2442  Other / Meta / Re: Whats Goingon On Bitcointalk forum? on: February 27, 2023, 02:28:33 PM
I just got scammed by OP (Thread starter), and i post my reviews on thread and my review post has been deleted two times,
I am avoid to say it but having doubts on Moderators, I don't care about my scam money, but its help to avoid other peoples get scammed, So I hope this issue will be resolved with better way..
It's better to create new topic in Scam Accusations section, and provide more evidence there especially since you are a newbie in forum.

PS
I don't think it's a good idea to use your gmail account as a username in bitcointalk forum.
If I was in your place I would contact moderators and asked for username change, that is if you care about privacy at all, and if you don't want to receive bunch of emails from scammers and hackers.
2443  Other / Meta / Re: Can we have a true discussion without the sig tail wailing? on: February 27, 2023, 02:21:36 PM
Guess the title says it, can we have a true talk without it for the sake of it about Bitcoin? Not like you're paid to say something.
Sure. we can do that.
There is board in forum called Serious discussion that doesn't allow signature advertisement, and for even more serious discussion without any kind of advertising or junk posts there is Ivory Tower sub-board.
Second option you have is to create self-moderated topic, you are moderator and you can allow only discussion without advertisement, deleting anything you consider spam.
You can also have a discussion in Off-topic section, but there are other type of problems in that board.
2444  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: My first pizza purchase using Bitcoin in lightning network on: February 25, 2023, 09:52:50 PM
So I ordered a pizza with black olive topping, it's cost for $6 or 25,740 Satoshis. When I have pay it, they're quite shocking because the fee is very very low. After that, they saying they have a plan to accept Bitcoin in lightning network payment because it will help the customer to not get charged for higher fees and they do get the same benefit too.
Topic title is saying that Lightning Network was used for purchase but from your post it looks like you paid with Bitcoin mainnet.
Lightning Network can be a bit confusing for newbies with all different custodial wallets, now we have Blue wallet temporary removing Lightning Network (temporary).
Maybe you can clarify this and tell us what wallet you used for sending this payment.

Have you ever bought a pizza using Bitcoin in lightning network? Wink
Nope, but I use BTC to buy other things.
2445  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Ledger Nano hardware wallet Phishing email about KYC out there on: February 25, 2023, 09:38:27 PM
Issues with using outdated firmware that can no longer be updated can happen. And problems with the hardware devices not working properly can happen as well.
For example, Trezor One Won't Take Firmware Updates.
Dude, how are you managing to write so much posts in one single day? Your 21 today posts are literally everywhere in forum Cheesy

Apparently this outdate firmware issue can happen in Trezor,, but you should also consider that Trezor Model One is first and oldest hardware wallet in the world.
I am not defending them in any way for this, but there are probably some changes on hardware level that are not allowing firmware update.
This is one more reason I wouldn't buy Trezor One or Ledger S now, even if they are both very cheap.
2446  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Hardware wallet company and seed phrase question on: February 25, 2023, 09:14:44 PM
Now the company that I bought the hardware wallet from gets nuked in a war and is gone forever.
If nuke falls on company...  Roll Eyes
This probably means their servers will go down and you won't be able to send transactions with their official app, but I don't think anyone will care about that in nuclear war scenario.
In all other cases when company servers are not working, you can always use your generated seed words and import them in any other supported wallet, preferably hardware wallet.
Most hardware wallets use BIP39 seed words and that works with almost all wallets (software and hardware), so only difference could be derivation paths.

2447  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: "Bitcoin’s Future Hinges on Donations, and That’s Got People Worried" on: February 25, 2023, 08:53:33 PM
Is Bitcoin development being dependent on funding from crypto-businesses a potential threat? What's the worst that could happen if the funding dries up and there are only a handful of dedicated devs dedicating only their spare time? Will Bitcoin survive?
Even in worst case scenario if all current developers stop updating code Bitcoin would not suddenly die and stop working.
Everything is working fine now, with only small bugs being corrected from time to time, but there are volunteers helping all the time.
Bitcoin will survive and thrive, and much bigger danger is that some malicious developers try to harm Bitcoin from the inside.

I think the $150-$200 mil/year to maintain the entire ecosystem is likely exaggerated, but what's the minimum level of funding, if any?
It's not realistic to count anything in dollars or any other fiat currency because of constant inflation going up.
I think developers are mostly receiving payments in Bitcoin.
2448  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: have found my wallet from 2014 on: February 25, 2023, 08:42:56 PM
but don't remember password of the wallet , tried EVERYTHING.
so these btc will be there forever now ?
Did you by any chance wrote your password anywhere, either in digital form or on paper, and do you have private key?
If you didn't do that it's going to be hard to recover your coins, but you can always hire someone to bruteforce and crack that password, especially if it was not strong and with many characters.
In many cases weak passwords can be cracked instantly or in few hours, so I wouldn't say your coins are lost forever.
2449  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: No debits from the ledger possible. Who can help? on: February 25, 2023, 08:30:43 PM
Should I rather get another hardware wallet and try to get my inventory over there?
What is your exact model of ledger hardware wallet?
Old and retired model S is slower than newer models, but I don't think this change would speed anything in your case, and your computer hardware and processor is more than enough.
Maybe hardware wallet devices with faster processors will have less issues with many transactions, but this is just my speculation.

