301  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero Speculation on: October 20, 2015, 05:39:16 PM
Again, we are drawing nearer to the quantum foam where we can't conceivably go lower. Currently I'm bearish on crypto, but if XMR's price goes low enough, then I will be unable to resist.

I personally wish for smaller values than 0.0014 but it's been at it for about 24h now and can't make it lower. I counted what? 3-4 bottoms with the current one? The way I see it we're oversold; but something holds me to buy more right now. Hope for a (short or long) BTC rally actually which (IMHO) is imminent. I might be wrong, but if this is the case, I'll have my chance for cheaper XMRs.

Anyway. It's been a nice ride down so far, let's see how it evolves from now on. Roll Eyes

CK evades this by not requiring every individual be part of it. CK is voluntary, so it can uphold laws that I consider impossible in outside world (where there is no easy way to opt-out). For instance a global transaction tax is a way of tracking every individual's every purchase. It is a diabolic idea for freedom in the world where people need to fight for their freedom or lose it.

CK is implementing a transaction tax, however! In the context where people are voluntarily in, and the ruler of the world wants good to them, and one can exit at any time and the goons are not coming after, it is allowed for a system to make such a tax.

What we can save by doing it, is to keep the labor tax and costs at 0, and sales tax at 0. So when you sell your labor as a medical practitioner (200k/AP) and buy gardening (50k/AP), you get 4 times as many hours. This is the area where outside world sucks the most in western jurisdictions - even if the gardener is in the free market, the medical practice must charge 3+ times the doctor salary.

Also all sales taxes are zero, and duty is levied only on silver, beer, wine and spirits. The transaction tax will be a very small amount per transaction, in the order of 0.0001 XMR or less.

Well, it seems like the perfect testbed towards a virtual "perfect world". I believe it's done once more but with the economic part of Valve's community and as a chief economist Yanis Varoufakis. Steam engine has about 200M active users IIRC. In any case,  I must find myself some more time to play CK! (yeah, that 25th hour on the day would've come handy right now) Tongue
303  Economy / Economics / Re: Economic Devastation on: October 20, 2015, 06:19:53 AM

RealBitcoin, this is a challenging question but I will add my thoughts.

To answer your question we must first examine the role of government and it's relationship to the base state of nature. This relationship was analyzed in depth by Thomas Hobbs in his book Leviathan.

In the state of nature, each person would have a right, or license, to everything in the world. There is no centralized authority and no external recourse against violence, coercion, or defection. This, Hobbes argued, leads to a "war of all against all"

Yep I analyzed the role of the state in society too. I dont really have a problem with social order that is created by the state, I have a problem wit the taxation system, the keynesian ponzi scheme financial system, and the corrupt bureocracy.

I think the best form of governance would be a Terran Federation, that would be subdivided into the continents, and it would not be nationality/race/tribe/religion based, it would be a unified culture. Also this global government would be direct democracy based, with real  transparency, given to us by the decentralized blockhain systems.

It can be a decentralized legislature, based with the current system, or it can be a balanced one with some other clever ideas.

I also think that this global government should not interfere in the market, nor it should have a tax system. Maybe a 1-2% transaction tax, imposed on every transacton, but other than that, nothing else.

Also it should not be keynesian, it has to be austrian school based with gold or bitcoin or whatever backing, so that there would never need to be a debt system that needs to be funded by taxes.

Most taxes go anyway to fund the debt based system, and with a global government, a 1-2% transaction tax, on every transaction is more than enough to sustain every public institution, and all other taxes can go directly into the trash can.

Nonprofit organization could reclaim the taxes at the end of the year.

It would be a really nice system.

These are some very good thoughts; but let me add a bit to them. How about a "dynamic democracy scheme"? One that each tax payer should (pledge to) pay for the laws to be voted or the changes he/she wants. This way no government should have the funds to ie: start a war, without the people's consent. Totalitarianism is based on the fact that a certain group of individuals have unlimited power to implement whatever they see fit (without anyone question them).

Introducing this ledger-based "taxing" system we may (as community) decide ie: if we want more police protection or not; more schools or not, etc. If the government doesn't get the funds, then another party should take the lead in order to implement what the people paid for. In this way we will be in a constant election system that delivers at any single time what the people's will is.

