401  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Just a friendly Bitcoin friend reminder - High price = more scams on: March 05, 2024, 11:28:15 AM
Scammers are never on vacation, so although in times when the price goes up, they probably increase their activity - what difference does it make if someone receives 1 or 100 spam/phishing e-mails today? If you don't know what you're doing, even 1 such e-mail will be enough to cause damage, so I don't see that anyone is in more danger today than they were 2 or 3 months ago.

I don't think that's an issue antivirus can solve.
~snip~

Of course, AV are not tools that can prevent every malware or virus from penetrating our device, but a good AV will always warn of danger, especially if it is a malicious file that has already been marked as a potential threat. My AV scans every file I try to download, and shows how many times that file has been downloaded so far (based on the user's access) and gives a recommendation for it, or automatically quarantines it.
402  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How dangerous are email phishing links and youtube and twitter links? on: March 05, 2024, 11:09:25 AM
Maybe you should read what other members have written, because there is really no point in repeating it. Just don't click on links that look suspicious to you, because why would you do that at all? In addition, all those phishing links for hardware wallets do not make any sense if you know that you should not enter your seed anywhere else except possibly in a new hardware wallet that you trust.

By the way, I see you're making progress - you didn't open a new thread to ask the same question Wink
403  Economy / Speculation / Re: When is next significant correction coming? on: March 05, 2024, 10:34:47 AM
Hello everyone! Thank you so much for your replies! It pains me to buy it so expensive when I bought it first £20K cheaper than it is now! But I guess I am gonna have to! I mean £20K in a little bit over  a month - I could not have foreseen this!  Shocked Shocked Shocked

You could have predicted that something like this would happen considering that the SEC gave approval for spot BTC ETFs, but for consolation you are not the only one who was caught off guard, because much more experienced members of the forum suspected that spot ETFs would have this effect on the price.

I already wrote to you that it would be much easier for you to look not only at the price, but at the fact that Bitcoin is much more than an investment, but I understand that most people do not look at it from that perspective. However, if you only care about profit, can you even imagine what the price of BTC will be in the next 1-1.5 years from today? It may seem expensive to you, but chances are good that it will pay off in the end.

Everything written above is not financial advice, but only my personal opinion - do not invest more than you are ready to lose.
404  Economy / Economics / Re: BTC ATH in local currency on: March 05, 2024, 10:23:44 AM
~snip~
Another great thing here is that the fees haven't surged to crazy levels like last year and are in a reasonable range currently. Hyped!

Fees are not at crazy levels because the "ordinal spammers" have calmed down a bit, but still for some it is still a lot to pay between $3-$5 right now, especially if it is about microtransactions. However, considering the fees we had not so long ago, this does not look so bad today considering how the price of BTC is growing. The number of transactions in mempool ranges between 140 000 and 150 000, which is not a lot considering the situation.
405  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin all time high, is it ETF effects or pre halving cycle on: March 05, 2024, 10:15:15 AM
~snip~
I'm curious, though: what's making Bitcoin surge so fast? Is it the upcoming halving, the ETF approval, or possibly both? Even if that's the case, how do you explain such tremendous growth on such short notice?

I already wrote a lot in the previous post regarding your question, but it's still hard for me to understand that people are so surprised that the price of BTC is rising, which only shows that they don't understand what's actually happening in the background. From the moment the spot ETFs were approved until today, these same funds have bought about 350 000 BTC and that simply has to have an impact on the price, and the halving is just a secondary thing that hasn't happened yet and probably won't show any effects in the first months after it happens.

We have new players in the game, and they are powerful, and have more money under their control than many countries in the world. Given that we have been preparing for this moment for years, it is really strange that many are surprised that the price of BTC is rising before the halving, which will become more and more irrelevant as time goes on.
406  Economy / Reputation / Re: Opinions on the word "Vouch" on: March 04, 2024, 03:57:30 PM
I have noticed this word more often when it comes to boards like Digital goods where members sell digital things, and in order to "start a business" they often give a "vouch copy" to a few high ranked members who then have to write an honest review. I've always thought it was a very slippery slope, because for just a few $ I would never guarantee that other buyers would also get what they paid for - especially if the seller has products that range from a few $ to several hundred $.

