1401  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: Texas: Lawsuit Between a Bitcoin ATM Operator and a Local Sheriff on: June 24, 2023, 07:44:32 AM
They are arguing that the sheriff has the right to confiscate the funds but they lack the power to return it to the woman. Such an act by the Sheriff could harm the business in some other situations. I don't know what the law says about this situation in the US. But in my country, the lawful process will be to freeze the funds and get a court order to release the funds. This will help in avoiding further litigations.

This may seem like a legal gimmick but on this point I agree with the company. I don't know exactly what the legislation will be like in the USA either, but it seems to me that the most appropriate thing for the Sheriff to do would be to put the money in court along with a report of what happened, and then let the judge decide whether to return the funds directly to the woman or have to gather more evidence before deciding to do so.
1402  Economy / Economics / Re: Let's get rid of all regulations, what can possibly go wrong on: June 24, 2023, 03:56:36 AM
Imagine if someone makes an "experimental and innovative" nuclear reactor that explodes and gives radiation sickness + cancer to hundreds of thousands. Or someone makes an "experimental and innovative" dam that collapses and floods houses. Invisible hand of the market won't be able to undo the damage or prevent it in the future from repeating again.

Those examples you give are too exaggerated to the point of being unrealistic. For me, the amount of regulations should be reduced to the minimum possible, as well as taxes, but for example for the nuclear or the petrochemical industry, of course there must be regulations. Besides, today we are not exactly lacking in regulations. There are thousands and thousands of pages regulating ad nauseam for even if you want to open a fucking souvenir store. Besides, if the creator of the submarine violated the regulations, he committed a crime to begin with.
1403  Other / Archival / Re: 140$ scam by Using (AiTools) in Signature Campaign on: June 24, 2023, 03:47:50 AM
On the one hand, if the OP is correct, you will receive the cheater's weekly payment, as the rules say in the OP of the signature campaign.

On the other hand, to be on the safe side, you better pass them through at least three detectors, as you can see in the following thread:

AI Spam Report Reference Thread

I am for the integration of AI in the forum, just as it is already happening in real life, but not just copy-paste. Also, I can see that he has one negative tag and another neutral but of negative spirit, so I think the future on this forum looks bleak for him, unless he changes his behavior right now.

1404  Other / Archival / Re: 🌌 [banned mixer] - CoinJoin Mixer | Your Anonymity Is Our Priority! on: June 24, 2023, 03:42:01 AM
The other day I read the first article, which I quite enjoyed, and I had pending to read the second one, which I just did. Apart from being very well written and touching on several points, I enjoyed the account that the libertarian ideology that was at the birth of bitcoin and even in its prehistory. Today there is not so much libertarian ideology, something that can be seen in this forum, and probably has to do with what is mentioned in the article that the early adopters did it for ideological reasons while today the main motivation to get bitcoin is usually pecuniary.

In the near future we are going to publish the 3rd article (a continuation of the first two). But I would like to know the opinion of users about how often this should be done. For a second it seemed to us that the publication of 1 article per week is quite common. We will be grateful for any reasonable answer.

I see that the second one was published about two weeks after the first one, and now it is almost two weeks since the publication of the second one, I would still publish with that time interval. Twice a month. They are quite elaborate and dense articles and I think it justifies a lower frequency of publication than the usual of once a week.
1405  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: Texas: Lawsuit Between a Bitcoin ATM Operator and a Local Sheriff on: June 24, 2023, 03:19:09 AM
The news raises many doubts in my mind.

The only winners are the scammers who received $15,000 worth of bitcoins.

Where do you get that from? I didn't see it in the news. Alleged scammers told her that to avoid a fraud she had to withdraw $15,000 and deposit them in a Bitcoin ATM. But those ATMs deposit it in an address generated by the ATM, as far as I know, they do not allow you to send it to another address, which would be the one of the scammers, and I do not see anything in the news that speaks of sending those bitcoins to another address.
1406  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Hold Bitcoin VS Hold Gold on: June 23, 2023, 04:36:20 AM
It is not one or another imo.

IMO as well. I hold both actually, although the amount of gold I have is much less. But it doesn't make sense to buy gold to not hold it because the buying and selling fees eat you up. It is not an asset to speculate in the short term, nor in the medium term I would say. Bitcoin has more advantages, the main one being digital and being able to transport and transfer large amounts very easily, which is impractical with gold.

So the best thing to do is to hold both.
1407  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin vs traditional markets year on year comparison on: June 23, 2023, 04:26:36 AM
Do you think Bitcoin will continue to outperform these indexes by the end of the year, or will traditional stocks or fiat currency outperform in Q3 & Q4?

This has generally been the case and will most likely happen again in those two quarters, although we cannot exclude that due to some specific events that negatively affect Bitcoin this may not be the case. But Bitcoin is affected as part of the financial markets by what happens in the markets in general and what happens in bullish times is that more money is put into Bitcoin in the same way that more money is put into Nasdaq 100 stocks than into the S&P 500 ones. However, even if the downturns are more spectacular, it is more profitable in the long term.

