721  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Jpg monkeys are making the fees impossible? Just use a meme coin! on: December 22, 2023, 03:46:45 PM

To be honest I hate ordinals  Grin I mean there is an efficient chain like a bunch of it. there is Ethereum with their layer 2 start from polygon and then arbitrum optimism and lot other why the dev choose bitcoin  Cry

For the reason that Bitcoin can sell the story well and gives legitimacy to the whole project - and it is quite certain that on any other chain all this would be one big ordinal nonsense that would last very short. Some see Bitcoin as just a cow to be milked as long as there is something in it and they don't really care that the fees have gone to the sky.

We also have to wonder if the miners are the ones who are profiting very handsomely from all this by chance, or if some of them have their fingers in everything from the beginning?
722  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Anything to worry about if you use mixers and not doing anything illegal? on: December 22, 2023, 03:18:46 PM
From your link the quotes below grabbed my attention:
In general, I would recommend using privacy driven cryptocurrencies if you want to have privacy in your transactions...
Since Bitcoin is purely transparent and you are able to to analyze each transaction in blockchain space you have enough data to identify and anonymize transactions regarding the mixing service. You just have to filter all blockchain data which is not interesting for you and analyze the rest.
monero and zcash are private crypto's because they were built with that purpose in mind. Bitcoin was not.

You're going in the right direction, because the so-called "privacy coins" are definitely different from Bitcoin, although I can't tell you how private their transactions actually are, because I honestly haven't studied how hard or easy it is to track those transactions. However, given that the authorities are quite hostile towards such cryptocurrencies and that most centralized crypto exchanges have removed them, it is quite clear that they want to discourage people from using them.
723  Economy / Speculation / Re: What are we expecting between now and Bitcoin halving? on: December 22, 2023, 02:52:57 PM
i think bitcoin pump not about ETF.
in history bitcoin price every halving bitcoin price will rise very high and always reach its latest ATH price. ETF have little or to no impact on the overall BTC price.

You obviously don't know the difference between futures and spot BTC ETF, because then you would certainly think differently about the impact on the price if such an ETF (spot) were approved in the US. The very news of such an approval can have a positive effect on the price, and all those funds that will buy BTC after that will definitely affect the price.

Of course, what is unknown is how much interest investors will actually have in such a way of trading, because futures BTC ETF that have been around for some time are not very popular.

Finally, there will be no more hacked BTT accounts and everyone will sleep peacefully knowing that they are now safe from all hackers Roll Eyes

All kidding aside, this is a nice feature for added security, but for those who don't have a sense of online security, it won't be too much of a help - someone who allows their forum account to be hacked will most likely not be able to protect their email account, which means that hackers will easily bypass this additional protection.

Until your account gets hacked and is used to post malware, leading to a permanent ban. That's when you will realize that the staked BTC address is useless. I think i know someone in this state whose account is still banned up to now despite opening a ban appeal including a signed message.

Far from the fact that the signed address is useless, because even when a hacker succeeds in hacking the BTT account and the e-mail that is connected to the forum account, apart from the IP logs that can serve as evidence (if the user does not use VPN/Tor), the only way you can prove that you are the real owner of the account is to sign the message from the staked address.
725  Economy / Economics / Re: Are fast-fashion shopping apps hurting local economy? on: December 21, 2023, 05:04:16 PM

I used to order a lot from such sites, but now I haven't ordered anything from China for a long time because the regulations regarding such shipments have changed for the worse in my country, and if I'm not mistaken, all shipments outside the EU are subject to customs and VAT, and some other local postal costs. In other words, such ordering has become quite unprofitable considering that there are local stores and those in the EU that import such goods from China in containers and then sell them at retail prices that are sometimes even competitive with those directly from China.

When you look at today's products for wide application, most of them come from China, Turkey, India or Pakistan, and even those products that are declared as coming from the EU are actually mostly produced outside the EU.