When it comes to publicly expressing our trust in someone that they will do something that is expected of them, and if that doesn't happen, we can certainly feel somehow responsible if it doesn't happen. I could do such a thing for several members of the forum that I trust, and I would have no problem being financially responsible in case something goes wrong.

This is how it looks for me (Tor). It looks normal in other browsers.
408  Other / Archival / Re: Are investors investing in Bitcoin at ATH now are fools ? on: March 04, 2024, 03:28:02 PM
Are investors investing in Bitcoin at ATH now are fools ?

The answer is YES and NO.

YES - those who have been investing in Bitcoin for years and know what is happening, but still have some doubts all the time, and instead of taking advantage of the long bear market, they start investing only now.

NO - The one who is a beginner is in a situation where he can invest now, regardless of the price, or wait for the next correction and bear market, which may only occur in about 2 years. Besides, maybe people wouldn't feel like fools if they understood that Bitcoin is much more than a get-rich-quick scheme.
409  Economy / Services / Re: [CFNP] [banned mixer] Signature Campaign | Up to $150/W on: March 04, 2024, 03:01:52 PM
@icopress, as far as I can see, the code for the signature is not correct, so we do not get the same signature as shown. I changed the signature and you can see how it looks - part of the text is missing "Bussiness Now for FREE".
410  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin all time high, is it ETF effects or pre halving cycle on: March 04, 2024, 11:49:44 AM
The more reason is that people have waited until 2024/2025 which they think would be the bull period and we are in 2024 already. The bitcoin ETF that United States SEC approved is also part of the reasons for the bull run. The greed has increased significantly and people are just holding.
~snip~

Spot ETFs are not part of the reason, but actually the main reason why the price is rising. If you look at the amount of BTC they buy every day and if we consider that in less than two months they bought a little less than 350 000 BTC, then it is clear that the law of supply and demand is at work. It is true that many are now waiting for their exit point, and I am sure that the price of $100 000 when it is reached will very likely be the trigger for many to sell.

Bitcoin all time high, is it ETF effects or pre halving cycle

Maybe I'm wrong, but the pre-halving effect has never had such a strong influence on the price, and I don't know why it's hard for people to accept the real truth? It seems to me that many still do not understand the difference between futures BTC ETFs and spot ETFs, but the difference is astronomical in terms of price impact.
411  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: March 04, 2024, 11:35:32 AM
@OutOfMemory, if you want something US based, and also much more secure than Trezor and similar HW, then you don't need to think too much -> Foundation Passport Official Thread

I would like to ask if in your country BTC has reached the old ATH or even the new ATH at the current price if using your local currency?

Honestly, I don't worry too much about it, because the last ATH was around $69 000 and when the price of 1 BTC is above that, I will consider that we have reached a new ATH. What I know is that compared to, say, 2019, I can buy much less for the same amount of money today - so even though various "experts & statisticians" talk about the fact that inflation was actually between 10% and 20% in the eurozone and that the inflation rate is actually falling, most the prices of products that I regularly buy have increased by 30% and even more than 100%.

Fortunately, we who believe in Bitcoin can consider ourselves lucky because we not only preserved the value of our money, but also created additional value that exceeds inflation. When I look at these geniuses who invest hundreds of millions of euros in government bonds and treasury bills (a financial discovery in my country Roll Eyes) and they are happy because of the interest, which is between 3-4% per year - I wonder what would happen if they earned 100% in 1 year?
413  Economy / Speculation / Re: When is next significant correction coming? on: March 04, 2024, 10:41:14 AM
I was waiting for a good moment to do that for about 3 weeks and in terms of being the dip it ain't looking good.
~snip~

Maybe you should ask those from BlackRock or Fidelity? As long as ETFs buy the amount of BTC they are currently buying (about 30 000 BTC per week), no correction should be expected, but only an occasional slowdown in price growth. I don't know since when you invested in Bitcoin, but unfortunately for all those who underestimated spot BTC ETFs and did not invest during the last year or even better in 2022, they can hardly hope for "cheap BTC" now.