Maybe supervising is a prerequisite by a certain type of "authority" but they won't have to do anything concerning people's choice - just make sure that they're implemented since the people paid/decided for them.
304  Economy / Economics / Re: Economic Devastation on: October 19, 2015, 10:31:58 PM
Alright then, it can be a bottom- up organization too.
However these local communities must be tied into a network. Otherwise you end up again with citi-states and wars  and bigotry between eachother.
I mean some form of ties and collaboration must always occur.

If you want a free market, prosperity and world peace, the I think you have to eliminate tribalism. Because if you think about it every single mob/gang in human history was race based: italian mob, russian mob, latino mob, irish mob ,etc...

They were all segregated and felt hostile in a different enviroment, so they organized and formed crime organizations, as a process of leveraging the society in their favor.
A  "knowedge age" free global market has no way to defend against mobs or military defense, when a hostile bigot group attacks a certain sector.
So I start to belive that for a real free market , tribalism must be gone, because then gangs will be totaly eliminated ,and it can be a  real era of peace and prosperity.

All points are true. A nice proposition would've been the integration of blockchain as a means for "bonding" the voters to the government prerequisites before, let's say, the government take money from the people to do something. Let me explain further. Say you voted for Obama and he promised that he will liberate the health care system. You vote for him, backing him with your vote AND your part of the deal. Each vote will count for the specific amount of money that YOU and your fellow voters will back his plans towards delivering what he promised.

All the above -of course- is something that pops out of my head while I really need some sleep (have 4hrs before I must get up again). It's a nice conversation though, and delivers something more than the usual "whining" that "everything sucks".

Goodnight from Greece.
305  Economy / Economics / Re: Economic Devastation on: October 19, 2015, 09:59:01 PM
Ok I have a question, and please answer it with your best knowledge:
Is globalization necessary for this "Knowledge Age", and what is the benefit of 1 world government in terms of Freedom vs Civilization balance.
You have to admit that brutal tribalist genes work in humans, causing racism, hatred and discrimination for your fellow man. A globalised world will eliminate discrimination. However It can also be a little bit bad for personal freedom.
But do we need really absolute personal freedoms when the technology will be ultra big, and there will be plenty of resources for all?
Or do we shift toward a totalitarian system, where rationing will be the only resource distribution mechanism?
It can be a networked free market (drone mailing? drone product delivery?).
I am having a dilemma here, so please explain me the benefits and drawbacks of Globalization vs Local communities?

OK, let me try and give my best shot at what I *THINK* it would be best. Local communities are the primal cells of a healthy government. The great success with the Athenians of the gold century of Pericles was that they actually could speak and debate up close and personally with their leader. Personal contact is mandatory afaic the democratic control. This happens because the leader cannot do harm to the people that they look him in the eye (because tomorrow they will meet again!).

Globalization on the other hand, tends to leave the leaders to their absolute solitude and delivers the ability to perform whatever discrepancy they wish from what they might have suggested during their election campaigns. This way, they have nothing that keeps them from stealing for their own benefit, enforce certain politics that oppress the people, to name a few.

The best politics should have been a form of local globalization. This comes as a draft to my mind but I surely think that if we formed a global government that we could actually see and talk them (while everybody listens at the same time), will somehow prevent them from doing harm... or not. The tech is here anyway. Roll Eyes
306  Economy / Economics / Re: Economic Totalitarianism on: October 19, 2015, 05:55:21 AM

Mind control (or to put it better, mind-mapping and reproduction of specific behaviors) has been around for about half a decade now. The most significant thing that has to offer is the ability of disabled people to be able to control robotic arms/legs etc with their mind.

Link: http://www.technologyreview.com/featuredstory/528141/the-thought-experiment/

Neuron recording, though, has been around since the early 90s. Back then I was attending a class that (with the technology of the time) a professor of mine had managed to record the moves of his hand while writing on a piece of paper. Back then we absolutely had not even a glimpse what was about to follow.

The ability of altering a specific way of thinking, opposes to my "free will" beliefs; but on the other hand opens new horizons on remote learning or "implanting" knowledge inside a man's brains, in order to eliminate erratic behaviors like homophobia, nationalism or hostility against others.

