41  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Bitmain E3 Ethash Miner ASIC (Shipping:16-31 July. $800 USD) on: April 03, 2018, 03:25:22 PM
180mh at 800w is too close to a 6GPU RX 470/570 rigs numbers ... this makes me extremely suspicious this "ASIC" is just another attempt at putting multiple regular GPU dies on one mainboard PCB, kinda similar to what Pandaminer did with mxm module gpu's, but on a smaller form factor. I would love to see a teardown of these.

I was thinking the same thing only 180 MH @ 800 watts . may be they can't really make a ASIC for eth or it cost to much and this is the best they can do or failed to do and need to sell off  failed samples to make some thing back . i can see why it only cost 800 bucks if they charged any more there would be complaints out the ASS .
42  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Bitmain E3 Ethash Miner ASIC (Shipping:16-31 July. $800 USD) on: April 03, 2018, 03:19:50 PM

Horrible ROI for a miner thats months away from release.

180 mh/s is barely 170$ a month. By the time they release it if prices dont go up that miner will be worthless. But yeah GPU mining is dead thats the cost of 2 rx 580

The thing is everyone is comparing it to the current (highly inflated) price of GPUs. If it wasn't for the run-up in GPU prices because something like this wasn't available last year those RX580's would probably be going for $150 each by now, so this would actually be more like the cost of 5 of them.

Sure you have the mobo and other stuff to add to the price, but then again that GPU based rig is more flexible in that it can mine other alogs, including new ones that may come out. Also, as others have pointed out, the GPU rig can be parted out and resold if need be, whereas the ASIC is just a paperweight.

So long-term I think this is actually great news, as it isn't quite the GPU killer everyone had feared. It beats out GPU rigs on price alone, but as I stated only because GPU prices are so over inflated right now. Once the E3 hits the market GPU prices will come back down to normal and probably become bargains. At that point I expect you can put together a 6x RX580 rig for closer to $1,100 by then, so it will be a even match considering the GPU rig will have other uses and resale value so worth the extra $300.

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
The sense able posts GPU mining won't die just be slowed down some and then some thing new comes along it's back full @ force for a while. it's just sad it had to BE eth and Yet to come Zec , I guess they lied about it being ASIC resistant or the money did,it all ways happen that way good intentions at first an then the Money an greed, power steps in and ruins a good thing till the next good thing an then it's the same thing all over again .
43  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Is ETH upgrading now to PoW/PoS ? on: April 02, 2018, 08:17:28 PM
Reward per blocked reduce !! if that happen then it is time to switch my rigs to another coin or maybe even shut them down all together . The current ROI is a joke can not even think about what the ROI will be after reward reduced . This gonna be a disaster to a lot of GPU miners .  Undecided

may be not ..........it's sure better then ASIC killing it ..........an at this point till id  say the 2 or 3rd Q prices will stay low so if ROI is your bag GL ....
44  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Antminer V9 4TH on: April 02, 2018, 07:48:11 PM
How loud are these miners?

Presumably as loud as the S7 miners are.

Indeed they are or as loud as any of the new ones from but main around 76 DB . but you can either make a sound box or buy one off ebay and run it at 100 % an even over clocked it if you want in the box the DB drop to normal levels or were you can sleep in the same room . I made a sound box /hotbox whatever you want a call it for one of my D3's and it works Great .....

My electricity rate up here in Canada is 0.04 kWh so I should definitely be seeing profit.

yes you should right now till id say some time into the 3Q of this year, it won't be much you might even hit ROI if that's your bag or worry because of the price of the miner an depending on what the Diff stays at with them testing new stuff . . with solar it's the same just watch the meters with solar an the disconnect to the power company at nite unless your off the gild  .  . if your power is high without using solar .

The price on these things have really come down.  I just bought a used one for $200 and an APW3++ for $200 off Amazon.  This will be my first foray into bitcoin mining and from the research I did there really isn't any cheaper way to get 4TH/s than an Antminer V9.

an yes again i can't believe there is fools still selling S7 for more then the V9  i just hope whoever buys these things shops and learns not to buy a S7 when the V9 is basically a S7 at a lot cheaper price. it amazes me the greed of some... when there is more then enough to go around .

45  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: (Review/Guide) WhatsMiner M3 11.5 Th/s, 2000W Bitcoin (SHA-256) ASIC miner on: March 31, 2018, 12:04:20 AM
That is still kind of expensive with a 2000w power consumption.. sheesh.

yup i was about to say the same thing....     2000 wats to run it an all you get is 11.5 th ,,

why not go for  the avalon 841 13.5 th @ 1290 watts, i can't believe they pass this off as a good thing .

