3381  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: Decentralized Exchange Rubic hacked and losses $1m on: November 04, 2022, 12:21:05 PM
If something has nice and shiny DEX label, it doesn't mean it is really decentralized.
I never heard about this Rubic exchange, but it was never really decentralized and it's built on top of centralized blockchain that support censorship, so no surprise they got hacked so easily.
All of this so called ''bridges'' are operated and maintained by one or two guys with full control over everything, and security practices are usually very low.
3382  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: <FAKE>Clone Chipmixer Website on: November 04, 2022, 12:04:33 PM
Does anyone know how successful reporting to service providers usually is? I think I've heard of maybe one or two success stories in the past but it seems like most of these scammers pick service providers/registrars that don't really care.
It's more likely they will ban phishing and scam domains if they receive larger number of reports from people, or if some high profile institution makes a report.
This also depends on what server and domain provider they use, some have more strict and others more relaxed policy, but it's worth trying to report them.
Maybe bitcointalk community can somehow help to fight this scammers.

Fake CM website with .xyz domain is using nicenic.net provider, .online is using tucows.com, and .co is using namecheap.com.
3383  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: I might have found the first multi-chain app wallet on: November 04, 2022, 11:37:34 AM
After going some diggings I might have come across the first of its kind multi-chain wallet and why won't I bring that for my famz on here maybe I am missing out on something?
Airgap is not the only open source multichain wallet, and it is mostly used in combination with their Airgap vault app as cold storage, and free alternative for hardware wallets.
I know few other open source wallets that can be used, one is called Unstoppable.money and it can be used only on smartphones.
Second wallet is called AtomicDex, it can be used as a wallet and as exchange with atomic swaps, and this can be used both on computers and on smartphones.
Safest option is using Trezor Suite app in combination with Trezor hardware wallet, but this is not free option.
3384  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: <FAKE>Clone Chipmixer Website on: November 03, 2022, 08:46:17 PM
time to shoot it down? @Darkstar_
He can't shut down other websites like this... unless he has some secret ddos task force.  Cheesy
Reporting this to google or server providers doesn't guarantee anything will be shut down, and we know other fake CM websites exists for very long time.

Probably both .online and .one malicious clones should be added (blocked) in the hosts file, together with the .xyz:
This should work, but I would like to see someone creating uBlock filter would add and maintain all fake CM websites.
3385  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Access to Ledger Nano S (2018 version) without PIN and seed words? on: November 03, 2022, 07:52:53 PM
Is there any way to get access to the funds on Ledger Nano S (from year 2018) without the PIN code?
I also don't have the seed words.
How do you suppose to do that?
Seed words backup is mandatory to have, and it's even better if you have multiple copies in different locations.
If you don't have both PIN and seed words I can only consider you stole found this device from someone else, or you found it somewhere.

So the only way seems to be physically extracting the information from the chip.
Does anyone know a lab or someone who is able to extract the needed information from the chip?
You could in theory only extract encrypted stuff that means nothing to you and it can't be used for anything, unless Ledger and chip manufacturer have some backdoor access.
I wouldn't be surprised if they do have something like this, when everything is closed source and hush hush in their business.

The situation is complex. In short: the owner was running a badly structured business and died. The business partners are trying to recover their funds from the wallet. There is nothing criminal.
I understand this, but if he died he probably left some will and documents containing seed words and PIN, maybe even passphrase(s).
You can't hack hardware wallets so easy, or governments wouldn't pay millions to do it somehow.

3386  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: walletscrutiny: the majority of "wallets" are either custodial or closed source on: November 03, 2022, 07:40:57 PM
Thanks for continuing this project.
Good to see them coming back!
Many reviews are really outdated and I was starting to think they totally retired, but I understand why they did it.
It takes a lot of time to review wallets and monitor changes all the time, it's not simple task that is done once and than forgotten.
3387  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: Airgap Vault on desktops (specifically Linux) on: November 03, 2022, 07:27:42 PM
Now as far as I know, Linux doesn't have any of that by default. Windows & Mac don't have this stuff at all, so let's forget about them.
Linux has support for biometrics and encryption depending on desktop environment you are using.
I know that if you run Fedora linux with Gnome de you can add biometric fingerprint and use to instead password or for login, in Fedora KDE you can use it only instead of password, so it works.
During installation of Linux you can enable disk encryption so anything stored in this drive could be considered secure, if strong password is used.