I don't know why you include fiat currency, because the only way it will "outperform" the rest of the investments is if there is a downturn in the markets, which would leave the investments in negative, that is, worse than fiat despite inflation.

1408  Economy / Economics / Re: Economic problem, why is fiat difficult to hold. on: June 23, 2023, 04:16:51 AM
Why is money at hand difficult to hold?... I blame myself a lot for spending so much and being irresponsible with money....

You answer yourself. You pose the problem in an objective way, as if it happened to all of us, to finally recognize that you are to blame. It is true that society encourages spending, but ultimately you are responsible for it, because it does not happen to me and many others.

Money will not stay long if you're spending too much in things that are not really necessary.

It looks like that what he does.

But if you know how to manage and budget your money for needs before wants then you can track where it is going and you'll not wonder why.

This is essential. If the OP wants to start spending less, the first thing he has to do is to make a budget, and try to get in the right mindset.

1409  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: 63$ Loan defaulted by [Rohan Kotkar] on: June 23, 2023, 03:59:42 AM
possibly he bought this account cheap and use short cut and messages discussion show that he has no intention of giving back.

in last two months if i am not wrong, more than 5 cases happened here. why not make some strong rules for giving loan such as active users for one year or Reputed member collateral?
The technique of buying an account to scam is nothing new, but I doubt this account was sold because there's no email or password change according to BPIP.

That had given me to think at first, that the account was sold, as it had two previous positive feedbacks for financial issues, and scamming someone for an amount of $63 doesn't seem very consistent with someone who seemed to show integrity in these matters in the past.

But if he didn't change passwords, I see it as much less likely.
1410  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin - Asset Or Currency? on: June 22, 2023, 04:42:52 AM
I think bitcoin won't become currency simply because people don't see it as a currency and because it's too volatile almost no one will use it because of it. Why will you use bitcoin if it can't drop 5% a day and you lose money that you wanted to spend in a grocery store?

I agree that today it is more of an asset than a currency but the volatility problem, at least in theory, will be reduced as time goes by and the price and market cap continue to grow. As of today, no. To be able to buy bread, you want a stable currency.

Then, for it to become a real currency there is the problem of scalability. The blockchain cannot support billions doing Bitcoin transactions every day, and LN has its limitations as well. Then we also have Gresham's law, according to which, if several currencies coexist, people tend to spend the bad one and keep the good one. For me there is no doubt that Bitcoin will continue to coexist with fiat currencies/CBDCs/shitcoins, so I think this is also why people will use it mainly as a store of value and not as a currency.
1411  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Are this scam sites or real? I am guessing they are scam sites on: June 22, 2023, 04:27:32 AM
In the past, when I had less experience, I used the free accelerator sites, which, as has been said, are usually useless. If I had to accelerate a transaction, I would simply bump the fee, as I usually have RBF enabled, and ultimately if I didn't have it enabled I would use viabtc, from what I have read on the forum.

Regarding the red tag, I don't understand it either, when I saw this thread, I thought that anubizz had opened a thread to talk about these sites, but it is a simple comment in another thread.

Why red tag him?  Is he the owner of those sites?
It seems that's inappropriate IMO.

That's my opinion as well.
1412  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: What type of posts should a newbie post? on: June 22, 2023, 04:14:42 AM
As a newbie on this Bitcointalk forum, I wish to be guided by the high-rank members of this Bitcointalk forum on the type of posts I am to make that will not go against the Bitcointalk forum rules.

I don't want to discourage you, but my experience is that those who try to find for themselves and even more so for such simple things usually have a better future in this forum than those who wait for it to be served to them on a platter. Try to use the forum to learn and share experiences and knowledge and that's it. You'll learn as you go along.
1413  Economy / Economics / Re: Let's imagine you were the president of your country, How would your Economic on: June 22, 2023, 03:55:09 AM
In my case, what I would do is to remove as many barriers as possible to let the private sector create economic growth, and this boils down to administrative simplification, reduction of public spending and lower taxes.

That would also mean building dependable infrastructures like roads, ports, airports, internet connection, and others. It also means preparing your labor force to be dependable and effective workers. It even means there's peace and order in your place.

Jobs are basically created by the private sector, the investors. And no investor will come to a place where cars don't move because of heavy traffic, where criminals are robbing banks day and night, where the labor force are weak and lazy, where internet is extremely poor and communication signals are nonexistent, where access is difficult, where grease money is needed every step of the way, and so on and so forth.

I agree with this if you are referring to doing it through bids so that private companies compete and the best offer is the one that will be in charge of doing it.
1414  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why has Bitcoin suddenly jumped above $30,000? - 06/21/23 on: June 22, 2023, 03:48:28 AM
I suppose the news that has been cited had something to do with it, but we had been in a bear market and sideways for quite some time in a cycle that has been quite disappointing in terms of returns. At some point we had to start going up again, counting that there is less than a year to go before halving. But it has been nice this rapid rise reminiscent of good times past.

