441  Economy / Exchanges / Re: XRP is launching on Coinbase Pro - Finally! on: February 26, 2019, 05:09:08 AM
So they're going to have 15 coins now. I got to see some comments about XRP on telegram groups, but I figured it was just another unfounded speculation. Unfortunately, I was wrong. I wonder if they will have a high trading volume. Currently, Bitcoin has 45% of the volume traded there, while ethereum has 25%. I imagine that XRP can stay above Litecoin volume, but far from ETH.
442  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Are there any good escrow cryptocurrency websites? on: February 26, 2019, 04:42:31 AM
I would suggest that you use https://paxful.com or localbitcoin.com. It would be better if you create the offer. But you will probably have to build some trust. Here in the forum some people have tried to seel too. But it is very difficult because Paypal is reversible so people are afraid to do this trade.
443  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: MEW introduces KYC-less Crypto - Fiat Gateway on: February 26, 2019, 04:29:30 AM
Really interesting. So Anyone could use their ATM to exchange ETH for fiat using MEW. And it is up to 5000USD. BUT, you will have to give a phone number, your bank account information and other identification numbers. I do not think it is right say "without KYC" and them asking for those details.

I just wish it is not the new Digg v4.
445  Other / Meta / Re: The profile page should be changed. No one uses ICQ, AIM, MSN or YIM. on: February 25, 2019, 10:18:13 PM
What similar things do people use now?

Those fields are actually built a bit deeply into SMF for some reason, so it's not completely trivial to change, but it can be done. Low on my to-do list, though, as hugeblack mentioned.

I’ve long thought there should be a spot for PGP fingerprint.

PGP fingerprints are SHA-1, which is insecure. The OpenPGP standard really needs a complete new revision...

The point is that what they use today may change in 6 months. Most people use Telegram, discord, Twitter for issues related to crypto.

But I think it would be more interesting to leave an open box. Where we could organize the contacts in the way that was most interesting. Allowing to put the address of Bitcoin and other coins.
446  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Bounties (Altcoins) / Re: [Signature Campaign] SIFR.COM Fiat-Crypto Exchange & Trading Platform on: February 25, 2019, 09:47:17 PM
This section is only for services that pay or accept Bitcoin. If you will pay using a token, you should move your topic to the altcoin section.

447  Economy / Reputation / Re: HoweyCoins new ANN thread ? on: February 25, 2019, 05:28:34 PM
I do not think theymos is the "owner" of Howeycoins. Maybe SEC+CIA are the real owners.

But out of curiosity, I do not know if it was explained in the original topic, but Howey Test is a method to determine if a transaction between two parties is considered an investment contract. If its securities. This test was used by the SEC to determine the classification of tokens, ICO and coins. Depending on the outcome of the test by the SEC, the sale of tokens by ICO may be prohibited.
448  Other / Meta / The profile page should be changed. No one uses ICQ, AIM, MSN or YIM. on: February 25, 2019, 04:57:40 PM
I'm suggesting this after doing something pretty stupid. I used the space where it is possible to put the YIM address to put a Bitcoin address. Unfortunately, there were two missing characters because there is a limit in that space, and I did not realize it.

But it is a fact that most use those spaces to put various information. Telegram addresses, discord addresses, and important information or warnings. In addition to addresses of different coins as ETH. No one uses the programs being shown there.

So my proposal is very simple. Put a free box space where you could put whatever information you thought necessary. Limiting the number of characters according to your ranking.

I'll use the darkstar_ profile as an example. I hope he does not mind. But as you can see, he uses the part intended for Skype to put important information and uses "other contact info" to enter the address of telegram.

My proposal would be to allow users to organize this section in the way they believe to be more informative. The other sections of the profile would continue in the same way.

tks
449  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Oscar Awards 2019 Betting on: February 25, 2019, 03:11:04 PM
Quote
Roma - 1.83
Spike Lee (BlacKkKlansman) - 9.00
Christian Bale (Vice) - 2.00
Yalitza Aparicio (Roma) - 17.00

I would bet on those names. They are not necessarily the ones I liked the most. But those are the ones that seem most reasonable to win some money. Rome as a movie is almost certain. Spike Lee sounds like a fun name to bet. Because of his career, by the political positioning he has and for perhaps being the great and unique opportunity for him.

Bale, as well as Rome, seems like a sure bet too. Almost impossible to lose. And he deserves it, is incredible in the film and would be a prize for all the transformations he went through.

Yalitza could be a surprise and bring a good return on the bet.

