I think I am noticing this trend of late too. Just don't even mention BBR Wink The goal is to first convert people who then will do the proselytizing job for them.

The other day someone called CryptoNote whitepaper as Monero Whitepaper.  Roll Eyes

Yes, it's a trend to not specifically mention XCP, SJCX, BTM, QBK, DRK, QBK, STR, XCN, VRC, QTL, XC, VIA, REDD, DOGE, C2, AEON and even BBR in every single post in the XMR thread .. it's just a grand conspiracy to ignore everything but Monero in the Monero thread!

Here, we ignore particle physics, pornography, electronics, cars, acoustics, food recipes, games to play, carpentry, the weather and .. well .. pretty much everything besides Monero so that all the fans of every single one of those topics can get it in their head that theres just a massive conspiracy .. and one day come here to ask repeatedly and incessantly why nobody is talking about all those things.

We are the tinfoil hat factory!

I wouldn't worry about DTM, they belong to a set of users that have picked up dirt cheap mega Boolberry stacks (because they didn't want to pay market rates for Monero) and now are hoping for riches. DTM is never going to stop talking about his Boolberry.

Definately worth reading DGA´s reply, kudos for that dga.

+1. An excellent response and exactly the right sort of tone.

anyone got a link to the post?

It's a comment thread on dga's blog post.

They went back and forth a few times and VB backpedaled, severely, although still seems intent on leaving anti-XMR wiggle words in there:

Quote
If the current Monero developers were not involved in that, then awesome, they are completely cool and legit folks in my view

My little sister could have read dga's post and not get as confused as the supposed genius Vitalik, this is a very disappointing move from him and I bet he was hoping no one would challenge him.

I'm sure he has been hoping all along that Ethereum would walk cosily into the number two spot unchallenged and now a number two competitor is growing strong, well the final desperate attack is FUD and lies.
423  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero - A secure, private, untraceable cryptocurrency (mandatory upgrade) on: September 02, 2014, 12:11:55 AM
This is my first post here, but I am not a "troll".  I am a significant holder, accumulating over the last months, and you can tell by my twitter @indiemaps that I have supported Monero in the past.  But I can't see how anybody can trust the socialist devs of this project after the revelations of the past few days.  I will not dump b/c I believe there is more BTC to be made off this flavor of the season coin.  But I have certainly lost my trust and faith in the coin and team.

The developers claim to want to separate the monetary system from the government, yet David Latapie also believes in socialist education, redistributionist schemes, and forced/violent taxation.  How this is compatible with an anonymous cryptocurrency is beyond me.

I and I hope all the other anarchists who have supported this coin in the past need to move on....to a coin with nonviolent developers who do not wish to force their views of society on us.

Dear me, you seem to have forgotten to think before posting.

They are forgetting that the coin is bound by mathematical reason rather than the reason of the developers.

Unless they actively worked to make Monero unanonymous (and useless) I can't see what all this fuss is about, for sure, indiemaps is a troll.

Note that in my prior linked post about Gold, the rush to anonymity and avoid socialism-gone-mad taxation
...
Bitcoin is failing (to scale to ubiquity) because it is not decentralized.
...
Sorry but imo Monero is a joke pretending to be serious.

Wealth preservation is the art of allocating between the least-shitty alternatives.

Please, If someone can just make a short update.. I'm following thread from the start but can't recall when/why AnonyMint thinks Monero is a joke.. Thanks.

I think he also thinks Bitcoin is a joke.

If it can't scale it might as well not exist.
425  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero - A secure, private, untraceable cryptocurrency (mandatory upgrade) on: September 01, 2014, 02:33:33 PM

Says this who make the biggest scam in cryptocoin history. LOL.

lol plus he pointed to the article that proves how Monero fixed and forked away from Bytecoin crippled source-code... butthurt is strong on this one, I dont think he read the link.

Hah yeah. From the article it also seems that that miner dumped all the XMR to BTC and then USD. This will have had the effect of ensuring an even fairer distribution amongst those who weren't mining, unless it was just one person buying the whole lot up (which I seriously doubt).

The main concern with pre/instamines is that someone could be sitting on a significant % (30%+) of all the coins in circulation, which could completely crash the market and make the coin worthless should they decide to cash out. Which isn't even remotely the situation here.

Remember though, this was the same exact line of attack that was being used against BBR when it first came out. There was someone mining and dumping/distributing but by that time several had converted most of their BTC in XMR/had been proselytized and kept ragging against BBR that someone is dumping. It took dga to post how that whole thought point was just FUD and both XMR and BBR had gone through something similar in the beginning.

Except it wasn't the same, I mined both coins and the difficulty whilst DGA was mining wasn't massive, he must have been the only mega miner, however mining BBR was always near impossible in the early days. I'm not sure why.
426  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero - A secure, private, untraceable cryptocurrency (mandatory upgrade) on: September 01, 2014, 02:32:09 PM
Well Dga talks about BCN, but Vitalik doesn´t seem to have read the article really well.

