401  Other / Meta / Re: Icopress ' Merit Source Application 🚩 on: February 21, 2024, 04:38:24 AM
it means no campaign manager should be a source.

I don't know why you pontificate in such a categorical way in a forum that is not yours, but theymos'. I have said before that I find it reasonable in principle to see a potential conflict of interest, but if theymos has already appointed a manager as a merit source it is clear that he studies the cases one by one and does not see things as categorically as you do.

402  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Demand for bitcoin exceeds supply by a factor of ten? on: February 20, 2024, 04:23:10 AM
That's the current demand. But as we all know, demand goes up and down all the time.

Right, you always have to keep in mind that it is not a static thing.

Demand and supply are always in equilibrium. If 900 are being mined, maybe 9000 are being sold by others. If not, price would increase to a new equilibrium.

Well, I would qualify that this is at a specific price. In the last year the trend has been that supply has not matched demand by very little, so the price trend has been increasing. If there is demand for 900 bitcoins a day at a price of around $50k and only 850 are sold the way for those left not buying to prompt those holding bitcoin to sell is to raise the bid price.
403  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: What remarkable thing have you achieved with the money you won from gambling? on: February 20, 2024, 04:18:51 AM
Years ago I bought a car that I partially financed, which I no longer do as I have not had consumer debt for some time. With a good streak I caught with poker, what I did was to pay off the loan. I believe that I could not have used the money better because from then on I started to build real wealth.
404  Economy / Gambling / Re: Withdraw ''instant'' isue on Freebitco.in on: February 20, 2024, 04:11:14 AM
That happened to me once as well. I requested an "instant" withdrawal that took almost 24 hours to be processed. And it wasn't a very large amount, like $100 or so. But I have never had a similar problem with freebitco.in again.

Sometimes instant withdrawals can be subjected to manual review but they are usually approved after a few hours if there is no indication of the user committing fraud. I believe there is supposed to be a message displayed on the website telling you it’s under review, but I’m not certain because I only request slow withdrawals to save on fees and have never encountered this problem.

I guess even though they are supposedly instant they require someone's manual approval and I don't think they have many people running the site either, but I didn't see any messages as you say. I have to say that other times I had also requested an instant withdrawal and everything worked perfectly, but since that time I have not done it again (why would I request an "instant" withdrawal that sometimes can take up to 24 hours to process?).

Since you accuse me of being a hypocrite since then on a constant basis, how about you provide some evidence of that?

Sure, I'm going to get down to providing evidence of what everyone can see, lol.

My best is that you'll either find nothing or post some unrelated garbage, since garbage posting is something is a constant with yourself.

Sure, sure. The fact that you earn merits at 0.64 times your activity despite the walls of text you write and the lessons you pretend to give everyone and you call me a garbage poster when I earn merits at 1.54 times my activity is a big lol as well. Don't you get tired of making a fool of yourself?

Oh, wait, it turns out that you don't earn enough merits in this forum because the forum members have a low IQ, is that it?

 Grin

let me explain this better.

this is a high paying campaign

So by letting him be a merit source you are giving him the ability jack up 3 or 4  full members to hero.

Then slip them in down the road.

I am not saying he will but I am saying this is an inherent conflict of interest.

That's all well and good philipma1957 but what you don't explain is why he hasn't done that already. icopress has earned almost 7000 merits, which is almost 3500 smerits. Look at his post history and tell me a single case that is as you say. It is no more a conflict of interest than the 7,000 merits he has earned. Shall we ban him from using smerits too?
406  Economy / Economics / Re: Some persons lacks financial sensibilities on: February 19, 2024, 05:17:52 AM
Giving your girlfriend money instead of a gift is a bad idea. No wonder it's a bad idea around the world. It seems to me that the protagonist of the story doesn't understand women, to try to talk about money, or give her money the least ideal day of the year is Valentine's Day. And I am surprised by those who say that the one who did it wrong is the woman. They don't have a fucking clue about women either.
407  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: How to manage gambling winnings on: February 19, 2024, 04:49:21 AM
In my case I don't worry too much because the profits I have from playing poker are not excessively high, and I also have tax deductions that compensate me for those profits. I also have a good emergency fund and sinking funds to draw from if I suddenly have a high bill.
408  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Do you stick to some Casinos or do you try out new ones? on: February 19, 2024, 04:41:09 AM
Well, as I commented recently in a thread, I practically only play poker and in fiat rooms. For some time I play a season in Pokerstars and when I get tired I play in Pacific, I play another season and then I go back to Pokerstars. The advantage of Pokerstars is that it has more traffic and better software but the level is higher. In Pacific it is easier to win but it has less traffic. Also from time to time I try some crypto room with casino games but it is not my thing.
409  Economy / Services / Re: [CFNP] MetaWin.com Signature Campaign | The First WEB3 Casino | Sr Member+ on: February 19, 2024, 04:27:18 AM
Are you guys taking the chance to win 0.2 BTC?

