422  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Just hodl, bitcoin will do the silencing. on: February 29, 2024, 04:10:21 PM
~snip~
I think all bitcoin investors needs to take a leaf and learn from Bukele's firmness and resolve to HODLing even under strong press, criticism from the so-called experts.  Today everyone is praising him for for holding firm.
Remember this; bitcoin will always silent the critics, our role is to just hold patiently strong.

I think too much importance is given to one man as if he should have some great merit because he passed the law according to which Bitcoin became legal tender in El Salvador, and at the same time it didn't help ordinary people who don't want to use Bitcoin anyway. In addition, it does not take much courage to introduce Bitcoin into your financial system if that country has not had its own national currency for more than 20 years.

What Bukele realized a few years ago, others realized a long time ago - the real "geniuses" are those who believed in Bitcoin 10+ years ago while the whole world laughed at them.

Please advise people who have experience. I don't know how deep I can get into a subject. Actually there are many things here. Where do I start? Thanks in advance for the advice.

My advice is to start reading more than writing, because in order to contribute to the forum in some way, you first need to learn something. Do not use AI chat, do not plagiarize and paraphrase, learn how to properly format posts and that walls of text often do not make sense since few members will decide to read them.

There is no great wisdom here, things are quite simple if you don't decide to complicate them yourself.

If you are involved in crimes, you should know that your accomplice can then pass on information to the judicial system to reduce your prison sentence.

In other words, if you want to avoid a big prison sentence (or any sentence at all), all you have to do is to include as many people as possible in your "scam business" that you will blame for everything if business goes downhill. For me, the person who thought up and organized everything is the most guilty, and only then those who helped him in it.

In this way, the system sends the wrong message to those it is supposed to discourage from doing bad things - because if there is any possibility that they will do something bad and get away with it in the end, there is no doubt that some of them will do it.
425  Other / Meta / Re: A simpler version of demerits: "dmerits" for every X merits earned on: February 29, 2024, 11:16:52 AM
Why would a Legendary user be applauding a dense idea by a low end member that is overwhelmingly rejected by those who have partaken in the poll?
Bad idea.

If you don't have me on "ignore", and you read my previous post, then one of the logical conclusions arises - it's about one and the same person. Besides, isn't it strange that the OP has no comment after all on all these comments about his "brilliant idea"?

@BenCodie is apparently only one in a series of accounts bought by the one who introduces himself as @OddJobsForBitcoin. Otherwise, BPIP shows that the account changed its password for the first time on May 20, 2018, and then the owner probably changed as well.

I only wonder how Apple employees   let pass this app unchallenged.

Maybe app approval is not given by humans but by AI - and even if it is humans, it is not surprising that they have no idea what this is really about. The situation is no better when it comes to Google Play, where you have thousands of fake/malicious apps that quite normally pass under the radar - if any radar exists at all.

Check and verify everything before downloading, there is no other option.
427  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Common misconceptions about cryptocurrency (Bitcoin) on: February 28, 2024, 04:19:08 PM
~snip~
• Crypto Gains are not Taxed: This is one misconception that if not addressed early can lead to disappointments later on. Fact is, they are subject to taxation,  They are just like stock gains .

The answer to this question, however, depends on where the investor lives - because in some countries, income tax does not have to be paid if certain conditions are met. In some EU countries, you do not have to pay tax in the case of selling cryptocurrencies if more than 1 or 2 years have passed since their purchase.

Also, if someone buys and sells cryptocurrencies in a way that leaves no paper trail, why would they pay taxes on something that their country doesn't even know exists? Don't get me wrong, I will pay taxes on what I can't avoid, but if someone lives in a country of high corruption and crime, I don't see why they would additionally finance corrupt politicians instead of enabling themselves a better life.

So, when caught red handed, OddJobsForBitcoin opened this shitty thread talking about demerit and how bad some higher ranked members, like decodx, are doing:

Hey Theymos, There Should Be a Demotion Button

BenCodie OddJobsForBitcoin thought it was a good idea, regardless of the context of where the proposal came from, and from what we see in the voting results, he seems to be the only one.