Well if he publically comes out and says that he was talking about Bytecoin then cool, however that article is mainly about Monero and he could have simply referenced many other materials that talked about the Bytecoin scam.
427  Other / Meta / Re: I got bad trust by the famous tomatocage. on: September 01, 2014, 01:55:08 PM
hey, as the title says, I got bad trust by tomatocage.
He thinks im Joey the scammer even though i am not him.
also, the account selling is not true.
The reason why i post short paragraphs is my english is not good.

...

In other words, yes.
I no longer want to sell my account.

For you to no longer want to sell your account, you must have wanted to sell the account at some point in the past.

This is a contradiction, as you stated in your original post in this thread that you never wanted to sell the account.
428  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero - A secure, private, untraceable cryptocurrency (mandatory upgrade) on: September 01, 2014, 01:49:07 PM
XMR crashed -13%.   Wink

XMR is and BBR are currently in a massive uptrend from 17 Aug.

Fixed it for you.  Not sure why you accidentally forgot to mention BBR.  I'm sure it wasn't on purpose!   Wink

Yeah, GML is also up, but that doesn't mean anything profound.

Do you want us to mention every coin that was up? Only one matters, and it isn't BBR.
429  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero - A secure, private, untraceable cryptocurrency (mandatory upgrade) on: September 01, 2014, 01:43:36 PM

Meh, so now Vitalik feels threatened by Monero? I think we're winning guys!

"the CFOs that I meet with RARELY have any degree in economics, finance, or banking. More often than not, they went to school for engineering. Degrees in social sciences are worthless for the student are simply taught “opinion” of the teacher – not factual hard-evidence."

This is just so true. Engineering is invaluable if you want to make sense of the world surrounding you. When I employ people in any higher level position, it is practically a must. (Not the paper but the mindset).

Finland used to have highest % of engineering students (25% of college) compared to USA lowest (7%). Well currently both are doing really bad but that's not for the lack of capable people, it's just the unwillingness to let the rule.

What about law? Law is a social science but quite useful, and the mindset of a lawyer can be handy.
431  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] BitcoinDark (BTCD)--Sha-256/PoW-PoS hybrid/Bounty Opportunities on: September 01, 2014, 08:09:04 AM
On friday I returned home happy because I have sent a bank transfer to buy BTC and convert to BTCD.
Today I received a phone call from my bank saying that I have not provided a physical address, but only my PO Box.
They asked me to go to the bank with one utility bill and my physical address.
I refused to give them my details and asked them to cancel the transfer.

Do I have any other options to purchase btcd ?

I have no idea, Banks are clamping down more and more. Sad
432  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: MONERO.RS 100 XMR Giveaway on: September 01, 2014, 08:07:53 AM

Could be great a multipool for crypto coin. possibility to select the prefered coin (like www.coinmine.pw)

This is a good idea gwada, I would get back into mining a little coin if I could use a CryptoNote multipool.
433  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] BitcoinDark (BTCD)--Sha-256/PoW-PoS hybrid/Bounty Opportunities on: September 01, 2014, 08:02:46 AM
Thinking about it further, any coin in the supernetwork will be able to use the BTCD anon card functionality right? So being part of the supernetwork will be the ticket into the mainstream for any coin in the network. Being part of the network is therefore highly desirable, increasing the allure of BTCD. Coindevs will be begging to join.

We've still got some serious moon thrusters up our sleeves: The delivery of Teleport and the anon card. BTCD is nowhere near it's full market appreciation.
I have lost count how many coin devs have already approached me. My estimate of 100000 users could easily end up being a severe underestimate. I just have no idea how big it will be and the more money is raised, the more power it gets, so it is like some crazy feedback loop.

The more money is raised the more each share is worth. this is a unique financial instrument. All other uncapped IPO's dilute the value of each share the more is raised, but since 99% of what is raised will be in "hard" assets like BTC and advantaged investments, it reminds me of a tightly coiled spring. As soon as it starts trading, it cant help but go up, since clearly there will be some revenues generated by SuperNET. With all the various services all being made available to the SuperNET, it is potentially some very large revenues. How much in trade commissions per person average? How much in anon card fees? How much in Privatebet gambling fees? What about the Tradebot store?

So, there is all these services just from my assets, what about all the other coins? Then there is the ad revenues, sort of a google adwords built into SuperNET. This way even coins not worthy for the CORE can pay for the customer traffic based on what it is worth.

I am literally giving away thousands of BTC of marketcap as the SuperNET IPO is selling at 110% of book value (I am averaging the bonus amount). If I was some fancy banker to squeeze every last dollar out of the investors, I could probably make some nice fancy charts and spreadsheets and get 3x or 4x book value. But I want as many people as possible to make lots of money so they can be free of the fiat world. I already gave away nearly $1 million USD worth of assets and investors gained over 70 million NXT and I think in BTCD land we are looking at around $5 million USD of profits that I had a part in.