How can we securely erase the working data while AirGap Wallet is exiting? Remember that filesystems don't overwrite files in-place so merely writing random data won't work.
I don't know exactly how Airgap vault is working, and I never managed to read their technical documentation, if they have it.
All I found is some basic documentation page, with lot of pages dedicated to various shitcoins, so maybe we need to hear more from their developers.
https://support.airgap.it/

Simple way for sort-off running Airgap vault on desktop computer is by using some kind of Android emulator, best I know are open source Waydroid, Anbox or Genymotion Desktop.
Windows has much more options for emulators, but many of them are full of adware crap.
3388  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: 3 questions about wallets and DEXs on: November 03, 2022, 07:17:52 PM
Not just any laptop, it would have to have at least 8GB of memory if it is running Windows and you ever plan on using it for miscellaneous stuff, because you need Bitcoin Core to run Bisq, and Core itself uses 2GB, and then Bisq consumes another 1GB at most. If neither of the above are true, then you might get away with 4GB of memory.
I am sure it can run just fine with even below 8GB of memory (I don't know anyone who runs less in 2022) because you are not keeping it open and running all the time,
but you can also reduce memory usage following instructions on their website.
Combine that with closing all other applications you are not using and shutting down other processes, you will be just fine.
However, it's always good to upgrade RAM and if you are running older laptop with DDR3 or DDR4, than used RAM is very cheap.

My old Raspberry power supply won't turn on anymore.. Experiments delayed.
RIP power supply?  Cry

3389  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Where to get large amount of tBTC? on: November 03, 2022, 06:02:03 PM
I do not plan on sending this to anyone else, I am not buying/selling tBTC and want it purely to experiment with it.
And how do you want to experiment exactly? Please explain.
Nobody is going to send you larger amount of bitcoin with childish explanation like that, and begging wont help also.
It's clear that you are only collecting and receiving testnet coins, and you didn't sent a single satoshi, that is not really called experimentation.
3390  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Privacy questions about ninjastic.space and loyce.club on: November 03, 2022, 05:47:37 PM
I have a simple question, if I mistakenly post data such as my personal address, private key or any data that I later want to hide, and I contact @ and he delete it, will both sites comply with this deletion?
I think this already happened before with someone exposing personal information and doxing people on purpose, or making death threats.
Post was deleted both on bitcointalk forum as well as on ninjastic.space and loyce.club website, but you never know if someone archived separately.
I am personally considering every information once posted on internet already compromised, this can include personal information, photos and verification documents.

Add to that, do they keep my IP address? It's easy to get to because I'll look up my posts.
They probably don't keep you IP and they don't need it, but cloudflare keeps it for sure, but you can always use Tor browser or vpn for browsing.
3391  Economy / Reputation / Re: Royse777 is Casino Critique on: November 03, 2022, 04:43:28 PM
He has started a signature campaign in a self-moderated thread. Logical I guess.
Yeah, he should probably make it non self-moderated so that JG can continue posting in that topic with all his alt accounts  Tongue
You can always check post archive and see how many posts got deleted.

I suppose much of the problem we have seen is due to relying heavily on forum income. That's why he didn't have a cooling-off period after Bitlucy.
I agree he should cool off, but what about main firestarter JG and his witch hunting?
He is intentionally creating conflict and doing constant bump of all topics related with him, he calls him a scammer, and trying to make situation worse.
You can't expect someone to cool off when other guy is jumping on his head all the time.

Do we know for a fact that Royse777 has money problems severe enough that he'd be tempted to steal $2000?
I think he paid from his pocket to anyone who was damaged in his casino fiasco project.
I wouldn't say he is good example of bounty manager, but I hope he learned a lesson.

