1081  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Is Swarm City a good Uber alternative? on: October 15, 2017, 09:08:08 PM
I think you should compare it to another ICO hitting in December called GITTO. I translated their ANN and Whitepaper and I had some serious questions at first but the more I read the whitepaper (whilst translating it) the more I though it was good. They also have some good names with entrepreneurs who got bought out in multi million dollar deals.

www.gittoproject.com

Don't really know about Swarm City but I do know that if you're talking about Uber alternatives that this project is something to look into. They also don't limit themselves and offer a wide range of products to both consumers and businesses big and small alike.
1082  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Survey! Investing in ICO on: October 15, 2017, 09:04:12 PM
The first and only ICO I went for was DAO. Haven't touched another coin offering ever since that massive fail.

DAO casino? Gambling ICO's are overall unprofitable. Best is to see if they have good dividend payouts and else I wouldn't go anywhere near those.
There are allot of good ICO's though but I'd say to have some economic insight is a great advantage.
Every ICO will present itself as the best but reality proves different. I find that it helps to be very pessimistic about every ICO at first so you're skeptical and ask questions.
If you can answer those questions and prove yourself wrong thats a big plus.
1083  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Survey! Investing in ICO on: October 15, 2017, 09:01:52 PM
I like to have a filtering process. I mostly go with ICO's that have a clear problem/solve strategy. Allot of ICOs aren't worth the time though. It may seem great but thats mostly on paper, practically its far more difficult. You have to account that most startups fail and I don't see that any different for crypto.

Some ICO's that I invested in lately:

Substratum, Electroneum, Soferox (Soferox was a bit of a gamble, didn't read anything.) But hey.. its my money..

Substratum was more a case of that I liked the Idea behind it and I can't really give a fly if it tanks or goes up cause I believe in the core principles.
Plus they we're having a hurricane relief pot (10% of purchase) and I think that is great. On top of that I might get a free T-Shirt so I'm happy!

Electroneum was I guess the only one I looked seriously at and bought in because of its potential utility it has.

I have only one upcoming ICO that I will be investing in because I think the application could be enormous and it has a professional/experienced team behind it.

I prefer investing in existing coins because atm there's a bit of an ICO craze so it really has to be worthwhile. Lots of people looking for cheap deals to turn into instant profit.
Can't blame them though.
Substratum was hodled by the community and I think thats a big plus. Shows commitment and believe in its core value's of what its trying to solve as a currency.

1084  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: a newbies search for free coins or a trial or fun "currency" on: October 15, 2017, 08:49:34 PM
Hey there, bitcointalk members!

Reading a little bit about btc since some time i was wondering about the technical background and how things work when handling cryptocoins...so i dived into some topics like mining, wallets, exchanges, faucet....

found some interesting and funny things, in case steemit would be open for registration i would write about it there Smiley
and i read about the brave browser and is it true it will interact with some coins then?

Are there any faucet pages that are not scam? There is the Boinc software that seems ok; i think its a nice idea to use the energy for scientific purpose than to just waste it for a self created mathematical problem; but you again have to need a gridcoin balance (what i understood its necessary for many currencys - maybe all of them - to have a balance to be part of the game, a technical thing)

coinbrawl seems to be a scam too; it is a shame! the game could have been cool...

so i tried it with yobit.net but when i tried to withdraw some of the coins - the most are not listed at an other  exchange or no wallets are available for end users - it didn`t recognize the adress: a scam too it seems

i am wondering if it is possible to mine a fresh - it does help? can it be fresh enough? -  coin with a laptop, or are even these new coins target of big miners? i could image in...

So i think it is not possible to get free coins...BUT!

I think there are many people out there who want to practise a lil bit with it...
Do you know a completely free "currency" that i can use to understand things better...trie out some things...

i found some tutorials of how to make an own cryptocurrency based on eth i think, its like a difficult copy paste thing, but again you need some balance and its too difficult to do it for me, but hey...maybe something is out there and i didn`t notice...

cheers to the cryptosphere!
troedel

Coinpot.co is your best bet with non scamming faucets - it isn't worth your time though.

Build your account here and participate in a signature campaign or facebook/twitter that's worthwhile and semi-passive.
1085  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Jesus Coin? on: October 15, 2017, 08:47:08 PM
Its more a joke, some people on Reddit discovered its source code and decided to mine it and build something from it.
Dogecoin is kind of similar, it isn't very serious. I would not go as far as calling it a scam but..

But anyone can see that with a name like that it isn't something to really be taken serious.. same as Doge..
1086  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Thoughts on Refereum? (advised by Twitch & Unity) on: October 15, 2017, 08:43:51 PM
Yeah i'm normally quite pessimistic about anything as I find that it helps me raise questions and if I can thoroughly answer those questions and get positive on something I buy becuase I have proven myself that it has utility.

I think this paid2play industry is still very immature but it draws pretty big audiences. It's not very different than watching sports.

I'd say to mature this industry is to have some approach/excecution that makes it work. The concept itself is pretty solid and largely unexplored. Most people that are paid2play are freelancing it. If you want to become paid2play your best bet is looking at other youtubers/twitchers to see what they do that makes it attractive to watch. So in a sense its still in a pioneering phase, I think RIOT / CSGO and sorts are making some good progress though on this front.