When I joined this campaign I made a deposit and played on the site because I believe it is reasonable to test the service you are advertising. But my thing is to play poker and on fiat sites, because crypto sites are not nearly as good as the main fiat ones for poker.

In this case I don't have a twitter account and wouldn't mind supporting the room again but I agree with PytagoraZ that the required deposit seems large, as it is roughly equivalent to a week's campaign. But I see that there are already people taking advantage of the promo, so good luck.
410  Economy / Economics / Re: Save money today so money would save you tomorrow. on: February 18, 2024, 05:36:22 AM
Saving should be a habit like brushing your teeth or taking a shower. If you get into the habit of spending less than you earn, you will greatly improve your financial situation over time. Of course, after you have enough savings for an emergency fund you should invest the money in good quality assets, including Bitcoin of course, because if you simply save in fiat money you will lose purchasing power due to inflation.
411  Economy / Gambling / Re: FreeBitco.in-$200 FreeBTC⭐Win Lambo🔥0.2BTC DailyJackpot🏆$32,500 Wager Contest on: February 18, 2024, 05:24:38 AM
Another issue is, we are on the 17th February but I didn't get the interest payment from the 16th Feb. The last payment is from the 15th Feb.
Same for me. The interest payout was also affected by the outage.

Let go of the interest for a single day, that won't hurt much  Wink  or maybe they will add up the missing interest to the accounts later.

Yes, in my case it doesn't affect me much, because although I have some satoshis there that give me a little interest, the interest of a lost day is almost nothing. I do not know what those who have large amounts will think but if they were 18 hours without being able to run the business it is also understandable that by generating much less revenue they may decide not to pay the interest if they finally decide to do so.
412  Other / Meta / Re: Icopress ' Merit Source Application on: February 18, 2024, 05:05:07 AM
I must say that I do like that the best you can do in attempt to invalidate my opinion is a set of quotes from August of 2023.

You were a hypocrite who is not to give moral lessons in August 2023, and you are still a hypocrite now, because nothing has happened since then to think that you have stopped being a hypocrite, on the contrary.

I am of the same opinion that there should be a clear distinction between the business role (bounty manager) and the merit-source (volunteer activity) to avoid conflicts of interest.

A campaign manager and a merit source are an inherent conflict of interest.

This is interesting and I agree in principle if we add the word potentially: A campaign manager and a merit source are potentially a conflict of interest. Maybe if I were theymos I would think about not giving merit source status to any campaign manager for this very reason. Now, if this is not the case, as Hhampuz says the merit records sent are public and if there was a misuse some people would immediately complain about it in the Reputation section.

In fact, to me the strongest proof that icopress will not misuse merits if given merit source status is that he earns merits at 5 times his activity and does not misuse them now.
413  Economy / Reputation / Re: A clear change in airfinex's posting pattern. on: February 18, 2024, 04:55:37 AM
I just glanced at his post history, and it looks to me like there hasn't been a change in English proficiency over the years, which is something that's obviously a dead giveaway of an account changing hands.  So I'd need way more evidence before I'd leave airfinex even a neutral tag--but that's just me.  He definitely doesn't deserve a negative, and I'd say even a neutral with not much to prove an account sale or hack is pushing it.

Well, everything here is circumstantial evidence, and in this topic I guess I'm biased because I've had a candidate in mind for the airfinex main account for some time now, and I'm surprised that this account has not tried to join signature campaigns while airfinex has, and that in the thread asking about spammers he has not included some campaigns that he knows very well. Although I could be wrong about that too, because the "evidence" I have for that is even less than for thinking it has changed hands. I am deleting the neutral tag.

414  Other / Meta / Re: Icopress ' Merit Source Application on: February 17, 2024, 05:33:32 AM
Since supporting icopress, I have only noticed more and more that he is here to favor his own interests with advertisers and that the community is not truly first priority for him.

Do you mean that you, with your (supposed) super high IQ, do put the interests of the community first by wearing a casino advertisement in your signature, while saying this?

As for the question if gambling is unethical - it undoubtedly is. Casinos, gambling, etc have always been unethical. Why do you think some countries outright ban gambling activities? Because it's exploitative.

...

