341  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: WTF - Kiddy Porn in the Blockchain for life? on: May 10, 2013, 01:53:58 PM
Thanks for clearing that up.I think it's time to finish earning BTC (by working or selling things off),then cashout for good and delete all my BTC clients/accounts to stay out of trouble then.
Do that.
Since CP is viewed as pictures & videos, throw all the cameras you have for taking pictures & videos.
Also throw all the money you made so far using pictures & videos, coz the money you got from being "Professional filmmaker" is somewhat related to CP.
Also you have to kill yourself, coz you have the nickname "film2240", it has the word film, which can be used to capture images or videos of CP.

Look I apologise if my response seemed offensive in anyway but I'm anxious to clarify my position.I was only anxious earlier because of lack of full information on this subject. It's understandable to have anxiety with things you don't fully understand at first. The thing is yes I'm not happy with certain aspects with BTC but the same can be said about certain tools/methods used in the filmmaking world either but sometimes I'm forced to tolerate those short comings simply because it's not feasible to make them 100%.Whether I like it or not CP will continue to exist in other forms.

With most other things like camera equipment,images/videos,money and my nickname film2240,I can still conciously choose not to have any involvement with CP (never had, never will) even though these pieces of equipment can sometimes be used for nefarious purposes by others. All things have a certain level of risk in life and trying to eliminate risk altogether will only complicate things further.

The whole idea of leaving BTC altogether is simply fallout from living in a country with difficult laws regarding unwitting distributing CP (UK),If it's clear that this whole thing is just codes, that don't even direct or show CP,then there's no need to stop using BTC and I can continue business as usual Smiley
342  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: WTF - Kiddy Porn in the Blockchain for life? on: May 10, 2013, 01:38:49 PM
This is the kind of crap that makes me want to stop using BTC altogether in case I get arrested for unwittingly distributing offensive content under UK laws (I don't wish to get jailed for using BTC just because some idiot decided to post CP messages in the blockchain). The only thing I like about BTC is the easy way of sending money to and from other people (using only an address rather than typing in IBANS,card details, giving my address, etc with normal banks)

If this is true (and not just a rumour) then I'll have to stop using BTC in UK which is a shame.

I have questions about this:
Does the code actually load the offensive sites?
If this code can load these sites, how could the developers fail to see this happening and apply appropriate measures to remedy this issue?
How is it possible to post messages in the blockchain as I'm rather confused as to how this can work?

From what i've heard, all they put in the blockchain were URLs; and i'm not even sure if they are in plaintext.

The fact that it's URLs means that I can get arrested for unwittingly distributing or relaying CP content simply because of what some person thought was funny to put in there.Whether it's plain text or not,it'll still be enough to get me in trouble if I continue to use BTC simply because of the CP message in the blockchain.

Thanks for clearing that up.I think it's time to finish earning BTC (by working or selling things off),then cashout for good and delete all my BTC clients/accounts to stay out of trouble then.

344  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: New CPUonly and NvidiaOnly coins on: May 06, 2013, 01:35:25 PM
1. There is one in the making for that

2. I'm not sure if it is possible, I tend to think it isn't, but

as for both points - and do not take this personally as it is just a general statement - it seems to me that people have forgotten what cryptocoins are all about.  They are only partly about mining.

Coins are not FOR the miners, as such, they are intended as a currency, a medium of exchange. Sure, we can have a coin that's only minable for a set amount of people, but that itself brings nothing to the table. Any coin solely designed around that is destined to fail unless it brings something to new to the table and/or people behind it manage to push it in a clever way and it achieves widespread adoption.

The only thing that puts value behind them in the long run is its usefulness as a currency.
So yes, we can have all sorts of special coins, as experiments, i'm not agains that, but their value will be highly speculative and will fade into obscurity within weeks.

Nicely summed up Managlica. This builds up on some of my points Smiley
345  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: New CPUonly and NvidiaOnly coins on: May 06, 2013, 01:25:28 PM
For your CPU only idea, your best best is Scrypt even though it's been shown to be possible to mine on a GPU (maybe there's a CPU version of it,I just don't know)

As for your Nvidia only coin idea-you'll need to make your miners require CUDA (Nvidia only, can't run on Radeons) rather than use OpenCL (both Nvidia and Radeons) for the CUDA only coin.