Unfortunately, the EU or the US cannot compete with the price of labor in China or India, and recently I watched a documentary that revealed that prisoners are used for some jobs in China - and that is practically free labor.

Ledger will make sure victims affected will be made whole, and are committing to work with the DApp ecosystem to allow Clear Signing, and no longer allow Blind Signing with Ledger devices by June 2024.

This is something new (unexpected), but considering all the bad things associated with this company, few will try to improve their reputation by playing the game "the bad ones, the good ones". I hope that there is no catch in everything, let's say some kind of KYC for all those who want a refund, or maybe a mandatory Recovery service lasting at least 1 year Roll Eyes
727  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: BOOK: 'The Bitcoin History Book 2008-2024' Progress Report (UPDATE 04/12/2023) on: December 21, 2023, 04:33:55 PM
More feedback would be much appreciated...

No one feeling generous this Christmas? The book preview in the OP is effectively around 1/3 of the final pages (300 A4 page book). If you found the early Bitcoin history useful, please donate a small amount towards my efforts to complete all other pages.

Thank you

I don't see why you are constantly looking for financial motivation in a project that does not require any material costs except your time? Your main motivation should be doing something that you consider important, and you invest your free time in it. When the book is finished, you will be able to put it up for sale and all your efforts will pay off Wink
728  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How to get 1 eth or 1 btc on: December 21, 2023, 04:07:11 PM
In a modern way, no Trolls or old ideas/patern

To begin with, I'll just say that you're fishing with the wrong bait, and you're also asking a question that doesn't make sense at all. You could also ask how to get a car, or how to get a kilogram of gold, as if these were things you just wished for and they were created in front of you.

Think about it, 1 BTC is currently worth $40k + and that altcoin is twenty times less, so I guess you can calculate what is easier to get to. If you're already comparing the two (which doesn't make sense), maybe you'll be satisfied with a BTC fork worth a few hundred $, which is much easier to get to and then you can brag because most people don't understand the difference anyway Wink

Has anyone been caught doing this? Because its worth giving a neutral tag over, replying yourself in the comments is abnormal behavior.

If you look in the Reputation board, you will surely find a lot of people who have been caught doing "illegal" things with their alt accounts. I often notice such behavior on the forum, especially when it comes to users from certain countries.

I tried to point out such behavior on one example that you can see here, but apart from me leaving neutral feedback, no one else felt it necessary to do anything. I believe that this only encourages others to do the same things, and it is no secret that some are ready to do anything for a few merits, and that includes talking to themselves.
730  Economy / Speculation / Re: What are we expecting between now and Bitcoin halving? on: December 21, 2023, 09:38:51 AM
26% in profit is very low.
~snip~

If by any chance you read my previous post, then you could see that I already commented on that information - and the reason for such a small profit lies in the fact that the OP invested exclusively in altcoins (you can see that from his post history). However, considering the interest rates on savings and deposits in banks, even that 26% seems like very good earnings in a period of 1-2 years of investment.

OP (and many others) don't seem to understand the moment the market is in at all, because if you ask the question "should I sell now or wait?" they obviously haven't studied the history of halving even a little bit. Of course, one should always take into account that history does not always have to repeat itself, but if you are already doing something exclusively for the sake of profit, then it is still not bad to look at the historical facts.
731  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Anything to worry about if you use mixers and not doing anything illegal? on: December 21, 2023, 09:18:44 AM
Mixer is a tool to make you stay anonymous,
That's the only reason I want to use mixer.

You have to be careful who you quote, because I didn't write it. As I already said, neither Bitcoin is anonymous, nor can you be sure that any mixer can provide absolute anonymity, given that the blockchain is public and anyone can analyze it - and for years there have been specialized companies that do this professionally.

Does anyone else agree that mixers can be tracked?