I wouldn't use it if some one gave it to me and i have solar .
46  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Is the release of a new ASIC for mining Eth a good thing for its price? on: March 30, 2018, 10:21:25 PM
No because those ASIC miners will be useless by December, 2018. Ethereum will be switching to their new PoS system called Casper, remember?

It will also be a losing investment by Bitmain and the rest of the ETH ASIC producers, if you ask me.

I doubt about the news there will be asic miner for eth. Ethereum as far as i know is asic proof because of DAG. But if someone created asoc miner for ethereum it will be obsolete or no one want to buy it. Because people will choose staking their ethereum then mining it.

If such ASIC would be created, which would be good for ETH, it would be loaded with RAM and DRAM.
But not only ETH uses memory intensive mining, so I dont think the investment into such ASIC would be a bad idea.
Even if ETH would switch to PoS, there are other coins to be mined with such an asic, like:
VTC, ETH, XMR, GRS, FTC, AEON, Zencash, Btcz, DMD, NAV, and might be others (these are the ones I found).
While it is true, that ETH might switch to PoS, but there are plenty of other options to mine with a memory-stuffed ASIC.

Note: I only found one rig, Bitmain F3 ASIC Miner, it will come out in 2018 Q2.

Please explain how Destroying mining is a good thing ....? ....  I'm willing to bet your reply is like the Republican's reply here in the US for healthcare , schools etc which is not good for any one but them or your self , ASIC miner will always be bad unless they lower the price of the miners an share the wealth So everyone can enjoy it, there is plenty to go around, they make more money then they will ever need or use in a life time .......
47  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / US Tech Company Intel Files Patent To crypto mining Energy Use on: March 30, 2018, 10:11:24 PM
https://cointelegraph.com/news/us-tech-company-intel-files-patent-to-reduce-bitcoin-mining-energy-use#utm_source=Newsletter1&utm_medium=Email

US technology company Intel has filed a patent for a Bitcoin (BTC) mining hardware accelerator that would reduce the amount of electricity used in crypto mining by “reducing the space utilized and power consumed by Bitcoin mining hardware,” according to a US Patent and Trademark Office patent application released yesterday, March 29.

The patent, originally filed on Sept. 23 of last year, seeks to solve the “challenge for miners” of “search[ing] through the entire nonce space in a brute force manner while minimizing energy consumption per hash and maximizing performance per watt.”

According to Intel, this can be done by “optimizing the critical paths in the computation intensive message digest and scheduler datapaths,” resulting in “extra time” that can “reduce switching capacitance or scale the supply voltage” to create a “35% combinational power improvement in the message digest logic.”

The mining of Bitcoin, which Intel refers to as the “most popular type of (e.g., unit of) digital currency used in the digital currency eco-system,” needs large amounts of electricity to solve algorithms to mine for the coin. Bitcoin mining energy has been called by some as as an “environmental disaster,” while the other side argues that the possibility of using leftover electricity and renewable energy makes mining a “non-issue” for the environment.

The patent application writes that “because of the large amount of power utilized, and the relatively high cost of that power, mining Bitcoins can be a very costly endeavor. In some embodiments, the cost to mine a single Bitcoin may exceed the value of the mined Bitcoin.”

This negative mining cost ratio, which occurs temporarily during market dips, was pointed out by Fundstrat’s Tom Lee in a report earlier this month.

Intel’s patent application notes that it refers to ASIC implementations for “convenience,” although their system could apply to “any other logic device [...] including, but not limited to Processors, SoCs, and FPGA platforms.”

This patent application is not Intel’s first foray into the crypto sphere. In May of last year, Intel partnered with healthcare transaction service provider and software development firm PokitDok in order to utilize Blockchain technology in the healthcare industry.

In September 2017, Intel announced a collaboration with Chinese media and technology firm Tencent for working on an Internet of Things (IoT) Blockchain solution, and in October, Intel partnered with virtual currency hardware startup firm Ledger in order to use their Blockchain platform for storing crypto holdings.

49  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: SRBMiner Cryptonight AMD GPU Miner V1.1 on: March 25, 2018, 01:23:16 PM
- Low DevFee (0.85%) -> every ~2 hours 1 minute mining for the dev
- Non-agressive DevFee mining -> if miner can't connect to DevFee pool, no problem, switching back to user pool ASAP

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
Smart move why can't the rest do it this way, more will use it with less complaints .  if anyone complains about this fee an the way it works they are ass holes .

I can see complaining about the 2 % fee it makes the DEV the ass holes imo.....an they  Usually are .......

54  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Mining , still worth it? on: March 18, 2018, 08:23:53 PM
It's hard to dig bitcoin, it's hard, and it's better to buy some bitcoins and keep it.

if your trying to mine BTC aka Bitcoins it can't be done with GPU's any more, i started mining when you could use GPU mining BTC on slushpool  . i adjusted every one has to or you gonna be left behind dong this kind of stuff.

at one time you could use CPU .
55  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Mining , still worth it? on: March 18, 2018, 08:12:58 PM
 Mining , still worth it?