Food for thought: Even if a murderer is successfully subjected to such a "therapy", is that making him a better person?
307  Economy / Economics / Re: Martin Armstrong Discussion on: October 18, 2015, 09:32:33 PM
Let me refrain myself from refuting the theories you posted on your blog (which I personally think are WAY off-scale-past-tense in 2015). It will add nothing to you, to point you to PhD papers written in the last decade that outperform (some of) your writings, because you probably will think that you've done PERFECT research about matters that you -even remotely- cannot understand.

So, I'll leave you be with your own point of view, whether I personally see it myopic, short sighted and extremely arteriosclerotic to name a few Greek words that describe your incapability to understand that it's not enough for a man to be smart to be able to understand EVERYTHING around him. It requires open mindedness and the ability to understand that every once in awhile, he actually might got something wrong.

Please go on with your life, I got a nice lesson from you, that actually a very bright mind can also be so short sighted. I wish you the best with your health issues, this is the last time I'm addressing you - as you wished.
308  Economy / Economics / Re: Economic Devastation on: October 18, 2015, 07:50:22 PM
Is everyone trolling or is it bad that things become cheaper??!  Embarrassed

Cheaper doesn't always mean that everyone will start buying... It could be used as a restart to the system, but I don't see it happening anytime soon (we're in this since September). FWIW: We're in the verge of several significant global changes and I don't think that "cheap oil" signifies a new circle of prosperity...
309  Economy / Economics / Re: Economic Devastation on: October 18, 2015, 06:58:32 PM
...

Iran's plan to sell more oil, as well as Saudi selling to Poland (to Russia's big customer, smile) and possible increased selling by Iraq all point to plenty of oil to take care of world demand.

That hints at deflation to me.

I just read in this weekend's Barron's that the US is cranking up its propane export infrastructure big time.  They expect to sell a lot to Asia.  And there is so much natural gas that could be exported (or used withing the USA) that I doubt that oil & gas prices will go much higher for sometime.

Exactly! Deflation on oil prices will continue, also as the commodities (since the economy doesn't seem to recover). It's a chain system! We either need to change the way things move, or we're doomed to live harder times. Oil prices do not have only transport uses; plastic, vinyl, chemicals... you name it! Everything (or nearly everything) is bonded!

One thing is for sure; we need to get this figured out quickly. This cannot go any longer. Undecided
310  Economy / Economics / Re: Martin Armstrong Discussion on: October 18, 2015, 06:50:10 PM
History does tend to show that mankind does not learn much from past mistakes.  Part of this (my guess) is that whatever one generation has "learned" from their own mistakes is forgotten or other unlearned by the next generations.  So my guess is that it's not different this time...
troller

I don't hold any high hopes for the collective either.  As Maggie said (my paraphrase), Socialism works just fine until it runs out of other people's money.

And, my guess here is that when the USA (Oz too?) runs out of "other people's money", that the reactions will be EPIC, lots of social unrest.

Unfortunately, collective mind is rather "the next" big revolution, and I cannot see it happening in our times. We're nowhere near to that. Our egos and selfishness grow bigger rather than decrease. We're debating on practically ANYTHING with the sense that WE are the best of all around, while at the bottom of it all we want to see and hear is our own words and opinion. The idea to evolve from one state to another, to make something differently, is to ACT differently.

For this, each man (and then the community) need to collectively act towards bigger, better things. Egoism and self flattering leads the society nowhere. We need to be compassionate, helpful, MODEST and act better than our ancestors; or we will have to repeat history as Martin Armstrong predicts. There are signs that we're moving to the right direction, but the remaining time is rather minimal.

I surely can hope that suda123 has it right; but I'm confident that we're way below what it takes.
311  Economy / Exchanges / Re: MtGox withdrawal delays [Gathering] on: October 18, 2015, 01:17:38 PM
1. Not everybody is a scammmer. Of course not. There are some honest people who are looking to earn some extra money for their living.
2. But we cannot close the eyes and  not seeing that over 80% from the BTC is used for illegal things(black market) and HYIPs(most of the Forex and Mining).
3. When you know these things, you should think twice before sending money to an exchanger. How can you send(entrust) money to an unlicensed company who is performing forex(financial transactions) like MT Gox was?