I was so wrong LOL

And Roma was a safe bet. It really surprises me that they have lost. Whoever has bet on the winners have probably won big as none of them were the favorites.
450  Other / Meta / Re: Hhampuz Ban Appeal on: February 25, 2019, 05:44:19 AM
I saw the rose with the name Zepher on your avatar, so I'd like to give you my thoughts at this difficult time that you have been passing. I hope you find the support you need to overcome it, whether it's friends, family or religion.

I think this break might be good for you.

About the ban, I think it would be necessary to have a bigger discussion if the offer of these services by PM, when related to the forum, and direct to commercial profiles, is something negative for the community.

I do not think so. It is very clear that @Hampuz has worked hard to find these customers he is helping to promote. It must be the manager who is managing the most campaigns that pay with BTC. And it was the person who managed to rescue some traditional campaigns that were being poorly managed. Spam is an abuse, not every service advertisement that uses PM should be considered spam.
451  Other / Meta / Re: New collection of badges for self-made users on: February 25, 2019, 02:01:42 AM
Forgive me for my ignorance, "airdropped" member status? What? I worked my ass off for my hero status and being a trustworthy member. All I know about besides earning it like I did is buying an account... what's an airdropped member? Hmmm... Also, looking forward to getting my LEGENDARY status! Also sorry OP... the silver badges don't look that great compared to the gold IMHO.

You now need 1000 merit to rank up to legendary, on top of the activity pts.  You were airdropped 500 merit as part being a hero member. Did you miss the introduction of merits to clean up the forum?
I was wondering where I got these 500 merits from lol! Thanks for the clarification. Man. Now I am going to have to work that much harder for my Legendary status. Sweet baby Bitcorn. The honey badger strikes again. At least it helps clean up the forum and promotes solid posting and not shitposting. I am thankful for that.

I thought it was strange that you did not know about Merit. But I saw you've been out of the forum for a year. That is, during the period of introduction of the Merit system. Good to know you got into a signature campaign, from Stake, right after you get back to Btalk... Roll Eyes Roll Eyes Roll Eyes

453  Economy / Speculation / Re: The slow 5 days of green ended in less than 5 hrs. on: February 24, 2019, 06:37:22 PM
1D and 1W chart only shows a great buy signal between 3200 and 3800. I will always buy as long as the price is in this range. But over 3800, the only thing I can do is wait to break the 4200 hard. If it does not break, it means the price will, unfortunately, fall below 4k instead of staying in that range. But there is the weekend factor. Where the negotiations are always with low volume and allow great manipulations. I am hopeful that this sudden drop will increase the volume of buy and we can break 4200 already on Monday.

455  Economy / Reputation / Re: Stake.com (SteveStake) is encouraging spam. on: February 23, 2019, 05:12:49 AM
What I had noticed is Stake.com - A signature campaign for everyone! Earn up to 0.1 BTC weekly don't even have a public spreadhseet of accepted participants and I think they were maintaining that in their telegram or discord channel so is it okay to deal with outside of the forum about the accepted participants?

They have this sheet from the other campaign. It is possible to see that  Caladonian made 109 posts and received 0.0184BTC.

Stake has also some topics on Local Boards. Stake.com Muita Diversão e Lucros em Um Só Lugar!
Primedice - Nº 1 Site de Apostas com BTC! 21 bilhões de Bets, 112+ BTC Jackpot!

@Adriano, who is the moderator of the Portuguese section, have alerted them that this kind of marketing was not so effective. It is just one person posting alone, there isn't any conversation or anything.

457  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: "We found 2 results related to your search" blockchain.info is crazy. on: February 23, 2019, 04:22:09 AM
They changed. Now instead of a "go" there is a dropdown menu. And you can select which currency to search. Just as I had suggested. I think it may have been a mistake that they corrected right away because of user feedback.

459  Other / Meta / Re: Citing reference sources properly on: February 23, 2019, 02:58:38 AM
Are you asking about a quote in a forum post or an academic document? I think it's on the forum, since you're asking in the Meta section.

While it may seem that the forum is very strict with plagiarism, in fact, it is not. It just needs to be pretty obvious where the source of the text is from. Some people complain when someone copies and past news articles. But I do not think there is a problem in that when they put the source.

If you want to make a long text, just use the footnote [1]

If it is an article with academic pretensions, follow the chicago manual of style.
460  Other / Meta / Re: [Proposal] Enhance the requirements for ranking up to Member position on: February 22, 2019, 05:53:56 PM
I disagree with you regarding the advantages given to Full Members over Members. Having a colorful signature and being able to put an avatar is a great advantage and differential for any marketing campaign. It holds more attention.

But I agree with the idea of slightly increasing the number of Merits needed to move forward. Perhaps a statistic of the average time that the users take to advance of ranking after having completed the necessary activity can be a good parameter.
