edit: dont want to make Nxt look bad, but constructively point out "weak" points. i dont even talk about the whole "50ppl own everything and sell it for so much higher than what they paid for" thing Tongue

It's called being a stakeholder. We showed faith in BCNext and put our BTC at risk when nobody else did. Why would we take such a risk if we didn't expect a return? We helped fund this little project.

as i said, i wont go into detail about this particular topic.. if you think this is not a problem for ppl, post it in the OP Wink

im trying out the client because im interested how it works etc. and if i find something that seems "flawed" i talk about it.

I don't have a problem with the early adopters on this forum having thousands of bitcoins either. They took a much bigger risk than us that came later. BCNext could've just ran away with the 21 BTC that was donated.. non of us had any clue, it was very risky.. but we thought it sounded interesting and bought a lottery ticket.

I haven't sold a single NXT yet so I could still end up with nothing. Smiley

this is a totally different thing, as BTC can be mined no mather how much you own.
A miner is a believer - if you believe it is worth mining a coin you have to pay! Regardless if you already have coins or not (in PoW).

So if you really believe in Nxt pay $5-10K to buy them - that is what you have to pay for the best ASIC.

And instead of stupid pre-orders you actually get the coins + mining.

I see this as a HUGE improvement in fairness...

In time funds will be distributed more so it is not a big issue imho..
3403  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Nxt :: descendant of Bitcoin - Updated Information on: November 27, 2013, 04:55:56 PM
What is the progress on the guy who said he will setup a centralised Nxt/BTC exchange?
Coming up slightly slower than expected but surely.
Expect trading to commence if not tonight then Thursday afternoon GMT.

That is great! Keep up the good work  Grin

So what about the 100M nxt non claimed early adopters coins account? I see it mining like mad..

says i can generate next block in 1 day 5 hours?? this has been running for 2 days already?

do you have to keep your pc switched on or not?

how can i have the same amount of coins for 2 days, it is stuck at 70000 for 2 days something is not right with it,

In the my transactions what indicates the confirms??

this is not mining, how to tell if it is even doing anything?

The timer is changed after each new block.

Hover cursor over "10+" to get exact number of confirms.

Look at Recent blocks to see if it's mining.

says over 2000 confirms, and blocks are coming in ...block 2356 now.

So is it mining?  and also if i had 70000 2 days ago should i have mined something by now?

The pc did shut down for a while, does it not mine if the pc is closed?

i thought i was 24 hours after getting first coins you could mine but 2 days later it is saying have to wait another 2 days 12 hours before i can generate the next block?

The more Nxt you have, the more you are "allowed" to mine. so if you dont have much you can only generate a block every few days. for me it says 17k days or something, i guess no mining then Tongue

This is a serious weakness that Nxt needs to overcome.

The wealth needs to be distributed more evenly, otherwise only a couple individuals mine all the blocks, which means that they can 51% attack the network whenever they want.  Yes, 51% attacks apply to POS as well as POW.

Could someone send me a few million Nxt to help even things out?

6247993745714329290

Thanks!

Lol nice try - I can send you 1m for 10btc but you can buy cheaper elsewhere.
As for the 51% attack a lot of coins (miilions) already change hands. May early adopters are selling them.
If the exchange is up soon then it will be no problem at all..

Send 10 more and lost  Tongue
3408  Economy / Securities / Re: [IPVO] [Multiple Exchanges] Neo & Bee - LMB Holdings on: November 27, 2013, 12:17:20 PM
What was this supposed to prove exactly? Ukyo is on IRC, posting to the forum and it is known he is working with Neo to try to resolve the situation. Is cold calling him supposed to speed up resolution of the situation?  Huh
You seriously think that ukyo will "resolve" this situation? You can wait, I will not. We will see who is right.

I'm sorry but I cannot disclose what other information I have on this 'incident' as I cannot give any clues to Jon. I can tell you there are strong signs that embezzlement has occurred.
Go legal route then - self justice (not sure for the English term) is not the optimal solution imo. Furthermore when someone pressed enough he may do silly things to himself - bye bye bitcoins... (plus I could not live with that burden but maybe you are cold hearted don't know)!
3409  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: 1st Nxt Slot Machine! on: November 27, 2013, 12:11:41 PM
I just send 9nxt to test it - I got 3 confirmations but I can't find the block!

U won't get anything anyway.

1. Send from 10 to 1000 NXT to 4427320429393039971
Damn! lol

But where is the block anyway?

I called a recent phone number for Jon that I have dug up through sources. Didn't record it, but convo went like this.