4. I see that the people didn't understand the lesson and they are keeping doing that with other similar exchangers(see BTC-e, Bitstamp and so on; they are not licensed). So, I cannot sympathize with these kind of persons.

1. Thank God, we cleared that out. Smiley

2. Is this based on some kind of proof, or you're just assuming? Besides, I know that BTC is used for Silkroad, BUT THEY GOT HIM! At the same time fiat is used for EVERY ILLEGAL ACTION A MAN CAN POSSIBLY THINK OF and those people never get caught! The way I see it, fiat is the perfectly anonymous money for illegal transactions!

3. First of, we didn't KNOW these things back then. Second, it was the biggest exchange with over 1M accounts (even allegedly) back then. So, you KNOW, when that happens first! After that, I'd call it "experience".

4. Wait. Let me get this straight. Do you mean you never got ANY lesson by trading fiat with stock exchanges? Do you mean that our banks are trustful and they assure you will get your money (that you have been saving for life) and then they enforce your elected government to declare "capital controls" where THEY TRAP your money (and your possessions in a bank-deposit box) without letting you get them out but only 120euros per week (Now 420. Yay!) ?

Yes; actually that did happen! I'll have to propose you a visit to Greece. Don't worry, as a tourist you won't have ANY problem with capital controls. You can withdraw any amount from ANY ATM that (at the same time) I cannot withdraw more than 420 per week (even if I have several thousands into my bank account). This is only for us, the Greeks...

And you call BTC a fraud?

I rest my case.
312  Economy / Economics / Re: Economic Devastation on: October 18, 2015, 12:00:21 PM
When the whole world seems stunned about the Oil price dump, here comes another critical factor to move the price even lower... It's funny while at the same time when every technologically advanced country in the world promotes electro-kinesis and renewable energies, how the previous status quo, begins to seem obsolete...

O tempora o mores...

I know this is old news, but @TPTB_need_war: PLEASE take the time to watch the video I'm attaching. At this moment, the ONLY one that has a voice of reason seems to be V. Putin and by no means I'm pro Russian. It's a 22m video which I advise everyone to watch; but in case you don't have the time (or the will), please take it fast to 18:00".

Make sure you understand FULLY what he says.

1. You invested and it went bad, so you have to move forward Smiley. You won't get any cent back.

2. This is Bitcoin; a so called niche market full of scammers and speculative trading. Why a people will ever put his money in BTC excepting for speculative trading or to buy shits? Because you want to make money overnight or the "dealer" does not accept traditional payments for obvious reasons .

3. Well, this has a risk and you lost this time. Smiley

4. You can buy normal things by using credit cards and you can invest in the Forex market by sending bank wires to real Forex companies not shits like Bitfinex, BTC-e and so on. BTW, what do you know about these ones? Any license for BTC-e? Smiley

1. The "invest" parameter is not equal to "entrust" to someone with something (BTC) that you take ONLY his word that you will get back when they see fit. I was against such a policy, but when you have an amount of coins that you mined and want to take something back for your effort, (and you don't) then this is theft and not "bad investment".

2. Correct! We're all scammers and thieves in here. What a noble man like you doing with scumbags like us?

3. I made my peace, it wasn't THAT much anyway.

4. Ah, you're THAT type of guy. How's that working for you with all the bear market since May? I know; you answered yourself in (3). Grin

Mark Karpeles spent 6,000,000 JPY ( 50 K USD ) for order made bed. Although not covered well by the media (http://motherboard.vice.com/tag/Mark+Karpeles), The bed was so special for BDSM play with Japanese prostitutes. I wonder if the bed has been sold via auction to convert their asset to money (or bitcoins).

That is your guess, right? He is married and has a child, IIRC.  Not that one thing excludes the other, but...

Apart from guesswork and assumptions, there's not much we can do at this point. The aftermath of the legal actions is yet to be revealed and it's now Mid-October. I presume the situation will continue until sometime in 2016 and frankly I begin to lose any hope that we will manage to get ANYTHING back. Maybe that's what they were after in the first place... Undecided
316  Economy / Economics / Re: Martin Armstrong Discussion on: October 16, 2015, 05:52:02 PM
AnonyMint predicted that we first go up to $350 (where we should sell) and then down to maybe $100 or double digits. This was his conclusion by assuming that BTC is a commodity-like asset, and follows a specific pattern that M.A. predicted; which is a thought that (in part) I also share. I don't know if the fundamentals of TA agree (I rarely follow TA, except maybe when it's very short term).