No matter how unpopular it may seem, I really don't believe in coincidences when it comes to those who have many alt accounts on this forum and try to manipulate other members using them. I won't repeat what I wrote, but for those who missed it -> https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5486444.msg63722621#msg63722621
429  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: Ilya Lichtenstein gives new testimony on: February 28, 2024, 11:09:04 AM
I like this kind of "justice" less and less, because in the end it is not the fault of the one who committed the crime, but those who enabled him to launder (hide) the stolen funds. Now the authorities are offering him a "smaller penalty" if he points the finger at all those mixers he used, and points them to those other services that, in his words, "suited his purposes better."

If nothing else, at least we know that they are re-opening the mixer hunting season after the winter break...
430  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: CAN I BUY CRYPTO ON EBAY? on: February 28, 2024, 10:56:56 AM
Who would have thought that 10 years later that same coin would be worth $0.70 or today around $0.10 - I hope you sold them at their peak Cheesy
Unfortunately I lost the wallet long before DOGE reached its all time high. Few months after that purchase I went on a long break from crypto due some reasons and when I came back I coulnd't get the acces back of the crypto wallet.

It must have hurt a bit when Mr. Mars inflated that coin to $0.70, because for $100 you could profit to an extent that you couldn't even imagine. I don't know what kind of wallet it was, but if you simply forgot the password, there is always a chance that you will remember it or brute force it.
431  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Donald Trump's stance on Bitcoin is changing on: February 28, 2024, 10:44:53 AM
Do you imply that everything he has said on living with it one way or another is only a lie and his administration will continue the crackdown on bitcoin and the cryptospace?
I ask because he also mentioned that he will never allow a CBDC. I reckon if he is lying about his change of stance on bitcoin then he might also be lying about his stance on CBDC. Would you speculate that this implies that he is in reality in support of CBDC?

If you ask me for my personal opinion, then the answer is that he and his administration will be very harsh on Bitcoin, or at least try to be. However, unlike when he was the president for the first time, now in the game with BTC we have very powerful companies like BlackRock and Fidelity, and a very strong crypto mining sector that will lobby together so that there are no strict regulations or maybe even bans.

As for the CBDC, the matter is very clear, if he become the president, he will do everything to prevent this from happening, but he will have the same attitude towards everything he considers to be a threat to the US dollar.

I (and certainly many people) would like to see some third option for president, because Biden is simply too old and senile, and Trump is a man against whom various court proceedings are being conducted and as such he should not have a chance to run at all.
432  Economy / Speculation / Re: The market smells of bitcoin halving. 54 day left! on: February 28, 2024, 10:21:25 AM
The market smells to me more like people speculating about the halving rather than the halving actually having anything to do with bitcoin's rise whatsoever.  I mean is there any reason why the price should skyrocket before or after each one?  That's one thing I've never understood.

The pre-halving effects have never had a significant impact on the price, and what is happening now has nothing to do with the halving, but with a fairly large amount of money flowing into Bitcoin through spot ETFs. The time when we can expect the halving effect is usually at least 6 months after it happens.

I just checked the 7-day chart for bitcoin and just the last two days alone make me a little afraid of what's coming.  You guys remember the last couple of raging bull markets?  They were great while they lasted, but price increases similar to what OP showed in that chart never last for long.  I'm going to bet that whoever's speculating, i.e., buying bitcoin, in anticipation of any gains from the halving are going to sell once they've made a profit--and then we'll see a massive dip

If we take into account what happened in the past, then the price correction will happen at some point, which is a completely normal phenomenon, considering that the price of something cannot go up constantly. Still, ETFs show no signs of slowing down, and the law of supply and demand pushes the price up.

We have already speculated that this year and the next year have all the prerequisites to be very positive when it comes to the price - the approval of spot BTC ETFs in the US and the halving create the conditions for a perfect storm that you may see once in a lifetime.