Did you read anything on the link I put in my previous post? Well, mixers are not some kind of magic, but rather a simple input of funds and output of funds, where an attempt is made to break the connection between the coins that someone sends and the funds that the same person then receives at his address. If you're doing something really bad and "they" want to find you, be sure that you won't be able to hide by using a mixer.
732  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Anything to worry about if you use mixers and not doing anything illegal? on: December 20, 2023, 04:35:13 PM
Mixer is a tool to make you stay anonymous, so assuming you did right and know what you're doing, how can someone able to know your location and knocking your door? you must be leave your identity somewhere and it's already kill the purpose of mixer.

There is a good thread about how it is not that difficult to break mixers in the sense that whoever has the knowledge, resources and time can connect the dots and come to the conclusion where something came from and where it went. Those who analyze blockchain today are already so successful in this that even mixers do not pose too much of a challenge. Anonymity online is something that is talked about a lot, but being completely anonymous online is a big illusion.

Using mixer will be expensive because the current regulations is full of KYC, so it's not gonna be easy to stay anonymous.

I don't think that using a mixer will be any more expensive than it is today, because they will continue to try to be competitive and attract as many clients as possible. The fact that they will no longer be present on this forum does not change too much their way of doing business.
733  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The Whole Concept of Bitcoin is Failing! on: December 20, 2023, 03:50:07 PM
I won't lie. I am a big Bitcoin believer and have been since 2020, but this fee problem is very worrying. If you look at the infographics being shared by other shitcoins that does the same blockchain fancy stuff and for that, you pay less than 10 cent fee for one transaction. And for Bitcoin, it's currently above $20 and the time it takes is so much for an ordinary transaction.

A lot of people live in the delusion that the security of Bitcoin on-chain transactions is something that can be compared to the security of transactions of most altcoins. When you get 1 confirmation with BTC, it's a pretty safe thing - how many confirmations do you need to be safe with some of the most popular altcoins?

As far as I can see, the price of the priority transaction fee is around $12 and it has been like that for the past few hours, but I will just say that as far as ordinals and similar nonsense are concerned, we couldn't expect anything better from ordinary idiots who just want to make a lot of money even if with that they do certain damage to everyone who are using BTC for transaction on a daily basis.

~snip~
Where are we going as a Bitcoin community? What do the developer plan for the future? Is this infestation being done by the government? Let's discuss possibilities or we might end up with nothing before the next halving.

You are too pessimistic considering that in the past there were also big challenges when it comes to spamming the blockchain and when the fees were more than twice as high as the highest recently. The Bitcoin community, to which the people from this forum and everyone else belong, can't do anything about it, and if you follow what prominent members of this community write, then you probably noticed that they mostly do not support any form of censorship that would go in the direction of banning what is currently happening.

We don't have many options, there is LN as an alternative, or maybe some altcoin until the situation stabilizes - although in the long term we all have to know that in less than 10 years 99% of BTC will be mined, and that even before that, miners will increasingly depend on fees that will no longer be as cheap as we are used to.
734  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Tether Confirms Extensive Collaboration With DOJ, FBI and Secret Service on: December 20, 2023, 03:05:39 PM
Is this the right place for this?
~snip~

I don't think so, after all, it is about something that is in the altcoins zone, but to some extent it makes sense for beginners to be warned and familiarized with some things when it comes to stablecoins.

I have written several times on the forum that this stablecoin (as well as most others) have meaning and fulfill their purpose for all those who are active crypto traders, but on the other hand I would describe them as a perfect Trojan horse that the authorities can at any moment activate and freeze the so-called stablecoins and thus cause a panic of unprecedented proportions.

It is clearly visible from everything that can be read over the years that the authorities (especially in the EU) see a far greater threat in stablecoins than in Bitcoin. Due to everything I have already written and the fact that there are always doubts whether stablecoins are really backed in a 1:1 ratio with fiat currencies, I believe that there is a huge room for manipulation and that a significant percentage of all stablecoins are actually not backed by anything.
735  Other / Meta / Re: Is really referral or affiliate are not allowed in Forum ? on: December 20, 2023, 11:43:57 AM
There are always exceptions when it comes to ref links, and those who are active in gambling boards may have noticed over the years that some members put a ref link in practically every post. I asked that question back in 2019, and in the discussion that followed, the global mod wrote his opinion.