But I can't really say I know anything about it. Just saying what seems most likely to me.
1087  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What's your take on Electroneum? Is it a another Bitcoin in the making? on: October 15, 2017, 08:29:05 PM
is there or will there be a compelling reason to use electroneum (etn) over any other token?

It's focussed on a ''niche'' market, don't really know if it is that niche.

breakdown:

People pay for mobile gaming apps and stuff like that and quite a bit of money goes into it. Electroneum wants to become an ingame currency to transfer the money you have in one app to another. I don't think its intended for real world use. Developers will then also be incentivized (payed) to intergrate electroneum. Overall I think thats a very good idea.

They also have something with gambling but its been a while since I read their whitepaper, they are however one of the few companies if not the only company to do market research.
That is also how they came up to use 2 decimals as opposed to bitcoins 8 decimals (satoshi's).

I think it has potential, no guarrantee but obviously it will be favored by gamers since any money left in a game they want to quit can be transfered to another game they want to start in. I think this is also the reason why that CEO guy from Rocketspace or something bought into that ICO. Cause it does actually have an appeal and usecase for gamers.

1088  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: WORST LOSS? on: October 15, 2017, 08:25:01 PM
CloakCoin 2nd or third coin I bought. Just didn't choose a good entry-point.
Lesson learned. Btw I threw that money into another coin and broke-even.
CloakCoin has some cool stuff coming up in 2018 and I'm considering going back into it. But I'll see, so many great opportunities that its hard to pick.

1089  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Altcoins naming on: October 15, 2017, 08:20:37 PM
Yeah some coins do this on purpose to abuse the succes of other coins, Vibe has an imposter as tweeted on their feed to mislead investors and profit on the succes of another coin.

Lot of scam so best to be safe than sorry (unless its bitcoin... you can't play safe on bitcoin imo)
1090  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: VERGE (VXG) releasing WRAITH PROTOCOL TODAY!!! on: October 15, 2017, 08:00:29 PM
I might be wrong and I hope for the investors that I am but I honestly think there are better privacy coins to go with instead of picking Verge which is supposedly low/under value(d).
Also allot of pump talk surrounding Verge, everyone is just looking at gains instead of practical use of the coin.

The only people that will profit are the devs because they're getting more skilled in coding and have something to show for.
1091  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: $5k on hand. Where to invest? on: October 15, 2017, 07:50:24 PM
Would you guys recommend Ripple as investment, Even after research its tough to decide.

I won't touch Ripple ever, idc what happens. It's also a centralised coin. Some have faith in it but I think that banks rather develop their own blockchain and don't really care about Ripple. It's a nice idea but unless it gets used its just as useless as bunnycoin. Maybe they will have some succes with smaller and private banks though.
1092  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: $5k on hand. Where to invest? on: October 15, 2017, 07:47:33 PM
Check XVG and SIAcoin - both are rather undervalued right now and there no more space to step back for them  Cheesy

Can't really say XVG is undervalued - its dogedark.. nothing really special about it. Lots of better coins to invest in imo.
1093  Economy / Economics / Re: European Union Will Seek a Crackdown on Bitcoin on: October 15, 2017, 07:43:40 PM
Funny thing is that a report from the Euro parlement shows that the activity of crime and terrorist organisations in crypto is very very low. It just bears a stigma because YOU COULD POTENTIALLY use it for those purposes but reality shows that it isn't really the case. Its not like Fiat isn't already used for tons of these activities and its not like they're able to track someone down that way. Just a load of bull.
1094  Economy / Economics / Re: Statistics about cryptocurrency used to buy goods on: October 15, 2017, 07:38:03 PM
I don't know of any graphs but for what its worth I do spend BTC on things like ordering food and products online.
1095  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Speculation Stratis price 2018 on: October 15, 2017, 04:19:10 PM
My estimate is that it will be about 15-20$. HODL!

Hodl your stratis precious ones, it will be worth it.
I think as much as he has a downward tendency, you want too much to peak or pump in near future for it. Best regards.

I got patience no worries, this is a speculative section and that's what I do.
I'm not pumping but with so many investors that seem to be scratching their heads if they made the right choice I thought this was quite a stimulans of positivity.
1096  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Speculation Stratis price 2018 on: October 15, 2017, 04:07:13 PM
What really is it? The price you say is really low. We believe that stratis will be $ 100 in 2018. The project looks really successful.

Now stratis can be bought, the price is low.

Really? thought I was being reasonable.

1098  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What is a good fee for the miners? on: October 15, 2017, 02:01:33 PM
Okay it took me a while to figure this out.. the fee price is shown in kilobytes... WOW.
1099  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What is a good fee for the miners? on: October 15, 2017, 01:23:17 PM
I'm still just as lost, I tried 250 sat/byte as recommended by that site and it says that it won't excecute the transaction because fee is to low.
I tried 300 sat and it says that that seems unusually high. I tried some inbetween but its either to low or unusually high.
1100  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / What is a good fee for the miners? on: October 15, 2017, 01:11:19 PM
I kind of want a semi-fast transaction like up to 20-30 minutes, I started playing around with the fee's on electrum wallet and I can't set it back to default and I'm lost >.>