It all looks like a big fake-out. I don't see strong reasons for the market to grow right now. Inflation is still pretty high, interest rates are high as well and they will be rased at least 2 more times.

So I would wait for more clear signals to buy cos right now I think bitcoin might drop once again.

This is not only pessimistic but also short-sighted. Bitcoin is still in demand and in very limited supply. Declining supply in the long term. It is better to buy now if you are going to HODL for 10 years, a couple at least, but it seems to me that you are not thinking about that.
1415  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Getting Some Merit really boosted my motivation on: June 21, 2023, 04:45:02 AM
Other beginners must also feel this way, right? I doubt if only I feel this pleasure.

Well, it's always nice to get merits but it was in my case, and I think in most people's case, it was more motivating at the beginning, when I was in the lower ranks. Now that I'm at the highest rank that can be reached, it's always nice to see that you've been given merits but the feeling is more monotonous, more routine.

By the way, what you should start doing is to send merits yourself, I see you haven't sent any.

1416  Economy / Economics / Re: Connect data to accelerate cashless payments on: June 21, 2023, 04:24:40 AM
Cashless payment has become so popular and is gradually becoming a habit of many consumers, like last weekend I went to a market in a rural area when I saw that there were very few ATMs around, but surprisingly, the sellers there accept online payments, and the real amount is only about $2 for some fruits. I'm impressed with them because it's still a poor area and payments are mostly cash, but the way they're approaching the changes in the world is still unrestricted.

This is happening mainly because the fees paid by entrepreneurs and the self-employed have been considerably reduced. Twenty years ago it was impractical to accept card payments for $2 payments. Besides, nowadays it is more convenient because we carry the card in our cell phone.

Although this is a rather small issue in terms of personal experience, it is undeniable that it is the direction of future development in the new era, what do you think about this issue?

What I believe is that the use of cash will continue to reduce in the coming years, and maybe they will try to accelerate its disappearance with CBDCs, but for me the option to pay in cash should always remain, otherwise we are heading towards total control with fiat currencies.
1417  Other / Meta / Re: Please permaban naim027 on: June 20, 2023, 05:42:11 PM
That qualification you make when you join Royse777 "and/or his cohorts" is a subjective opinion at best.

Sorry, I don't know what this statement means.

What I want to say is that I have long since left the issue with Royse777 on my part and wasting time on it, and if you want I will explain privately why, because here it would be off topic, but basically it has to do with I think that indeed a client of his told him that I had contacted him to badmouth him and tell him not to work with him. But I did not contact any of his clients. So, I understand his position better.

So, when you arbitrarily make a selection of threads and you you say that I opened 5 out of 20 about Royse777 with others that you relate to him saying that they are his "cohorts", you are making a subjective interpretation, it is your subjective opinion.

Because the truth is that I let it go some time ago. Tell me if this what I wrote yesterday looks like a vendetta or if I really want to argue with him:

Regarding this, first: have you noticed that our discussions are of no interest to anyone?  Cheesy
1418  Other / Meta / Re: Please permaban naim027 on: June 20, 2023, 05:13:25 PM
Where do you think a thread asking for a ban should be?

This is not a thread about naim027's reputation

It seems you have already figured out where I think this thread belongs.

Of course. That's why I created it here. And if it has been here for more than half a year in view of all the moderators and a lot of users who do not take a minute to report threads especially in this section, I have a good reason to think that belongs here.

The unofficial rules don't really specify what offenses qualify for a ban, so this is a subjective opinion at best.

Fine.

...but this thread can be seen as an embarrassment from another perspective:  At least 5 of the last 20 threads you've started are on the subject of Royse777 and/or his cohorts.  I think you may be spending too much time on the subject, and it's looking very much like you have a vendetta.

That qualification you make when you join Royse777 "and/or his cohorts" is a subjective opinion at best. And no, I haven't been spending much time on the subject for a while. FYI, the last one I opened at Royse777's request:

Go a create a new topic about it. You will have me there.

FYI as well, he was the one starting the argument this time.

1419  Economy / Reputation / Re: 'John Abraham ≈ naim027' Coincidence or Connection? on: June 20, 2023, 04:58:57 AM

Blah, blah, blah.

This is my answer:

1420  Other / Meta / Re: Please permaban naim027 on: June 20, 2023, 03:53:23 AM
Why is this thread still in the Meta board?

Where do you think a thread asking for a ban should be?

This is not a thread about naim027's reputation, it is a thread asking for the ban of someone who ban evaded with several alts when he was banned, of which there is no doubt, as he confessed it himself.

That was the initial intention of the thread. I have now moved on to asking for explanations as to why the rules are not being followed in such a blatant case, the silence for an answer being embarrassing.