After you sort out these two obstacles, you need to be able to show the merits of your idea so that a wider audience will be convinced that your ideas have merit rather than some experiment that'll be shortlived (like SLC,Tenebrix,Ixcoin, etc).Your ideas also need to be something that people will be happy to actually use to trade for things.Making coins for the sake of mining won't exactly be valuable (due to limited uses).

I'd like to see how this develops Smiley
346  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: What tempature do you run your GPU's on: May 03, 2013, 10:34:13 PM
Back when I was in my own flat (before having to move back) I aimed to run my GPU at around 80C as the fans were just ineffective at their job (the whole flat was boiling from all that heat so there was no fresh air coming in to cool that PC).This ran 24/7 for several months like this as well.

HD6950 would crash at 85C due to unlocked shaders being unstable whereas running with stock shaders with same overclock settings at same temperature, kept running.

347  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Are VMs adequate for cold/cool wallets? on: May 03, 2013, 10:27:02 PM
Only if you completely disable any form of internet access to that VM first otherwise viruses/hackers can still find a way in,especially without anti-virus or a firewall.

348  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Do NOT declare that you have ever owned bitcoins on: May 03, 2013, 10:25:31 PM
There are a lot of threads about taxation and FinCEN regulation on this forum. Now you can pay taxes, register yourself as Money Service Business (MSB) and sleep well, but... The state won't stop and will continue to strangle Bitcoin. One day it will make Bitcoin illegal.

Now the state collects data who uses Bitcoin, so in the future (when Bitcoin becomes illegal) they'll pay very close attention to those who declared that they "touched" bitcoins. It's a well known trick:
1. Pretend you are just going to regulate something.
2. Collect data about users.
3. Make it illegal.
4. Spy the users.
5. Prosecute those who violate the law.

Keep this in mind...

Wouldn't spying on users come 3rd? Seeing how making it illegal would stop their constant source of usage patterns, etc.Banning it comes 4th I think as, they'll have enough info to chase after all the users after snooping on them all first (after collecting that info before hand).
349  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Good Representation of Typical Bitcoin Hater on: May 03, 2013, 10:21:06 PM
I watched the whole video and I'm not sure what to make of it to be honest. Yes he clearly has issues with bitcoins but did he have to be so confrontational about it? I mean the bit where he talks about 'some mafia guy' running bitcoin was just stupid,as Bitcoins as far as I can understand is it's decentralised (the very opposite of his mafia, centralised claim) and it relies on P2P tech to keep things running (the miners do the work actually).

I would however not commit all my money into BTC due to the great volatility though so I think his point about asking whether or not having a gold bar or a bitcoin kinda makes sense (but in a misguided way).

Personally my finances are divided up as such (for my current situation):
1.Bitcoins should never be seen as a place to put your savings (Stick to UK FCA regulated banks for this)
2.Bitcoins should be seen as an investment item (as I find this easier to bet on hte value without having to do all that paper work at the banks)
3.Store most of my money in my main account (to pay for everyday living costs)
4.Keep a portion of my money in a 2nd bank account for high risk stuff on the net (such as BTC and selling stuff online)
5.Keep any savings in a tax free ISA account (as interest rates tend to be better)
6.Carry as little cash as possible in person as I have an NFC enabled debit card (plus I'd rather wait 2 seconds rather than a minute for cash to buy something like a cup of coffee)
7.Never buy precious metals (since I don't have a safe place to store it anywhere)
8.Never rely on the internet to produce more than 10% of total income (as I still need to work hard at a conventional job to keep afloat plus the added buffer factor helps too)

Most of my funds however are stored in GBP (or fiat)
350  Economy / Speculation / Re: BTC will go down to 20 on: May 03, 2013, 06:52:51 PM
It's starting to look that way.BTC is really starting to drop.I wonder if it'll follow another cycle where the value gets really low (£1.78 GBP per BTC like I saw once) before steadily rising again for a while before peaking like it did a short while ago?
351  Economy / Goods / Re: [WTS] [UK] Nokia N900 Extended battery on: May 03, 2013, 06:30:07 PM
Though it was time to bump and show people that I'm still open to people who have a Nokia N900 but want it to last longer before charging it. Just out of curiousity, who here still has a Nokia N900? As my phone was upgraded to a Samsumg Galaxy S3 LTE (UK) since last october.

