361  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin Price | Healthy pullback on: January 22, 2018, 04:03:49 PM
I personally think its a wait till february as January is quite unpredictable due to people taking profits and we've had a lot happen in this month on top of that

1. BCC ponzi collapse
2. Governmental taxes/shutdowns
3. A lot of inexperienced money flow that might overreact to circumstances.

But I can easily see BTC retrace back to 8k. Just wondering when are we calling something a ''healthy pullback'' or ''correction'' and when are we speaking of a crash? If this was stocks this would be an utter disaster crash.

Hi guys, may i know the rules to avoid getting banned in this forum...
I appreciate any helpful answer.

1. Don't spam
2. Quality posts only
3. Don't post referral links

Just use common sense...

Well Mcafee can't find anything, also scanned my other computer which runs AVG and it also can't find anything. I suppose its safe but I'm paranoid as hell right now. I don't even dare opening MEW or any other exchange website, I keep thinking that my anti-virus must have missed something.

I looked online into phising and supposedly they can also inject some malware/spyware into your browser upon visiting a website, but I suppose my anti-virus would pick it up?

Nothing bad on being paranoid (in some reasonable boundaries).  The problem is the virus is always first and tools to stop and cure it comes later. I just hope you was not unlucky enough to be among first infected.

I didn't calm you much, huh?  Grin

:|

not really no... but the website was targeted at me filling out sensitive info.. so I suppose a virus is a little far fetched if the website is designed specifically for me to voluntairly give up information?

I'm sorry for that.
Yea, agree. Most probably wanted your personal data only (pass or w/e)

Just idea .. there are also some web malware scanners (not sure how good they are). Just put the link in and they scan it for threats. (be careful this time not opening the link ... use righ button and copy rather than selecting it with mouse)

Already deleted the whole thing so I wouldn't accidently press it again... no idea what the site was it had this infamous ''.'' on one of the letters, seen it a lot of with Etherdelta links where they put a dot under the h.
The whole thing was really bad english aswell, I know that its fairly easy for anyone without any technical skills with the help of a program to duplicate sites and then host them under a different name.

I personally think it was some low income country(English was horrible, 1st redflag) that just duplicated a website and tried to be clever to get me to follow the next link to a fake MEW as the article was about parity bug being found in every other ethereum wallet except for MEW and that I should go check really quick, making a transfer to check if it still works.

Atleast my reasoning is calming me down.. thank god for logic huh? It really relaxes me the more I think and try to rationalize what happened to understand what I was exposed to.

Anyway I did download and run some programs such as CCleaner and MalwareBytes (which was recommended as a really good one) MalwareBytes found 1 threat but nothing that I recognize that could have been from that phising site and its deleted now.

I am going to increase security though as this was fucking scary, especially since I had a really good day trading and I can't stand to think I'd lose that money....

edit; I downloaded and installed some extra programs recommended as being specialised in the problem I suspect i'm infected with, they couldn't find anything aswell so I guess I got lucky this time.
367  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Clicked phising link - quickly help? on: January 21, 2018, 09:34:18 PM
Do you use any antivir, antimalware, web shield? To be safe you'd better scan you PC.
Based on my experience most sites use some sort of web miner ( using your CPU to mine coins for admin as long as you keep the site open).

Will you share the url? (do not post is as clickable link)

yeah I use McAfee

For safety reasons I'd rather not, I'm on my laptop and tried to copypaste the link and landed on it again.... so I really rather not...

368  Other / Beginners & Help / Clicked phising link - quickly help? on: January 21, 2018, 07:21:22 PM
I pasted a phising link into my browser, I didn't do anything else though and as soon as I realised it was a phising link I clicked it away.

Anything I need to do? Or am I still safe since I didn't download anything or shared sensitive info? Bit if a noob on these things some help would be appreciated.

370  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Crypto faster and cheaper?? on: January 21, 2018, 01:38:57 PM
I just made a purchase using Bitcoin today.
The receiver has yet to receive the Bitcoin sent over an hour ago.
And...I was charged $17 in fees (using Coinbase) to complete this transaction!!
How is this digital currency the "thing of the future"??
If I had paid with credit card, my purchase would have been final in seconds with no additional fees.
What is the real advantage of this voodoo currency??

Yeah exactly, BTC used to be fast and cheap but right now people outbid eachother to get into the next block so the fees are very high. There is Lightning Network coming to cure the issue but that can still take a long time. The problem you describe is why BTC forked and there's now BitcoinCash which still lives up to the ancient promise of BTC's low fee and fast transactions.

Sorry

There's still the advantage of no middle man and sending to anyone in the world P2P, can't do that with a creditcard.
371  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: FluidLedger (obvious scam ICO + thread spam) on: January 21, 2018, 01:30:05 PM
I personally think they're just aidropping small amounts with a big premine so they can dump, stirring hype to jack up the price. But yeah it looks awefull and they claim they have ''the best team''.. can't even make a website.
372  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: GOAL BONANZA - suspicion of fraud on: January 21, 2018, 01:05:31 PM
I'm not sure about the bounty situation as I'm not involved in the distribution, but I received all the tokens that I was supposed to receive.