If you buy small quantities and practice the DCA method, I don't see why you should wait for a dip - I'm not saying that you shouldn't expect one, but currently nothing points to it. Anything below $100 000 per BTC is cheap anyway Wink
414  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Sensitivities of Bitcoin secret hunters. on: March 03, 2024, 04:35:32 PM
At some point a cousin said to me that... Let me see your beautiful phone so I gave it to him, then I watched to see what he was doing in the phone.

I can still understand that you gave your smartphone to someone, but I can't understand why the phone was not protected with a PIN or a fingerprint, which would definitely prevent anyone from invading your privacy. I think you have learned an important lesson, and that is not to let anyone "play" with something that should be for your eyes only.

This has thought me a lesson to encrypt my private Apps such as my wallets on a secret folder whereas it would be invisible even when my device is unlocked to the public accessibilities.

Some smartphones also have a so-called private profile so that a person can separate private from business, but regardless of all privacy protection options, it is not wise for other people to have access to our devices. Those who use fingerprint or facial recognition are always at risk of someone abusing it while they are asleep or in some other unconscious state. It may sound paranoid, but when you go to sleep, turn on the PIN lock Wink
415  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: My rewards for hodling despites the challenges. on: March 02, 2024, 04:17:23 PM
I don't know what kind of society you live in, but putting profit before your wife's happiness is not something that makes sense to me personally. Also, I don't know what kind of anniversary celebrations people do in your place, but I would take my wife to a romantic dinner and it wouldn't have to depend on the price of Bitcoin or anything else.

Another thing that makes no sense is that, as some have already said, you store your coins on a CEX, and also for security reasons, it is wrong to publicly publish information about what you have. People don't publicly publish their bank account balances, I don't know why they do that with cryptocurrencies.

Have you ever looked for your recovery words, or even your wallet, everywhere?

As far as I can remember, this has never happened to me, and it is unlikely that it could happen, because I realized a long time ago that you should always be serious about such things. However, I know that there are people who constantly lose things, and when someone behaves irresponsibly in life, it is not surprising that he will lose a piece of paper on which he wrote some words.

It's not easy to be your own bank, and everyone should clear some things up with themselves before investing in cryptocurrencies. Be serious and responsible in life and there is a high probability that you will not lose anything important - and even if you happen to lose or forget one backup, the second or third backup you made will save you - you know that one backup is not enough?

I’m starting to suspect you’re an alt account of OddJobsForBitcoin and only throwing around baseless accusations to deflect.

Deflect from what? First, try to understand what this is about, and only then write something that makes sense. I don't have an alt account on this forum because I've never needed anything like that - and you and other "geniuses" prove the opposite - just don't put me in the same category as those who deal with odd things and have odd ideas in their heads.
418  Other / Meta / Re: A simpler version of demerits: "dmerits" for every X merits earned on: March 01, 2024, 11:18:17 AM
@nutildah, I'm not good at digging into someone's accounts and looking for links, but if we take into account the whole context behind everything that's happening with the @OddJobsForBitcoin account and his public acknowledgment that he has so many alt accounts under his control that he doesn't even know their number - and that one Legendary account just appeared and supported his idea and then disappeared (it was not active since the creation of the topic), then for me that is enough for justified suspicion that it is possibly the same person.

Of course, this is not an accusation, but only my personal observation when looking at the overall picture. Maybe I'm wrong, but when someone chooses silence and ignoring instead of defense, it's not something that works in his favor.
419  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: 5G positive effects on Bitcoin on: March 01, 2024, 09:56:53 AM
~snip~
If am correct you are saying 5G does not influence the bitcoin network in any way right??

As other members have already written, 5G technology probably has almost no impact on mining itself, nor on the ordinary user who has a desktop/mobile wallet installed. We all like high internet speeds, but transactions are mostly very small in size and it doesn't matter if you use 2G or 5G.

In addition, 5G mobile stations consume a significantly larger amount of energy, so I once read that in China they even turned them off during certain parts of the day to save energy.