Referral Link In Post Is Allowed?

Apart from the fact that ref links are allowed in signatures, they are allowed in if they are used in a website link that can be set in the profile settings.
736  Economy / Speculation / Re: What are we expecting between now and Bitcoin halving? on: December 19, 2023, 05:16:24 PM
First bull run coming up for me and after seeing the price of Bitcoin rally in the last few months particularly it is getting me somewhat excited for what is to come over the next few years.

If I remember correctly, you don't have Bitcoin at all, you have already invested everything in altcoins because you want some crazy profits. You can only hope that Bitcoin will affect the price of all those useless coins you bought, but if it doesn't, maybe you'll learn a lesson.

Up until now I have just been buying throughout the bear market and not sold anything ,my portfolio is currently 26% in profit which I am happy with but wondering if I should keep holding till past the bull run or take some profits now.

Only 26%, and you started investing in the middle of last year? If, for example, you bought only Bitcoin in the last months of last year at a price of $15 500, you could have already made a profit of how many percent? Something is not quite right with your math Roll Eyes
737  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoins and other cryptos will never become mainstream before... on: December 19, 2023, 04:52:04 PM
~snip~
You can't really buy a bottle of Bitcoin at the current network condition because the fee would cost you more than two bottles of water.

If you use LN, then you don't have to worry about the fees, but the fact that so many people complain about the fees is really strange, considering that there is more than one alternative.

It's possible to buy bottle of Bitcoin with water in normal network conditions but I'm pretty sure that no one is going to use Bitcoin to buy a bottle of water.

You really turned things upside down, because it is not possible to pour Bitcoin into a bottle, but in a situation where you are terribly thirsty and you only have Bitcoin, wouldn't you buy a bottle of cold water and pay even $10 for the fee? I would really like to see those hardened holders who would rather die than spend Bitcoin.

With 1050 activity points, you are a (Legendary) Member if forum does not have its merit system.

Yes, I have to admit that I didn't notice that and the OP could have definitely progressed a lot more than he actually is, but I guess the main problem is that he spends too much time in Gambling and Altcoins, and for some reason he doesn't have much success in his local board. When more than half of the activity is reduced to those boards, then the conclusion is more than clear - even the best members simply don't have much of a chance to get a few merits there.

It just shows how easy it used to be to advance in the ranks even if you spent all your time in Off topic or Gambling board.
739  Other / Meta / Re: How easy is it to sell an account? on: December 19, 2023, 03:55:00 PM
I don't know if you're just playing a beginner who wants to give the impression that he's interested in these kinds of things, or if you have a tactic that helped you get more merits in a very short period of time than some others in a few months.
Do you think this post deserved to get 23 merits?, that's the first post of brand new user who registered in December 17, 2023. @OP is also a brand new user who earn a lot merit from his first post, so... do you get what I mean? Roll Eyes

This is just more proof that the OP is not a beginner, and that @aleph1 very likely belongs to him, and that he is in the construction phase of making very successful alt farm so far. If I had to bet whose alt accounts those are, I'd put a big bet on someone who has been the main topic on the Reputation board for months.

Of course, this is not an accusation, just my personal opinion.
740  Other / Meta / Re: How easy is it to sell an account? on: December 19, 2023, 12:10:30 PM
Is there a way to safely buy/sell accounts? A dedicated auction site or something? How is the transaction done?

If you had written something like this a few years ago, it would have been enough for some DT members to paint your profile red - and even now if you ask such a question, it is a completely legitimate question why you are interested in it - and the only logical answer is that you might want to buy BTT account.

I don't know if you're just playing a beginner who wants to give the impression that he's interested in these kinds of things, or if you have a tactic that helped you get more merits in a very short period of time than some others in a few months.