Jon: Picks up phone, silence
Me: Hello, is this Jon Montroll?
Jon: Yes. Who are you?
Me: I'm a weexchange user. I need access to my funds. I will not wait indefinitely.
Jon: How did you find this phone number?
Me: Do you have enough liquid BTC on hand to pay all weex deposits?
Jon: Where did you find this number?
Me: Do you?

Jon hanged up. Further calls were unanswered.
Maybe if you scare him good enough you will indeed lose your funds permanently...just saying..
3412  Economy / Securities / Re: [IPVO] [Multiple Exchanges] Neo & Bee - LMB Holdings on: November 27, 2013, 11:53:00 AM
The share price has held up amazingly well considering btc's rise. If only this has happened in march!

Also, havelock have zero liquidity. The site lacks important security so I would never leave funds on there and people don't trust that it won't get shut down.

As for WeEx - let's see what happens.

Not sure what you mean by lacking important security. It offers 2factor authentication and such, as well as cold storage.

I can't protect withdrawals. As for cold storage - in principle maybe but we've all seen how well wallets have been implemented in practice. I think you'll find many people who previously traded are now too wary over security to use third party sites to hold trading funds.
Sooner or later - Mastercoin, Colored Coins, Bitshares, Next etc

I still CANNOT delete red flagged peers!! This should be fixed in next Next update lol
Hope the name 'Next' won't be remembered for the 'next update' instead of 'Next Bitcoin' hehe
3415  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Nxt :: descendant of Bitcoin - Updated Information on: November 27, 2013, 10:57:46 AM
New coins are not generated at all. Miner's salary is paid only with transaction fees. An account must be unlocked to mine. Timer in [Recent blocks] is just an assessement, it's changed each new block. A few coins will generate a block very rarely, so we need someone to implement pooled mining.
Do we have a bounty for a mining pool?

@bybitcoin

Where should I transfer the 150K to?
Sending you my 150K part...
3417  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Nxt :: descendant of Bitcoin - Updated Information on: November 27, 2013, 09:14:38 AM
Wow, I like it! But it will have to be behind Tor etc imo..

What for? Do u think it will be seized by FBI? Ha! We could use distributed DNS when Nxt implements it.
The laundering issue won't sound so good to them, but you are right we can use the dis.DNS!
3418  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Nxt :: descendant of Bitcoin - Updated Information on: November 27, 2013, 08:54:08 AM
I've got an idea

What if someone launches a Nxt bank? It could solve some issues:

1. Anonymity. All transactions r traceable, the bank could be used to send funds from one account to another off-chain. It's a plain laundering service.
2. Unstable mining rate. Owners of a few coins have very little chance to generate a block, the bank could mine blocks using deposited coins and spread fees proportionally. It's a plain pooled mining.
3. Trust. U have to trust someone when transfer NXT in exchange for goods/services/bitcoins, the bank could be used to do 2-step payments. If one of the parties violates agreement then noone gets the coins making it unprofitable to scam. It's an automated escrow service.

What do u think?

3419  Economy / Securities / Re: [IPVO] [Multiple Exchanges] Neo & Bee - LMB Holdings on: November 27, 2013, 08:35:27 AM
When Neobee floated the BTC/USD rate was aprox 130 USD

 130*0.0030 = 0.39 USD each

now it is aprox 970 USD

 970*.0030 = 2.91 USD each

So each share has increase in USD value a lot and investors are weary after all shit that's been going down. Why would you swap an increasing BTC for a depreciating   share?  Why would you buy shares on an exchange that could be taken down by the SEC soon?

The only time that Neobee shares will rise is when they publish a quarterly report that shows solid growth and substantial deposits.  Or if we get some investors with balls of steel and BTC to burn.

Both Havelock and Neo are out of the US, can't really see what the SEC could do to harm this venture tbh, except maybe requiring Havelock to identify US customers (good luck with that!)
That's why SEC is shutting them down IMHO.

ok let me back up a bit.... am i doing something wrong here?  I use java -cp -Nxt.zip Nxt from the directory the Nxt.zip file is in and it says 2.11 running, then craps out at 133 blocks.  I uninstalled java, reinstalled new JRE version, erased all java temp files, erased all NXT files, downloaded the new 2.11 zip and cranked up, same thing.  reboots dont bhelp.  No errors on DOS window.  Anyone help?

Thx for the report. I'll send it to BCNext next morning.

And I guess you arent mining unless you open the localhost web page and unlock, right?

Right.

ok thanks we'll see what they say i guess.  Im intently checking all nxt-related stuff.. with its new features im betting itll go big and want to buy more but freaking coinbase is taking FOREVER to verify my deposit.

If it matters, all my known peers are moving to 0 and into blacklisted
No nxt yet? Don't worry, some are selling them dirty cheap atm (0.6btc=1m nxt).
I bet this will change soon though!