352  Economy / Services / Re: Girlfriend and I willing to produce personal picture sets or videos for btc on: May 03, 2013, 06:26:59 PM
My girlfriend and I are college age students looking to make a little bit of spare money and store a little bit in this system we both believe in.

But putting our faith in a decentralized system of currency aside, we still are looking for a way to make bills a little less daunting while finishing school.

We're both very sexually open, we think sex and sharing it is a thing to be celebrated, not fucking blurred because the dark part of your titty is showing.

What I propose is a 1:1 trade until we both establish a mutually trustworthy arrangement.

i.e. She and I will take your requests, picture or video, and send 1/x for 1/x of payment, so say you want a set of her licking something off a food items and there are 50 pictures and the agreed upon price is 1 bc, then every picture we send, you'll send 0.02 btc.

And we can continue this way until we both feel comfortable doing larger trades if our interests align and we decide to keep trading in the future.

She : 5'2", brunnette, 130 lbs, 32C, size 3 waist
Me: 6'0", brown hair, 200 lbs, 6", 34 waist

We are both 21, me being the oldest and turning 22 in the near months

We have played with this idea before, but she is more held back about her face showing up on the internet, but I have assured her that any bitcoin supporter is going to be the most discrete internet user we can find.

So in summary, we are up for many, many things, price can be negotiated depending on degree of what "thing" you want of us, or just her, or just me, we're not agaisnt single shows.

So just leave a comment or send me a message if you would prefer to keep it discreete.

If stats seem falsified, we can discuss in our negotiations on how to verify to we are not some 15 year old kid creating some grandiose story with some pictures from google.

I saw this and I'd have to say, that's a pretty good business model as the price per pic is low enough to attract further business.I'm interested in seeing how this turns out.I also agree that a little more maturity when it comes to these matters is important as it benefits everyone Smiley

357  Economy / Goods / [WTS] [UK] Nokia N900 Extended battery on: May 02, 2013, 04:23:43 PM
I'm looking to sell off the extended battery I have for the Nokia N900 smartphone as I'm aware that some people have still held on to theirs and I thought that since I no longer have that phone,it'd be nice to sell it to someone who still has it.

I'm selling through BitMit to make life easier (as all buyers have escrow built in by default).I'm only selling to UK based buyers to keep shipping fees low.
I'm selling it here: https://www.bitmit.net/en/item/29709-nokia-n900-extended-battery

P.S.If the forum has a policy saying it's not ok to post BitMit links here,I'll be happy to comply with this.

Enjoy Smiley
358  Economy / Services / Re: [WTS] Rent my signature for 0.15BTC a month. on: May 02, 2013, 03:01:04 PM
How about a spot in a film?

Film credits can be bought from me in my sig.If you want a spot in the film credits to my upcoming film, feel free to buy from my sig link (Want to be famous one). Smiley

Update-the price of my sig has been dropped to 0.1BTC as 0.15BTC seemed a little high Smiley

360  Bitcoin / Hardware / Looking for an ASIC solution on: April 27, 2013, 10:42:12 PM
I'm looking for an ASIC solution that meets these requirements:
1.Must be available or have a short queue (not like BFL who quoted me 3 months from US to UK)
2.Must have actual existing products (not pre-order)
3.Must be able to buy it or use it today (or soon)
4.Must be reasonably priced (budgets can either be under $300 or no more than €1200 for the products in question-I'll sort out budgeting later once solutions are found)
5.Must be able to deliver promised returns (hashpower and BTC mined daily)
6.Must be plug and play,no setup/DIY kits involved.Anything that requires anything more than plug, play, install supplied software (must be GUI) and mine will fail this criteria.
7.Power consumption must be reasonable for the hash power provided for each respective type of ASIC.

I'm looking for someone who can post examples of ASICs that meet my requirements.Any help would be appreciated. Thanks Smiley