That depends and will all ways depend on you and what you want mining to do for you . during the good times and bad times and mining has those moments that's what makes it so much fun .

to me it was never not worth it. I miss doing it, if i stop .  I'm saying this to PISS off the up tight ass holes who think its not smart saying: ROI,, hahahaha I'm smart and you can be,an act wide have fun and not be so uptight .. if it bugs, you that much i don't know what to say because im not gonna stop saying it,I don't care how much you want me to .

CR reminds OF EQ, if any one here played that game they know what i mean. that was a EQ term at one time, man do i miss those day .
56  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: if you live in the EU, watch your profit. I've already turned off my rigs. on: March 18, 2018, 07:56:32 PM
if your in it for the Profit, you shouldn't be mining unless you have deep packets because it will all ways go like this and if you do mine don't complain, it's like any thing, good times and bad times.

I like times like this the coins in most cases stay the same or go up as the weak stop mining and i don't care about ROI, an yea i said ROI for the fools that don't like that word ...you can still be smart, act wide  and not be so up tight . I thought we were mining virtual cash not real cash..... all ways have a backup ....

57  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: I'm glad I didn't buy any more video cards, a 1080ti barley makes $1 a day on: March 18, 2018, 04:55:06 PM
If your 1080ti is only making $1 a day you are doing something wrong. I know people running a single 1080ti and they are making $3-$5 per day. Where are you getting your information or what are you mining and on what settings? That $3-$5 per day figure is without running the card intense, unless you consider 65c and 76% TDP to be anything except conservative.

You're doing something wrong if your goal is primarily to make the most $ per day. Maybe we can help you figure it out and optimize.

Would you mind sharing how they're making $3-$5 a day?  Thanks.
Each of my 1080 (non TI) is making around $1.86 usd per day.  Something is wrong with the original scenario.

Call me greedy but Im waiting for the nervous people to flood the market with used GPU's which will greatly push prices down.  Ill gladly turn my 20 GPU mini farm into a 100 GPU farm.  I can turn it off when profits goto shit and I can turn it back on when profits go up. I pAY 4.8 cents kw/h.

yup How i feel i have solar I'm buying any cheap miner i come across there dumping because of the price drop . gonna mine an hold so far it's working.

Quote
this ia why we were laughing when people were paying $1k for a 1080ti and $450 to $600 for a 580
maroons 😂😂😂

I thought that was kind of stupid to do. i stop buying AMD Cards back in Sep or Oct and Switched to NV cards , an a month ago I bought one of the last 1070 ti bundles  off evaga  for like 499 now all they have on sell  is  1080ti bundle for 1100 or more......... Not buying any more CPU's new or used unless there dirt cheap and the new ones are due out around Aug SEP,  so i ll mine and hold .

58  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: if you live in the EU, watch your profit. I've already turned off my rigs. on: March 18, 2018, 03:34:31 PM
Im paying 0.16gbp per kwh and still managing to make profit. All this price correction is doing is weeding out the miners who were just in it to take advantage of a short boom in prices. The gpu prices will be coming down as the market gets flooded with secondhand ones and the companys selling new ones will have no choice but to cut there prices due to the market being saturated with cards. Yea it may be a crap time to mine right now but aslong as you are breaking even then mine on.

I agree we see who the weak are . if you mine for profit , mining's not your bag, it has it's  ups and downs . I like it during these times the most .

It looks like there are a lot of people freaking out about mining profits fluctuating. I have news for you guys, but bitcoin price is fluctuating right now. I honestly am not worried about convincing people that it will be worth it in the long run, because all that means if there is more mining profits for me. One good price spike up and all of the sudden everyone is going to wish they didn't sell their GPUs for cheap. If you all leave then the difficulty goes down and profits go up simultaneously, so it sounds like a win win for any miners when users are talking like this. It shows that you are not interested in maintaining a network, but only interested in maintaining high profits. You've said it yourself, it's still profitable and you don't want to keep the switch "on". I'm happy to swallow lesser profits momentarily, because if you can't handle a dip in profits then you don't deserve a spike in profits.

yup more for me, I mine and hold any way .I just had solar installed so my power cost won't matter to much either . an I'll replace the hard ware as i need to .

What a SPAM FUD post from a nobody user account.

Well its certainly not FUD that raising the Ethereum difficulty 15 th/s a week.  And it ain't the Gamers and include the
fact that GPUS are very expensive and not plentiful for big mining farms.
So explain why it has risen so much in 2 months?

This might be why

butmains F3

but that's not a real ASICS miner for Eth...  beyond that i don't know any other reason why it would go up that fast .