No. I still wouldn't trust an escrow with money problems, but in this case, if the casino trusts Royse777, that should be enough. Campaign participants usually join anything they can, so they don't care about it either.
Is it a casino or a mixer?
Title say Sinbad Mixer, and I think I saw something about this mixer posted before in forum, I remember opening their website very slow last month.
3392  Local / Hrvatski (Croatian) / Re: Novosti on: November 03, 2022, 04:27:47 PM
3393  Local / Hrvatski (Croatian) / Re: SCAM upozorenja Zbirni topic on: November 03, 2022, 04:08:39 PM

3394  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Electrum for Android + Ledger on: November 02, 2022, 06:56:55 PM
Is it is it possible to use Ledger with Electrum for Android ?
No it's not possible, and for other wallets it depends what kind of ledger model you have, retired S, new S plus, or worst model ever X that have bluetooth connection.
I think that open source Blockstream Green wallet supports Ledger, Trezor and Jade hardware wallets, and it's not a bad alternative for Electrum, so you could test and see how it works for you.
Maybe there are other options, but I would personally avoid anything that is closed source.

Can Ledger Nano make use of QR code to sign PSBT?
I don't think ledger can do that (but I am not sure), and even if it could it probably wouldn't be compatible with Electrum QR code format.
3395  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Deribit exchange hacked for 28M $ on: November 02, 2022, 05:52:34 PM
I don't remember coming across this exchange before, but apparently, their hot wallets have been hacked today and 28 million dollars were lost.
It's not surprise to see another exchange getting hacked  Roll Eyes someone should make a very short list of exchanges that never got hacked, but I think this list would get shorter in time until it is gone.
Deribit is used mostly for futures trading, so either the hackers are so smart and they can do this easily (I really doubt in this), or this was some insider job and intentional work of some people to get rich quick.

Interesting statistics to check out for open interest bitcoin options, Deribit has a huge share:

3397  Economy / Reputation / Re: JollyGood and his devaluing attitude on: November 02, 2022, 04:48:23 PM
Well said. I've discussed his sent feedback a few times, but the result was he stopped trusting my judgement. So it seems like a waste of time now.
Maybe, but we should keep reminding everyone what JG is doing all the time.
Some people only look on good things he done in past, and ignoring this abuse and manipulations he is doing all the time.
He is calling other members a scammer without a single proof they scammed anyone, it's only in his imagination.

I can't find back the link, but didn't BPIP keep track of that back in the days (maybe before theymos added pagination to the feedback page)?
I can't remember how exactly this looked before, but I hoped you have some magical robotic skills to show this in same arranged table. Wink
Maybe someone could create a patch for this, it would be interesting to monitor this information for changes.

I noticed you and dkbit98 also mentioned them. It would be nice to hear from them. Why they think JollyGood is doing write thing and how don't they see the misuse he is spreading all over.
Yes I did mention them, and there are few of my good local board members on that list, so I will have to talk with them in private to reconsider their decision.
Easy recipe to get on JG blacklist and be ignored is to say something that he doesn't like, and in opposite situation you will be rewarded with merits from him.

3398  Economy / Reputation / Re: Royse777 is Casino Critique on: November 02, 2022, 04:30:17 PM
Before you jump the gun too quickly, you should remember that Casino Critique did not scam anyone so it is inaccurate to say that Royse777's association with it adversely affects his reputation.
Wait until his fire goes out, and let's talk about that later... after witches sin was purged and cleaned by flames.

3399  Other / Meta / Re: Please permaban this scumbag. on: November 02, 2022, 04:19:33 PM
What positive contribution does he make to the forum?
I didn't notice any positive forum contribution from him, only thing he got was personal financial benefits.
I never understood why member who was unbanned was so hard to ban again by moderators, but this happened several times before.
Let's not bring cases I reported before, but I remember showing all the proof of members doing multiple ban evasion, and admins never banned him/them.
In case of naim027, he should be banned with all of his altaccounts, and I am not saying this with any hate towards him, it's just time for him to move on with his design work in some other places.
3400  Other / Meta / Re: [POLL] Should there be a 🍀 BTC AIRDROP 🍀 to Bitcointalk Merit Sources on: November 02, 2022, 04:10:52 PM
This is not working position so I don't think this is a good idea. and minutes after theymos would implement this in action we would have big flood of new merit course applications.
I understand paying someone for being active moderator, responding to all reports, deleting stuff, movinng posts, etc. but forum would not function without mods.
Everything can work perfectly fine without infamous merit sources.

Yeah and at that point, the entire DT system would be fucked as well (I know there are people who already think that it's broken, but trust me: You haven't seen the worst yet. But let's keep it that way for our own sanity's sake.)
DT system is arguably already fucked up and broken  thanks to JG and other members like him, but paying to merit sources would be the final nail in DT system coffin.