So when SuperNET IPO is making millions of USD more, then there will be that many more people who can afford to help with crypto. This is my long term plan, to do the brain drain from fiat into crypto. The smart people will figure out SuperNET IPO is good, they make money, then they are watching it go up and now they are wanting to help it grow more.

I had a very nice weekend off Smiley

James

Even though I disagree with you I'll invest something in this because I'm sure it'll pump hi towards the sky, do you have any idea when the IPO will begin?
434  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: rpietila Altcoin Observer on: September 01, 2014, 03:51:20 AM

It seems the only thing going for Boolberry is that James is pumping it, James constantly lies about how much better Boolberry is.

As far as I am concerned, Boolberry is now just a pump and dump until CryptoZoidberg dumps James publically.

Acting as a diva is kinda cute  Kiss but if James is indeed pumping where is dumping from your statement coming from? You shouldn't feel offended, neither you or James dumped BBR today. Although a certain hologram is posting in this thread  Roll Eyes

You'll see when it happens.

James is much smarter than your average pumper, he's playing the long pump.
435  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero - A secure, private, untraceable cryptocurrency (mandatory upgrade) on: September 01, 2014, 03:43:55 AM
Except that Zoidberg is a none trick poney, Linux has expert management skills.

The XMR/BBR sibling rivalry is adorable.  Sound like somebody is cranky because BBR spiked up +25% while XMR crashed -13%.   Wink

Boolberry spiked because I pissed of James. The joke's on him though, I made so much money from that.
436  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero - A secure, private, untraceable cryptocurrency (mandatory upgrade) on: September 01, 2014, 03:42:42 AM
I'm tired of all this Boolberry crap, the only reason anyone is pumping this junk is because the coins became 40 times cheaper than Monero and everyone now has huge stacks of these silly coins hoping to become rich, they are so worthless even I own thousands of Boolberry's, they cost such a small percent of my networth it made sense.

If anyone is wondering, I angered James in the Boolberry thread and he pumped the coin up, I say thankyou for that, because now I have even more Monero and still enough Boolberry to ride your supernetwork IPO and make even more Monero.

It would make me so happy for these Boolberry's to hit zero and never return, and these silly myths about the magnificent Zoidberg and the pumper James finally be laid to rest.

But please, James, pump and pump, I can't lose.
437  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero - A secure, private, untraceable cryptocurrency (mandatory upgrade) on: September 01, 2014, 03:35:52 AM
Maybe its changed recently but the biggest issue I had with BBR in the first few weeks of it and XMR existing was that BBR is entirely the work of a single developer. He certainly appears prolific and talented but to achieve and maintain growth in the marketplace I believe any coin reaches a point where it needs a team to manage it, and BBR's dev doesn't appear to be the sort of person to devolve responsibility. At some point I suspect it will go the way of many promising tech startups and falter when the key person can no longer juggle all the balls.

Both projects are open source, so anyone may contribute code.  It's very nice that we have two good, but significantly different, CN-based coins to choose from.  XMR represents the democratic, bottom-up approach.  BBR represents the top-down Benevolent Dictator For Life model that worked so well for Linus Torvald's UNIX.  I think both twins will be winners!

Except that Zoidberg is a none trick poney, Linux has expert management skills.
438  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: rpietila Altcoin Observer on: September 01, 2014, 03:30:38 AM
While I do regret making the sock puppet comment without a sound evidentiary basis (for which I previously, publicly apologized), I doubt that I have any real responsibility for his BBR pump - although it would be a sort of poetic justice for my misstep.

BBR was undervalued, so it was ripe for a pump & dump, and James is definitely the whale to do it.

I fear CZ may regret making a deal with old scratch before long.

Having just wasted 40 minutes of my life reading the entire "SuperNET" thread, I think you were correct about the the sock puppet comment, whatever your evidentiary basis at the time. That thread is littered with dissociated identities. It's hard for me to understand why anyone takes this pump & dumper seriously. Half-way through the thread, someone calls him out on having issued assets on the NXT platform to himself. "James" then asserts that this must have been a scammer trying to make him look bad. See: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=762346.msg8603930#msg8603930

Not reassuring.

I now recall why I avoided alts until Monero.

It seems the only thing going for Boolberry is that James is pumping it, James constantly lies about how much better Boolberry is.

As far as I am concerned, Boolberry is now just a pump and dump until CryptoZoidberg dumps James publically.
439  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: rpietila Altcoin Observer on: September 01, 2014, 12:55:42 AM
BTCD's supposed future Supernet, is stupid. If I'm correct, all it does is grant anonymity to other alt-coins...

But the problem is, Any altcoin can install coinjoin or w/e and call it a day, making "Supernet" obselete..

What I'd like to see is, xmr and bbr and drk working together. BTCD is just a pump and dump with a cheap knockoff name(Bitcoindark really?).

I agree about BTCD. It's James's pump and his super network IPO is about pumping more coins.

Again, bbr does not need this supernetwork from James, James needs bbr. Remember that.