In all fairness, bounty hunters have been low-quality-spamming the telegram for weeks about their bounty payment even when a proper date was announced for distribution.

The bans started coming because the discussion had no ending, bounty hunters kept claiming they are unpaid and the members of the project kept stating their terms & conditions, Its not suprising these bounty hunters that kept flooding the chat got banned because it became a serious annoyance for the community.

Quote
I recommend that you refrain from working with this project until the dispute is resolved. Those who ask uncomfortable questions in the chat of the project, just ban.

I understand you have some bias here as you obviously think you're right, else you wouldn't be making this thread. But the team and community has put up with the bounty hunters flooding and spamming for weeks at a time before taking drastic measures such as banning them from telegram. I think your statement is misplaced and I think the team has every right to deny payment of certain bounties when they deem it wasn't of quality, fraudelent or somehow else infringed their said terms & conditions.

Also very few are complaining about not receiving payments, so you should ask yourself first if you did anything that could have given the team a reason to not pay you, such as fraudelent behaviour. The ones that do complain are spamming the telegram up big time, as I said... so don't be suprised to get banned for that.
373  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Thank you for the Government Shutdown Bitcoin And Alts Looking Better on: January 20, 2018, 07:40:45 PM
Gov shutdown? what? Also I wouldn't necessarily put Bitcoins rally and altcoins rally in the category of being caused by this news. Seems like a BTC rally was coming for some time now...

375  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Coin ''X'' - Guess the coin, Coin Trivia! on: January 20, 2018, 05:24:44 PM
Coin ''X'', X stands for the undisclosed coin that it is. It is a coin you can send/transact with that has 0 fees and under 3 second confirmation, it is also a privacy coin. Can you guess which it is?

It also has a fully functional platform on which ICOs can launch, ICOs get their independent blockchain unlike for example Ethereum where everything goes onto a single Blockchain. ICOs have been held on this ledger and more are scheduled for the near future.

Can you guess the coin?

another hint: You can stake the coin for dividends
376  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Happy Trump Inauguration Anniversary! on: January 20, 2018, 05:15:05 PM
It's a beautiful day to be an American!

Stocks are WAY up. New policies being passed. New tax laws are at work. Just an all around great day!

Happy day, world. Here's to passing a budget!  Grin

Stock market is in a bubble, also there's an impending housing crash coming. Better stock up on Bitcoins
377  Other / Politics & Society / Re: NET NEUTRALITY - Cryptocurrencies in trouble?? on: January 20, 2018, 02:48:51 PM
I haven't seen much media coverage on this topic, but is anyone worried about net neutrality going away putting cryptocurrencies at the direct mercy of the FCC & Internet providers? Is this even possible? Who's to say that their main hidden objective is to snuff out the entire world of cryptocurrencies? Decentralized platforms are a threat to centralized powers. Let's say they like crypto's, well I'm sure we can agree Bitcoin, Ethereum, Litecoin, and RIPPLE made the first cut. But coins like, Zcash, ZenCash, or Dash, no, those coins gotta go, we can't have private transactions here. Decentralized exchanges, that's a negative! Steem, decentralized freedom of speech, nope, that goes on the chopping block too! Am I crazy or missing something?

378  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Should I donate to charity? on: January 20, 2018, 02:47:43 PM
Guys, a lot of us make money on trading and sometimes there's an excess that you don't need. Do you think it's a good idea to donate part of the profits to charity? Whom would you suggest helping first?

I'd say help people in your local community, charity organisations often are not what they seem. They either have their own agenda, take huge cuts on what they receive in donations or are simply running a scam.
379  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Is this a 100X opportunity? on: January 20, 2018, 02:07:50 AM
inb4 massive premine and tears caused by dumping. No it looks like complete garbage and the fact that they're actively speculating on the price makes it even worse/illegal (though current regulations don't make it illegal).

Also they claim a lot, trying to stir hype on their rubbish. Plus aidropped coins don't ever really do that well since there's always massive dumping. There's no incentive to hold because no one really cares/invested in it. People are just looking to dump it on the next sucker. With ICOs you pay for you have plenty of dedicated investors that work with the project and community to build something worthwile. I can't see this being anything worthwile to get into.

With miners you have electricity costs and network support. There needs to be economic incentives for a project to succeed, not just:

''Get in our ICO noa because 100x and it will be 50k per coin..''

Doesn't work that way sorry.
380  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: ArcBlock&Etherdelta on: January 20, 2018, 01:58:40 AM
Take a look at this news:
https://twitter.com/ArcBlock_io/status/954242636021366784
we know that Etherdelta Market has many weaknesses. one of them is not real time.
how do you think about the cooperation between ArcBlock and Etherdelta.
Will Etherdelta be a big market like Binance?

Not sure, their UI is complete garbage. But it would be nice to effortlessly pick something up on ED.
