus to changes from the majority of users not hash power manipulation and FUD.
This will come down to what we believe in.
Lets talk about Lightning Network. Is it a patented solution that has the ability to shut down miners?