But what the hell do I know?  I never thought bitcoin would make it to $1k, let alone where it is now.  If only I had a time machine.

When it comes to Bitcoin, the word "impossible" should not be used, because no matter how impossible it seemed at some point, it turned out that we were often wrong. As for the time machine, I hope you wouldn't use it like Jim did Wink

433  Economy / Digital goods / Re: IPTV Subscription for all devices including Fire Stick, TV Box, Smart TV on: February 28, 2024, 09:52:31 AM
You can use universal IPTV players like IPTV Smarters Pro. It has versions available for Android TV as well.
~snip~

My experience with this player is good and bad. The old version that exists for smart tv works very well, but the new version with a lot of options is completely unusable on Android tv. It is possible that it is the TV (although I doubt it), but I am sure that it is not a question of the list or the speed of the internet, considering that there are players that work perfectly on the same TV with the same list.

How about user Septex?

GPTZero - > We are highly confident this text is entirely human.
Copyleaks -> This is human text.
ZeroGPT -> Your Text is AI/GPT Generated (89.22%)

This is obviously one of the cases that gives completely opposite results on the basis of which it cannot be concluded whether the text was generated with AI or not. It is possible that it is a combination of several things such as plagiarism, paraphrasing and AI.
435  Economy / Digital goods / Re: IPTV Subscription for all devices including Fire Stick, TV Box, Smart TV on: February 27, 2024, 03:32:16 PM
~snip~
I do subscriptions from 6 months, 1 year, and 2 years

I think you should definitely offer 1 and 3 month subscription options, because real insight into how well/bad things work is hard to come by after a 12/24 hour test. Also, from personal experience, you should pay great attention to the choice of IPTV player, because the best list on the best device can work very poorly if the player is bad.

What I want to say is that everyone who sells such lists should invest some time and find the players that work best - at the same time it should be taken into account that paid IPTV players are still far better than free ones.
436  Economy / Speculation / Re: The market smells of bitcoin halving. 54 day left! on: February 27, 2024, 03:19:44 PM
What started this pump was the MSTR buy of 3000 BTC. Which they bought at like $51.5K. It started a rally and we ended up at $55K as the top for the NY session.

I would not agree that this pump has anything to do with Microstrategy, because why would 3000 BTC make any difference when the company already has 190 000 BTC? If we look back, we can see that most of the purchases made by MS did not have too much impact on the price.

On the other hand, BTC spot ETFs (US) have so far accumulated, if I'm not mistaken, more than 300 000 BTC, and regardless of the fact that they buy through the OTC, such an outflow of coins must have not a psychological, but a concrete impact on the price of BTC.

Then when the etf flows came out, we broke almost to $57.5K. Because Fidelity is around $250M and Ark is $130M and GBTC is $20M negative. So most likely IBIT will be closer to $400M and we should have a record day for inflows. Crazy times.

Although we were skeptical at the beginning because the price of BTC did not explode immediately after the approval of ETFs, now we see the real effect, and the question that is asked the most is how much BTC will end up in the wallets of all those companies. What there is no doubt about is that they had perfect timing regarding the approval, and now they just have to play by simple rules and there is no doubt that they will make huge money in the next 2 years.
437  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Donald Trump's stance on Bitcoin is changing on: February 27, 2024, 11:34:13 AM
I can understand the skepticsm and I reckon it is correct for the community that we should be skeptical. However, what do you speculate on what might happen after if Trump is elected president? Will he become traitor and join the grandma Elizabeth Warren on her anticrypto campaign or will he do what he has said and he will live with it one way or another?

I honestly think that his election as president of the US would be bad for Bitcoin, but also for stablecoins, in which the governments of the world see perhaps even a greater threat to national currencies. Considering how US politicians defend their national currency (which is of course understandable), there should be no doubt what will be the first thing in line when (if) there are problems with the dollar (of course bigger than they are now).