it's not faster yet. I'll get a new hardware wallet on Tuesday, then I'll try to get everything over and will then reset the ledger.
Did you choose any other manufacturer for hardware wallet?
I would suggest getting something that is open source, and if you are only dealing with Bitcoin than Passport by Foundation could be good option.
As for other hardware wallets, I never heard someone had problems with mining rewards, but you can check the list I made for open source wallets available today:
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5288971.0

EDIT:
I did some research about Trezor hardware wallets, and they are saying that Trezor is not designed as a mining rewards wallet because of high  number of transactions,
so they are suggesting costumers to compile more transactions to one and then deposit to Trezor wallet.
2450  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: ✅💳Get A Anonymous Crypto Debit Card | KYC-FREE - CoinPayCard.net 💳✅ on: February 25, 2023, 08:11:07 PM
Almost 7 days ago, I deposited around $800 and loaded it to my card, they deducted they card fee, loading fee and the balance never appeared in my card. Been trying to contact them but they never replied. On chat, only replied once and said give 5 minutes and then vanished.
Please create a scam accusation topic and flag against them and provide some evidence how much money they stole from you, and how you tried to contact them.
It's not that I don't trust your word but it's always good to have valid arguments, and maybe we can track their bitcoin address and follow where the money goes.
I already gave them negative feedback, but since they are not coming back for days, it's better to have red flag on their profile.
Also watch out for any new service like CoinPayCard that could pop up in next few weeks.
2451  Local / Hrvatski (Croatian) / Re: [VELIKA LISTA] Hardverski novčanici (80+) on: February 24, 2023, 09:11:41 PM

2452  Economy / Reputation / Re: 'Bitcointalk forum is going downhill because of dkbit98' - CoinPayCard.net on: February 24, 2023, 08:55:54 PM
Its an mobile application which allows to create virtual cards and they location is same as CoinPayCard's billing address
I tried clicking on links posted to download this PayDay app but it doesn't work for me, and I can't finds this aps anywhere.
On their twitter account Payday is saying they are Virtual Mastercards and Visa cards for Africans, specific country is Nigeria.
If address is same as for CoinPayCard than there must be some connection.

Could they be using this to generate cards? If so what could be the reason they failed to get this going (if it wasn't all about running off)
I don't understand what you are trying to say.
They are obviously gone from forum, telegram and ''cards'' currently don't work like they should.

For creating Scam accusation and flag against them you need to create your own topic with proof/images how much money you lost, and conversation with support.
2453  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Using Nostr to facilitate a Mobile friendly Bitcoin/Fiat Decentralized Exchange on: February 24, 2023, 06:08:16 PM
Sadly, I think a CBDC would probably be helpful for situations like this.  As is, you'd seemingly need some sort of USD stable coin in order to do a trade like this without trusting a 3rd party.
No, CBDC is a scam and nobody should accept that slave fake coupon-like money!
Just research what shitshow they created in Nigeria with eNaira, and it would be 1000 times worse in any western countries.

Fiat is still transferred out of band. So is Bitcoin tho however. If you are familiar with Robosat, the platform doesn't really touch the payment, it just relays information between the Maker and Taker.
Yes I am familiar with Robosat that uses Lightning Network, but what's the difference and advantage between your proposal compared to using Robosats?
Can mainnet Bitcoin be used with your proposal or it's only LN Bitcoin?

Its meant to be an open protocol that anyone can implement. Just like Nostr, someone made the Damus iOS client. And then someone else made the Amerthyst Android client, amongst many other web clients.
Ok, I understand now.
I am not an expert or developer, but I will take a look and try to spread the word about this.
We certainly need more real DEX options for trading BTC, that are easy to use and can work on all devices, including mobile phones.

2454  Economy / Reputation / Re: 'Bitcointalk forum is going downhill because of dkbit98' - CoinPayCard.net on: February 24, 2023, 05:56:50 PM
I tried to contact him through live chat on the website, asking a banal question, and pretending to be a future customer and I got a reply in a normal time period, around 3 min.
it seems that it is still accepting new users while ignoring the existing ones and keeping their money. I would say an obvious exit scam.
Oh you are lucky if you received any reply from him  Tongue
I tried contacting them several times in different times of the day but without success, and I can still register and send coins for new ''invisible''cards.
If they don't show up in forum and refund money to their customers, I will have to give them negative feedback and damaged customer should create a flag against them.

even if there is a bug, they should inform all existing users and temporarily stop the registration of new ones, because their system does not work.
I'm not sure I can say sorry for someone's loss here, especially not for the more experienced members.
They don't have to do it in forum first, but they have so much options like twitter, telegram and website, but there is no word from them.
2455  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Ledger Nano hardware wallet Phishing email about KYC out there on: February 24, 2023, 05:14:31 PM
wait, does this mean that Ledger wallets with firmware 1.3 or older become useless junk?
Shouldn't they be obliged to make available all the changes and updates so far?
This is how ledger operates, and I never heard that any electronic devices can get broken if you don't update firmware in time.
Imagine you purchase a smartphone or laptop and if you don't update on time you can't use it anymore.  Cheesy
I think Ledger is slowly preparing their customers to permanently stop updating Ledger model S.

