I reckon it's best he remains unknown. Revealing himself could only lead to negative things I think. The press will hound and attack him straight away and constantly on all fronts.
322  Economy / Services / Re: WE PAY FOR SIGNATURE EVEN MORE. UP TO 0.0016 BTCs PER POST. WEEKLY PAYOUTS. on: June 01, 2014, 11:55:14 AM
I believe I was only paid for 14 posts at 0.0008 even though I did 40+ and had 9 posts that should've been carried over, but I'll wait until monday to see if Updown.bit clarifies what's happening.

Just read their stories on Reddit. It's kinda thrilling.

I suspect those are mostly fantasists.

I think faucets are really important for getting more and more people actually interested in (and actually using) Bitcoin. I know I began with using a faucet.

Before you have any kind of Bitcoins at all, it just sounds like internet play money that a bunch of nerds came up with and has some value but what does that even mean anyway.

Faucets still make it seem like internet play money the tiny amount you get. It's better just to start earning them other ways then it soon seems like real money and money that can grow over time. You get the excitement of the investment as well.

Maybe so. But you still can't say that faucets have a negative effect on Bitcoin.

Depends on your view. You might just think bitcoin is a waste of time after you've wasted all that time and energy for dust. I dont think they harm the economy but they're hardly a a highlight of it. People just need to be aware that theyre probably going to be wasting their time with them.

lets clear the FUD up

1. the bitcoin creator is a single entity, that has ben proven by the messages on the forum pre2012 and the emails to Gavin A
2. during the Dorian Nakamoto saga. the bitcoin creator made a forum post (not here) elsewhere to prove that dorian is not the creator, and the side effect, that the create is still alive, and able to use a computer, thus not in prison

research harder kids, your making yourselves look bad

What messages prove that he is a single entity and how do you know that was actually satoshi who made that post? I havent seen proof of either.

of course you have not seen proof. because you have not even researched into it. but goodluck with that

Care to enlighten me or point me in the right direction because you're the first person I've seen who says there's definite proof.
327  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2014-05-30] BitFury Raises $20 Million on: May 30, 2014, 06:13:45 PM
Didn't Richard Branson plow a load of money into a bitcoin company recently as well (or a vc he was involved with)?

Seems these venture capitalists are throwing sill money around lately.

I wish I could show off some of my offers, I deny most of them because they want insane amount of equality.

Good glad to see VC recognizing where the security of bitcoin is and supporting it. Without these companies bitpay, coinbase, and everything else would be worth $0.00

Equality? Equity?  Grin What are you running?
328  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Have you personally seen a bitcoin millionaire? on: May 30, 2014, 06:09:21 PM
Nobody currently hold one million Bitcoins. Anyway, I've met a Fiat millionaire, but not a Bitcoin millionaire. I think they'd want to stay hidden for security reasons.

I think they'll be living like average civilians, so they won't spend all of their wealth.

I thought Satoshi might have over a million? And everybody knows being a bitcoin millionaire means holding a million fiat value in coins. And why would a bitcoin millionaire what to stay hidden any more than a fiat millionaire?

Satoshi is alive and well. He posts on this board using a different identity.

I wonder if he does? That would be pretty cool to at least know he lurks or actual posts amongst us. Maybe theymos knows he has alt accounts  Cheesy.
331  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Have you personally seen a bitcoin millionaire? on: May 30, 2014, 05:36:41 PM
Smart millionaires keep their mouths shut and their purchases private. If I hear someone bragging about money, it is typically because they wish they were rich. IMHO.

Not all the time. Some people just overcompensate and think that money = success and they need to let everyone know how "successful" they are, but a lot of people also do brag about money they don't have for this exact reason.
332  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Have you personally seen a bitcoin millionaire? on: May 30, 2014, 05:18:06 PM
I've not seen a wild one but a few on TV  Cheesy. I suspect there are plenty of bitcoin millionaire on this actual forum though.

Seems these venture capitalists are throwing sill money around lately. I'm glad though because it shows others believe in the potential of the bitcoin economy. I often wonder how long itll take them to see a return on their investment though.
334  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Does Bitcoin Require Regulations? on: May 30, 2014, 04:32:36 PM
To be widely adopted by every schmo in the country that wants to buy a bag of peanuts with the cool new technology: regulation desired.

To be a tool for people to avoid the persecution of governments and the control of their subjects: regulation subversion necessary, mass adoption by the moral majority undesirable.
Bitcoin is a tool, do with it what you will. Remember, tools are always neutral - you bring the morality. You shouldn't let anyone tell you how to use your tools, you need only your own ethics.

Let truth be your authority, not authority your truth.

I like the saying every tool is a weapon if you hold it right.

The two week periods don't start when you sign up though. Have a read over this thread for a better understanding https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=495948.0
336  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Ok about activity and time logged in. on: May 30, 2014, 04:19:00 PM
The time logged in is active browsing time and activity is based on how many two week periods youve posted in. If you dont make a post in those periods you dont get the 14 points for them.
337  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: satoshi is either dead or in prison on: May 30, 2014, 04:11:24 PM
The only thing that makes me wonder if hes dead is the fact that he hasnt spent any of his coins. I just cant understand that.

I must admit that does make me wonder too. This community would go into meltdown if those coins ever moved. Can you imagine how many threads there would be and the excitement in trying to follow them?

I think its likely that someone smart enough to postulate something as intricate as Bitcoin will not have monetary issues. Satoshi is holding to teach us the true value of a Bitcoin. I find it unlikely that whoever created this technology, and perhaps knows it better than anyone, did not back up the private key for his address. It is very probable that Satoshi has several wallets, I mean he created the currency, he had to run the testnet and main-net on at-least two machines for the Blockchain to start, to think he has a single wallet would be silly. I bet if anything he is just digging into the wallets with smaller amounts of coins first, couple blocks of coins here or there.

You never know. You could be a genius but poor or not well paid, but he most certainly doesn't have momentary issues now, but this is a hell of a lot of money just sitting around unused. He could also use the money for good or use it to spread bitcoin even further.

And I think both ways will work together nicely. If you want to buck the government and go full anarchist then you can do so, but if you want to play good little citizen and pay your taxes to your leaders and get on with your life you can do that too  Cheesy.
339  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2014-05-27] BitPay Processing $1 Million Per Day in Bitcoin Payments on: May 30, 2014, 03:59:57 PM
Wont they have to make the figures public somewhere? I'm sure they can be found out easily enough.

If coinbase IPOs then yes they have to make it public, but they are private company so they don't have to make it public.

Can you buy shares in any of these payment processors yet? I think it'd be wise to invest in them. It's probably easier to make money off investing in bitcoin infrastructure at the moment.
340  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Does Bitcoin Require Regulations? on: May 30, 2014, 03:55:40 PM
The protocol itself can't be regulated unless the majority of users agree to it, so "no".  The only thing that can be regulated are the entry and exit points when you convert to and from fiat.

And that's exactly what will happen. No point trying to fight it really. May as well accept it of part of reality really.

Eventually even regulating exchanges won't matter.  More trades will just be done peer-to-peer and they can't regulate that.  If they can't stop p2p filesharing, it stands to reason they can't stop p2p money.

Exchanges weren't part of Bitcoin's design plan anyway.  They're just an unfortunate throwback to peoples' bizarre willingness to trust third parties with their money even though they don't actually need to, but that's another subject.

You can never expect to regulate everything 100%. You can do plenty of deals in cash that would never leave a papertrail or see govenments taking their cut. It's called money laundering, and they'll come after you if you try get around paying what you owe to them.