I'm actually more concerned about the impact that Trump will have on some other much more serious things globally, because let's remember that he declared that he would end the war in Ukraine in 24 hours if he becomes president. There are not many options available to him in this matter, and whichever one he chooses can have catastrophic consequences for the whole world.
438  Other / Meta / Re: Hey Theymos, There Should Be a Demotion Button on: February 27, 2024, 11:21:48 AM
I think it's a good idea. I would support the idea if it worked somewhat in the way of adding 1 "dmerit" per 3-5 earned merits.
I made a poll about in support. I think this could really change the community for the better.
URL to poll. All credits given.

About having many accounts, I absolutely do not deny it. In fact, I have many low and high rank accounts...
---
The summary is that I don't even know the number of accounts I have because it's not among the important priorities of my life.[/size]

I believe that this is just another in a series of alt accounts that the OP has, and it is really funny that he thinks that he is smarter than everyone else when he thinks that such naive tactics can help him in his plan. Now that he has completely exposed himself, I believe that his idea is to take revenge on some members with his alt account farm - but he has two very big problems - the first is to convince the admin to make a change in the merit system, and the second is how to we all pretend we don't know what he's doing.

This is pathetic. Your kind is actually one of the reasons why the demotion button should be implemented. So anyone that supports the idea is automatically my alt? Folks like you who live for signature campaigns think the world revolves around posting rubbish without thinking them through. The more you try to sount smart makes you come across as bland. And low-witted individuals like you see it as worthy of merit? I sure admit having perhaps a dozen accounts because the first time I encountered BTT, it was a Google ad showing someone selling Legendary accounts so I thought it's a place to do such. The fact remains that I attempted to sell just one account before I realized that a better way of making money off the forum is through services. I've since earned close to or more than $20,000. And that with only a single participation in signature campaign but mainly through services I render here and on Reddit. Those of you who are idle enough to go through a persons posting history can run through my alts that you know to understand if this is true or false. I have also built businesses that I focus on and so, the many account I set up earlier are of no consequence at the moment. Anyway, your low quality of reasoning as an old member is the reason why such a button is necessary.

You are just confirming that what I wrote is very likely true, and that you are using your alt accounts to try to influence the opinion of others to advocate a new merit system in which people like you with xx alt accounts would take away merits from everyone who got them honestly.

If you have knowledge that I or anyone else has abused the merit system in any way, be a man and open a topic in which you will present your evidence. As for signature campaigns, I have been on the forum for almost 10 years, and those who know me a little better know that I have been in such campaigns for more than 3 years without spending a single satoshi.

Unlike worthless parasites like you who abuse the forum with who knows how many alt accounts, I only have one and I'm not here just to earn something - I have enough money to live a comfortable life.
439  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: CAN I BUY CRYPTO ON EBAY? on: February 27, 2024, 11:06:54 AM
It was just as you described, you sent the money via Paypal and once the seller gets the money, he sends you crypto.

My first crypto buy was actually on ebay. It was back in early 2014 and Dogecoin was just released and since I coulnd't afford one whole bitcoin I decided to buy $100 worth of DOGE. Since I already had ebay account and was using it regularly, friend suggested me to buy some via ebay. Crazy times... Cheesy

It never occurred to me to buy any altcoin, and Doge was actually the first coin I had in my wallet thanks to faucets. At that time, the price of Dogecoin was so low that it was usually expressed as 1000 Doges = $0.14, and you could very easily collect a few thousand every day on the faucets. Who would have thought that 10 years later that same coin would be worth $0.70 or today around $0.10 - I hope you sold them at their peak Cheesy

CAN I BUY CRYPTO ON EBAY?

Don't buy what you don't understand, and when you're looking for Bitcoin on such a site, you have a big problem - not only with the fact that you're looking in the wrong place, but also that you probably wouldn't know what to do when/if you manage to buy Bitcoin. Someone could sell you fake forked Bitcoin, or not actually sell you anything, and still claim to have sent you something.

First, get well informed, then find a safe wallet, and only then start investing, and only what you can afford to lose. Every investment is risky, never forget that.