2456  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Using Nostr to facilitate a Mobile friendly Bitcoin/Fiat Decentralized Exchange on: February 24, 2023, 05:05:16 PM
I have been thinking about for a while, how we can have something like Bisq, but on mobile. The P2P nature of Bisq makes it really difficult to run in a mobile environment. I have engaged with the Bisq 2 team and there's little to nothing that would improve this situation any time soon.
I was hoping something would change after Bisq 2.0 get released, but your post crush my last hope.
Only way would be using some remote software to control Bisq that ins installed on your computer, but that is not the same thing.

On the other hand, Nostr have been developing extremely rapidly the past 6 months, and recently the Damus iOS client have increased the adoption of Nostr drastically. I was thinking if a similar architecture can be used for a Bitcoin/Fiat DEX.
It's interesting idea and Nostr could be used since for this purpose especially after recent popularity in public, but I don't understand how you would exchange fiat currencies with Bitcoin.

I haven't got everything figured out yet, especially on how to strengthen plausible deniability on the part of Nostr relay runners. But I did write an initial proposal on Github. Would love to get some feedback before I actually try to build an iOS client that actually implements the protocol proposed! Thanks!
Can this work on Android devices or only for iOS devices?
2457  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: Ballet wallets on: February 23, 2023, 11:13:44 PM
No it's wrong, if you buy the PRO version, it's totally safe because they will only generate the encrypted private key from the BIP38 intermediate code you will generate with your passphrase and your own entropy before sending it to them. So they will never know your passphrase and won't be able to find it in any way. https://www.balletcrypto.org
No, it's not wrong because I was not talking about ''PRO'' version that is much more expensive $299, compared to normal Ballet that starts from $35... that is almost nine times more expensive!
I certainly don't think this is worth so much, and I still don't consider addition of passphrase safe enough to call Ballet a real hardware wallet.
In fact they don't even call it a hardware wallet on their website, they just say ''Cryptocurrency wallet'' or ''Cold Storage Crypto wallet''.
You can't change or add new addresses,so this is just glorified paper-like wallet, that can only serve as cool collectible for me.
2458  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: Securing Your Seed Phrase with Washers on: February 23, 2023, 10:57:28 PM
I don't think anyone throws out copper, it's worth €6.50/kg! In fact, copper theft is a serious problem. So if you have old pipes, sell it, and buy washers Cheesy
There are recycling centers all around the world that buys used metal materials, but beware that there are many different type of copper.
It is more expensive than stainless steel so it must be better for something, maybe not for backing up bitcoin seed phrase but for something else.
One example how price of copper increased a lot, on Jameson Lopp review website Safe Seed copper plate was $16 (one of the cheapest at that time), and few years later price is $28... nice inflation.

They do! You'd be surprised by the amount of waste of construction sites.
People throw out everything Cheesy
I know people who found perfectly working good quality laptops in garbage, or they had some small error.
2459  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: [Tutorial] BlueWallet - Bitcoin Wallet Discussion on: February 23, 2023, 10:44:36 PM
Now I'm down to only using Phoenix Wallet for LN transactions.
Have you tried any other wallets (except Blue Wallet)?

that is really too bad. i have never used blue wallet until now - my favorite is still the zeus wallet
It's not that bad because Lightning in Blue Wallet was custodial with LndHub, and they are working on non-custodial lightning use, that will come back in future.
Electrum desktop wallet can also be used for LN, but I don't think they have that option in mobile Electrum wallet.
There is one interesting chart from BitPay showing what are the most used LN wallets, Wallet of Satoshi, Muun and CashApp have much bigger share than Blue Wallet.

2460  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Why confidential TXs are not implemented in Bitcoin? on: February 23, 2023, 09:57:38 PM
Recently, it turned out that Taproot can be used for NFTs, and it is side-effect that was never planned. For that reason, any feature that could have undesired side-effects, will take a long time to introduce. And confidential transactions is one of those features.
I really didn't expect this circus with ordinals and posting stupid rock images on Bitcoin blockchain... now they even have dex exchanges for trading this stuff, result is that 1 sat is not 1 sat anymore.  Tongue
Can you guess what would be the worst case scenario in case if confidential transactions get introduced after soft-fork in Bitcoin?
I am sure there would be much higher transaction fees, and blockchain size would increase a lot, but I am asking for other things that could happen.
Sidechains and second layer solutions can be good for privacy, but I would prefer if Bitcoin introduced privacy on mainnet years ago.