Again, this remains to be seen, so if I were you; I wouldn't rush and point fingers to anyone just yet.
317  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero Speculation on: October 15, 2015, 09:51:36 PM
I've already reached out to him on other threads and via PM. So far he hasn't been even remotely clear on what he has or how much he's willing to sell it for, so there's no way for us to know if it's something worth crowdfunding.

He claims no one in the XMR community is interested in what he has, but he needs to meet us somewhere in the middle. I personally think he has no interest in ever selling his information, which is why he's so reluctant to name a price.

Nicely put. In any case, I believe this time it's his turn. Either he wants to reveal what he has (ie: describe in detail what he has managed to solve / created) or we assume he has nothing at all. Simple as that. In any case if he has something usable and worthy from the XMR devteam, I repeat what I wrote in his "ion" thread; I'm willing to donate some of my XMR stash in order to buy his work if he's for real.

Let's see what he decides.
318  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: ion discussion on: October 15, 2015, 12:59:40 PM
they all know who I am. they know how to send me a private message if they are interested. Instead I am certain they will go try to invent it themselves. Monero apparently doesn't have significant funds to pay developers because they didn't sell any coins. Everything was mined. Any way, I was always willing to work for those who would pay me well. I've never received an offer to be well paid for my efforts in cryptoland.

We (the Monero community) certainly know who you are, but we don't know what you want. You say "enough money" but that doesn't give anyone even a ballpark expectation. We've already crowdfunded development work and other initiatives and could certainly attempt to raise money, but your vagueness implies your work can't ever be afforded.

If you don't think that's the case, then name your price and we'll see who contributes. I get that you don't want to show your hand, but if you're waiting for Smooth or Fluffypony to PM you and make you an offer, I wouldn't expect that to happen, because that's not really how decisions get made on this project. That doesn't mean you can't get what you want, however.

Aside from what people think about Anonymint, he's quite good at what he does. He's extremely intelligent, good coder and maybe what he claims to be true, actually really is. What I'd propose is that the XMR community to listen to what he has to offer; and if he proves that his work actually is real and could be integrated, I'd be happy myself to donate an amount of my XMRs to him in order to promote the new tech to it. The way I see it, it's a win-win situation.

@Anonymint: Under no circumstances, you could manage to fulfil what is required to deliver the coin by yourself (maybe yes, if you were healthy). You need the help of a team of talented coders in order to make it happen in a usable and quick way. The idea is brilliant; they know it; you know it. It took to you what? Six months to implement? What are the chances they cannot manage to do it by themselves? Maybe not in 6 months, but in 1y, 1.5y?

My point is that, you could claim a position in that team. Most of us there are the ones that we first involved with BTC in the early years. I'm sure the community will not leave you alone and we could certainly help crowdfunding an amount for your health issues. I know this is not what you might wanted for this stupefying project of yours, but you are facing an adiexodo here. We, as species managed to be here because we evolved. Evolution means the ability of one to adapt.

Do the right thing. Adapt.

I had to come back to post something very important. Seems Monero is attempting to duplicate my invention. I will be posting this on the Ion thread as well.

The brand new Ring Confidential Transactions for Monero appears to me to be broken:

https://www.reddit.com/r/Monero/comments/3oi16k/ring_ct_for_monero_a_work_in_progress_comments/cvzval5

There's only one thing that proves your excellence: To be imitated/copied. I'd be very glad if I were you. I might even join their efforts like a valuable advisor... Smiley

Edit: This is a serious advice. Your ideas may transform XMR to what you're trying to accomplish by your own.

If they offer enough money, they can receive my white paper. No one has contacted me.

I wouldn't expect it so fast. I just learned this from your post that they want to implement this feature; on the other hand, why don't you lay the first hand? Maybe they never heard of ion so far! Ask somebody from their dev-team and talk about your achievements. The post you typed on reddit is very minimal - how would they know if you're for real?

If I were you I'd propose a tit-for-tat deal. Maybe (just maybe) they will listen to you and offer you money to confront your health situation. I know some people there will certainly have open ears for your story.

I'd go for it! It's probably the best deal!