If you really think the gambling board is as ethical as other boards this forum contains, you're out of touch with basic ethics and probably lost in the casino sauce.

You're not here to give many ethics lessons yourself. I'll summarize it for you in a sentence, which is not mine:

Lol, guy that is willing to promote something that he thinks is highly unethical and exploitative for a little bit of bitcoin will teach us about ethics.  Cheesy
415  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Do people truly risk their money on bets for profit? on: February 17, 2024, 05:22:23 AM
I don’t know if I’m really staying my points well but I wish to know if people really have to gamble without intentions of making money?

Gambling without using money is not gambling, period. Gambling is often talked about as entertainment or fun but without using money it would not be the same, the emotion of winning or losing is what makes it fun (as long as it is played responsibly, otherwise it can become a drama).

When people bet, everyone wants to win money, the problem is people who bet on non-skill games and think that they are a good way to earn money in the long term or people who play skill games without putting in the dedication, study and effort required to make money.
416  Economy / Gambling / Re: MetaWin.com | The First WEB3 Casino on: February 17, 2024, 05:13:32 AM
Otherwise, if RTP is above 100%, it means games are paying us for playing them. Isn't it?

If the sample is large enough, yes. But it's like when the RTP is less than 100. If you're playing a game with 90% RTP, that doesn't prevent you from walking out of the casino that night with a 1,000x, but if you go to the casino many nights, the more times you play the closer the total result of money wagered for you versus money won will be to getting 90 for every 100 wagered. In the case of RTP over 100 it is the same but in reverse.

417  Economy / Reputation / A clear change in airfinex's posting pattern. on: February 17, 2024, 05:05:29 AM
It is a thing that stands out and that I already commented in the thread he opened to ask a stupid question, more typical of someone new to the forum than someone who has been at least 6 years in it.

airfinex is obviously an alt account, which until now had been characterized by playing a role of "vigilante" so to speak in forum issues. Most of his posts were written in Reputation and he was the first to draw attention to Ratimov's plagiarism, for example.

After a small gap of about three weeks, nothing unusual for him, his first post is to apply for a signature campaign and since then all his posts are in soccer threads in the gambling section, apart from the banal thread below:

Which campaign has the most spammers?

Aside from the stupidity of the OP's question, he commits a gross error by putting WO next to casino names, as if WO were a campaign, and apart from that he does not include in the poll the casinos that all of us who have been on the forum longer know have more spammers.

This is quite striking compared to how intelligent and detailed his posts were prior to this change of pattern (regardless of agreeing or disagreeing with what he advocated).

To me it is very likely that the account has changed hands, as we have seen this story before: a clear pattern change where someone who had never posted in the gambling section starts posting almost exclusively there and also makes stupid statements or questions that do not match his previous history in the forum.

In my case I am going to leave a neutral tag, as I am quite in favor of red tagging the accounts for having changed hands but the evidence is not conclusive.
418  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: The person who can’t control emotions in gambling will never earn money from it on: February 16, 2024, 04:13:41 AM
Well, I would qualify. In casino games with a House Edge, the control of emotions can make you lose less in the long term, and therefore you can have more punctual sessions with profit, but it can't help you to beat the House Edge. In games like poker that do not have a House Edge, the control of emotions is essential to win money in the long term.
419  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Why in some religion gambling is forbidden? on: February 16, 2024, 04:03:14 AM
There are many religions that gambling is forbidden cause they believe that once their members is involved in gambling then there's a chance that they will not go to church anymore cause they will get addicted to gambling and also it will affect the relationship of their respective families cause there's a chance that the gambler cannot control himself and lead into misunderstanding and say bad words that can affect their families. But not just gambling also alcohol some religion forbidden alcohol cause it will affect same as gambling.

Lol, that's the first time I've heard such an explanation, although on reflection it sounds plausible. It occurs to me that maybe they not only don't go to church if they get addicted to gambling, maybe if they have a big win they will devote themselves to enjoying earthly pleasures and forget about religion. In any case, religions usually prohibit what are known as vices, such as alcohol, as you say, everything that can make people deviate from the behavior considered morally upright.
420  Economy / Reputation / Re: Which campaign has the most spammers? on: February 16, 2024, 03:52:33 AM
I find it hard to honestly believe that the OP doesn't know which campaigns have the most spammers. It's clear to me that it's someone's alt account, and seeing the things he knows about reputation it doesn't quite make sense that he doesn't know what he's asking.

Another thing I find surprising is that he has started posting in the gambling section when he had never done it before, to the point that I wonder if the account has changed hands, but without more data we can not know for sure.
